  • Unable to call WMP's controls.play() function in VisualBasic

I want the program to play one file repeatedly, however, this function doesn't work for some reason. The program plays each file once and then stops.   • Onclick not firing

    I have a set of buttons on my master page (I have attached the code below) but no onclick event is being raised. I pulled the final page source and no onclick event was present. As you can see I tried a few different approaches to solve the problem. I am looking for a normal postback to the server but I am getting nothing when I click any of these buttons.     Hi All, I need to build a quicken like application, where data needs to be secure. I don't see any database being used by Quicken. I could use XML, MDF or Access database, but data is not secure in the tables. What is the best option? How does Quicken handle it? My application may also have document attachments as well. The functionality of this application is similar to quicken but not an accounting/financial in functionality. Thanks a bunch!

  • Overwrite values when using gridview Edit?

    I am using a GridView which is bound to a LinqDataSource and using the automatic edit and delete buttons. However, I don't want the user to edit two of the columns manually, but done automatically. Specifically username who last updated the entry, and the date it was updated. The gridview only contains 3 columns: Name, Date modified, last updated by. Right now when the user clicks the edit button they can only edit the name column (other two set to read-only). Upon clicking the update button, I want the other 2 fields to update as well based on some extra code. I thought this was done in the code behind within the event rowUpdating, but it doesn't seem to work.     I have 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 stored as nvarchar inside Level in my db. I then have a dropdownlist with values 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9. When a user makes a selection (i.e 1) (Level.SelectedValue.ToString). This builds an sql query via a param like this: "Select things From MBA_EOI Where level = 1" When I run the select I get the following error: Syntax error converting the nvarchar value '1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9' to a column of data type int. I was under the impression that I was dealing with an Nvarchar field and the selected value as string, where does the int conversion come in? p.s I have also tried Level.SelectedItem.ToString

    I'm currently writing a library where I wish to allow the user to be able to specify spreadsheet cell(s) under four possible alternatives: A single cell: "A1"; Multiple contiguous cells: "A1:B10" Multiple separate cells: "A1,B6,I60,AA2" A mix of 2 and 3: "B2:B12,C13:C18,D4,E11000" Then, to validate whether the input respects these formats, I intended to use a regular expression to match against. I have consulted this article on Wikipedia: Regular Expression (Wikipedia) And I also found this related SO question: regex matching alpha character followed by 4 alphanumerics.     I have a DataGrid and everytime I change value of it's embeded dropdwonlist I get: "System.Web.HttpException: The IListSource does not contain any data sources." I have a data grid which loads fine: Name column is editable. I have a dropdownlist these : DataDataGrid gets its value from a table. (Select Name, Address From Persons) Dropdown list also gets list of names from the same table. So DataGrid and dropdownlist are bound to 2 different datasets. Correct me if I am wrong but that is because "ApplyCurrentValues" only supports scalars. To get around this I was just saving the FK_ID field instead of the entity object relation. Now I am faced with a many to many relationship so its not that simple. I would like to do something like this... Dim Resource = RelatedResource.GetByID(item.Value) Condition.RelatedResources.Add(Resource) But when I call SaveChanges the added Resources aren't saved. I started to play around with self-tracking entities (not sure if they will help solve my prob) but it seems they cannot be serialized to ViewState and this is a requirement for me. I guess one solution would be to add the xRef table as an entity and add the fks myself but I would rather it just work how I expect it too. I am open to any suggestions on how to either save my many to many relationships or serialize self-tracking entities (if self-trackingwould even solve my problem). Thanks!

    Stackoverflowers, I have a resultset from a SQL query in the form of: Category Column2 Column3 A 2 3.50 A 3 2 B 3 2 B 1 5 ... I need to group the resultset based on the Category column and sum the values for Column2 and Column3. I have to do it in code because I cannot perform the grouping in the SQL query that gets the data due to the complexity of the query (long story). This grouped data will then be displayed in a table. I have it working for specific set of values in the Category column, but I would like a solution that would handle any possible values that appear in the Category column. I know there has to be a straightforward, efficient way to do it but I cannot wrap my head around it right now. How would you accomplish it?

  • Synclock a section of code while waiting for ShowDialog to return

    I'm having trouble working out how to lock my application out of a section of code while it waits for a response from an external program. I've used Synclock on a section of code with the Me object in the expression. In this Synclock I call an overridden ShowDialog method of a dialog box, which has a timeout parameter, but does return the value from the underlying ShowDialog function call ,once the timer is setup. Works like this. SyncLock Me Dim frmDlgWithTimeout As New frmDlgWithTimeout ' dialog box with overridden ShowDialog ' Dim res As DialogResult = frmDlgWithTimeout.ShowDialog(10 * 1000) ' 10 sec timeout ' End SyncLock Now, external programs may raise events that bring my application to this Synclock but it doesn't prevent it from entering it, even though the ShowDialog function hasn't returned a value (and hence what I thought would keep the section of code locked). There is only one instance of the object that is used for lock in the program. Your help is greatly appreciated.

  • Displaying windows-1252 text in a literal control

    I currently have an aspx page that has a placeholder on it. In the code-behind page i'm adding a literal control to the placeholder controls collection. The literal control just contains text/html read from a sql server database field. The only text character encoding i've used so far is UTF-8. I have the requirement for a specific page to use windows-1252 encoding. I've strapped this to the page, and browsers now recognise the proper encoding. <% Response.Charset= "windows-1252" %> My issue is that i have various german characters ( ö / ü / etc ) that aren't displaying correctly. As presumably they are still be written to the page in UTF-8 not in windows-1252. I'm looking at; Dim textEncoder = System.Text.Encoding.GetEncoding(1252) Which seems to be more geared up to dealing with byte arrays than text. Do i have to change my text to a byte array then encode as windows-1252 then get the text back out again, or is there a simpler way of achieving what i'm after?

    I'd like to have a dataset or datatables, and be able to run SQL statements on them, without using any external RDBMS. For Example, to take take 2 datatables in a dataset and just join them outright with a SQL statement and Where clause, the result being a new datatable?
