I am trying to setup my gmail imap connection which has worked previously but now doesnt want to know.   • How can I handle unread push notifications in iOS?

    I have a iOS 5.1 application that registers to the APNS service to receive notifications. The register is successful and I receive the notifications correctly. The problem comes when I try to handle the notifications. Once the application is running, the method didReceiveRemoteNotification in the AppDelegate is called correctly and so the notification is handled as intended. This, however, only happens when the application is running on the foreground. However, when the application is running on the background or is simply stopped, that method is not called. I've read that you should add some lines to the method didFinishLaunchingWithOptions method to obtain the notification from the userInfo dictionary, and handle it. This works just fine, but ONLY when the application is opened by clicking on the notification at the Notification Center. This means that if you open the application by clicking on its badge, or simply by changing context if you were running it on the background, the app never realises that a notification came in. Additionally, if more than one notification was received, we can only handle one of them at once by clicking on the Notification Center, which is a pain :-) Is there any way to read the pending notifications in the Notification Center? I know there is a way to flush them using the method cancelAllLocalNotifications but I haven't found a way to just read them. And I really need to handle all of them. I thought of implementing a communication protocol with the third-party notification server to retrieve the information again when the application comes to the foreground, but since the information is already in the operating system I would find it strange if it's impossible to access it somehow. So, does anybody know a way to do it? Thanks in advance.

    Hi, I got this code to send email using SMTP server, I tried many configuration of it that I found online, also VBscript similar code, and non of it is working.   • iphone web app: open directions in external maps application

    I've seen the answers for opening the Maps app in a native iPhone app, but is there any way to do this in a web app? I've tried changing window.location to http://maps.google.com/maps?q=cupertino for example, to no avail. I've tried using a simple anchor tag linked to http://maps.google.com/maps?q=cupertino, also to no avail. Has anyone gotten this to work before? I'm working on a map-heavy application, and I'd like to provide users with directions at the end. I figured it would be easiest to simply open it up in the Map application. Note: I'm currently testing with just the simulator, could that lead to problems? My iPhone is down for the count at the moment.

  • Get Mail with PHP and IMAP in Gmail just loading

    I'm not sure why. Ive tried a bunch of different code. Wrote it myself, and copied other people's tutorials but every bit of code it's loading forever and eventually stops due to script processing times on the server. Does anyone know why? Oh, and IMAP is turned on, i get IMAP / Exchange on my iPhone from this same account fine.   • Class-Dump Installation

    So this may sound like a really stupid question and I HAVE looked at the how-to from the parent website, but no matter what I do, I cannot get this program to even start to install... I tried entering: cd /opt/local/bin/portslocation/dports/class-dump which returned a "this file/director doesnt exist" error, so i tried to get to it folder by folder. when i got all the way to: cd /opt/local/bin/ i cannot go any further. when i check the contents of the bin directory, the only files i can find are (and i cannot access these apparently either): "daemondo port portf portindex portmirror" i have tried doing this on 2 computers so far to no avail, macports is installed on both like the website said and i am having trouble finding any support for it. please and thank you!!

  • iPhone keeps going into dim/sleep mode even with the proper API calls.

    I call: [[ UIApplication sharedApplication ] setIdleTimerDisabled: YES ] on the applicationDidFinishLaunching event.. I set a breakpoint on it, which fires so I know it's getting called.. I've also called this function in other places as well.. Basically, a 3G iPhone will still go into sleep mode, but my 3GS won't. Has anyone seen this behavior before? Both are running the latest OS versions. Thanks for reading!

    I need to highlight an email addresses in text but not highlight them if contained in HTML tags, content, or attributes. For example, the string [email protected] must be converted to <a href="mailto:[email protected]">[email protected]</a> But email addresses in the string <a href="mailto:[email protected]">[email protected]</a> must not be processed. I've tried something like this regexp: (?<![":])[a-zA-Z0-9._%-+]+@[a-zA-Z0-9._%-]+.[a-zA-Z]{2,6}(?!") but it doesn't work properly.

  • Keeping connection to APNs open on App Engine using Modules in Go

    I'm trying to implement iOS push notifications for a messageboard app I've written (so like notification for new message ect. ect.) but have no real idea where to start. Alot the current documentation seems to be out of date in regard to keeping persistent TLS connections open to the APNs from App Engine and links to articles about depreciated backends I'm using the Go runtime and just keep getting stuck. For instance, the creation of the socket connection to APNs requires a Context which can only be got from a HTTP request, but architecturally this doesn't seem to make a lot of sense because ideally the socket remains open regardless. Is there any clearer guides around that I'm missing or right now is it a better idea to setup a separate VPS or compute instance to handle it?

    I recently did a mailing to a lot of hotmail addresses and now all the e-mails I send out (from PHP by the way) don't seem to reach their destination. So I figure hotmail banned my url... Is there any way to get rid of this ban so my e-mails will reach the users again (like activation e-mails etc)?

  • APNS Sending Frequent Notifications to Device

    I'm trying to mimic a pager with my app by sending push notifications to the user until he or she responds. My thought was to send a push every few seconds and play the default sound on arrival. Not perfect, but better than nothing. It's working all right. However, I am finding that the sound starts to stutter/interrupt a bit after a few notifications have been sent -- as if it's trying to play the sound more than once. This happens even if I only send the push every 10 seconds. I just tested it at 20 second intervals and even then it starts to sound interrupted after about 10 times. Any idea how to resolve this so each message plays the sound crisply? p.s. Testing performed on an iPad.

Then when a user enters the text: "Hello" i want there to appear a UIAlertView.   • Display local image in iPhone HTML mail

    Hello there, In my app, I am composing an HMTL email message with the 3.0+ MFMailComposeViewController. To do this, I created an HTML file, with some placeholders. In my code, I read the HTML file, and with replaceOccurrencesOfString, I replace the placeholders with data from the app. In that way, I compose the body of the email I want to send out. This is all working very nicely, except for the fact, that in my HTML file, I have an <img src='imageplaceholderpath' /> tag. Somehow, I cannot figure out, with what I should replace this imageplaceholderpath, in order to refer to an image that resides in my app. Is this a valid approach at all, and if so, what would be the syntax/logic behind the path I should put there?     Hi All, I am learning iPhone programming. I am starting with a simple example of displaying recently used documents in a UITableView. What I am confused about is why do I need to have several classes and why cant I just use one? Example, My class is called RecentFileList. I need to implement controller, delegate and datasource as well as the actual table view. Can't I just do this all in my RecentFileList Class versus having to create a RecentFileListDelegate RecentFileListController, RecentFileListDataSource class, etc, etc. Related to this can one define a class like: @interface FileListView : NSObject <UITableViewDelegate> <UITableViewController> <UITableViewDataSource { // code } @end or would I just do the work to make my class a delegate and controller in init()?

  • What's the best way to return different cells depending on position in a UITableView

    I have a grouped UITableView that has 3 sections and a number of cells in each section that each need to be a different custom cell, with different display requirements. I currently have a large if statement in cellForRowAtIndexPath, with each branch instantiating and returning the appropriate custom cell based on interrogating the indexPath's section and row properties. e.g. if (indexPath.section == 0 && indexPath.row == 0) { // instantiate and return cell A } else if (indexPath.section == 1 && indexPath.row == 2) { // instantiate and return cell B } //etc etc What is best practice for this scenario? A large if statement does the job, but is it the best implementation?
