  • Internet doesn't work by default

    After upgrading to Precise, I am required to run 'sudo dhclient eth0' in a terminal in order to get the internet to work. Everything worked perfectly fine on Oneiric, so It's really puzzling me. I'm thinking it could possibly be something with the kernel, but who knows.     I have a problem with rendering my html page by the same browsers in different OS. There are 3 spans and position of each span is corrected through css(position:relative). But I have found out that the page that looks correct in firefox under Linux, shows not right at the same firefox(3.5.7) under Windows OS.     Is it possible to display the WinForms "font picker" dialog non-modally? Or is there another font picker other than the standard one that can be used non-modally? Our application has many windows, and users who frequently need to interrupt what they are doing and switch to another window to look at something. This tends to lead to "buried dialog" scenarios with modal dialogs, where the UI is unresponsive, but it isn't immediately apparent why, because the modal dialog that has captured the focus is behind another window.

    Hi, I'm trying to render a web page, in QT 4.5, that uses an embedded font. Most of the time this works as expected. Unfortunately, sometimes I get really weird behaviour. The font is rendered - apparently - off-by-one. For instance the text: "By" woukd appear as "Cz" Has anyone run into this before? And - more importantly - knows how to fix this?

  • jQuery CSS plugin that returns computed style of element to pseudo clone that element?

    I'm looking for a way using jQuery to return an object of computed styles for the 1st matched element. I could then pass this object to another call of jQuery's css method. For example, with width, I can do the following to make the 2 divs have the same width: $('#div2').width($('#div1').width()); It would be nice if I could make a text input look like an existing span: $('#input1').css($('#span1').css()); where .css() with no argument returns an object that can be passed to .css(obj). (I can't find a jQuery plugin for this, but it seems like it should exist. If it doesn't exist, I'll turn mine below into a plugin and post it with all the properties that I use.) Basically, I want to pseudo clone certain elements but use a different tag. For example, I have an li element that I want to hide and put an input element over it that looks the same. When the user types, it looks like they are editing the element inline. I'm also open to other approaches for this pseudo cloning problem for editing. Any suggestions? Here's what I currently have. The only problem is just getting all the possible styles. It works well and behaves exactly like the original css method with one exception: if 0 args are passed, it returns the computed style object. As you can see, it immediately calls the original css method if that's the case that applies. Otherwise, it gets the computed styles of all the listed properties (gathered from Firebug's computed style list). Although it's getting a long list of values, it's quite fast. Hope it's useful to others.

But the instances of Label will not get its data members fill in. I have also tried to do this using plain variables (not properties). If they were filled in, the image would actually show "3" and "Text rad 1". So what do I put in the class "Label" to have the properties right? Should there be some kind of annotation? Where do I read about this?

I also get a very simmilar ExceptionBox when I want to open the solution's propertywindow: "Only TrueType fonts are supported. This is not a TrueType font." Has anyone experiences with this error?

  • create text inside a rectangle using inkscape

    I've put some text inside a rectangle using inkscape so the tree is like <svg:rect><svg:text><svg:tspan>text.... The problem is, I can't see the text. I've tried fiddling with the opacity of the rect to no avail. There should be a way of doing this from the UI? The web based css formatters out here seem to be based on CSSTidy which doesn't do what I want. I don't like this CSSTidy format: .example { font-size: 3em; } I want: .example { font-size: 3em; }

    Hi, I am trying to use dijit.InlineEditBox. It works, however it doesn't look so good. The widget has its own style, which doesn't fit my CSS. I used firebug to locate the source of the problem. The widget creates many nested div/span elements, each has it's own style (element style in firebug): <span id="dijit__InlineEditor_0" class="dijitReset dijitInline" style="margin: 0px; position: absolute; visibility: hidden; display: block; opacity: 0;" ...> <input type="text" autocomplete="off" class="dijit dijitReset dijitLeft dijitTextBox" id="dijit_form_TextBox_0" style="line-height: 20px; font-weight: 400; font-family: Trebuchet MS,Helvetica,Arial,Verdana; font-size: 14.5167px; font-style: normal; width: 100%;"> ...> </span></span> (showing only the relevant parts...) to get the visual that I want, which will not break to a newline, I need to change the width of dijit_form_TextBox_0** to 50%, and the positioning of dijit__InlineEditor_0 to display: inline**; or to change the positioning of everything (most of my layout is floated, so position: absolute doesn't fit) I cannot address those span elements in my css to change the properties, because the element.style has priority, of course. I don't understand the logic in this system... why is dijit generating the style directly inside the element? how can I change these properties? Thanks Tom
