    I have a Scala data structure created with the following: List(Map[String, Anyref]("a" -> someFoo, "b" -> someBar)) I would like to implicitly convert it (using scala.collection.JavaConversions or scala.collection.JavaConverters) to a java.util.List<java.util.Map<String, Object>> to be passed the a Java method that expects the latter. Is this possible? I have already created the following method that does it, but was wondering if it can be done automatically by the compiler? import scala.collection.JavaConversions._ def convertToJava(listOfMaps: List[Map[String, AnyRef]]): java.util.List[java.util.Map[String, Object]] = { asJavaList(listOfMaps.map(asJavaMap(_))) }

  • best way to output a full precision double into a text file

    Hi, I need to use an existing text file to store some very precise values. When read back in, the numbers essentially need to be exactly equivalent to the ones that were originally written. Now, a normal person would use a binary file... for a number of reasons, that's not possible in this case. So... do any of you have a good way of encoding a double as a string of characters (aside from increasing the precision). My first thought was to cast the double to a char[] and write out the chars. I don't think that's going to work because some of the characters are not visible, produce sounds, and even terminate strings ('\0'... I'm talkin to you!) Thoughts?

    Dear all, Hello Guys!! This is my first post in the forum . I am really looking forward to having good fun in this site. My question is : int mem_size = 10; char *start_ptr; if((start_ptr= malloc(mem_size*1024*1024*sizeof(char)))==NULL) {return -1;} I have allocated a chunk of memory of type char and size is say 10 MB (i.e mem_size = 10 ); Now I want to store the size information in the header of the memory chunk, To make myself more clear Lets Say : start_ptr = 0xaf868004 (This is the value I got from my execution, it changes every time) Now I want to put the size information in the start of this pointer.. i.e *start_ptr = mem_size*1024*1024; But I am not able to put this information in the start_ptr. I think the reason is because my ptr is of type char which only takes one byte but I am trying to store int which takes 4 bytes, is the problem . I am not sure how to fix this problem.. Compiler handles such convertions as errors and won't compile furthermore. It occurs only when I compile using Dev-C++ IDE, but when I compile the same code (using the compiler which Dev-C++ uses) such errors (even warnings) do not appears. How to mute errors of such types?

    I want to be able to present "today" and "yesterday" for recent dates in my application. I've got a date formatter in use currently to show dates (retrieved from data records) and will keep using this for anything more than a couple of days old. I just really like the way the SMS app in the iPhone shows dates for recent messages and would like to emulate this. The time-stamps that I have to work with are generated on a server that the phone downloads the data records from. All times are therefore generated at UTC (i.e. GMT) time. I've been fiddling about with this for a while the solutions I've devised just seem horribly long-winded. Can anyone suggest how to implement a method that could do this? Cheers - Steve.

In what way does it became different algorithmically from the C++ version?

    I have the following code: int main(void) { struct { int x; } a, b; struct { int x; } c; struct { int x; } *p; b = a; /* OK */ c = a; /* Doesn't work */ p = &a; /* Doesn't work */ return 0; } which fails to compile under GCC (3.4.6), with the following error: test.c:8: error: incompatible types in assignment test.c:9: warning: assignment from incompatible pointer type Now, from what I understand (admittedly from the C99 standard), is that a and c should be compatible types, as they fulfill all the criteria in section 6.2.7, paragraph 1. I've tried compiling with std=c99, to no avail. Presumably my interpretation of the standard is wrong?

    Can someone help me convert this to C#. I've already spent more time than I would have liked trying to do it myself and it's preventing me from actually getting any work done. I guess it seems like C# has a limitation regarding how one can define arrays. I think somewhere inside I have to keep doing new int[] but I'm not sure exactly where. The text file must contain title, description and keywords of the xml file without the tags and removing other elements and attributes as well.
