  I have a situation similar to the following question: Insert Data Into SQL Table Where my scenario differs is that I have a non-auto-incrementing primary key field that can have a range between 1000 and 1999. We only have about a hundred values in it thus far, but the maximum value has already been taken (1999), and there are gaps in the numbering sequence. Thus, I need to find a value that is between 1000-1999 and not taken. For instance, if my current values are, for example, 1000, 1001, 1003, and 1999, I would want the query to return 1002.

• Apache using 100% CPU, once again

  Recently, apache2 started using 100% of CPU power: top gives me From other, similar threads, I took the tip to use mod_status. Aside from HUGE amounts of NULL requests, it gives: CPU Usage: u2.16 s1.32 cu0 cs0 - .0835% CPU load 1.2 requests/sec - 17.6 kB/second - 14.6 kB/request 8 requests currently being processed, 42 idle workers The access and error logs do not show anything surprising or intriguing at all. Note the .8% CPU usage. Another tip was to use strace: root@server:~# strace -p 1956 Process 1956 attached - interrupt to quit restart_syscall(<... resuming interrupted call ...> And remains like this for at least half an hour, without producing any additional output. Restarting apache fixed the problem for less than a second The server runs a few custom python scripts aswell as a django-powered website on apache2 (up-to-date), but even turning the scripts off (or not having them active in the first place) did not change anything. After I stopped apache and powered my server off, powered it on a few minutes afterwards and restarted all my services, the CPU usage remained low for several hours, just in order to pop up again randomly (?) The DigitalOcean CPU stats on my server are: You can see how the CPU usage was super high for almost half a day until I restarted the bot - just to remain stable for several hours and then pop up again. I am completely at a loss of words and don't know what I could do to find out what piece of my code is giving me these problems or if apache itself is the cause... Therefore I would greatly appreciate any hints to the questions: What else can I try to do? Which things might I not have checked? Is this definitely in my own code? How do you find what part of python code crashes an app via a infinite loop or similar?

  I am learning JPA and have confusion in the @SequenceGenerator annotation. Upto my understanding, it automatically assigns a value to numeric identity fields/properties of an entity. Q1. Does this sequence generator make use of the database's increasing numeric value generating capability or generates the number on his own? Q2. If JPA uses database auto increement feauture, then will it work with datastores that don't have auto increement feature? Q3. If JPA generate numeric value on his own, then how the JPA implementation knows which value to generate next? Does it consult with the database first to see what value was stored last so as to generate the value (last + 1). ====================================================================================== Q4. Please also throw some light on sequenceName and allocationSize properties of @SequenceGenerator annotation.

• MySQL: Is it possible to return a "mixed" dataset?

  Hi, I'm wondering if there's some clever way in MySQL to return a "mixed/balanced" dataset according to a specific criterion? To illustrate, let's say that there are potential results in a table that can be of Type 1 or Type 2 (i.e. a column has a value 1 or 2 for each record). Is there a clever query that would be able to directly return results alternating between 1 and 2 in sequence: 1st record is of type 1, 2nd record is of type 2, 3rd record is of type 1, 4th record is of type 2, etc... Apologies if the question is silly, just looking for some options. Of course, I could return any data and do this in PHP, but it does add some code. Thanks.

• Are there issues with tables using an autonumber as a primary key in a back-end ms access db?

  I inherited an MS Access database at my office that is heavily used by several people over the network. This causes many issues with data collisions and locks. I want to split the db so that each user has thier own front-end app and maintain the core data on the server. Several of the tables use an autonumber:sequence:long as thier primary key - in researching how to perform the split I've come across several posts that hint this can cause issues when distributing a database but I haven't been able to find anything solid. The issue seems to be that a user can begin a new record and receive the next autonumber but a second user can create a new record within a short interval and receive the same autonumber resulting in an error? Does Jet handle this correctly or are there autonumber issues with a FE/BE database? If it's an unlikely-but-possile occurance I'm sure it will still be much better than what my users are currently experiencing but I'd like to know if there are ways I can minimize such issues.   I am trying to create a jMeter test to login to wordpress and post a new blog on a local installation of wordpress. Recorded wordpress login sequence using the recorder. Added cookie manager to the test plan. However I am not able to login to wordpress. I tried all the possible of combination of Cookie policy and Implementation settings for Cookie manager, but it did not help. When I recorded against the publicly hosted wordpress, the login did not succeed, but the response had an error saying that your browser have not enabled cookies. I am using jMeter 2.11 on Windows 7.

• Serial numbers generation without user data

  This is a followup to this question. The accepted answer is generally sufficient, but requires user to supply personal information (e.g. name) for generating the key. I'm wondering if it's possible to generate different keys based on a common seed, in a way that program would be able to validate if those keys belong to particular product, but without making this process obvious to the end user. I mean it could be a hash of product ID plus some random sequence of characters, but that would allow user to guess potential new keys. There should be some sort of algorithm difficult to guess.

• Flash Sprite looses focus on MOUSE_DOWN event

  My Sprite class keeps losing focus when I click with the mouse - specifically after the MOUSE_DOWN event (before the click is complete). I have set mouseEnabled to false on the children, no change. I added a listener for FOCUS_OUT and noticed that the FocusEvent.relatedObject property is NULL, which is confusing me - doesn't that mean there is no new focus target, the focus is just getting lost? • Using fixtures with factory_girl

  When building the following factory: Factory.define :user do |f| f.sequence(:name) { |n| "foo#{n}" } f.resume_type_id { ResumeType.first.id } end ResumeType.first returns nil and I get an error. ResumeType records are loaded via fixtures. I checked using the console and the entries are there, the table is not empty. I've found a similar example in the factory_girl mailing list, and it's supposed to work. What am I missing? Do I have to somehow tell factory_girl to set up the fixtures before running the tests?

• An MP3 parser to extract numbered frames?

  I am writing a streaming application for MP3 (CBR). It is all passthru, meaning I don't have to decode/encode, I just need to pass on the data as I see it come through. I want to be able to count the MP3 frames as they passthru (and some other stuff like throughput calculations). According to the MP3 frame header spec, the sync word appears to be 11 bits of 1s, however I notice (naturally) that the frame payload which I should safely assume to be binary and thus it is not odd at all to see 11 1s in sequence. My questions: Is there a Unix/Linux MP3 parser utility (dd-style) that can pull numbered frames from an MP3 file/pipe? Any perl wisdom here? How does one delineate an MP3 header block from any other binary payload data? and lastly: Is a constant bitrate (CBR) MP3 defined by payload bytes or are the header bytes included in the aggregate # of bytes/bits per any given timeslice?   My app offers the user the opportunity to put an event in his native calendar. For that, I refer to an online webcal:// URL. Since the underlying .ics file is quite big (containing quite a few events), it sometimes (also depending on the network performance)takes a while before the "Do you want to subscribe"-dialog sequence kicks in. I would like to give the user some feedback in the mean time, like a spinner, or a changing graphic, for him to know that something is going to happen. Question: how does my app know, that the "Do you want to subscribe"-dialog has been shown, and that the user has chosen either a Cancel of OK button in that dialog, so I can stop the spinner?

• GetWindowLongPtr fails if called when handling WM_CREATE

  Calling the GetWindowLongPtr function for a dialog box with the DWL_USER parameter fails when done from the WM_CREATE handler. It gives no error (checked that, the return value is always zero), which, according to the MSDN documentation, occurs only if SetWindowLongPtr has not been called previously. However, I call it after registering the window class, and properly call the SetWindowPos after that. Finally, calling GetWindowLongPtr in any other event handler, that is, later than WM_CREATE, works fine. Is there something I'm missing in the initialization sequence, or maybe the messages are sent in some not so obvious order?

  I've got a variable list of associative arrays that I want to iterate through and retrieve their key/value pairs. I iterate through a single associative array by listing all its keys and getting the values, ie. for key in "${!queue1[@]}" do echo "key : $key" echo "value : ${queue1[$key]}" done The tricky part is that the names of the associative arrays are variable variables, e.g. given count = 5, the associative arrays would be named queue1, queue2, queue3, queue4, queue5. I'm trying to replace the sequence above based on a count, but so far every combination of parentheses and eval has not yielded much more then bad substitution errors. e.g below: for count in {1,2,3,4,5} do for key in "${!queue${count}[@]}" do echo "key : $key" echo "value : ${queue${count}[$key]}" done done Help would be very much appreciated!

• Framework/tool for processing C++ unit tests with numerical output

  Hi, I am working on a C++ application that uses computer vision techniques to identify various types of objects in a sequence of images. The (1000+) images have been hand-classified, so we have an XML file for each image containing a description of where the objects are actually located in the images. I would like to know if there is a testing framework that can understand/graph results from tests that are numeric, in this case some measure of the error in the program's classification of the images, rather than just pass/fail style unit tests. We would like to use something like CDash/CTest for running these automated tests, and viewing over time how improvements to the vision algorithms are causing the images to be more correctly classified. Does anyone know of a tool/framework that can do this?
