• Custom Button in Google Chrome?

  Is there a way to add a custom button in Google Chrome? I hate all the "Send to Instapaper" extensions in the web store, and love how the bookmarklet works, but I can't stand not having a favicon. Ideally, I'd just add a custom button next to the spanner in the top right, but I can't figure out how to do this. Even installing a custom extension would be fine, so if someone can point me in the right direction for that, that'd be great. • Secure login for Firefox alternatives

  For some reason, Secure Login 0.9.3. on FF 3.5.4. is relatively buggy (it randomly stops working saying it is not compatible, but continues to work after I uninstall it and reinstall afterwards ... then it stops working after some time. No new extensions were added in the meantime; just BitDefender was installed on the system ... not sure whether he has something to do with it.). What would be good alternatives to it (except RoboForm) which give the same behaviour ? All ideas welcomed.

• Installing Wordpress - constant PHP/MySQL extension appears missing

  I've got Win2003 w/IIS6, PHP 5 and MySQL installed. I can confirm PHP is installed correctly because I have a testMe.php that runs properly. When I run the Wordpress setup, I get informed that Your PHP installation appears to be missing the MySQL extension which is required by WordPress. But in my PHP.ini in the DYNAMIC EXTENSIONS section I have extension=php_mysql.dll extension=php_mysqli.dll I verified that mysql.dll and libmysql.dll are both in my PHP directory. I copied my libmysql.dll to the C:\Windows\System32 directory. When I try to run the initial setup for WordPress, I get this answer. I've Googled setting this up, and everything comes down to the above. I'm missing something, but none of the instructions that I've found online seem to cover whatever that is.

  Ubuntu recently crashed , causing it's partition damaged ( which is EXT4) and Ubuntu was unable to boot , because it couldn't mount anything , only displays Busybox So I used the Live CD to run fsck on the partition, which fixed it , but deleted some nodes Now Ubuntu is working , but some files were missing , for example I lost the Panels configurations and Chromium's Extensions The Most Annoying problem , that there is some files corrupted , for example when I try to install any program, I got this (Reading database ... 95%dpkg: unrecoverable fatal error, aborting: files list file for package 'libservlet2.4-java' is missing final newline I tried these commands dpkg --configure -a apt-get -f install and from GUI , Synaptic Package Manager Fix Broken Packages So this file "libservlet2.4-java" Does anyone knows what it does ! and where it's location ? and how can I fix/get-correct-version-of it ? Also , is there any way I could tell Ubuntu to Check for ALL it's file , and if there is something corrupted it should recover it form the CD ?

• How can I send a Wake on Wireless LAN (WoWLAN) / Wake on Demand request manually?

  This is similar to, but not the same as, http://serverfault.com/questions/1721/is-wireless-wake-on-lan-possible. I know it is supposed to be possible. The question is, how do I do whatever the AirPort Basestation will do? All I can find so far is that supposedly I need to send something with Wireless Multimedia Extensions (WMM): Basically, I want to be able to wake up my Mac Mini remotely, probably using my Linux laptop. Does anyone know of a tool to do this? Basic Wake on LAN tools do not seem to be the right thing. I don't need the Sleep Proxy Service bit, because I already know the MAC address of the system I want to wake up.

• freebsd does not recognise that php was installed via ports

  I have php 5.2.12 installed on FreeBSD 8.0-STABLE. It was installed from ports and I am trying to upgrade it to 5.3.2. However for some reason my system is not recognising that php was installed via ports. When I run "pkg_version" the list does not include php it does however include all the extensions that I have installed. I have even tried to do "make deinstall" on "/usr/ports/lang/php5" it told me that the port had been deinstalled but php still appears to be working correctly i.e "php -v" works any ideas on how this port has become de attached from the ports system? and how I can get the ports system to recognise that it installed php?

• Error burning DVD using Devede on Ubuntu 9.04

  I'm trying to burn a DVD in DeVeDe under ubuntu -- on my computer it's already in DVD format (a VIDEO_TS folder) but when I try and drag it into DeVeDe it says "Some files weren't video files. None added." From looking at it, all the files look like they belong there, just from doing this a few times already and seeing all the files contained in a DVD. The file extensions in the folder are: VOB BUP IFO and the files are all named like VTS_02_1.VOB. I have tried excluding the IFO files when dragging them into DeVeDe but get the same error. Is the problem in the types of files in the DVD data or is the DVD corrupt?

  I'm using the newest version of Gmail, as far as I know, and there used to be the option in Settings - Labels that said "Show in IMAP" next to label/folder names. This option is no longer there, unfortunately. How do I hide specific labels/folders, e.g. All Mail, from Thunderbird, my IMAP client? In both Firefox 17.0 and Chromium 20.0.1132.47 on Ubuntu 12.04, without an extensions, these options do not appear, so it doesn't appear to be a browser issue. In the past, I had to enable "Advanced IMAP Controls" in Settings - Labs for the "Show in IMAP" controls to appear, but according to this post, those controls "graduated" and should appear under Settings- Labels. What can I do to show or hide specific folders in IMAP?

• Google Chrome freezing when I open Bookmark Manager

  I have an issue with Google Chrome freezing whenever I open the Bookmark Manager. Only that particular tab freezes, and I can still use the other tabs. No bookmarks appear, and I cannot type in the 'Search bookmarks' field. This seems to be related with my logged in profile. If I change profile, it allows me to login. I've also tried to login with my profile on different computers using Chrome, and it also freezes. However, I can still add bookmarks from the bookmarks tab. I just cannot use the Bookmark Manager. Any ideas what I can do? Is it possible to somehow export my bookmarks, reset the profile bookmarks (without losing other information like extensions etc), and re-import them?

  I have a file explorer shell extension called "Copy File Path" or "Copy Folder Path", depending on which pane I am in in file explorer, which copies the full path of a file or a folder to the clipboard. Because it's very handy for me, I use it many times during the day. To make it more productive, I would like to assign a function key to it instead of using the right mouse click context menu, looking for it in the menu (big menu because of many extensions) and selecting it. The way I want to use it is select the file with the mouse and hit the function key. Is there a utility or tool, tray taskmaybe, which can add this functionality to Windows?

• MacBook not connecting anywhere via VPN

  I was wondering if someone could help me troubleshoot this issue. I have a handful of VPNs set up on my MacBook (Snow Leopard) which I know are working, but today when I tried to use them I get the following error in all cases: could not find the PPP kernel extension I have not needed to use any VPN for a while but they have worked in the past and there is nothing I can think of that I have changed on this machine. I have looked in System/Library/Extensions and PPP.kext is there which is the file I thought it would be looking for? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• Viability of Apache (MPM Worker), FastCGI PHP 4/5.2/5.3, and MySQL 5

  My server will be hosting numerous PHP web applications ranging from Joomla, Drupal, and some legacy (read: PHP4) and other custom-built code inherited from clients. This will be a development machine used by a dozen or so web developers and issues like fluctuating loads or particularly high load expectations are not important. Now, my question: are there any concerns I should know about when using Apache w/ MPM Worker, PHP 4/PHP 5.2/PHP 5.3 (all via FastCGI), and MySQL 5 (with a query cache of 64MB)? I have not tested the various applications extensively and I have only recently learned how to install PHP and utilize it via FastCGI (rather than mod_php, which in this case seemed impossible (considering the multiple versions of PHP and the desire to use MPM Worker over MPM Prefork)). I have come to understand that there could be concerns regarding XCache and APC, namely non-thread-safety issues where data becomes corrupted and the capability to use MPM Worker becomes null and void. Is this a valid concern? I have been using my personal testing server (running Ubuntu Server Edition 10.04 in VirtualBox) which has 2GB of RAM available to it. • How can OpenGL graphics be displayed remotely using VNC?

  I am attempting to run a program that uses OpenGL to render a model in a viewport through VNC unsuccessfully. The error message I receive is - Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":1.0". It was my understanding that VNC can be configured to render all graphics remotely and send a compressed screen grab from the display buffer to the local client. This would seem to negate the need for GLX extensions on the local client. Can VNC be configured this way and could you briefly describe how? • Apache 2.0.55/PHP 5.3.5 Hangs

  Recently inherited a Windows 2k3 server running XAMPP, including ancient copies of PHP, MySQL and Apache. I'm attempting to install a second, up-to-date PHP installation on the machine so I can reference that in future instead of XAMPP's old one. Apache starts up with this new PHP installation happily. Unfortunately, when Apache references the new PHP install, whenever I try a view a page (even a non-PHP page) it hangs. The server simply doesn't respond to any HTTP request - it doesn't crash either. It just sits there with the connection open. There are no errors/warnings/notices in either the PHP or Apache logs. I've pretty much ruled out PHP's extensions (by process of systematic elimination) and most of the INI settings. I've tried reinstalling PHP from scratch. The PHP installation is PHP 5.3.5 x86 thread-safe compiled w/ VC6. The Apache installation is Apache 2.0.55. Anyone encountered similar behaviour?

• After installing Apache, PHP and MySQL I can't add extension to php.ini without Apache error

  I have Windows XP OS. Installed Apache 2.2.14, then PHP 5.2.12 (tested with phpinfo.php - IT'S WORKS!) Then I installed MySQL 5.1. And now, when I add extension = php_mysql.dll to php.ini and restart server, Apache tells me that he can't start (small window with "The requested operation has failed"). Even if I add only extension = *smth*.dll --- the same thing. Apache just don't love my extensions. How to prove him, that they are cool and stuff? Thanks.

One of the "nice to have" features would be the ability to pause or lower the volume on the office jukebox if an incoming call is detected. We currently run a linux jukebox which plays music out of the speakers using mpd and can be controlled by the mpc client. We can manually issue the following command to achieve this: mpc volume 20 Does anyone know how to get asterisk to execute this command or some action that we could hook into when a phone call is incoming to specific extensions?

• Moving from Analogue PBX to digital VoIP?

  I don't even know if this belongs here?. If not, do let me know. So we have an analogue Alkatel PABX system in our little office. We have extensions, direct lines and PBX lines. We are trying to move to a more digital/flexible way of handling the phones and I've heard good things about FreeSwitch. I have zero knowledge about it. My biggest question is how would one handle existing phone lines with such a system. Surely there must be a way to make and receive calls from outside. • Can't change Hyper Terminal Hardware Settings

  Anyone here any good with Hyperterminal? Am having a nightmare trying to use it at work to update our telephone extensions. The company who supply our PABX box have told me that XP does strange things to Hyperterminal and that I should use Win2k. Which I did with the same result. I have narrowed the problem dowwn to the Hardware Settings for the connection in Hyper Terminal. No matter what I set (and I need 7E1) it defaults back to 8N1. Has anyone seen this behaviour before and know of a simple way around it? (Apart from buying a more expensive commercial version of Hyper Terminal, as suggested by our support people). Edit: I should point out I have to connect via a phone line so a direct serial connection is not an option. Cheers Tim
