• check what process was causing the problem of high cpu load

  I'm running nginx wordpress server in KVM using 12.04 server x86. It was running very well about 4 month until 2 hours ago. I found that my website is down and no ping response. Virt-manager logged high cpu load(plz see the picture below) before unexpected shut down. I want to know what process caused unexpected shutdown. The following log files make me think my server is attacked. Any suggestions and help would be appreciated. kern.log and syslog showed me same output. • Not able to change flash settings

  My Gnome crashes constantly when I open web pages containing flash so I tried to turn off the hardware acceleration. I opened the Adobe flash player settings panel but found that the buttons are not clickable. I can still switch between display/privacy/storage.. panels using TAB and ENTER key. But for others like the "Enable hardware acceleration" checkbox this won't work. Anyone knows how to solve it? Thanks.

• Exchange 2013 Virtual Machine: Backup just mailboxes and clear logs

  I have a Windows Server 2012 machine running Exchange 2013 running as a KVM virtual machine. For my VM guests, I do full image based backups from the host, so that I can quickly restore to any host server simply by copying over the disk image files. This means I don't need a nightly full system backup. That being said, without running a VSS Full Backup, the Exchange logs get massive (Specifically, the performance logs which are 500MB a day). In addition, I would also like to have a nightly backup of just the mail database. What is the best way to accomplish this? A full backup of the C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15 folder as I found in one tutorial did not clear out the logs. Thanks, Ben

• Using RTL languages with MS Office in Wine 1.4

  I've installed MS Office 2007 in Ubuntu 12.04 using Wine 1.4 with no problems, and it works fine with the English Language. However, I need to use it to work with Arabic and Hebrew, and it doesn't work when I switch to a Hebrew or Arabic keyboard. The typing gets reversed. I saw an earlier post for something similar, but it is closed and I think it was for the earlier Wine 1.3. Supposedly Wine 1.4 has added RTL -- is there a way to get it working?

  I know many of you have been working on Oracle's Exalogic and other Engineered Systems. With partitions enabled now, things have gone multi dimension. But its fun. Isn't it ? While you have some EoIB configurations together with InfiniBand partitions, the VNICs are not coming up and staying in WAIT-VHUB state ?  Chances are that you have forgot to add InfiniBand Gateway switches' Bridge-X port GUIDs to your partition. These must be added as FULL members for EoIB to work properly. VHUB means a virtual hub in EoIB. Bridge-x is the access point for hosts to work over EoIB so thats why it must be a full member in partition. • Jupiter Changes Display when using volume key bindings

  I recently downloaded jupiter on ubuntu 12.04 ASUS U36JC and I noticed that my display would switch from clone to exterior to clone everytime that I used the keys that control the volume. Hit "function volume down" and the screen goes blank, hit "function volume up" and the display come back. This only happens when I am running jupiter and I assume there is a key binding issue, but I don't know how to fix it. No options other than the regular ones show up in the keyboard settings under system tools.

• Problem using Skype Screenshare on dual monitors

  I am on Ubuntu 12.04 and when using the screenshare feature of Skype 4.0 on a single monitor I dont have an issue. However as soon as i switch to using dual monitors and try to set up a screenshare, it doesn't work. Does anyone know if this is a known bug in the Skype app? Thanks. Apparently Skype's log files are encrypted, and they recommend just sending the log files to them so that they can determine how to resolve the issue.

• Debian date jumping, causing complete lockup

  I have a Debian Squeeze VM that has suddenly chosen to jump it's date forwards just over a month, which seems to confuse it no end and cause it to require a hard reset (yikes!). There is nothing unusual in the logs, except that the datestamp suddenly jumps (today back to 2005). It's happened three times, so I don't think it's to do with the leap second issue as the last one of those was in July. When it happened once I spent ages checking stuff but could not find anything, decided to forget it. But three times is becoming an issue on a production server. • Deafault password for hp c7000 blade servers.

  Has anybody worked on hp c7000 blade servers before. I have just ordered them and brought them on network. I tried logging in from web browser but I do not have the default password to log in. User guide says default password is provided with the tag supplied with the KVM module but I did not find any such tag. I am also working with hp customer care but it's taking too much time. So posted here to get some quick help from you guys. Thanks!

• Misadventures at Radio Shack

  While I'm waiting for my Arduino kits to show up, I started reading the Getting Started With Arduino book from O'Reilly (review coming later) and I'm about 40 pages in when I get to a parts list for one of the first projects. Looks pretty straightforward, and even has Radio Shack part numbers next to almost everything. So on my lunch today, I decided to run out to "The Shack" (seriously, that's their rebranding?) to pick up some basics, like a couple resistors, a breadboard, a momentary switch and a pack of pre-cut jumper wires. I found the resistors without any difficulty, and while they didn't have the exact switch I wanted, it was easy enough to find one that would do. That's where my good luck abruptly ended. I was surprised that I couldn't find a breadboard or any jumper wires, so while I was looking around, a guy came up and asked me if I needed some help. I told him I did, explained what I needed and even gave him the Radio Shack part number for the pack of jumper wires. After a couple minutes he says he can't find anything in the system, which was unfortunate but not the end of the world.  So then I asked him about the breadboard, and he pointed me to some blank circuitboards (which are not the same thing) and I said (nicely) that those weren't breadboards and attempted to explain (again) what I needed, at which point he says to me "I don't even know what the hell you're looking for!" I stood there for a moment and tried to process his words. About that time, another salesperson came up and asked what I was trying to find. I told her I needed a breadboard, and she pointed to the blank circuit boards and said "they're right in front of you..." After seeing the look on my face, she thought for a minute and said... "OH! you mean those white things. We don't have those anymore." I thanked her, set everything down on the counter and left. (I wasn't going to buy only half the stuff I needed.. and I was pretty sure I was never going to be buying ANYTHING at that particular location ever again.) Guess I'll be ordering more stuff online at this point. It's a shame really, because I used to LOVE going to Radio Shack as a kid, and looking through all the cool electronics components and stuff, even if I didnt understand what most of them were at the time. Seems like the only thing they carry in any quantity/variety now is cell phones and random stereo connectors.

• dist-upgrade of diskless ubuntu

  I am currently PXE booting a bunch a machine, via the diskless function in ubuntu. What is the best practice when upgrading the image from 10.04 LTS to 12.04 LTS? I've currently made a copy of the image with cp -arpv to ensure that i can switch back to the old image, if something is wrong in the new image. However do-release-upgrade is not available in the diskeless image. Any good ideas on what to do? Best regards.

At the moment I've got an Excel spreadsheet with worksheets for third-party software, licenses, and the projects we use them on (organized like a relational database). It seems to work OK, but I think it will go out-of-date pretty quickly.

  Possible Duplicate: Is there a way to add Mozilla Thunderbird to the messaging menu? Hi, After installing ubuntu I setup my email in evolution, which is fine but on balance I prefer Thunderbird so I installed and set that up. Under preferred applications I have set the mail to Thunderbird, but when I click on the icon in the top right (the mail envelope) and select mail it still loads evolution. Is there a way to switch this to Thunderbird?

• Ubuntu 12.04 freeze on Ctrl+ALT+F1

  I have Radeon card connected over HDMI to my TV. To resolve bug with HDMI-sound, I switch between virtual terminal and GNOME desktop each time the TV is switched on with CTRL+ALT+F1 and after console appear with CTRL+ALT+F7. It's ugly, but its worked for me. Since yesterday I got system freezes on CTRL+ALT+F1 - no reaction on keyboard, mouse pointer disappear at all, GNOME desktop still displayed. Probably has nothing to do with HDMI. Any suggestion how to resolve it?

• Ubuntu Server and setting up two nic cards

  I have ubuntu server on a computer with a wireless and hardwired nic card. The wireless needs to get the internet and pass it to the ubuntu server as well as pass it along to the hardwired nic card to more computers. I am having issues getting the basic set up as I believe the route table is grabbing from the wrong nic card. The router is 192.168.1.0 and the server is set to 192.168.1.11 on the wireless card through DHCP ETH0 (wired nic card) is set up to be 10.10.10.0 and the server is 10.10.10.1) I am not a linux or networking guru but basically I am trying to have internet come from a guest network 192.168.1.0 i believe to give internet to the ubuntu server then the ubuntu server will also A) have the wired nic serve DHCP addresses to other computers via a switch or router (that acts as a switch) via 10.10.10.0 addresses. And I would love if it also passed along internet capabilities as well if possible. Bu really at this point my hope is to at least get the internet working on the server and the DHCP to pass correctly. At the moment the specific issue I am having is getting ubuntu server to connect to the internet and have both nic cards up and running correctly. Any help would be appreciated! • Can't run Ubuntu from disc

  When I place the boot CD in my CD drive and boot from it, I get the Ubuntu menu. I have these options Try Ubuntu without any change to your computer Install Ubuntu Check disc for defects Test memory Boot from first hard disk I can use the cursor keys to select them, and I can push F1 for help etc. However, I can not select an option. I've highlighted the first and tried enter, space bar etc. I do have a KVM, so I plugged in a 2nd USB keyboard and tried it but no go either. I can push escape and then got to the prompt. Am I doing something wrong?

I then installed qt4 libraries and qt creator 271: sudo apt-get install build-essentials sudo apt-get install libqt4-dev sudi apt-get install qtcreator Both installed successfully, and i can launch qt creator, but then i get a black window when i switch to "examples" or "development": http://i.imgur.com/koi6S9S.png The windows cannot be closed.   I had hoped that solaar would help, but it seems to only work for the Logitech wireless devices that use Logitech's proprietary scheme. I have Bluetooth keyboard (K760). I know it can be told to use the function keys (rather than the media keys) by default because I can do it on under OS X with software from Logitech. Just remapping the keys won't work as F1, F2, and F3 are special in that they switch which Bluetooth device I connect to and the keys are not sent to the OS.

  I have setup a dragonflyBSD NFS server and a windows 2008 NFS client(it's in the linux-KVM). The dragonflyBSD exports file like this: /tank -mapall=root windows-client and i setup my windows 2008 a NFS client all right. There is my win cmd to mount NFS. mount \\dragonfly-server\tank e:\ After finished my configuration. I found the windows client can mount the remote tank partition. And i can create a file or a dir. But when i try to delete the file i just create. It alerts permission deny. You must have the permission.And the same result when i try to write to the text i create in the NFS partition I don't know why i just can create the file through NFS, but can't do any thing else. Is there any body can help?

• After locking the screen in Ubuntu 14.04, password is not accepted, How can it be fixed?

  I'm running Ubuntu 14.04 fully updated on my laptop. Since the last update every time I lock the screen (when leaving my room for example) - when I get back and input my password, it is not accepted even though it's the correct password, the error I get is: Password incorrect, please try again I found that clicking the "Switch Account" fixes the issue but it is very annoying, if you know any way to fix it, it would be nice.
