  • Rails functional testing without migrations

    - by Brian D.
The name pretty much says it all. Does anyone know how to accomplish functional testing when you are not using migrations in Rails? I'd be open to any advice or third party libraries (if there are any). I thought of creating my own plugin to address this but it seems like a pretty big task and would rather not do this unless necessary. Thanks in advance.

  • ASP .NET 4.0 How do I Redirect/Override the default CDN path for ScriptManager when EnableCDN=true

    - by plattnum
I am using the EnableCdn=true in my ScriptManager so that WebResource.axd and ScriptResource.axd are overridden with static links to JS libraries at the MS CDN service as follows: <asp:ScriptManager ID="ScriptManager1" runat="server" EnableCdn="true" /> How do I override the CDN URLs or service so that I can retrieve the scripts over HTTPS from the MS CDN service rather than HTTP to avoid the browser mixed mode message? or for that matter a different or my own CDN service entirely.

  • Microsoft Public License in commercial Silverlight application?

    - by badra
I'm developing a commercial silverlight application using some third party libraries that are published under Microsoft Public License (MPL). I have to include the license text into my product which is somewhat strange in an silverlight application. In a normal desktop application I would just include the license als a .txt but I've no idea how to do it in silverlight without including in in an about dialog or something similar. Are there any other issues involved which I missed?

  • How to avoid MissingMethodException?

    - by Dimitri C.
If .NET 3.5 is installed, but not .NET 3.5 SP1, WaitHandle.WaitOne(int) throws a MissingMethodException. I'd like to be notified earlier on if the correct version of the .NET libraries is not available, for example when the application is started. Is this possible? Update: So my question question is twofold: a) How can I determine which version of the .NET library is required by an application? b) How can I determine the currently installed version of the .NET library?

  • Create a CSR in C# using an explicit RSA key-pair

    - by rlandster
Using the OpenSSL libraries one can create a CSR (certificate signing request) by doing this: openssl genrsa -out rsa.key 1024 openssl req -new -key rsa.key -out output.csr -config config.txt where config.txt contains the distinguished name to use in the certificate. I would like to do something similar under Windows using C#. However, the method createPKCS10 does not require you to supply an RSA key. Is there a way to get C# to generate an explicit RSA private key and then use that private key to create the CSR?

  • Python 3.1 twitter post with installed library,

    - by Andrew
I'd like to be able to post twitter messages from python 3.0. None of the twitter API I have looked at support python 3.1. Since the post proceedure only requires this : JSON: curl -u username:password -d status="your message here" http://api.twitter.com/1/statuses/update.json I was wondering if it is possible with the standard libraries to format this so a message could be sent. My head says it should be possible.

  • Unable to install gem "pg" on Ubuntu 12.10 (AMD64)

    - by Lynx_Eyes
I've been (unsuccessfully) trying to install the "pg" gem on my ruby 1.9.3-p286 but nothing seems to work. I've already installed postgresql (9.1), libpq-dev and a few others like postgresql-server-dev-9.1. I've tried to pass the "with-pg-config" flag to the gem install but simply nothing seems to work. Every time I try to install the gem it outputs something like this: Building native extensions. This could take a while... ERROR: Error installing pg: ERROR: Failed to build gem native extension. /home/lynux/.rvm/rubies/ruby-1.9.3-p286/bin/ruby extconf.rb checking for pg_config... yes Using config values from /usr/bin/pg_config checking for libpq-fe.h... yes checking for libpq/libpq-fs.h... yes checking for pg_config_manual.h... yes checking for PQconnectdb() in -lpq... no checking for PQconnectdb() in -llibpq... no checking for PQconnectdb() in -lms/libpq... no Can't find the PostgreSQL client library (libpq) *** extconf.rb failed *** Could not create Makefile due to some reason, probably lack of necessary libraries and/or headers. Thank you in advance. [EDIT] Ok, so joelparkerhenderson's answer set me to think that there might me something wrong with paths and libraries and a went on digging a little bit further.. I've found this awesome post and it solved! Basically the problem lies with RVM. So, my problem is solved and for anyone out there that might suffer from the same thing, follow the link!

  • Meta Search Engine Architecture

    - by Loki
The question wasn't clear enough, I think; here's an updated straight to the point question: What are the common architectures used in building a meta search engine and is there any libraries available to build that type of search engine? I'm looking at building an "enterprise" type of search engine where the indexed data could be coming from proprietary (like Autonomy or a Google Box) or public search engines (like Google Web or Yahoo Web).

  • What are the limitations of a STA thread in compare to MTA threads ?

    - by Xaqron
If we make a thread STA like this: Thread.SetApartmentState(STA); then it cannot run code marked with [MTAThread] attribute. We have seen [STAThread] in windows and console applications but I have never seen code with [MTAThread] attribute and don't know which .NET libraries use this attribute. My question is what are the limitations of a thread with apartment state set to STA, in compare to threads with MTA apartment state (natural .NET threads) ?

  • What's the best way of playing media files (esp. audio) with Mono/C#?

    - by supercheetah
I'm trying to create something that will be playing some sound and music for some things in Mono+C#, but I'm not sure what the best thing will be for that. I'm trying to make it usable with things like Ogg Vorbis, MP3s, and wave files. My primary platform will be Linux, although a cross platform solution would be nice. Anyone have any suggestions for libraries for playing audio files?

  • How to crop scanned image using C#?

    - by ieaglle
I have a scanned image of a book page and i need to crop this scan for leaving only page area. I tried to use AForge to detect page borders, but it doesn't work because the space which i need to crop may consist of little "light" areas (due to scanner quality) and edge detector detects borders there. That's why this is bad idea as for me. Could you recommend something? P.S. Please don't tell me to use non-free libraries.

  • Any C/C++ to non-native bytecode compiler/interpreters?

    - by Matt
As the title indicates, are there any C/C++ bytecode compilers/interpreters? I'm writing an application in an interpreted language that depends on certain libraries that are fully cross-compilable (there are no special flags to indicate code changes during compilation for a certain platform) but are written in C and C++. Rather than shipping n-platform-specific-libs with each platform, it would be nice to ship one set of libs which are interpreted by one platform specific interpreter. Possible and/or available?

  • How to write a package (developed on Ubuntu 9.10) for installation on a Debian server

    - by Stick it to THE MAN
I have written a number of applications and libraries (some of which depend on third party libraies), on my home workstation (Ubuntu 9.10). I now want to create packages (one package per application/library), so that I may then install them on my server, which will be running Debian OS. Any guidelines/gotchas on how to go about creating installation packages for debian on Ubuntu?
