• What mail application is closest to Outlook functionnalities besides default Mail?

  I am looking for a application under Mac OS X that would have most of Outlook (Windows) functionnalities, mainly mail (including rules and tagging), calendar, contacts and Echange 2007+ integration (not using pop or imap)... Anybody got that? I don't want to have to wait for Outlook 2011 which is rumored to arrived... in 2011! Thanks.

• GIMP: Slightly wrong color when saving images

  When I create a new image, fill it with a single color, and save it as *.png or *.jpeg, it gets a slightly wrong color. When I save it as *.gif, the color is correct. Does this have something to do with a color profile? How can I turn it off? (Gimp 2.6.7 on Mac) BTW, when I use "Digital Color Meter" to check the color in the GIMP window, I also get a wrong value - but that value is again a little bit different.

  Hi I need to control a Windows 7 PC via VNC from a Mac in an office LAN. Since the IPs are dynamically assigned, I'd like the PC to appear in my "Places" and in the automatically detected nearby servers in VNC client I'm using -- both of which require the PC to advertise its VNC server via Samba (right?). I tried installing ultravnc, which works when I access it directly by IP, but it doesn't seem to advertise itself in the network. Any ideas?

  I have a mac that is hooked into a sound board, I have external sound card that interfaces between the computer and the soundboard, this works great. However, whenever the computer restarts it sets the input & output to the 'internal microphone' and the 'built in output'. I'd like to default to the other soundcard. How can I do this? • Only a Macs can connect to WIFI with WPA-Personal security on.

  I have an odd issue with a Netgear WIFI router, 4 computers, 2 pc laptops with XP and 7 installed, one macbook pro and one older mac mini. With security off everything can connect to the wifi. With WPA-Security on only the macs can connect to the wifi. I've reset the Netgear router, done everything again from scratch, no deal. The PCs just can't connect.

• Browser displays 'Apache is functioning normally' when I enter 'http://you/' in the location bar

  I am on a Mac and when I enter http://you/ in the location bar, it displays 'Apache is functioning normally' no matter which browser (Safari, Firefox, Chrome) I am using. Is this normal? Or could it be that my computer is hacked in some way and is now acting as a server for the hackers? EDIT: I originally wanted to go to the youtube.com, but entered http://you/ by accident and found out this strange behavior.

  On my Mac, I have a UDP port that is "already in use", but doesn't have an associated process: sudo netstat -na | grep "udp.*\.500\>" shows udp4 0 0 192.168.50.181.500 *.* udp4 0 0 192.168.29.166.500 *.* sudo lsof doesn't show a process on port 500 (ie sudo lsof -i:500 -P reports nothing). Note I'm using 'sudo' on both commands so it should show all processes. (rebooting works, but looking for something less disruptive) How can I unbind port 500 so I can use it again?

• ssh sessions in xterms freeze for many minutes whenever they disconnect

  If I ssh to a remote machine and then lose internet connectivity, the session freezes. I can't control-c or otherwise abort and go back to my local xterm or terminal prompt but if I wait several minutes it will do so. There must be some way to force it to abort the remote ssh session when connectivity is lost. I'm on a Mac but I believe this happens on cygwin or linux as well.
