  • Accessing an Access DB from Outlook via VBA

    Hi The situation: In Outlook I get a message from a server. The content of the message needs to be put into an Access db. But, there may not exist another message with the same date. So, I need to look into a db if there is already a message with the same date and time. If there exists one, then it needs to be replaced and otherwise the message needs to be added to the database. The database contains a list of current positions from the vehicles on the road. The problem: I have problems to compare a date time with a date time in an Access DB via VBA. The query I use returns no records but there is a record in the database. This is the query I use: adoRS.Open "SELECT * FROM currentpositions WHERE ((currentpositions. [dateLT])=" & "#" & date_from_message & "#" & ")", adoConn, adOpenStatic, adLockOptimistic Second I need to now what the result is of that query.     Hi Damsel in distress needing help with a batch-script. I have a bunch of files that one system creates. Either in one of 2 directories, or in the directory above that. The naming is apparently not very important, so It's a bit random. 2 questions for you batch-geniuses out there. a) How can I append date/time of creation to the end of the filename with a batch-script? b) How can I append a random filename (so I make the files unique) with a batch-script? Basically automatically generate an anniversary vacation accrual when their anniversary date comes. Here is an example of my table.     I have this xml document that is provided as a data feed (right off the bat I can not modify the source of the data feed) and i import it into excel with the xml import. there is no schema that comes with this xml so i get a table that ends up having a whole bunch of duplicates for an identifier, because of the unique values spread throughout the spreadsheet. XML in XLS Col1(IDnum) Col2(name) Col3(Type) Col4(Category) Col(etc) ================================================================= 0011 Item 01 6B 0011 Item xxj9 7B 0011 Item xxj9 0011 Item 02 0011 Item 01 xxj9 6B 0012 etc I need to delete all rows where columnA string/number matches while concatenating all potential values from Col3, Col4 & Col5 together so it looks like this Col1(IDnum) Col2(name) Col3(Type) Col4(Category) Col(etc) ================================================================= 0011 Item 01, 02 xxj9 6B, 7B what visual basic method would allow me to accomplish this? thanks

  • Create multiple columns on one sheet from 1 column on another with logic

    I am new to VBA and I am struggling trying to make this work. I am in need of a macro that will process each cell\column on Sheet1 and put the results on Sheet2. I'm sure this is pretty easy for those who are more advanced with VB code. It contains many columns.. Anytime we encounter a — or an empty cell, we populate the cell with -999 (see the example on Sheet2) on the first column, which contains "0-2". Then we create 2 new columns and populate them with 0 on the first column and 2 on second column (see example on Sheet2). If a value is found on only one side, we then populate both sides with the same number.   • Website hosting from home - IIS6 [closed]

    I'm wanting to host a few websites from home, primarily because I'm using some BETA Microsoft software (.NET 4 and EF) and don't want to install it on my production server which is hosted at eukhost.com. Basically, I'm completely new to this sort of thing. So far, here is what I've done: Registered the domain name at namecheap.com (let's call it mydomain.com) Gone to "Nameserver Registration" in the panel and entered my IP address for the NS1 and NS2 records (let's say the IP is 0.0.0.0). Gone to "Domain Name Server Setup" and entered ns1.mydomain.com & ns2.mydomain.com Forwarded requests from port 80 to my internal IP (let's say 192.168.1.254) Created the website in IIS (I'm just testing with a single website so far, so have not created any host header values) Now, if I type in the IP address (http://0.0.0.0) I get the site as expected. However, if I enter http://www.mydomain.com I get an error saying "DNS Error - Cannot find server". I'm aware that there is a service from DynDNS that will automatically change the IP if I have a dynamic address, however my IP has remained static since I installed the ISP (since October) so I don't need this. Is there any way that I can get the DNS to work just by configuring IIS or something in Windows? I don't really want to have to pay for any 3rd party service. Thanks,

  • How to Backup Emails that are Archived on Server

    Our exchange system here has been setup that any emails older and x weeks are automatically archived. Once they are when you click on them they are loaded from the archive and then opened. This makes backing older emails up onto say another drive impossible because when I open them from say home, I'm not connected to the exchange server and thus the email cannot be opened. Is there a way I can back them up and still have them available?

    I've edited a pps file which was made with the 2003 version and saved also as compatible with Power Point 97-2003 but a friend a mine can't see the last version of the file. The original file can be seen by my computer friend. What can I do to make the new version of the pps file to be viewable on the computer of my friend? Any tips? Where/what else do I have to check/do ?

  • Why doesn't Ghost 2003 offer to fill the destination drive?

    Because it is dangerously low on disk space, I want to upgrade an SBS 2003 server by replacing its existing 72GB drive with a 364GB drive. When I tried to use Norton Ghost 2003 to clone the disk it didn't suggest that I use the entire new drive. I'm worried that I caused the process to fail by overriding its decision - although the cloned drive boots in Safe Mode, if I try booting it normally then none of the SQL Express instances start and something causes the server to reboot before even the Ctrl+Alt+Del screen appears. Does Ghost 2003 know something that I don't? Or should I be using some other software?

Now I have the 2003 and 2007 in my PC. Do you think it will cause any problem if I do the migration, that I have the two version of the Access in the computer? Additional Question: I'm just wondering why I'm getting the below window every time I open the Microsoft Access 2003 Microsoft Access 2007. It's really strange. Before I was able to open it after I install the Office 2007 after 3 days it just started this strange thing. I don't have any clue.

  • Why is user "lightdm" trying to log into my SBS 2003?

    I have 7 Ubuntu desktops connected to a SBS 2003 using Centrify. I have a rather weird scenario, whereby a user with the name lightdm is trying to log into our server, possibly automatically. I thought lightdm was the session manager, not a user? Does anybody know what could be causing this? There is no user: "lightdm" on the server and the problem only comes from one of the 7 internal desktops connected to the server (its IP address is in the local network).

I've tried this to calculate it, but it does not work correctly. //This gives me the distance between the Coordinate and the Center of the Callout. DistanceX = Coordinate.X - (Callout.X + Callout.X_Ext)/2 DistanceY = Coordinate.Y - (Callout.Y + Callout.Y_Ext)/2 But, the geometric value is not the distance between the two points. Anybody know what the formula is for calculating this?

  • How to I prevent decimal truncation in Word 2003 when a document is auto populated via a Web Service

    I have a document template which is being auto populated via an external web service. The incoming data exists as a currency (e.g. 3.10) but when it is passed into the Word Document template the variable is truncated to remove any trailing 0's. I need the number to always appear with 2 decimals, even if they are both 0's. This is with the 2003 version of Word, I have not tested with other versions since all of our document templates need to be generated using that version of Word. I feel like this can be done with a Macro or a VB script but I have a very small amount of time & no experience with these tools - Any help is greatly appreciated!

  • How do I debug a cluster running Microsoft server 2003?

    I'm sole developer of a complex critical software system, written in Visual C++ 2005. It's deployed on a classical Microsoft cluster scenario (active/passive), that has Windows Server 2003 R2. If a server A goes down, the other one (B) starts and take the ownership of its duties. You have to know that: Both servers have the same Microsoft patches/fixes, same hardware, same everything. Both servers use the same memory storage (a RAID-6 through fiber channel). This software has a main module that launches the peripheral modules. if a peripheral module crashes, the main module restarts it. When I switch the application in one of the two servers (let's say the B server) two of the peripheral modules of the main applications just started to crash apparently without reason about 2 seconds after the start of the peripheral module. What could I do to analyze/inspect/resolve this weird situation?
