• Strange resource not found issue?

• WPF - List items not visible in Blend when 'DisplayMemberPath' is used

  Hi, We're currently working out how to implement MVVM and I've got to the point where I've got the MVVM Light Toolkit set up in blend and can specify dummy data to be supplied if running in Blend. All good. I've created a dummy list of data. The list contains 6 instances of a very simple class called DummyItem which has Age and Name properties. Here's the main code from my 'DummyList' class: public class DummyItem{ public string Name; public int Age; public DummyItem(string name, int age){ this.Name = name; this.Age = age; } } public class DummyList : ArrayList { public DummyList() { this.Add(new DummyItem("Dummy1", 00)); this.Add(new DummyItem("Dummy2", 01)); this.Add(new DummyItem("Dummy3", 02)); this.Add(new DummyItem("Dummy4", 03)); this.Add(new DummyItem("Dummy5", 04)); this.Add(new DummyItem("Dummy6", 05)); } } Here's the operative part of my XAML. The DataContext line does work and points to the correct ViewModel. <Grid x:Name="LayoutRoot"> <ListBox x:Name="ListViewBox" DataContext="{Binding Source={StaticResource Locator}, Path=ListViewModel}" ItemsSource="{Binding TheList}" DisplayMemberPath="Name"> </ListBox> </Grid> The problem is, when I add 'DisplayMemberPath', as I have above, then I can no longer see the list items in Blend. If I remove 'DisplayMemberPath', then I see a list of objects (DummyItem) with their full path. When the app is run, everything works perfectly. It's just that in Blend itself I cannot see the list items when I use 'DisplayMemberPath'. Anyone know why I can't see the items inside Blend itself when I use DisplayMemberPath? Thanks! AT

• SQL Server 2005 Import from Excel

  I'd like to know what my best option would be to import data from an excel file on a weekly or monthly basis. At first, I thought I would use SSIS, but after much struggle with seemingly simple tasks, I'm starting to rethink my plan. Would it be better/easier to just write the SQL by hand or use the services of an SSIS package? The basic process will be as follows: A separate process will download an .xls file to a local fileshare. The xls file will have a filename like: 'myfilename MON YY'. I will need to read the month and year from the the filename, reformat it to a sql date and then query a DimDate table to find the corresponding date key. For each row (after the first 2 header rows), insert the data with the date key, unless the row is a total row, then ignore. Here are some of the issues I've been encountering with SSIS: I can parse the date string from a flat file datasource, but can't seem to do it with an excel data source. Also, once parsed, i cannot seem to convert the string to a date in order to perform the lookup for the date key. For example, I want to do something like this: select DateKey from DimDate where ActualDate = convert(datetime, '01-' + 'JAN-10', 120) but i don't think it is possible to use the 'convert' or 'datetime' keywords in an expression builder. I have been also unable to find where I can edit the SQL to ignore the first 2 rows of data. I'm very skeptical of using SSIS because it seems like a Kludgy way of doing something that can probably be accomplished more efficiently writing the SQL yourself, but I may be forced to use SSIS. Thoughts?

  I have a WordPress blog running on lighttpd-1.4.19, listening on at www00:81. On the same host, apache-2.2.11 listens on port 80, which creates a proxy connection from http://blog.mydomain.org:80 to http://blog.mydomain.org:81. The Apache virtualhost looks as follows: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName blog.mydomain.org ProxyRequests Off <Proxy *> Order deny,allow Allow from all </Proxy> ProxyPass / http://blog.mydomain.org:81/ ProxyPassReverse / http://blog.mydomain.org:81/ </VirtualHost> Using debug.log-request-handling = "enable" I get the following log entry when I browse http://blog.mydomain.org:80 (notice the Host headers): 2010-05-10 08:47:14: (request.c.294) fd: 6 request-len: 853 GET / HTTP/1.1 Host: blog.mydomain.org:81 [...] 2010-05-10 08:47:15: (request.c.294) fd: 8 request-len: 754 GET /wp-content/uploads/2010/01/image.gif?w=280 HTTP/1.1 Host: www00:81 My problem: as far as I know, the PHP environment variable $_SERVER['HTTP_HOST'] is set to that Host header variable. Unfortunately, WordPress uses that variable in their system to create URLs to pictures on the blog. These URLs won't be accessible behind a firewall of course. How can I force the host header to be blog.mydomain.org instead of blog.mydomain.org:81, respectively www00:81? I already added set server.name = "blog.mydomain.org" to my lighttpd.conf, but this didn't work. Any suggestions are appreciated, thank you.

Opera is good enough, though it prints the main document instead of just the object. IE7 gives the following error details: Line: 57 Char: 1 Error: 'undefined' is null or not an object Line 57 is where the button's "input" tag starts in the HTML source. Thanks to the alert('contentWindow is null') call in the JS function, I know that the object I'm getting in IE has no contentWindow property. I have tried changing the object tag to an iframe tag. This changes the JS behaviour, but causes other issues such as the height attribute being ignored and the content not displaying. Sticking with an object tag, how can I get this Object's window in IE7?

• Trying to write up a C daemon, but don't know enough C to continue

  Okay, so I want this daemon to run in the background with little to no interaction. I plan to have it work with Apache, lighttpd, etc to send the session & request information to allow C to generate a website from an object DB, saving will have to be an option so, you can start the daemon with an existing DB but will not save to it unless you login to the admin area and enable, and restart the daemon. Summary of the daemon: Load a database from file. Have a function to restart the daemon. Allow Apache, lighttpd, etc to get necessary data about the request and session. A varible to allow the database to be saved to the file, otherwise it will only be stored in ram. If it is set to save back to the file, then only have neccessary data in ram. Use sql-light for the database file. Build a webpage from some template files. $(myVar) for getting variables. ( php is quite fast, but the fact that making a few mySQL requests for every webpage is quite unefficent and I'm sure that it can be far better, so an object that we can recall data from in C would have to be faster ) P.S I am using Arch-Linux not MS-Windows, with the package group base-devel for the common developer tools such as make and makepgk. However, when I open the changed document, I dont see my ribbon added. I see following in the CustomUI/CustomUI.xml inside the word:- <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?><customUI xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/office/2006/01/customui"> <ribbon xmlns=""> <tabs> ..... I am not sure how the "xmlns" attribute is getting added to the ribbon element. When I remove that attribute, the ribbon gets showed. Could anybody throw any idea on where am I going wrong?

  Hi, I am using a UIAlertView with three buttons: "Dismiss", "Submit Score" and @"View Leaderboard". The UIAlertView also contains a UITextField called username. At the moment the UITextField "username" is covering one of the buttons in the UIAlertView. I just wanted to know how I could stop the UITextField from covering one of the buttons, i.e move the buttons down. • Javascript array of dates - not iterating properly (jquery ui datepicker)

  Hi I have some code which builds an array of date ranges. I then call a function, passing it a date, and compare that date with dates in the array. I'm doing it this way because the dates are stored in a cms, and I'm manipulating the JqueryUI datepicker. Unfortunately my code only checks the first date range in the array - and I can't figure out why! I think it's probably something simple (/stupid!) - if anyone can shed some light on it I'd be extremely grateful! • Wrong date with ruby Date.today and DateTime.now

  I've installed ruby-1.8.6-p383 with RVM. System ruby is 1.9.1_p378-1 I'm getting the wrong date from Date.today and DateTime.now when using ruby 1.8.. Whereas Time.now is correct: irb(main):002:0> DateTime.now.to_s => "2126--1-10618T11:23:43+00:00" irb(main):004:0> Date.today.to_s => "2126--1-10618" irb(main):005:0> Time.now => Thu Jan 28 11:55:27 +0000 2010 All is well if I switch to ruby 1.9: irb(main):003:0> DateTime.now.to_s => "2010-01-28T11:58:51+00:00" irb(main):004:0> Date.today.to_s => "2010-01-28" irb(main):005:0> Time.now => 2010-01-28 11:59:05 +0000 Any advice on how to get DateTime to work properly in ruby 1.8 would be most appreciated!

  Given: Start Year Start Month & Start Day End Month & End Day What SQL statement results in TRUE if a date lands between the Start and End days? 1st example: Start Date = 11-22 End Date = 01-17 Start Year = 2009 Specific Date = 2010-01-14 TRUE 2nd example: Start Date = 11-22 End Date = 11-16 Start Year = 2009 Specific Date = 2010-11-20 FALSE 3rd example: Start Date = 02-25 End Date = 03-19 Start Year = 2004 Specific Date = 2004-02-29 TRUE I was thinking of using the MySQL functions datediff and sign plus a CASE condition to determine whether the year wraps, but it seems rather expensive. Am looking for a simple, efficient calculation. Update 1 The problem is the end date cannot simply use the year. The year must be increased if the end month/day combination happens before the start date. The start date is easy: Start Date = date( concat_ws( '-', year, Start Month, Start Day ) ) The end date is not so simple. Update 2 Here is what I was thinking about for obtaining the end year: end_year = case sign( diff( date( concat_ws( year, start_month, start_day ) ), date( concat_ws( year, end_month, end_day ) ) ) ) when -1 then Start_Year + 1 else Start_Year end case Then wrap that expression (once syntactically correct) inside of another date, followed by BETWEEN statement.   Are there any free solutions for automatically migrating a database from MySQL to MSSQL Server that "just works"? I've been attempting this simple (at least I thought so) task all day now. I've tried: MSSQL Server Management Studio's Import Data feature Create an empty database Tasks - Import Data... .NET Framework Data Provider for Odbc Valid DSN (verified it connects) Copy data from one or more tables or views Check 1 VERY simple table Click Preview Get Error: The preview data could not be retrieved. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: ERROR [42000] [MySQL][ODBC 5.1 Driver][mysqld-5.1.45-community]You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '"table_name"' at line 1 (myodbc5.dll) A similar error occurs if I go through the rest of the wizard and perform the operation. The failed step is "Setting Source Connection" the error refers to retrieving column information and then lists the above error. It can retrieve column information just fine when I modify column mappings so I really don't know what the issue is. I've also tried getting various MySql tools to output ddl statements that MSSQL understand but haven't succeeded. I've tried with MySQL v5.1.11 to SQL Server 2005 and with MySQL v5.1.45 to SQL Server 2008 (with ODBC drivers 3.51.27.00 and 5.01.06.00 respectively)

Each one of these article divs needs to be separated from its siblings by 5px or so. However, the author div is extending beyond the technical "height" of the div. The margin-bottom is doing nothing, as the space is being taken up by the floated author. This is somewhat difficult to envision, so I've placed it on my web server Is there any way to force the parent to be at least as tall as all of the floated elements within? If anyone figures out what I'm saying, thanks.

  I'm attempting to process Quickbooks My Time imt files using PHP. The imt file is a plaintext XML file. I've been able to use the PHP SimpleXML library with no issues but one: The numeric representations of datetime in the My Time XML files is something I've never seen before: <object type="TIMEPERIOD" id="z128"> <attribute name="notes" type="string"></attribute> <attribute name="start" type="date">308073428.00000000000000000000</attribute> <attribute name="running" type="bool">0</attribute> <attribute name="duration" type="double">3600</attribute> <attribute name="datesubmitted" type="date">310526237.59616601467132568359</attribute> <relationship name="activity" type="1/1" destination="ACTIVITY" idrefs="z130"></relationship> </object> You can see that attritube[@name='start'] has a value of: 308073428.00000000000000000000 This is not Excel based method of storage 308,073,428 is too many days since 1900-01-00 and it isn't Unix Epoch either. So, my question is, has anyone ever seen this type of datetime representation?

  I use TinyMCE in a DetailView in in EDIT MODE. I would like to know if there is a solution which can prevent Request Validation to trigger an error WITHOUT USING <%@ Page validateRequest="false" %> for my page. The only way I found out at the moment is to encode TextBox used by TinyMCE using option: "xml" tinyMCE.init({ encoding: "xml", In this way Request Validation does not trigger error but at the time to read the data in the TextBox the result it is Encoded. I also tried to Decode on PageLoad the content of the TextBox using this code myTextBox.Text = HttpUtility.HtmlDecode(myTextBox.Text) But the result is not as expected, so I can visualize it just Encoded text. Any Ideas? Thanks UPDATE I found a solution to my problem. I added in _DataBound event for the DetailsView this code TextBox myContentAuthor = (TextBox)uxAuthorListDetailsView.FindControl("uxContentAuthorInput"); myContentAuthor.Text = HttpUtility.HtmlDecode(myContentAuthor.Text); So on DataBound event, (should work even on post back) the content will be decodene for textbox tinymce. Here how should work: 01 - TinyMCE ESCAPE data inserted in textbox using function encoding: "xml", 02 - Data has been stored as ESCAPED 03 - To read the data and add its content to a TextBox where apply TinyMCE use in DATABOUND EVENT for DetailView and HttpUtility.HtmlDecode (so it will look decoded) 04 - You can modify content in the textbox in edit mode. On post back TinyMCE will encoded again using encoding: "xml" an so on Hope guys can help some one else. But please give me your comment on this solution thanks! Mybe you come up with more elegant solution! :-)

  I'm currently moving my application from a Linode setup to EC2. Redis is currently installed on a remote instance with various worker instances interacting with the queue. Thats all going fantastic. My problem is with the amount of time it takes for a worker to be 'instantiated' and slow forking. Starting a worker will usually take between 30 seconds and a minute(from god.rb starting the worker rake task and the worker actively starting work on the queue). I could live with that, but I've not experienced such a wait time on my current Linode production box so I believe its one of my symptoms to a bigger problem. Next issue is that jobs that took a second or less in my previous environment now seem to take about 5 to 10 times longer.. I'm assuming this must be some sort of issue with my Ubuntu install on EC2? One notable difference is that I'm running REE 1.8.7-2010.01 in my new setup, and REE 1.8.6 on the old Linode boxes. Anyone else experienced these issues?

That is, since I have 16 columns, each row should be prefixed something like this: 0000 [00 01 02 .... 0F] 0010 [10 11 12 .... 1F] 0020 [20 21 22 .... 2F] ... Any suggestions?
