  Hi. We are a company that is distributed in several places over Europe (real offices). Each office has its own domain. company.de company.co.uk company.ch And so. Our website servers are located in one place. We can't distribute our site to different locations. How can we create a local IP in each location to show our main server. so google will see us as local ip. Explanation: Google has decided to increase your PR if you have a local IP, they think that if you bought a server in a local market means that you are very serious about your business. We have 8 employees in each office, we cant have a separate server, is that mean that we are not serious about our business? no, this is y i need to create this illusion. Thanks

• Will keep google traffic on new site from old site when moving content from old site? [closed]

  Possible Duplicate: new domain, old links are 301’d from old domain to new, how will this affect my rankings? I have a site about bikers. Now I created a dating site for bikers. I don't need old site any more, I want to move all articles to this new dating site. So basically, this is not only moving content to new domain, but also to entire new site. What I am planning to do is to make 301 redirect for all 200 articles. For pages that are not articles, I will just put message that the site will be down soon. Do you think that I will get all google traffic from old site from those articles? Is there anything I should be aware and careful?

  Let's say I have a website called books.com where I sell books. I've read on Redirecting different domains to your main site that it's not a bad idea to register another domain that does a 301 redirect to my website, like booksforsale.com. Now, say I want to only target a specific category withing my website, like books.com/sci-fi/ so I register sci-fi-books.com and do a 301 redirect. Would this improve my search rankings? Thanks.

• Should I add rel nofollow to internal links which already have meta noindex?

  Let's say I have a products page with listing producsts and the page has pagination. I would like the 1st page to have all the SE ranking weight so I decided to put meta noindex on the rest of the paginated pages (from page 2 to N). My common sense says that if I don't want pages to not get indexed, I shouldn't also pass link/PR juice to these pages. (Is that smart?) What happens if I set rel="nofollow" for all pagination links from page 2 to page N?

• Why does Bing not show my adcenter ads though there is enough space

  I created several campaigns using the MS adcenter. I'm targeting the whole world at any time with 2-3 placement texts per keyword group. The bids I placed are sometimes quite high, so they should get displayed. When I try to search for my keywords in Bing nothing gets displayed, though there is plenty of space for it. Bing mostly displays 2-3 ads, but the ones at the right side rather seldom. I'd like to know, how I can improve the fact that my ads are not being displayed - without increasing the bids any further.

• Subdomain takes the position of main site in Google search result

  We have one domain and one sub-domain. Until last week both of them appear in first page of Google search for very important keyword. Unfortunately Google dropped our main domain from search results. our main site has been in first page for 5 years! About one year ago we build this sub-domain. It simply has been redirected to one of pages of main domain. For solving problem we upload a independent site for sub-domain because we guessed that Google think this is our main page of our site. But problem did not solved. What should we do? our main site offer main services and we we want that will be on first page. Shout down sub-domain? Redirect to main site? Put the link of our main site in sub-domain? (About one year ago we put link of this sub-domain to our main site. Google indexed it and continuously bring that to top.) changing in robots.txt ....

For some reason Webmaster tools is crawling my website and showing a lot of 404 errors which are from "/_" like additional pages that's i've never created. When my site comes up in a Google search, there are 2 links displayed underneath: I believe these links are called "Google sitemap" and my question is how to configure them in Wordpress. Because while the right link is pointing to the /ueber-mich URL at the website, the left link was pointing to an non-existing /imprint and I had to add that webpage as a workaround for now. And I'd like to change the /imprint to German /impressum anyway (currently I use mod_rewrite to redirect). UPDATE: Dear downvoters and movers, would you mind to READ my question please? My question has been about how to configure Google sitemap links in Wordpress. I have tried checking major websites like ebay, stackoverflow and others also, all with around 400 errors. So my first thought is, what good is that validator when it always displays errors?   Does anyone know a way to perform the following: I want to know whenever a new domain starts appearing in the google search results for a particular query. For a given google search query, I'd like to receive an alert whenever a new domain pops up and starts appearing in the search results for that query. Alternatively, it would be great if you could just sort google search results by the age of the domain, making it easy to find new sites. As far as I can tell you can only sort by when the page was "last updated". Is something like this possible? EDIT: Following John's suggestion of Google Alerts. The problem with Google Alerts is that it sends you any new PAGES appearing in the search results, not just new DOMAINS.

• Is doing AB Tests using site redirection a bad practice?

  I'm developing hotels websites here in Brazil. When the site is done, we do an AB test with the old version to measure conversion and show to the hotel owner how good our site is. Due to the fact that I cannot put the old site inside the new one as a subresource (newone.com/old), currently I'm doing those AB test as follows: 1) I create 2 Google Analytics accounts, one for each site (old and new); 2) I put the GA tags in the old website pages (changing its possibly existent GA ID to the just created one); 3) I put an Javascript code that redirects the user to the old website (in a different URL and different domain) with 50% of probability. So I compare all the metrics, events and goals between those two GA accounts. How bad is it? How Google can interpretate the fact of being, sometimes redirected, sometimes don't? The experiment usually runs for 2 weeks. Is there any other alternative for doing this in a better way?

  I have news based website, in which primary contents include news,image albums and videos. out of these i have copy rights for images and videos are just youtube embedded videos. Coming to news my site is kind of a mashup. It gathers data from various sites and presents them in more user friendly way for quick digestion and access. My problem here is that since the news part of the site can be found from other sites, my site could suffer in search rankings. Is there any solution to this.   We’ve set up tracking through custom variables in Google Analytics to measure which offices are getting the most traffic. The custom var consists out of the key (=office) and value = (office name). In our Custom Var tab in audience we get no data (actually we got 1 hit, but we think the data is way off). When we setup advanced segments with the filters on key and value we get the correct data. Now we are wondering why we aren’t getting that data in the custom var tab.

You've visited this page 3 times. Last visit: 2012/08/15 Now since I fixed this and added a 301 redirect to redirect mysite.co.za to www.mysite.co.za I would love it if google bot would come do a visit. Is there anything I can do to get this fixed?

  I am trying to make it easier for search engines to crawl my website, as it is almost 100% dynamic. I have a couple of transparent images which are actually links to sections of my page. I wonder, if I add an "alt" attribute containing space characters to explain the target, will this improve SE rankings etc? For example: <img src="blabla.png" alt="post new classified"> Or will this just result in errors? Ànd, what should I put in the alt attribute if I can't use space? PS: Another different and short question, will javascript-rich content make a page less important to crawlers? Thanks

• Content light website and Google - Tell google it's a listings site (as opposed shop, reviews or restaurants)

  I have a listings style website. Due to the nature of this (listings) the site is content light. Each page is typically less that 50 words but there are many pages. The site in question has had a ton of media coverage and so has some great inbound links from places like Wired, Fast Company, Canada Broadcasting Corporation and many many other bloggers, media websites and recycle related niche authors (It's a recycling site). But Google really ignores it. Traffic from search is very very low - less than 5% of all traffic. I know that using markup you can tell Google whether your site is a restaurant, article, review, shop, local business and a few other categories (https://www.google.com/webmasters/markup-helper/u/0/). Is there a way to tell Google that my site is a listings site? I suspect, but do not know for sure, that part of the problem is that Google simply does not know what my site is? It's a crowdmap where people post curbalerts. The information is useful to people but it is presented in a short, concise way - a pin on a map, a picture and a short description. Adding anything further is not necessary for the site's intended purpose. 1st question - how best to tell the search engines what y site is - listings and not some spammy website? • Website with over 1 million posts with not much textual content

  I've made a website which crawls files from all over the Internet and I feel like Google will ban me if I sent it sitemaps which contain all of these pages (1m+), because they contain only the file name/size/no of downloads and the download link(s). I'm considering this thought because I've made another website like this in the past and Google banned me after one week with the reason: "spam", even it was not (maybe somebody falsely reported me?!). Does someone have an idea about how to keep Google form banning my website? I've seen several other sites like mine and they don't get banned or... anything. And also, should I sent the sitemap or wait until Google indexes every page as it finds them? Thanks in advance :)
