• Bypass system sound setting objective c

  Hi. I have an app that Is supposed to play a AudioServicesPlayAlertSound(); but I've noticed on the iPod touch 1G, the sound will only play if the system sound setting is set to speaker or both. Is there a way to bypass this setting, because I know it works when the setting is not set to headphones. Also, if it is not possible, is there a way to alert the user to change this setting? I have a iPod touch 1G to test with, just incase. Wondering, HiGuy (CouleeApps)

• Update configSource of XML element in web.config using Powershell by passing in Parameters

  I am trying to figure out a way to update my web.config for different environments by updating the configSource for the appSettings element in the web.config. Here are the way I know how to do it. $xml.get_DocumentElement().appSettings.configSource = $replaced_test The problem is that I want one base script where I can pass in different nodes to the script that I want to change and update but I am not sure how to do it. For example, I want to be able to call a powershell script like this changeWebConfig.ps1 nodeToChange newValueofNode I hope this was clear enough.   Hello, I'm using Liferay 5.2 portal. I have 2 Web Proxy portlet in my portal. Web Proxy portlet 1 contains navigation items & Web Proxy portlet 2 contains content. When user click an item in portlet 1 then the content in portlet 2 will change, it also mean that the url for portlet 2 changes. How can I do that? Or is there any other way to do the action as I describe? Thx all!

• Web Crawling Sites with Javascripts or web forms

  Hello everyone, I have a webcrawler application. It successfully crawled most common and simple sites. Now i ran into some types of websites wherein HTML documents are dynamically generated through FORMS or javascripts. I believe they can be crawled and I just don't know how. Now, these websites do not show the actual HTML page. I mean if I browse that page in IE or firefox, the HTML code does not match what's actually in the IE or firefox. These sites contain textboxes, checkboxes, etc... so I believe they are what they call "Web Forms". Actually I am not much familiar with web development so correct me if I'm wrong. My question is, does anyone in similar situation as I am now and have successfully solved these types of "challenges"? Does anyone know of a certain book or article regarding web crawling? Those that pertains to these advanced type of websites? Thanks.

  I have just got an answer to my question about combining the result of a SQL. This was done with "ConcatRelated". Now I want to implement this in Expression Web 3. • Add Web Reference prompts for credentials with "Discovery Credential" dialog but won't accept valid

  I'm attempting to add a web reference to my ASP.Net 3.0 project. This is a reference to the SQL Server Reporting Services web service. I have verified the service is up and running, but when I try to add the web reference in my project, I am prompted for my credentials, which I enter, and then prompted again and again and again. I have to hit cancel to stop the vicious cycle. When I do that the service definition comes up in the window, but the "Add Reference" button is disabled so I can't add the reference to my project. I have limited knowledge of SQL Reporting Services configurations. If anyone knows how to resolve this problem I'd really appreicate it.

  I have build a static web interface for searching data from some tables in my PostgreSQL database. The query website consists of a simple textfield for entering the search term, the result website presents the results as a simple html table. The server side code for searching the PostgreSQL database and returning the results is written in python using psycopg2. Now I would like to add some interactive "Ajax features" to my search engine. When entering the search term I would like to be able to see a list of possible search terms like Google does it. On the results page, I would like to be able to sort the table showing the results. What would be the easiest/recommended way to implement these features for my search engine web site? Do I need a full-fledged web framework like Django for that?

• Dynamically load .asmx web-service

  I have an .aspx page that can perform a number of functions. The type of function is determined at run-time depending on which button the user clicks. This makes makes a web-service call to an .asmx method. The web-service call returns html and javascript which then become part of the original page. This new content has javascript events attached to button clicks, data validation etc. In turn these events then call their own web-service methods in another .asmx file. The main page does not know about these other .asmx files when the page loads. So, is there any way of dynamically loading these .asmx files on demand?

Meaning, I would like to be able to build, deploy a simple cms type application from the ground up. What exactly do I need to learn? Tomcat seems to be a good web server for Java. What options are there for the web? I know there is hibernate for an ORM. Does java have MVC? what about JSP? can MVC and JSP be together? beans? Maybe a book that covers all of these?

• Microsoft Speech Recognition in web service

  I'm trying to use the System.Speech.Recognition namespace for recognizing speech in a web service. Actually, the WS calls a dll that uses this namespace. The problem is that...I can't. First, I had a Access denied error. After changing the Identity of my application pool to LocalSystem (security break, I know), that disappeared. But a timeout appeared. I receive no error, but no response either. I did some tests, and, the same code (very simple) that I use for recognizing the text in a WAV returns the answer in around 2 seconds, when integrated in a desktop application, but hangs and does nothing in a web application. I think I'm missing something... I'm not supposed to use System.Speech.Recognition in a web application? Am I supposed to use something else? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

The most prominent seems to be Seaside but there is also AIDA/Web and Iliad. They seems to be very similiar, but this impresson may be wrong.   Hi all, I am making my first web application with ASP.NET and I am having a rough time. I have previously created the application I am working on as a Windows Form application and it works great, but I am having problems with the HTML side of things in the web application. My issues are pretty minor, but very annoying. I have worked with websites before and CSS, but as far as I can tell I do not have direct access to a CSS when creating a web application in VS 2008. My biggest issue is the positioning of components that I have dragged onto the "Default.aspx" form. For instance, how am I supposed to float a panel next to another one if I don't have a CSS, or how am I to correctly position a label?

  What is the difference between a rules engine and an expert system? Example1: Let's say that I have a program that determines the expiration date of a new driver's license. It takes inputs like visa expiration date, passport number, birthday, etc. It determines the expiration date of the driver's license from this input. It can even give an error if the input did not have enough valid identifications to allow a new driver's license. Example2: Let's say I am making an online version of the game Monopoly. I want the ability to change the rules of the game (say $400 for passing go or no one can buy properties until they land on the same property twice, etc). I have a module in the code to handle these rules. Are these both rules engines or are they expert systems? They both seem so similar. Is it just a synonym?

In most .NET applications I use the Global ASAX file for profiling, logging, and creating bug reports for all exceptions thrown by the application. Global ASAX isn't available for web services so I'm curious as to what other strategies people have come up with to work around this limitation. • Storing script files outside web root

  I've seen recommendations to store some or all php include files some place other than in the web document root directory (username/public_html in my case) for the specific reason of protecting php files with sensitive information (like database connection and login info) in the event that the web server hiccups and stops protecting php files and they become 'visible' to outsiders who know where to look. It seems somewhat paranoid to me, but I'm guessing people have gotten burned badly on this before so I'm willing to go along. The suggestion usually takes the form of having the include files in something like '../include_files/' so its not directly in the document root and not directly accessible to outsiders through the web server. My question is this: is there a significant difference in security between that way and just putting your 'include_files' directory under the document root and sticking an .htaccess file in there (with the appropriate entries)? Would putting an .htaccess file in '../include_files/' make any significant improvement there? TIA, Monte

  I am looking to convert a .wav file recorded through an android phone at 16000 to text using C#; namely the System.Speech namespace. My code is mentioned below; recognizer.SetInputToWaveFile(Server.MapPath("~/spoken.wav")); recognizer.LoadGrammar(new DictationGrammar()); RecognitionResult result = recognizer.Recognize(); label1.Text = result.Text; The is working perfectly with sample .wav "Hello world" file. However when i record something on teh phone and try to convert to on the pc, the converted text is no where close to what i had recoreded. Is there some way to make sure the audio file is transcribed accurately?

The website has a commenting system through which registered users of the website can post comments on the feedback posted by different users. When a comment is posted for a feedback an email is sent to the user who posted that feedback notifying him of new comments on his feedback. Now what I want is that a feedback owner should be able to post a new comment in response to that comment by simply replying to the email that has been sent by the website. • Web Service appears as website instead of developer web server

  I recently reimaged my PC and regrabbed one of our projects from Source Safe. In our solution we have a web service that normally runs on a server, however we can build the webservice on our localhost for debugging as well. However, now whenever I grab the project from source safe it is building the webservice as a website instead of a developer web server. This is causing a variety of issue, specifically I am no longer able to specify which port I would like that webservice to use. As a result I cannot connect to our database through my local webservice. How can I change the project in my solution that controls the webservice from a website to a developer web server? • multiple FileSystemWatchers to monitor files on local system?

  We're writing a text editor like tool for our internal accounting package system that has actions that can be done by our own Xml language specs. These macro commands are specified in Xml files and we need the ability to monitor if files openned have bean modified externally. The only problem is that there maybe 20-30 files with different paths openned at any one time. Would it be good to use multiple FileSystemWatchers for this scenario? Or would it be better to monitor the root drive and catch specific events that match an open file in the editor (though lots of events could be raised). Some are local drives (C,D,E) others are their network drives (U,X,G,H). Files are quite chunky too about 300-400Kb.

  Hi. I have some web services and I am creating a web client using ws-import. When creating the client I have this line: MyServiceService service = new MyServiceService(); It works fine as it is. I have the same web services running on another server and I was wondering if I could access them using the same client. Is it possible to change the wsdl url of the client? Ctrl-Space in Eclipse gives me 2 parameters which I can enter into MyServiceService which are URL arg0 and Qname arg1. Is this what I'm looking for? • Automatic website screenshots for Web app?

  Is there a way to take automatic screenshots of a web page (by specifying its URL) in a web app using PHP or Ruby on Rails? Perhaps using a plugin or some external REST service. I've researched a lot, and nothing seems to fit except something like this (http://www.binarymoon.co.uk/2010/02/automated-take-screenshots-website-free/) but I doubt Wordpress would just let me spam their servers for something not Wordpress related. I'd like to use it for my own web application so I'm not sure of the legal implications..how hard is this to implement myself? What does it entail? Thanks!
