  • How do CUDA devices handle immediate operands?

    Compiling CUDA code with immediate (integer) operands, are they held in the instruction stream, or are they placed into memory? Specifically I'm thinking about 24 or 32 bit unsigned integer operands. I haven't been able to find information about this in any of the CUDA documentation I've examined so far. So references to any documents on specific uarch details like this would be perfect, as I don't currently have a good model for how CUDA works at this level.

The problem is that the page will pop-out the download, and you can save it, but it will not allow another form submit. i was thinking of doing a page refresh after the submit.     So i want to join strings with relative urls in Javascript. base url = "http://www.adress.com/more/evenmore" with relative url = "../../adress" = "http://www.adress.com/adress" relative url = "../adress" = "http://www.adress.com/more/adress" What would be the best way? I was thinking of using regexp and checking how many "../" i find, then subtracting that amount from the baseurl and adding them to what is left.

  • How do you get log4j to roll files based on date and size?

    So log4j comes with two existing log rollers: RollingFileAppender, and DailyRollingFileAppender. Has anyone heard of an appender that does both of what the former do? I need an appender that will roll log files based on filesize, but also append the current date to it. I've been thinking about creating my own appender, but if there is already one that has been created, why not save the time and use that one?

    I have a Facebook app I'm developing locally. I've configure everything correctly to SSL development with Thin. I know that using a shotgun.rb file, I can pass options to Thin to get it to start in SSL mode, but I'm not exact sure how to pass these options. I'm thinking something like: Thin:Server::options[:ssl] = true Thin:Server::options[:ssl_cert_path] = /path/to/cert/ Restarting thin constantly is getting old, so I'd really like to be able to use shotgun in development.

    I am playing with the unix hexdump utility. My input file is UTF-8 encoded, containing a single character ñ, which is C3 B1 in hexadecimal UTF-8. hexdump test.txt 0000000 b1c3 0000002 Huh? This shows B1 C3 - the inverse of what I expected! Can someone explain? For getting the expected output I do: hexdump -C test.txt 00000000 c3 b1 |..| 00000002 I was thinking I understand encoding systems..

  • Why do garbage collectors freeze execution?

    I was thinking about garbage collection on the way home, and I began wondering, why does the garbage collector totally freeze execution of a program? Personally I would have designed it to block any threads which try to allocate a new object, but threads which were running would be left alone. I can't imagine any situation where this would be a problem compared to how a garbage collector currently works.
