  • Android: make a scrollable custom view

    - by Martyn
Hey, I've rolled my own custom view and can draw to the screen alright, but what I'd really like to do is set the measuredHeigh of the screen to, say, 1000px and let the user scroll on the Y axis, but I'm having problems doing this. Can anyone help? Here's some code: public class TestScreen extends Activity { CustomDrawableView mCustomDrawableView; @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); mCustomDrawableView = new CustomDrawableView(this); setContentView(mCustomDrawableView); } } and public class CustomDrawableView extends View { public CustomDrawableView(Context context) { super(context); setVerticalScrollBarEnabled(true); setMinimumHeight(1000); } @Override protected void onDraw(Canvas canvas) { canvas.drawLine(...); // more drawing } } I've tried to override scrollTo, scrollBy, awakenScrollBars etc with a call to super but to no avail. Am I missing something silly, or am I making some fundamental mistake? Thank you in advance, Martyn

  • Using Timer only once

    - by zaidwaqi
Hi, I want to use a timer only once, at 1 second after the initialization of my main form. I thought the following would have a message box saying "Hello World" just once, but actually a new message box says "Hello World" every one second. Why so? I had put t.Stop() in the tick event. Also, do I need to dispose the timer somehow to avoid memory leakage? Timer t = new Timer(); t.Interval = 1000; t.Tick += delegate(System.Object o, System.EventArgs e) { MessageBox.Show("Hello World"); t.Stop(); }; t.Start(); Please help and show if there is a better way of doing this? Thanks.

  • Postgres : Post statement (or insert) asynchronous, non-blocking processing.

    - by Hassan Syed
I'm wondering if it is possible, that after a collection of rows is inserted, to initiate an operation that is executed asynchronously, is non-blocking, and doesn't need to inform the originator of the request - of the result. I am working with large amounts of events and I can guarantee that the post-insert logic will not fail -- I just want to have a single insert thread in my event-sources, and I want this thread to keep flying without blocking, and without being responsible for any post-delivery book-keeping. I can tell you that I would potentially have a 100 of these jobs executing concurrently and each job might operate on 5 tables with anywhere between 200-1000 inserts on each of these tables. A hint in the right direction should be enough.

  • Check if row already exists, if so tell the referenced table the id

    - by flhe
Let's assume I have a table magazine: CREATE TABLE magazine ( magazine_id integer NOT NULL DEFAULT nextval(('public.magazine_magazine_id_seq'::text)::regclass), longname character varying(1000), shortname character varying(200), issn character varying(9), CONSTRAINT pk_magazine PRIMARY KEY (magazine_id) ); And another table issue: CREATE TABLE issue ( issue_id integer NOT NULL DEFAULT nextval(('public.issue_issue_id_seq'::text)::regclass), number integer, year integer, volume integer, fk_magazine_id integer, CONSTRAINT pk_issue PRIMARY KEY (issue_id), CONSTRAINT fk_magazine_id FOREIGN KEY (fk_magazine_id) REFERENCES magazine (magazine_id) MATCH SIMPLE ON UPDATE NO ACTION ON DELETE NO ACTION ); Current INSERTS: INSERT INTO magazine (longname, shotname, issn) VALUES ('a long name','ee','1111-2222'); INSERT INTO issue (fk_magazine_id,number,year,volume) VALUES (currval('magazine_magazine_id_seq'),'8','1982','6'); Now a row should only be inserted into 'magazine', if it does not already exist. However if it exists, the table 'issue' needs to get the 'magazine_id' of the row that already exists in order to establish the reference. How can i do this? Thx in advance!

  • Fullscreen image with jquery on window resize?

    - by lauthiamkok
    I am trying to make fullscreen images with jquery when the window resize function is triggered. But I get this kind of result - where you can see a gap at the bottom of the image which I don't know how to fix it. the basic html, <!-- container --> <div id="container" class="container"> <div class="holder-supersize" id="supersize"> <ul class="background-supersize"> <li><a href="#"><img src="styles/images/IMG_0250.jpg" alt="" width="1000" height="667" /></a></li> <li><a href="#"><img src="styles/images/IMG_0255.jpg" alt="" width="667" height="1000" /></a></li> <li class="active"><a href="#"><img src="styles/images/IMG_0323.jpg" alt="" width="1158" height="772" /></a></li> </ul> </div> </div> <!-- container --> jquery for updating image size on window resize, $(document).ready(function(){ $(window).resize(function(){ $(".holder-supersize").each(function() { //Define image ratio & minimum dimensions var minwidth = .5*(640); var minheight = .5*(480); var ratio = 480/640; //Gather browser and current image size var imagewidth = $(this).width(); var imageheight = $(this).height(); var browserwidth = $(window).width(); var browserheight = $(window).height(); //Check for minimum dimensions if ((browserheight < minheight) && (browserwidth < minwidth)){ $(this).height(minheight); $(this).width(minwidth); } else { //When browser is taller if (browserheight > browserwidth){ imageheight = browserheight; $(this).height(browserheight); imagewidth = browserheight/ratio; $(this).width(imagewidth); if (browserwidth > imagewidth){ imagewidth = browserwidth; $(this).width(browserwidth); imageheight = browserwidth * ratio; $(this).height(imageheight); } } //When browser is wider if (browserwidth >= browserheight){ imagewidth = browserwidth; $(this).width(browserwidth); imageheight = browserwidth * ratio; $(this).height(imageheight); if (browserheight > imageheight){ imageheight = browserheight; $(this).height(browserheight); imagewidth = browserheight/ratio; $(this).width(imagewidth); } } } return false; }); }); }); CSS for supersize image /* Supersize -------------------------------------------*/ .holder-supersize { width:100%; height:100%; position:absolute; left:0; top:0; z-index:0; } .background-supersize { width:100%; height:100%; overflow:hidden; position:relative; } .background-supersize li { width:100%; height:100%; overflow:hidden; position:absolute; left:0; top:0; text-align:center; } .background-supersize li img { /* for image with height < width */ /**/ width:100%; height:auto; /* for image with height > width */ /* width:auto; height:100%; */ } .background-supersize li , .background-supersize a, .background-supersize img{ display:none; } .background-supersize .active, .background-supersize .active a, .background-supersize .active img{ display:inline; } This is the link at jsfiddle and this is the link to see the actual product.   • imagecopyresampled to resize and crop an image - not returning the expected result

    - by David
imagecopyresized ( resource $dst_image , resource $src_image , int $dst_x , int $dst_y , int $src_x , int $src_y , int $dst_w , int $dst_h , int $src_w , int $src_h ) This is what I want to do: I have an image that's 600x1000px in size, and I want to create a thumb that's 100x100px after resizing that image to 300x500px, the x coordinate for the top left point of the thumb square should be at 100(src x) and 120(src y). According to what I understand from the manual, the command should be $dst_image = imagecreatetruecolor(100,100); $src_image = imagecreatefromjpeg('/home/sandbox/imagetoresize.jpg'); imagecopyresized ($dst_image, $src_image, 0, 0, 100, 120, **300 , 500 , 600 , 1000** ) It is cropping the image just fine, but it isn't resizing it correctly. I never got it to match what I see in my image editor (the GIMP). What am I doing wrong? I confirmed that all the numbers are correct, but it's always shifted up or down no matter what I do. Your help would really be appreciated!

  • Does this variable need to be declared volatile?

    - by titaniumdecoy
Does the out variable in the MyThread class need to be declared volatile in this code or will the "volatility" of the stdout variable in the ThreadTest class carry over? import java.io.PrintStream; class MyThread implements Runnable { int id; PrintStream out; // should this be declared volatile? • Is it ok to hardcode dynamic links in a permanent view?

    - by meder
Let's say I wanted to showcase 2-3 clickable buttons on my homepage which will be there permanently. These are links to the css, html, and javascript tag listing pages. Is it fine to just hardcode href=/tags/css and href=/tags/html right in my django templates/view? I won't change them for at least a year or so, meaning I don't think I need to add a column to the tags table to distinguish them - is this common or should I try to make it somewhat dynamic? These tags are in a table but so are 1000 other tags.

  • Huge page buffer vs. multiple simultaneous processes

    - by Andrei K.
One of our customer has a 35 Gb database with average active connections count about 70-80. Some tables in database have more than 10M records per table. Now they have bought new server: 4 * 6 Core = 24 Cores CPU, 48 Gb RAM, 2 RAID controllers 256 Mb cache, with 8 SAS 15K HDD on each. 64bit OS. I'm wondering, what would be a fastest configuration: 1) FB 2.5 SuperServer with huge buffer 8192 * 3500000 pages = 29 Gb or 2) FB 2.5 Classic with small buffer of 1000 pages. Maybe some one has tested such case before and will save me days of work :) Thanks in advance.

  • AS3: Synchronize Timer event to actual time?

    - by Nebs
I plan to use a timer event to fire every second (for a clock application). I may be wrong, but I assume that there will probably be a (very slight) sync issue with the actual system time. For example the timer event might fire when the actual system time milliseconds are at 500 instead of 0 (meaning the seconds will be partially 'out of phase' if you will). Is there a way to either synchronize the timer event to the real time or get some kind of system time event to fire when an second ticks in AS3? Also if I set a Timer to fire every 1000 milliseconds, is that guaranteed or can there be some offset based on the application load? These are probably negligible issues but I'm just curious. Thanks.

  • Computer Vision Website Image Slideshow help

    - by msandbot
Hi, I'm making an online display of the output of a computer vision algorithm. After running the algorithm I am left with a folder of about 1000 16 bit .tiff files. I need to put those on the website in a list for so that the researchers can click through and find the list. Also there needs to be an image frame with an "animated gif" feel that can be started stopped and played in reverse. Any ideas on the best way to do this? What language to use? I made a simple website in Ruby on Rails but I don't know if it has the capabilities to do what I require.

  • Undo history broken in Eclipse?

    - by Artem Russakovskii
Is Eclipse's undo history broken? I have been using 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, and now 3.4 versions for the last few years and was always able to undo only about 20-25 changes back in history. This nonsense has cost me some lost modifications countless times when trying to revert some recent changes (if you reply with "you should commit to svn every 25 changes", I'm going to unleash dragons on you). There's a setting in Preferences-Editors-Text Editors-Undo history size and I set it to 1000 but it didn't help anything. I'm mostly using Eclipse with the Perl E.P.I.C. in the Perl Perspective, if it matters. So guys, what's the problem and how do I fix it?

  • jquery - deciding whether a user is "away"

    - by Phil Jackson
hi, im doing a little test to check whether the user is "away" (unactive) or not; function away_status(){ $("#away_stat_update").everyTime(1000, function(i) { var number = Number($(this).html()); if( number == 20 ) { // set user as away alert( "user away" ); } if( number > 20 ) { $("*").mousemove(function(e){ $("#away_stat_update").html(0); var number = Number(0); // reset user to being online alert( "user back online" ); }); } $("#away_stat_update").html( number + 1 ); }); $("*").mousemove(function(e){ $("#away_stat_update").html(0); }); } away_status(); the only problem is that when the number is greater than 20 and the mouse is moved it keeps alerting "user back on line" instead of doing it just once. The number is resetting by the way.

  • Stop setInterval within jQuery plugin

    - by Romelus
    I am trying to wrap up a plugin that I am writing but am stumped on a very trivial problem that I cant seem to find a solution for. I have tracked down almost every forum and related problem discussion. Any ways here is what I want to happen, my plugin has a timer that I would like the user to be able to handle its termination. (function ($) { ... var defaults = { callback : function(){}, crossfadeTime : 1000, easing : 'linear', running : 'true', // Here is where I would like the user to send a parameter // to invoke a different result. i.e. 'false' => clearing // the timer. Such as... var timer = setInterval(function(){ // Do Something; },3000); if(defaults.running == 'false'){ clearInterval(timer); }

  • Need help with Drupal bulk mail low open rate for legitimate mailing list

    - by Ron Williams
I've moved from constant contact to Drupal Simplenews/Mimemail/SMTP. Previously the open rate was around 50% for constant contact, but now it's 4-5% for the same list via the mentioned setup. Mail is getting out from the server, but it's having an issue anyway. Here's the setup: -The e-mail list consists of approximately 80,000 addresses which is queued at 10,000 e-mails per cron run (which runs hourly). -The server is a Dual Core2Quad machine with 2GB of RAM. -When mail is being sent, the mail queue will usually go up to ~1000 at the beginning of the hour before reducing to ~250 by the time the next cron occurs. -Newsletter is themed to display custom style for newsletter on send -Newsletter is received by some, but appears to be bounced by many (based on low open rate_ -I've added SPF, domain keys, and a PTR record to the DNS -Server hostname (listed in ptr) is different from hosted domain -Very low spam number via Spamassassin -IP and domain are not blacklisted -Mail goes out via SMTP module on delivery. Any ideas?

  • "SendMessage" to 3 different processes in C++

    - by user1201889
I want to send keystrokes to multiple processes. For example, if I press “1”, then I want to send the “1” to 3 "Notepad windows". Frist I want to try to send a keystroke to notepad, but it fails on the HWND: //HANDLE hWin; HWND windowHandle = FindWindowA(NULL, "Notepad"); //Can’t find a proccess //Send a key if( windowHandle ) //This one fails { while(true) { if( GetAsyncKeyState(VK_F12) != 0 ) { SendMessageA(windowHandle, WM_KEYDOWN, VK_NUMPAD1, 0); Sleep(1000); SendMessageA(windowHandle, WM_KEYUP, VK_NUMPAD1, 0); } Sleep(100); } } But the "FindWindow" method is not good enough for my program. There is also no way to get 3 different processes with the same name. So how can I make 3 handles to 3 different processes with the same name? And how can I send key’s to the processes?

  • Nginx logic (if cookie set, redirect here...) Is it possible?

    - by Matthew Steiner
So, I have a pretty basic need, but I can't figure out if it's even possible, much less how to do it. I have a main page that anyone can see. Most of the rest of the application can be seen only if logged in (hence, a "set cookie"). So I was thinking, as long as they don't have a cookie set, they can just see a cached version of nginx. I can get it caching with this: proxy_cache STATIC; proxy_cache_valid 200 1d; proxy_cache_use_stale error timeout invalid_header updating http_500 http_502 http_503 http_504; And it helps a ton. (instead of 15 requests per second it gets over 1000). Now I just need some sort of "server logic" to say only serve the cached page if they have no cookie, otherwise, load the dynamic page (which will automatically redirect them into the app). Any ideas?

  • Getting user data from Active Directory using PL/SQL

    - by David Neale
I had a discussion today regarding an Oracle procedure I wrote some time ago. I wanted to get 7500 user email addresses from Active Directory using PL/SQL. AD will return a maximum of 1000 rows and the LDAP provider used by Oracle will not support paging. Therefore, my solution was to filter on the last two characters of the sAMAccountName (*00,*01,*02...etc.). This results in 126 queries (100 for account names ending in digits, 26 for those ending in a letter...this was sufficient for my AD setup). The person I was speaking to (it was a job interview by the way) said he could have done it a better way, but he would not tell me what that method was. Could anybody hazard a guess at what this method was?
