  • AJAX spreadsheet editor interfaced to own website

    - by Ole Tange
My website has records that are tables. I would like for my users to be able to edit these records in an easy way. Currently they download a .csv-file, edit it in their favourite spreadsheet, and upload it again. But this often fails (they upload in wrong format or edit fields that they are not supposed to touch). I would therefore like to present the users with an editor directly on the website. So just like you can have WYSIWYG editors in CMSes for text I would like to have it for spreadsheets. One solution would be to interface my website with GoogleDoc and have the users edit the files using GoogleDoc's spreadsheet, and some how get the sheet back when they are done, but I do not know if this is possible at all.

  • AutoCompleteExtender - authentication failure (forms authentication)

    - by Paddy
I'm using the AutoCompleteExtender from the AJAX control toolkit on my aspx page - I have it wired up to a WCF service that is returning a string array and everything works happily. If I change my service definition to include a demand for the caller to be authenticated, like so: <OperationContract(), PrincipalPermission(SecurityAction.Demand, Authenticated:=True)> _ Public Function GetLookupValues(ByVal prefixText As String, ByVal count As Integer, ByVal contextKey As String) As String() Then the autocomplete extender stops working, and I get an authentication error in the service. The service is set up to use ASPNetCompatibility mode, and I was hoping that the extender would pass the authentication credentials for my logged in user - does anyone know how to make this work?

  • XHR readyState = 4 but Status = 0 in Google Chrome Browser

    - by Jay
Hello i'v got a strange Problem with an AJAX call on my site. I make a simple AJAX call to a Script on my site. But the AJAX call fails with readState=4 and Staus = 0. There's no cross domain problem because the script i want to call is on my server. $.ajax({ type:"GET", url: 'http://mydomain.com/test.php', success : function(response){ console.log(response); }, error : function(XHR){ console.log(arguments); } }); I 've googled a lot of sites but there seems to be no solution for that!

  • Ajaxing a link in a table

    - by Colin Desmond
I have a table of results in an ASP.Net MVC page where the last column is an View Details link. I want to have the user click the View Details link and an AJAX method be called to open the results in floating dialog. What I am struggling with is how to link the AJAX call to the link in the results table. I was using a link which embedded the ~/ControllerName/ViewDetails/InstanceId link directly in it. Clicking it took the user to a new page and it is this behaviour I want to replace with an AJAX call and a dialog window. Now I want to attach a jQuery handler to the link to trigger the AJAX call and I can't see how to do this other than write an jQuery handler for each row in the results table. There must be a way to mark the link as an ViewDetails link (using a class?) and attach the jQuery click handler to all instances of type class ViewDetails.

  • Comments show up in database, but only show up on my index page after a refresh.

    - by Truong
    Hi, I have AJAX, PHP, jquery, and mySQL in this very simple website I'm trying to make. All there is is a text area that sends data to the database and uses ajax\jquery to display that data onto the index page. For some reason though, I press submit and the data goes to the database, but I have to refresh the page myself to see that data on the page. I'm assuming that the problem has to do with my AJAX JQuery or even some mistake in the index. Also, when I type the text into the text area and press submit, the text remains in the textarea until I refresh the page. Haha, sorry if this is such a noob question.. I'm trying to learn. Thanks so much Here is the AJAX: <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.3.0/jquery.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(function() { $(".submit").click(function() { var comment = $("#comment").val(); var post_id = $("#post").val(); var dataString = '&comment=' + comment if(comment=='') { alert('Fill something in please!'); } else { $("#flash").show(); $("#flash").fadeIn(400).html('<img src="noworries.jpg" /> '); $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "commentajax.php", data: dataString, cache: false, success: function(html){ $("ol#update").append(html); $("ol#update li:last").fadeIn("slow"); $("#flash").hide(); } }); }return false; }); }); </script> Here is the index\form area: <body> <div id="container"><img src="banner.jpg" width="890" height="150" alt="title" /></div> <id="update" class="timeline"> <div id="flash"></div> <div id="container"> <form action="#" method="post"> <textarea name="comment" id="comment" cols="35" rows="4"></textarea><br /> <input name="submit" type="submit" class="submit" id="submit" value=" Submit Comment " /><br /> </form> </div> <id="update" class="timeline"> <?php include('config.php'); //$post_id value comes from the POSTS table $prefix="I'm happy when"; $sql=mysql_query("select * from comments order by com_id desc"); while($row=mysql_fetch_array($sql)) { $comment=$row['com_dis']; ?> <!--Displaying comments--> <div id="container"> <class="box"> <?php echo "$prefix $comment"; ?> </div> <?php } ?> Here is my commentajax.php <?php include('config.php'); if($_POST) { $comment=$_POST['comment']; $comment=mysql_real_escape_string($comment); mysql_query("INSERT INTO comments(com_id,com_dis) VALUES ('NULL', '$comment')"); } ?> <li class="box"><br /> <?php echo $comment; ?> </li> I'm sorry for so much code but I just started learning this four days ago and this is probably one of the last bugs until the website is functional.

  • Why is my CalendarExtender getting overlapped when rendered?

    - by Dillie-O
I'm working on a .NET web application and I'm using a CalendarExtender control within it to have the user specify a date. For some reason, when I click the icon to display the calendar, the background seems to be transparent, shown below: I'm using the extender on other pages and do not run into this issue. I'm not sure if it is worth mentioning, but the calendar is nested within a panel that has a rounded corner extender attached to it, as well as the panel below it (where the "From" is overlapping). Within that panel, I do have a div layout setup to create two columns. EDIT: The other thing to note here is that the section that has the name and "placeholders" for nickname are all ASP.NET label controls, if that matters.

  • Submitting AjaxForm with jQuery in ASP.NET MVC

    - by Hadi Eskandari
I have an ajax form in asp.net mvc which is as simple as this: <% using (this.Ajax.BeginForm("LatestBlogPosts", "Blog", null, new AjaxOptions { UpdateTargetId = "blogPostPanel" }, new { id = "BlogPostForm" })) { %> <div class="panel" id="blogPostPanel"> <img src="/images/ajax-loader.gif" alt="ajax-loader" /> </div> <% } %> I want to invoke the form submit when document is loaded. This should supposedly, call the controller's action and return a result that should be replaced with the placeholder DIV. If I add a SUBMIT button to the form, it works perfectly, but when I invoke the submit via jQuery, the whole page is refreshed, and the content returned by the server is displayed in the newly displayed page. Here's my jQuery code: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $("#BlogPostForm").submit(); }); </script> Anyway to do this?

  • Ajaxifying Struts2 application

    - by scotty
I just started working on an application that is build on the Struts2 framework. I am coming from a .Net application with lot of Ajax features like dimming the rest of the site and show dialog box 'please wait while X is happening' ...auto complete and such other ajax features. I searched google for Ajax plugins for Struts2 but did not find anything that looks like it would be worth it. Is my only option to use jquery and its plugins? Is this a pattern that some of you have seen also? Hopefully Java applications are not dead soon because of its inability to cope with ajax...compared to .Net
