But it's ok when open the url using browser.     Hello, I have simple page in php which gets argument with get method. The page just prints the argument. Nothing more. It works properly with english chars. If i pass as argument value in some Unicode language (etc Russian), then the value of the argument printed as question marks. How to solve the issue?   • HTML5 <audio> Safari live broadcast vs not

    I'm attempting to embed an HTML5 audio element pointing to MP3 or OGG data served by a PHP file . When I view the page in Safari, the controls appear, but the UI says "Live Broadcast." When I click play, the audio starts as expected. Once it ends, however, I can't start it playing again by clicking play. Even using the JS API on the audio element and setting currentTime to 0 fails with an index error exception. I suspected the headers from the PHP script were the problem, particularly missing a content length. But that's not the case. The response headers include a proper Content- Length to indicate the audio has finite size. Furthermore, everything works as expected in Firefox 3.5+. I can click play on the audio element multiple times to hear the sound replay. If I remove the PHP script from the equation and serve up a static copy of the MP3 file, everything works fine in Safari. Does this mean Safari is treating audio src URLs with query parameters differently than URLs that don't have them? Anyone have any luck getting this to work? I've discovered that if I write the track out as: #EXTINFUTF8:76,Señor Coconut Y Su Conjunto - Introducciõn #EXTINF:76,Señor Coconut Y Su Conjunto - Introducciõn #UTF8:01-Introducciõn.mp3 01-Introducciõn.mp3 Then the music player will read it correctly and play the track. My problem is that I can't find the information I need to be able to do the conversion properly.

  • Paperclip - Validate File Type but not Presence

    I am using paperclip to handle my file uploads, and in one situation I don't want the file to be mandatory. I do however want to make sure it is a specific file type when it is present. I have this: class TestModel < ActiveRecord::Base #stuff has_attached_file :sound #etc... validates_attachment_content_type :sound, :content_type => ['audio/mp3', 'application/x-mp3'] end And when I have no sound file present, it tells me it is not one of the valid content types. I've tried adding '' to the :content_type array, which also doesn't work! I also attempted creating a lambda procedure for the :if property, but I can't get it to run without some kind of error. Anything missing here?

  • Is code clearness killing application performance?

    As today's code is getting more complex by the minute, code needs to be designed to be maintainable - meaning easy to read, and easy to understand. That being said, I can't help but remember the programs that ran a couple of years ago such as Winamp or some games in which you needed a high performance program because your 486 100 Mhz wouldn't play mp3s with that beautiful mp3 player which consumed all of your CPU cycles. Now I run Media Player (or whatever), start playing an mp3 and it eats up a 25-30% of one of my four cores. Come on!! If a 486 can do it, how can the playback take up so much processor to do the same? I'm a developer myself, and I always used to advise: keep your code simple, don't prematurely optimize for performance. It seems that we've gone from "trying to get it to use the least amount of CPU as possible" to "if it doesn't take too much CPU is all right". So, do you think we are killing performance by ignoring optimizations?

  • VLC helper protocol on Mac OS X

    Hey everybody, I am trying to add a vlc:// helper protocol on Mac OS X. To register the protocol, I have unsuccessfully been playing around with the MoreInternet PrefPane. What I want to have in my browser is a vlc://someressource.com/audio.mp3, which should launch VLC and add http://someressource.com/audio.mp3 to the playlist (this works fine on Windows and also Linux if I remember correctly). Maybe even just have vlc://http:// so that https would also be supported. I have no idea how to achieve this. I tried making a bash script, which MoreInternet would not accept. Then I tried making an application through Automator with my Bash script embedded. That did not work either, as the Automator application has no "creator code" - whatever that is?! Can any of you guys point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance!

    I have written a little streaming mp3 server in python. So far all it does is accept a ServerSocket connection, and begin streaming all mp3 data in its queue to the request using socket.send(). I have implemented this to chunk in stream icy metadata, so the name of the playing song shows up in the client. I would like to add playlist management to the server, so that I can manipulate the playlist of the running server. I have a vague idea that xmlrpclib would be suited to doing this, but I'm confused about one thing: When I start the server it listens on port N. The python xmlrpclib examples involve creating a socket and listening for requests. So my question is should server listen on two ports; i.e., one for streaming client requests and one for xmlrpclib calls, or is there a way to do it by somehow delegating the request to the appropriate handler based on its type?

But I want my files to be saved in director named by model 'A'.     Actually I have some download link on my website something like "http://www.example.com/somesong.mp3". Now when user click on this link they get somesong.mp3 but I want to change it before they download. I found many scripts that made it possible but didn't get exact right script. Because I want that when the user clicks on download link the file downloading should be started just after the click with the new file name as I want to use. But in all the scripts which I downloaded, first the php processing starts for a few minute (I think it depends on the file size) and then rename it. Is there a way to direct force the file in header with new file name. Thanks.

    Hello all, I was helped out today with a command, but it doesn't seem to be working. This is the command: find /home/me/download/ -type f -name "*.rm" -exec ffmpeg -i {} -sameq {}.mp3 && rm {}\; The shell returns find: missing argument to `-exec' What I am basically trying to do is go through a directory recursively (if it has other directories) and run the ffmpeg command on the .rm file types and convert them to .mp3 file types. Once this is done, remove the .rm file that has just been converted. I appreciate any help on this.

  • Detecting when HTML5 audio is finished playing (more than once)?

    I am having a problem detecting when an tag is finished playing an mp3. When I do something like this: myAudio.addEventListener("ended", function() { alert("ended"); }); It only occurs the first time the audi is played. When I play the audio again, nothing happens. The same thing occurs when I use the onended=doThis(); method. I've heard maybe there is a way to do it in jquery, but I haven't been able to get it to work. I've also heard there might be a way to fix it by changing the audio div id everytime the mp3 is played, but this doesn't work for me because I need the id to stay the same. Anyone got any ideas?

    Hello, I have written a script which fetches a distribution, given the URL. After downloading the distribution, it compares the md5 hashes to verify that the file has been downloaded properly. This is how I do it. def download(package_name, url): import urllib2 downloader = urllib2.urlopen(url) package = downloader.read() package_file_path = os.path.join('/tmp', package_name) package_file = open(package_file_path, "w") package_file.write(package) package_file.close() I wonder if there is any better(more pythonic) way to do what I have done using the above code snippet. Also, once the package is downloaded this is what is done: def install_package(package_name): if package_name.endswith('.tar'): import tarfile tarfile.open('/tmp/' + package_name) tarfile.extract('/tmp') import shlex import subprocess installation_cmd = 'python %ssetup.py install' %('/tmp/'+package_name) subprocess.Popen(shlex.split(installation_cmd) As there are a number of imports for the install_package method, i wonder if there is a better way to do this. I`d love to have some constructive criticism and suggestions for improvement. Also, I have only implemented the install_package method for .tar files; would there be a better manner by which I could install .tar.gz and .zip files too without having to write seperate methods for each of these?

  • Windows 7, file properties - Is "date accessed" ALWAYS 100% accurate?

    Hello, Here's the situation: I went on vacation for a couple of weeks, but before I left, I took the harddrive out of my computer and hid it in a different location. Upon coming back on Monday and putting the harddrive back in my computer, I right-clicked on different files to see their properties. Interestingly enough, several files had been accessed during the time I was gone! I right-clicked different files in various locations on the harddrive, and all of these suspect files had been accessed within a certain time range (Sunday, ?January ?09, ?2011, approximately ??between 6:52:16 PM - 7:16:25 PM). Some of them had been accessed at the exact same time--down to the very second. This makes me think that someone must have done a search on my harddrive for certain types of files and then copied all those files to some other medium. The Windows 7 installation on this harddrive is password protected, but NOT encrypted, so they could have easily put the harddrive into an enclosure/toaster to access it from a different computer. Of course I did not right-click every single file on my computer, but did so in different folders. For instance, one of the folders I went through has different types of files: .mp3, ,prproj, .3gp, .mpg, .wmv, .xmp, .txt with file-sizes ranging from 2 KB to 29.7 MB (there is also a sub-folder in this folder which contains only .jpg files); however, of all these different types of files in this folder and its subfolder, all of them had been accessed (including the .jpg files from the sub-folder) EXCEPT the .mp3 files (if it makes any difference, the .mp3 files in this folder range in size from 187 KB to 4881 KB). Additionally, this sub-folder which contained only .jpg files (48 .jpg files to be exact) was not accessed during this time--only the .jpg files within it were accessed-- (between 6:57:03 PM - 6:57:08 PM). I thought that perhaps this was some kind of Windows glitch that was displaying the wrong access date, but then I looked at the "date created" and "date modified" for all of these files in question, and their created/modified dates and times were spot on correct. My first thought was that someone put the harddrive into an enclosure/toaster and viewed the files; but then I realized that this was impossible because several of the files had been accessed at the same exact time down to the second. So this made me think that the only other way the "date accessed" could have changed would have been if someone copied the files. Is there any chance at all whatsoever that this is some kind of Windows glitch or something, or is it a fact that someone was indeed accessing my files (and if someone was accessing my files, am I right about the files in question having been copied)? Is there any other possibility for what could have happened? Do I need to use any kinds of forensics tools to further investigate this matter (and if so, which tools), or is there any other way in which I can be certain of what took place in that timeframe the day before I got back? Or is what I see with Windows 7 good enough (i.e. accurate and truthful)? Thanks in advance, and please let me know if any other details are required on my part.

  • Why didn't 12.04 install?

    Ok, so I've installed Ubuntu many times on my computer.. Normally on the same partition, and WIndows would always delete Ubuntu(I don't know how.. it just happens) if i go away from keyboard during boot and it chooses Windows automatically because I took to long. So i tried to reinstall again, but after the fifth time it wouldn't let me, and told me to check "wubi-12.04-rev266.log". It took a while to find, but when i found it, I had no idea what any of it meant, as I'm no programmer.I first tried this the day Precise Pangolin came out. SO skip ahead 2.5 months, when I finally found this file, and i then got the idea of making a new partition to install Ubuntu on, but I used wubi, like I always did. It didn't look like it would f anything up, so I did it. it went through all the downloads, extracting, etc. Which took about 40 minutes total, then ended with an error message saying to check "wubi-12.04-rev266.log". i did.     Ubuntu 10.04 (code name Lucid Lynx) will come loaded with the Ubuntu One music store. Rhythmbox will have the Ubuntu One music store integrated in it. It’ll also allow users to download purchased music to their local machine. Ubuntu One Music Store Users will be able to access Ubuntu One music store from the sidebar of Rhythmbox. The music store is a web page that opens in the Rhythmbox player. There are albums listed on the home page of the Ubuntu One music store page. Ubuntu One music store is powered by 7digital, which is a leading digital B2B media delivery company based in London and operating globally. Canonical, the company behind Ubuntu, has partnered with 7digital to bring the music store to it’s users, integrating it with Rhythmbox and it’s cloud storage service UbuntuOne which was launched last year. The home screen of the Ubuntu One music store displays popular albums and functionality to browse and search. You can search for Artists, Tracks, Albums, or a combination of all three. Users will also be able to browse the store alphabetically, or based on different music genres. Once you select a specific artist, all their available albums are arranged in a grid. Once an album is selected, you’ll will be able to download specific songs or the whole album. You’ll also be allowed to preview different songs for 60 seconds. You’ll be able to buy tracks using a credit card or with PayPal. The purchased tracks will be visible under Library \ Purchased from Ubuntu One. The downloaded tracks are also synced with your UbuntuOne account. This means that you’ll be able to access your tracks from any where on the web. The default UbuntuOne account comes with 2 GB free storage, however, you can also purchase additional space if you need it.   All the music is in mp3 format which is not supported by default in Ubuntu. However, you can get mp3 playback functionality using GStreamer multimedia framework. Conclusion All in all the Ubuntu One music store is a positive move to enhance the user experience and also increase the popularity of Canonical in bringing Ubuntu closer to regular users. This would also provide Canonical to make some revenue in collaboration with 7digital.
