    I am really struggling to get this installed. I have tried the suggestions here in an attempt to rectify any possible corruption. I mounted the disk image to 'G' to do an offline install.   • Enabling Surround sound on a Realtek ALC892 via SPDIF, on Windows 7

    I have a problem with my ALC892, on an ASRock mainboard (ASRock 890FX Deluxe4). I get only stereo sounds if I use SPDIF connection, in general. My amp shows that is getting surround sound only when I use the Test feature of Windows 7. This test feature allows to know which formats are supported by the audio chip. The tests render correctly both Dolby Digital and DTS. You can find this test under Sounds, Playback Devices, Select Digital Audio, then "Properties". I am using Windows 7 x64, with the latest drivers from the official Realtek website. I also tested other driver versions, both from the Realtek website and from the ASRock one, but had no luck. Thanks for the help. Some specs: CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 965 MOBO: ASRock 890FX Deluxe4 (with onboard Realtek ALC892) Audio amp: Onkyo R-380 (works fine with other sources like PS3 and Xbox 360)

  • Is it possible to install Canon EOS T3 Camera Drivers on Windows 7 Embedded

    I have a computer running Windows 7 Embedded. It's an embedded system that will be used in a industrial setting. It needs to be connected to a Canon EOS camera and download pictures from the camera. Other versions of windows come with the Canon drivers so Canon does not provide them as a download on their website. In the past, I had a similar issue with the "N" version of Microsoft Windows Starter and had to download the "Microsoft Media Feature Pack" which then installed the drivers. I attempted to install that on this device, but understandably it complains that its not applicable for this version of windows. So, is there there a feature pack or some other sort of download available that will install the camera drivers? Alternatively, is there some place to get the drivers and manually install them. I am using SQL management studio (sql server 2008) to run queries and some of the fields that come back are varchar(max) for example and it has a lot of information - Is there a zoom feature to open the window and show me the contents with vertical and horizontal scrollbars? I remember there was, i thought it was F2 but i must have been mistaken as it doesn't work Now i have to scroll horizontal on the field and its really difficult to see everything Also some of the fields contain new line codes etc so it would be great if the zoom feature would display the info using the new line codes etc Any body know how to do this?

I think (but I'm not sure because I never looked at output before) the PS script that I have worked before but after some problems with IIS7 installation it stopped working.   • Cisco ASA: Allowing and Denying VPN Access based on membership to an AD group

    I have a Cisco ASA 5505 connecting to an Active Directory server for VPN authentication. Usually we'd restrict this to a particular OU, but in this case users which need access are spread across multiple OUs. So, I'd like to use a group to specify which users have remote access. I've created the group and added the users, but I'm having trouble figuring out how to deny users which aren't in that group. Right now, if someone connects they get assigned the correct group policy "companynamera" if they are in that group, so the LDAP mapping is working. However, users who are not in that group still authenticate fine, and their group policy becomes the LDAP path of their first group, i.e. CN=Domain Users,CN=Users,DC=example,DC=com, and then are still allowed access. How do I add a filter so that I can map everything that isn't "companynamera" to no access?   • SQLServer 2008 FailOver and Load Balancing

    I have a project with a 2TB database ( 450.000.000 rows). I need to provide to the proyect a solution that gives FailOver and load Balacing, what do you recommend? We are going to use a NetApp Filer for the Data Files and for the File System of the Proyect. I read that SQl Clustering does not provide load balacing. If I cannnot have this feature and I have to go only to the FailOver what Server ( I presume that the key feature here is memory) would you recomend. We are adding 1.000.000 rows a day. Once the rows is inserted we are doing a lot of updates to that row for about 1 week then the row get static. Because of this I am thinking in some kind of history table or database or something like that. I am open to the Os servers implementation, I was thinking of a windows 2008 server with cluster but this depend of the database solution

  • Docking Station Disabling/Enabling Network Connection

    Whenever I dock my laptop onto my docking station, Windows disables my Wireless Network Connection and enables my Wired Network Connection. Whenever I undock my laptop, Windows disables my Wired Network Connection and enables my Wireless Network Connection. Is there a way to disable this feature? After Windows performs the automatic disabling/enabling, I run into errors when I try to disable the now-enabled connection, specifically "It is not possible to disable the connection at this time. This connection may be using one or more protocols that do not support Plug-and-Play, or it may have been initiated by another user or the system account." I'm assuming the latter portion of the error is true ... my network connections are being enabled/disabled under a system account. Regardless, I'd just like to disable the feature altogether. For reference, I'm working with Windows XP Professional on a Dell Latitude D630. Thanks in advance!

  • Text Editor that hilights all instances of selection for Mac

    On Windows, I use Notepad++ which has the great feature of when I select a word, all instances of that word are also highlighted in the same document. I have found it very helpful for finding patterns in giant log files. I am wondering if there is a similar feature in a text editor on the Mac. I have looked into the documentation for TextWrangler and TextMate to no avail. Hopefully there is a way to do this so I can be more productive when working on a Mac. -- Note: in Notepad++ you do not have to do a keyboard shortcut to make this work... you just select some text and it does the highlighting for you automatically.

I have also enabled Intel(R) speedstep feature in my processor(Pentium Dual core E5200) to decrease the power consumed by the processor with the help of Granola software. What might be the reason for the audio less video converter by xvideo service thief? Could it be the enabling of intel(R) speedstep? Because the software works fine when its not enabled. Is this possible?That the output some applications can be altered when enabling this processor feature?

  • How to share internet over VPN and inside a virtual machine (Windows)?

    ` My final goal is to have a virtual machine at work in which anything that happen inside (tcp, udp, ping, ...) will use the Internet connection of a computer at home. So, if inside this VM should I open an Internet browser to a site such as "show my IP", my home IP should be printed. I am also looking for a way to debug/develop a software inside this VM, but I would like to tunnel only the connections of this software, not the full graphical interface, this is why a Remote Desktop solution won't fit me. The connection between the both computer should be secured somehow, like in a SSH tunnel. This ultimately should allow me to have a portable VM in which I can connect to whatever networks I have access at home, in a secure way. This is my configuration: At work, I have a LAN-connected desktop computer, with Windows 7 Professional Edition as a host [computer W] On this same computer, I have a Virtual Box machine running Windows XP [computer V] At home, I have a laptop computer, running Windows 7 Home Edition [computer H] This laptop is connected to a Livebox 2 broadband modem by Wifi. What I am trying to do is to sit at work in front of the virtual machine [V], and connect to a webpage as if the request was issued from the laptop [H] at home, and the data should be securely tunneled between the both. But if I am using internet directly inside [W], it should use the normal LAN interface at work. To achieve my goal, I first try using VPN, than SSH tunneling, without success. I first tried to install Teamviewer between [W] and [H]. This is working fine, I can send files, share desktop, etc. Teamviewer has a VPN mode that creates a new VPN network interface with its own IP, both on computer [W] and [H]. This allowed me to connect [H] as a network computer inside [W] and I was able to share files, but not to share Internet. At this point, I tried to use from [W] the Internet as if I was at home. I setup a route (using route add from command line in [W]) in order to instruct each packet going to a given website to pass by the new VPN interface on [W], with the hope it will be forwarded to [H], but the webpage was simply inaccessible. I then tried to setup a Windows VPN connection between [W] and [H], using the Windows 7 VPN feature. [H] was the server and [W] the client. But it failed: I got the "Unable to join a remote PC while trying to VPN" 720 Error when I was setting up the client on [W]. I think the problem is the Livebox 2 that could blocks the packets. But I am not sure of this: 1) with Teamviewer it works fine, 2) Livebox 2 has a configuration page for port mapping that gives the proper configuration to map VPN ports as an example so I guess that it should allow it, 3) I opened the ports 1723 (TCP) and 500 (UDP) according to some forums. Virtual box has a network configuration parameter in which I can use the VPN network interface created by Teamviewer as a bridged connection. This is suppose to work in the sense that all packets issued by the virtual machine [V] is supposed to go directly to [H]. But I had no internet connection inside [V]. Using the NAT mode, [V] has internet. For me this is the feature that I look for: filtering all connections from the virtual box application to the VPN network interface, and the remaining should use the normal LAN interface. Apart from the build-in feature of VBox, I even do not know if it is possible to route the packet from a given application to a given interface. Finally I tried also SSH tunneling, but this is not the solution I looked for. Using an external SSH server (Linux), I was able to create a localhost connection on [W] (or [V]), using something like 'ssh -N -D server[H]' in order to allow a web browser located in [W] to connect to any website using the SOCKS 5 proxy created locally (SOCKS is a build-in feature of SSH). But repeating the same operation on windows, using a windows SSH server inside [W] (I tried freeSSHd), it failed: SFTP worked, but not the SOCKS tunneling, it was like the browser in [H] did not find internet. Finally only Teamviewer looked able to create a VPN between [W] and [H], but I am not able to use it, as I want, I mean using the Internet connection of [H] sitting in front of [W]. I also tried to bridge the VPN interface and the wifi interface inside [H], but it blocked my laptop, and I tried also the Internet Connection Sharing, trying to share on [H] the wifi connection over the VPN interface. This fails also, but it seems because Teamviewer actually use the wifi interface to be able to provide the VPN link, so I guess I am creating a recursive loop. I do not know what to try next...   • New Outlook 2003 message, cursor sometimes goes to body, sometimes goes to "To:" field

    I've got an Outlook 2003 client that, when you click on "New message", about half the time the cursor defaults to being in the "body" of the message, and the other half of the time it defaults to the cursor being in the "To:" field. Anyone know why this might be happening? Thought it might be related to having Word set, or not set, to be the default email editor, but that had no effect. Also, this particular user reports that, on their previous machine, it always defaults to the "To:" field. I happen to still have that machine around, unmodified from when it was removed from the, and they are correct - it never goes to the body. I also read that some people had this issue and turned off the "Outlook today" feature to fix it, with mixed results. However, in this case the "Outlook today" feature isn't even turned on.

  • Windows 7 offline files - work temporarily offline even if network connection works

    Sometimes I am connected via VPN to a network containing the server where files are stored which are cached by Windows offline files feature. Sometimes the connection works good and working this way is not a problem - on other times working is quite a pain because of high latency when working with the files in the Windows explorer. Is there an interactive way how a user (with admin permissions) can temporary suspend online usage of offline files? I already activated the "Transparent caching" group policy feature (Computer Configuration Policies Administrative Templates Networks Offline Files) with a network latency of 200msec but from my experience even if I get ping times to the file server of less than 40msec online usage is quite tenacious. Setting low latency times at this point causes the offline files often to toggle which makes problems with some applications working with several files and requires them to be consistent (like SVN client).

    I would like to be able to browse the Internet and "drag" available MP3 files of various podcast episodes into my own private RSS feed. I would like to then subscribe to this RSS feed with iTunes. Do you know of any applications or services that would do this? (I subscribe to IT Conversations and they have a private RSS feed that you can create of their episodes. I like this feature very much. If only I had such a feature that would work more generally). One of the reasons I am looking for this, that my iPod Touch has problems handling podcast playlists that span multiple RSS feeds.

  • Visual Studio Paired Editor Panes

    Is there any way to make Visual Studio have "paired" editor panes, somewhat like XCode's Assistant Editor feature? More specifically, I'd like to replicate the XCode feature of having a .cpp file's .h partner be automatically open in an adjacent editor panel. So, when a .cpp file is opened in a text editor panel (let's say, on the left of the screen), its analogous .h file will open in another panel (on the right). That way both can be edited on the same screen at the same time, without the need to manually place both files in their respective editor panes. Hope that makes sense, I'm not really sure what terminology to use in order to search for existing solutions.

  • How can I share a Windows 7 library with anonymous access without using a Homegroup?

    The "homegroup" feature is useless, because it requires a password, and therefore doesn't support anonymous, no-hassle access to shares from devices such as my Sony Bravia TV and non-Windows7 machines. So I turned off homegroup and reverted to the standard shared folders protocol. I'd like to share my Music "Library", so I can play files from my TV through the Surround Sound System, but there seems to be no option to share a library folder other than through a homegroup. I don't want to have to individually share the folders that belong to the library, because that would defeat the purposes of the library, which is to manage which folders are included in the library while also providing an easily accessible view of them all at once. Does anyone know how to share a Windows 7 library without that useless homegroup feature?

  • Taskbar Network "Repair" menu option gone in Windows 7

    I used to LOVE that feature in Windows XP! Just right-clicked on the WiFi icon on the Taskbar (lower right-hand corner), then Repair. It doesn't take that long, and it usually helped me since I constantly go back and forth between LAN at work, VPN on WiFi from work and home, and also VPN to my own personal server. Even if you didn't need to refresh, doing so never hurts! Unfortunately, the feature seems to be removed from Win7 :( Now you can check for problems, but it only does the refresh if it thinks it needs too, and the whole process tasks so darn long! Is there a way to Repair my WiFi connection quickly and easily on Win7?

  • disable subtitles in mkv in quicktime

    I want to watch movies without subtitles. And I also like QuickTime for the feature that it could extend the frame to fit the screen (even though it hides some area from the sides). I have Perian installed and I want to watch mkv files, but they are all with subtitles. In QuickTime in View-Subtitles the only option is Off, but still I can see the subtitles. VLC plays same movies without subtitles, but it doesn't have this nice feature of extending the movie frame so that it fits the screen.
