  • SQL SERVER – Installing SQL Server Data Tools and SSRS

    This example is from the Beginning SSRS by Kathi Kellenberger. Supporting files are available with a free download from the www.Joes2Pros.com web site. If you have installed SQL Server, but are missing the Data Tools or Reporting Services Double-click the SQL Server 2012 installation media. Click the Installation link on the left to view the Installation options. Click the top link New SQL Server stand-alone installation or add features to an existing installation. Follow the SQL Server Setup wizard until you get to the Installation Type screen. At that screen, select Add features to an existing instance of SQL Server 2012. Click Next to move to the Feature Selection page. Select Reporting Services – Native and SQL Server Data Tools. If the Management Tools have not been installed, go ahead and choose them as well. Continue through the wizard and reboot the computer at the end of the installation if instructed to do so. Configure Reporting Services If you installed Reporting Services during the installation of the SQL Server instance, SSRS will be configured automatically for you. If you install SSRS later, then you will have to go back and configure it as a subsequent step. Click Start > All Programs > Microsoft SQL Server 2012 > Configuration Tools > Reporting Services Configuration Manager > Connect on the Reporting Services Configuration Connection dialog box. On the left-hand side of the Reporting Services Configuration Manager, click Database. Click the Change Database button on the right side of the screen. Select Create a new report server database and click Next. Click through the rest of the wizard accepting the defaults. This wizard creates two databases: ReportServer, used to store report definitions and security, and ReportServerTempDB which is used as scratch space when preparing reports for user requests. Now click Web Service URL on the left-hand side of the Reporting Services Configuration Manager. Click the Apply button to accept the defaults. If the Apply button has been grayed out, move on to the next step. This step sets up the SSRS web service. The web service is the program that runs in the background that communicates between the web page, which you will set up next, and the databases. The final configuration step is to select the Report Manager URL link on the left. Accept the default settings and click Apply. If the Apply button was already grayed out, this means the SSRS was already configured. This step sets up the Report Manager web site where you will publish reports. You may be wondering if you also must install a web server on your computer. SQL Server does not require that the Internet Information Server (IIS), the Microsoft web server, be installed to run Report Manager.   • [FLASH CS4] Button acting as a scroll with mouse event in AS3?

    Hi all! I'm new here, just found these forums on Google. First of all, I want to appologise if there is some topics like this, but I searched whole forums and didn't find any that finishes my problem. Now the important one. As I stated in topic title, I need an AS3 code that's doing the thing. This is what I want to accomplish. I have a MC(image) in the center of my screen, and have two buttons, one on right and one on left side of that MC. I want to scroll (image is like a menu) that MC left or right on mouse events, down or over. So, I just want to change MCs X value while holding mouse button on buttons or just hovering over them. I have managed to do that, but it's only moving by one value I have entered after a mouse event.   • jQuery fade li elemet and cycle it when mouse hovered.

    I'm trying to recreate an effect in jQuery, where an element(<li> <img>) will be cycled and has a fading effect when hovered. The '<li>' contains '<img>' (image screenshots). when the mouse is on top of element it will keep cycling all that are in '<ul>' with a fading effect. when the mouse is away it will stop cycling the list. I also want to add a pager where you can navigate to the list. My Existing Code: link text My Problem: The current code has some problem with the pagination, it added all images that can be seen on the code. instead of 1-8 only, it continued to add another 1-8 and another. Second problem is, It also start cycling and fading when the page loads. The cycling and fading should only be working when the mouse is on top of the element. I don't know if the 'Cycle Plugin' is really required on this approach, I wan't it to be minimal as much as possible. I just use 'Cycle Plugin' because it's a quick answer to my problem.     There is no option in Windows Explorer to scan a particular drive (or file) on demand by right clicking on it in Windows Explorer as we had in Windows 7 with Microsoft Security Essentials or like other antivirus solutions. I know we can run a custom scan for the particular drive or specific folder but that process is too lengthy and time consuming. The guide How to Add a "Windows Defender" Cascading Desktop Context Menu in Windows 8 explains how we can add Windows Defender in the desktop right click menu, so I'm curious, is there a way to add it in the Windows Explorer right click menu to launch a search whenever I need to?

  • MS Access: Why can I no longer right-click to add a hyperlink?

    I've been working in an MS Access system for a while now. It's a form system where users enter data, add links, contacts etc. Pretty simple. On the form is a hyperlink field. For months I could right-click the field, and from the popup context menu select Hyperlink Add a hyperlink (something like that). This would allow me to browse to a network location, select a folder, click okay, and have the path automatically added to the field. Then it stopped working. It works fine for everyrone else but not me. What's stranger, if I go to another machine and login, I get the functionality back. Any ideas?

  • Is it possible to have a scheduled task click a button in Windows?

    One of my clients has an application that can not be run from command line or via API but needs to be run on an scheduled basis. It would require that I launch the application if it's not already running and then click a button. This task would exist on a server. I had read about AutoHotKey but it doesn't sound like it can click buttons from a Scheduled Task. Does anyone have ideas on how to do this? NOTE: As I answered below... I know this is a hack. It would be better to have an app that can actually be scheduled to run. Unfortunately (for me) this application isn't going to be replaced as it is connected to the client's beloved inventory management system and the entire deal is proprietary. So I just need to find an option to attempt this (might not be completely reliable I know). Thanks.

  • Make Ms Word activate window of file if it is already open when I double click the file's icon?

    When I try to open a word document that is already open, I want it to just activate the window where the file is open. How can I do that? sometimes it takes time to check if an ms word document is already open, I don't to have to have to check through a bunch of open word documents to see if it's in there or not, I just want to double click the icon of a word document, and if it's open then go to it, if not then open it. With the doc/docx or shortcut to the doc/docx , I have some files where when I double click , it activates it when already open. I have other files where double clicking will bring up a "file in use" dialog box. I can't find what is the cause. I want it to always activate the window rather than reopen it. update- maybe that is default behaviour to activate when already open, and after a crash I had that stopped. i'll try deleting the working files and starting ms word again, idea from here

  • Why can't I right click on flash videos in Chrome? (Ubuntu 9.10)

    I'm trying to change the "quality" to low of a Hulu video so I can full screen it with out it being choppy but right click does nothing. When I right click in firefox it brings up a menu. I'm running Chrome on Ubuntu 9.10, is any one else having this issue I tried Google and got nothing back. I use chrome as my main browser, I have to switch to firefox every time I watch Hulu videos. Is there another way I cant change the quality of the flash video in Chrome?

  • 10 steps to enable &lsquo;Anonymous Access&rsquo; for your SharePoint 2010 site

    What’s Anonymous Access? Anonymous access to your SharePoint site enables all visitors to view your SharePoint site anonymously without having to log in. With this blog I’d like to go through an easy step wise procedure to enable/set up anonymous access. Before you actually enable anonymous access on the site, you’ll have to change some settings at the web app level. So let’s start with that: Prerequisite(s): 1. A hosted SharePoint 2010 farm/server. 2. An existing SharePoint site. I just thought I’d mention the above pre-reqs, since the steps mentioned below would’nt be valid or a different type of a site. Step 1: In Central Administration, under Application Management, click on the Manage web applications. Step 2: Now select the site you want to enable anonymous access and click on the Authentication Providers icon. Step 3: On the modal window click on the Default zone. Step 4: Now under the Edit Authentication section, check Enable anonymous access and click Save. This is basically to make the Anonymous Access authentication mechanism available at the web app level @ IIS. Now, web application will allow anonymous access to be set. 5. Going back to Web Application Management click on the Anonymous Policy icon. Step 6: Also before we proceed any further, under the Anonymous Access Restrictions (@ web app mgmt.) select your Zone and set the Permissions to None – No policy and click Save. Step 7:  Now lets navigate to your top level site collection for the web application. Click the Site Actions > Site Settings. Under Users and Permissions click Site permissions. Step 8: Under Users and Permissions, click on Site Permissions. Step 9: Under the Edit tab, click on Anonymous Access. Step 10: Choose whether you want Anonymous users to have access to the entire Web site or to lists and libraries only, and then click on OK. You should now be able to see the view as below under your permissions Also keep in mind: If you are trying to access the site from a browser within the domain, then you’ll need to change some browser settings to see the after affects. Normally this is because the browsers (Internet Explorer) is set to log in automatically to intranet zone only , not sure if you have explicitly changed the zones and added it to trusted sites. If this is from a box within your domain please try to access the site by temporarily changing the Internet Explorer setting to Anonymous Logon on the zone that the site is added example "Intranet" and try . You will find the same settings by clicking on Tools > Internet Options > Security Tab.

  • Can't get my object to point at the mouse.

    I'm using a combination of SDL and OpenGL in a sort of crash course project to teach myself how this all works. I'm really only interested in OpenGL as a way to use acceleration in 2D games so I just need this to work in a 2D plane. I've just hit a wall and I need some advice!

    Hello, I am trying to manipulate Facebook pages in various ways, using Javascript browser elements. I'd need to be able to insert some text into the top "Type something..." box that shows on my site's fan page (or alternately, "click into" the field and I can type the text using GUI scripting), then click the "submit" button as if i'd done it by hand. It's tricky since the page is very Ajax heavy and I can't find the names of the elements I need to manipulate, let alone how to manipulate them as they're not using traditional form fields I'm used to. Can anyone help me figure out how to do this with javascript commands, which I'd be calling from Applescript on the Mac? Many thanks in advance. UPDATE Thanks for the comments below. Believe me, I am not trying to do anything spammy or douchy, mainly posting links to products that have gone live on page facebook page, but do it during the business day when people are on rather than at strange hours of the day. I am located in Japan so my sleep period is right when people are using FB. The solution I came up with for clicking the button was got using UI Browser, an outstanding tool if you're trying to script on the Mac.     Hello, I have created a jQuery script (with help) that works great however I need it to automate/animate itself without using the click function, I just want to know is this possible and if so, how? Similar to a slide-show. Basically the code allows me to click on an image and hide/show a DIV, while changing a list of elements such as class/id name. And this is must done without id, class attributes which aren't available for that hrefs. The problem is in this: $("#my-container a"). Any help would be appreciated!   • How to change mouse pointer icon in Xfce Debian 7 Wheezy?

    I copied the cursor theme (oxy-neon or Oxygen Neon) to /usr/share/icons and from Applications Menu - Settings - Mouse, I am able to see the new theme. I clicked on it and the pointer doesn't change. However the text typing icon ('I'), busy icon, hand icon, and resize window icons got changed. The pointer icon remains the same, the black Adwaita. I removed the Adwaita folder from the icons folder, and still the mouse pointer doesn't change. Is the pointer theme specified elsewhere? I have no setting under home directory. I tried logging out, restart, restarting xfwm4, but nothing works. I just found that the icon pointer changes when the pointer is inside Firefox, but it's not consistent. It keeps changing when I click menu items. Very weird. Any idea how to fix this?   • Is it possible to run several virtual machines each with independent mouse+keyboard on a single PC?

    My goal is to instead of buying 4 separate basic PCs (plus the obvious peripherals), buy just one fast PC and the peripherals. I'm wondering if I can use a more powerful computer, say, one with core i7 and plenty of RAM, with 2 video cards (total of 4 monitor outputs) to run 4 or more virtual machines (WinXPs) so instead of having 4 individual machines, I'll be having just one. However, the catch is, is it possible to have a pair of mouse and keyboard + input/output audio for each of these virtual machines?

  • Why do scrollbars stop working when the mouse is too far away?

    Dragging a (Windows) scrollbar only works as long as the cursor is not too far away from the scrollbar itself. How can I 'fix' this bevaviour? Is there some kind of threshold in the registry? Tip: to see this behavior: click on a scrollbar (dont' release the mouse button) and move up/down. This works, as long as you don't move too much to the left.

  • Can I extend my monitors, mouse, keyboard accross a room?

    I am considering building my next PC into a server rack case, the reason is I am getting a server cabinet and will be putting in a few servers in it. It will be in my room where I use my main PC as well and in my case it just makes sense to build my next PC into this cabinet/rack. So my main concern, will I be able to extend my mouse, keyboard, and 2-3 monitors10-15 feet accross a room from my server rack to my desk?
