  Hi, I have an XElement which I am getting after parsing an xml. This XElement needs to be read only when the need arises so, I have stored it in a list for future use. I have to read this XElement using LinQ. XDocument doc = XDocument.Parse(DataManager.offeringElements[index].DataElem.ToString()); var docNode = from dataNode in doc.Descendants("DataLinks") select new { Offering = dataNode .Element("link").Value, linkUrl = dataNode.Element("link").Attribue ("href").Value }; the Xelement has the following nodes a. Management b. Analytics c. Development My problem is that I am not able to read all the three nodes.I am able to get only the first node. Where am I going wrong?

  Problem: I have a QT based multiplatform (win,mac,*nix) application that parses ascii files containing decimal numbers. parsing is done using a variety of different code pieces that use anything from qt string stuff, c++ stdin, oldstyle scanf, etc. ascii files have always the '.' (dot) as separated decimal (e.g. in the file to be parsed 1/10 is written 0.1 as standard in many countries). people using the application within a OS localized for using comma separated decimal encounter a lot of problems (e.g. for french users scanf expect to find 0,1 as a valid textual representation of 1/10 and if they find 0.1 scanf will parse it as 0) How can I be sure that the OS Locale indication of how decimal point has to be written is always ignored? Is it safe assuming that adding QLocale::setDefault(QLocale(QLocale::English,QLocale::UnitedStates)); is enough to get rid of all these problems? Any suggestion for portable ways of setting the locale globally?

  Hi, Im wondering how to parse a url into an URL object(of some kind) in C. So that I would be able to extract key/val objects from a querystring. • How to batch retrieve documents with mongoDB?

  Hello everyone, I have an application that queries data from a mongoDB using the mongoDB C# driver something like this: public void main() { foreach (int i in listOfKey) { list.add(getObjectfromDB(i); } } public myObject getObjFromDb(int primaryKey) { document query = new document(); query["primKey"] = primaryKey; document result= mongo["myDatabase"]["myCollection"].findOne(query); return parseObject(result); } On my local (development) machine to get 100 object this way takes less than a second. However, I recently moved the database to a server on the internet, and this query takes about 30 seconds to execute for the same number of object. Furthermore, looking at the mongoDB log, it seems to open about 8-10 connections to the DB to perform this query. So what I'd like to do is have the query the database for an array of primaryKeys and get them all back at once, then do the parsing in a loop afterwards, using one connection if possible.   I am parsing html file with the help of the html agility pack to extract the table data from the html file. But there is some html files where there is no ending tags which is optional or there is no starting tag which is also optional.So html agility pack does not parse that html page properly.If I open the content of that html file in the notepad++ then with the option TestFX-->TestFX HTML Tidy-->TiDy clean document and make the content tidy like this. And now this file If I parse with the html agility pack then it parse it properly. Making html page tidy with notepad++ is best option. So I don't know but user can not do this like first he/she makes the page tidy with notepad++ and then go ahead.Then what should I do ?

• UITableView: Need a liveUpdate (Huge amount of cells)

  Hey all, I have a UITableView which shows some information. The informations are from a XMLFile. The Xmlfile is pretty big, about 500 entries. I don't want that the user has to wait until the parsing has finished, i want to add cell by cell to the TableView. I don't have my expected liveUpdate which i'm searching for. The intervall the method is called is about 0.001 to 0.0025 seconds. Any ideas to fix that? Sebastian

I tried: sending dates using the ISO-8601 format, (JSON.parse returns a string), sending dates such as "/Date(1198908717056)/" as explained here (same result). I'm starting to doubt that Windows 8's JSON.parse method supports dates as even when parsing the output of its own JSON.stringify method does not return a date type.   Hi, I wanted to have a GUI front-end for a script that accepts numerous command-line options, most of them are UNIX paths. So I thought rather than typing them in (even with auto-completion) every time, I'd create a GUI front end which contains text boxes with buttons beside them, which when clicked will invoke the file browser dialogue. Later, I thought I'd extend this to other scripts which would sure require a different set of GUI elements. This made me think if there's any existing app that would let me create a GUI dialog, after parsing some kind of description of the items that I want that window should contain. I know of programs like Zenity, but I think it's doesn't give me what I want. For example, if I were to use it for the first script, it'll end up flashing sequence of windows in succession rather than getting everything done from a single window. So, basically I'm looking at some program that lets me create a window from a text description, probably XML or the like. Please suggest. Thanks Jeenu

  Hello! I'm writing a OSX PDF Workflow in ObjC and C. A single executable ("UNIX Tool" as named in the Apple reference), that reads in the spooled PDF file, does some parsing. I'd like to give more functionality by enabling a key-down event handling, meaning - when user opens print dialog in an application - and chooses to left-mouse-click on the custom made pdf workflow to run it - depending on if a keyboard key is down (i.e. option key, but "any key down" would be enough for me) when running that workflow - a decision is made in the code. I have read NSEvent and Carbon Event Manager reference and it seems that in this case (a plain unix executable + not run as root) it's not possible. Or is it? Many thanks in advance, Kroko

• Can I use Linq to project a new typed datarow?

  I'm writing a plugin that will allow parameters to 'set it up.' But I predict the user won't always want to set up every aspect of the function. function This_Function(a,b,c,d); For instance, maybe they'll only want to set up a and c, but not b and d (they'll just prefer to leave those as defaults). How do I write the function (or the parameters for that matter) so that the user can customize which functions they would prefer to pass? • Is it safe to validate a URL with a regexp?

  In my web app I've got a form field where the user can enter an URL. I'm already doing some preliminary client-side validation and I was wondering if I could use a regexp to validate if the entered string is a valid URL. So, two questions: Is it safe to do this with a regexp? A URL is a complex beast, and just like you shouldn't use a regexp for parsing HTML, I'm worried that it might be unsuitable for a URL as well. If it can be done, what would be a good regexp for the task? (I know that Google turns up countless regexps, but I'm worried about their quality). My goal is to prevent a situation where the URL appears in the web page and is unusable by the browser.

In several situations however, I only need to check if values are numeric; I don't actually need or use the conversion. So, I was thinking about writing a simple function to test if a string is a double: template<typename T> bool is_double(const T& s) { try { boost::lexical_cast<double>(s); return true; } catch (...) { return false; } } My question is, are there any optimizing compilers that would drop out the lexical_cast here since I never actually use the value? • Using the windows api and C++, how could I load an exe from the hard drive and run it in its own thread?

  For the sake of learning I'm trying to do what the OS does when launching a program ie. parsing a PE file and giving it a thread of execution. If I have two exe's one called foo.exe and the other bar.exe, how could I have foo.exe load the contents of bar.exe into memory then have it execute from there in its own thread? I know how to get it into memory using MapViewOfFile or by simple loading the contents on the hard drive into a buffer. I'm assuming simply copying the contents of bar.exe on disk into its own suspended thread and running it wouldn't work. I am semi-familiar with PE file internals. All help is very much appreciated, of course :)

  Hi , I am working on extracting Parts Of speech (POS) using xml documents and I have a englishPCFG.ser.gz file which is used in extracting POS on xml files. I cannot send this .gz file as input in HDFS directory, but my program uses it for parsing xml files. The file is in my local directory. I am getting "File Not Found" error when I run my mapreduce program. How can i make it available to mapper? I tried placing the file in HDFS where my xml files are present. I also tried adding it in .jar along with class files but not luck. I tried to change the hdfs-default.xml with entry to local directory, still doesnt work. Please let me know how to make mapper read this file? Thank you,

• Best tools to create valid XML files from an Excel file

  I need to create a script that extracts some data from a complex Excel 2003 file (with multiple Sheets and different tables inside a single sheet) and produces different XML files that need to be validated against a given XSD file. My preferred language is Python; to create and validate XML files i would go with lxml. What do you suggest for parsing XSL files? Is xlrd the right tool to use for complex Excel files? Or do i need to convert all the sheets in CSV manually, and read files line by line, splitting and getting data? I accept C#, VB6 suggestions too.
