  • Should I move from Java programming to Delphi programming?

    over the years i have been employed in a permanent position with firms that did their development work in Windows SDK, VC++, and most recently Java; in my own eyes, I am language independent. Should I move from Java to Delphi (assuming pay-scale remains unchanged)? I'm concerned because, for the most part, the net presents a relatively bleak picture for this particular skill.

  • dynamically scan pictures in a folder and display using jquery slideshow

    guys, anyone know how to scan a folder using jquery or javascript code snippet, after that get a picture file name and embed in <li></li> or <div></div>, i've used php code to read through the folder and loop through the element to display the thumbnails and all, but it's not work well. I've try on galleria, gallerific, galleryView jquery slideshow plugin but those might not work well with php processing because of predefined configuration or something, can anyone tweak or hack these gallery to dynamically read an image from a folder?

  • Is it bad to use a model directly from a view in codeigniter?

    I know normally the data is passed thru to the view with the controller. however, currently in my view I load my model ($this-load-model('Db_model');) so i can use it in a loop to retrieve a users profile picture path from a array of IDs that is passed from controller. Will loading the db model in the view to accomplish this make my site more vulnerable or bad form? To me it seems to be outside of MVC concept but its working atm. thanks

We're looking for something that will allow us to programmatically get the data from the scanner (including the picture) and let us insert it into our application.     I'm using PHP to upload an image from a form to the server and want to rename the image lastname_firstname.[original extension]. I currently have: move_uploaded_file($_FILES["picture"]["tmp_name"], "peopleimages/" . "$_POST[lastname]" . '&#95;' . "$_POST[firstname]") which, of course, renames the file lastname_firstname without an extension. How do I rename the file but keep the extension? Thanks!

    I'm creating a view with images, videos, audio and documents (books) and I like to shown a picture of each of them in a carousel. Everything works nicely with images and videos as far as we added a image-thumbnail (image filefield) to their CCK but we like to show a default image for audio and documents without changing the original CCK. Is it possible with imagecache (may be with imagecache_custom_code or views_custom_php) or we need to look for a different approach? Thanks for your help, m.

    I need to add some code to the EndInit method of a PictureBox control but unfortunately its private and, from what I can gather, I can't shadow it and call base - at least not in VB.Net. What I can do is add a dummy property to my picture box class. The type of the dummy property is simply a class that just implements ISupportInitialize. However, that doesn't work, I need the dummy class to inherit from Control. Is that the minimum requirement?

We're not using a "label" or "picture box" do print the text to the screen. We are sizing the text on the fly, and allowing the user to scale the size of our application to their liking.
