  I've been using var.test and bartlett.test to check basic ANOVA assumptions, among others, homoscedascity (homogeniety, equality of variances). Procedure is quite simple for One-Way ANOVA: bartlett.test(x ~ g) # where x is numeric, and g is a factor var.test(x ~ g) But, for 2x2 tables, i.e. Two-Way ANOVA's, I want to do something like this: bartlett.test(x ~ c(g1, g2)) # or with list; see latter: var.test(x ~ list(g1, g2)) Of course, ANOVA assumptions can be checked with graphical procedures, but what about "an arithmetic option"? Is that manageable? How do you test homoscedascity in Two-Way ANOVA?

• Daily Backups for a single table in Microsoft SQL Server

  Hello, I have a table in a database that I would like to backup daily, and keep the backups of the last two weeks. It's important that only this single table will be backed up. I couldn't find a way of creating a maintenance plan or a job that will backup a single table, so I thought of creating a stored procedure job that will run the logic I mentioned above by copying rows from my table to a database on a different server, and deleting old rows from that destination database. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if that's even possible. Any ideas how can I accomplish what I'm trying to do would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  So I have a stored procedure called Spr_EventLogCreate defined in my database. I have created a function import in my data model called LogEvent with no return type, and I can see this function in the Model Browser tree at MyModel.edmx MyModel EntityContainer Function Imports LogEvent. I thought I should then be able to call the function in my code as follows: var context = new MyModelEntities(); context.LogEvent(...); But the LogEvent() method is not present. I must be being really stupid here, but how do I call my imported function? Using VS 2008 and EF 3.5.

  How do you prevent a new event handling to start when an event handling is already running? I press a button1 and event handler start e.g. slow printing job. There are several controls in form buttons, edits, combos and I want that a new event allowed only after running handler is finnished. I have used fRunning variable to lock handler in shared event handler. • Query only the first detail record for each master record

  If I have the following master-detail relationship: owner_tbl auto_tbl --------- -------- owner --- owner auto year And I have the following table data: owner_tbl auto_tbl --------- -------- john john, corvette, 1968 john, prius, 2008 james james, f-150, 2004 james, cadillac, 2002 james, accord, 2009 jeff jeff, tesla, 2010 jeff, hyundai, 1996 Now, I want to perform a query that returns the following result: john, corvette, 1968 jeff, hyundai, 1996 james, cadillac, 2002 The query should join the two tables, and sort all the records on the "year" field, but only return the first detail record for each master record. I know how to join the tables and sort on the "year" field, but it's not clear how (or if) I might be able to only retrieve the first joined record for each owner. Three related questions: Can I perform this kind of query using LINQ-to-SQL? Can I perform the query using T-SQL? Would it be best to just create a stored procedure for the query given its likely complexity?

  I'm trying export records from SQL Server 2008 to mdb file using OpenDataSource. It works when I log in using Windows authentication. But it fails when I use SQL Server authentication. This is the error i get OLE DB provider "Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0" for linked server "(null)" returned message "Could not delete from specified tables.". Msg 7320, Level 16, State 2, Procedure EXPORT_Employee, Line 110 Cannot execute the query "DELETE FROM employee_export " against OLE DB provider "Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0" for linked server "(null)". • About "If.." in Scheme (plt-scheme)

  I had a pretty simple requirement in my Scheme program to execute more than one statement, in the true condition of a 'if'. . So I write my code, something like this: (if (= 1 1) ((expression1) (expression2)) ; these 2 expressions are to be executed when the condition is true (expression3) ) Obviously, the above doesn't work, since I have unintentionally created a # procedure with # arguments. So, to get my work done, I simply put the above expressions in a new function and call it from there, in place of the expression1, expression2. It works. So, my point here is: is there any other conditional construct which may support my requirement here?

  I have a grid datawindow with a picture in it's background (with dimensions of an A4 page) and I would like to export both data and the picture as a (single page) PDF file. Currently,I know how to do a lazy implementation of the loading procedure of the nodes in a treeview control, and read the related questions in stackoverflow, but I'm also reading about IHierarchyData and IHierarchicalEnumerable interfaces in asp.net (I didn't know to code asp.net) that allow to bind a collection to a treeview in order to display the items automatically. It would like to know if I can do the same in winforms and C#. I think that the interfaces previous mentioned are not available in winforms. Thanks.

As 'ColumnName' statements, like so: SELECT SKU1, SUM(Case When Sku2=157 Then Quantity Else 0 End) As '157', SUM(Case When Sku2=158 Then Quantity Else 0 End) As '158', SUM(Case When Sku2=167 Then Quantity Else 0 End) As '167' FROM OrderDetailDeliveryReview Group By OrderShipToID, DeliveryDate, SKU1 The above query works great and gives me exactly what I need.   I'm wishing I could do something like the following in SQl Server 2005 (which I know isnt valid) for my where clause. Sometimes @teamID (passed into a stored procedure) will be the value of an existing teamID, otherwise it will always be zero and I want all rows from the Team table. I researched using Case and the operator needs to come before or after the entire statement which prevents me from having a different operator based on the value of @teamid.   Yes, I need to clean a table and I have EDM that comes with .net 3.5 sp1 (I haven't tried with EF4). I know that works: foreach(var item in ctx.Elements){ ctx.DeleteObject(item); } but it's not a point to get all data from the table and and deleting one by one. Ok, I know it's deleted when I run ctx.SaveChanges(); but DELETE FROM [Elements] looks better :) Tried stored procedure and function import, but VS designer for EDM just doesn't work. I also couldn't find any resources about defining it in .edmx manually.

• How to create a UDF that takes a query string and returns the query's resultset

  I want to create a stored procedure that takes a simple SELECT statement and return the resultset as a CSV string. So the basic idea is get the sql statement from user input, run it using EXEC(@stmt) and convert the resultset to text using cursors. However, as SQLServer doesn't allow: select * from storedprocedure(@sqlStmt) UDF with EXEC(@sqlStmt) so I tried Insert into #tempTable EXEC(@sqlStmt), but this doesn't work (error = "invalid object name #tempTable"). I'm stuck. Could you please shed some light on this matter? Many thanks EDIT: Actually the output (e.g CSV string) is not important. The problem is I don't know how to assign a cursor to the resultset returned by EXEC. SP and UDF do not work with Exec() while creating a temp table before inserting values is impossible without knowing the input statement. I thought of OPENQUERY but it does not accept variables as its parameters.
