• Upgrade PHP 5.1.6 to 5.2.x on Fedora 6 - Solutions?

  I have a CRM on an old Fedora server, running Apache 2.2.6, MySQL 5.0.27, and PHP 5.1.6. I see a couple of options to fix my problem, but I thought I would consult the pros on this one here at Server Fault to see if I'm missing anything. This is after spending a good while searching the net for solutions. Option 1 Upgrade Fedora, step-wise, to Fedora 7 and then to 8, and then the PHP packages I need would be available. I know this is hazardous, because of repository location, dependencies, etc. Option 2 Upgrade using this method. This may or may not work, and so would be considered a crap shoot. I consulted some IT people and they say the best best is to back up data and build a new server with updated hard and software. I happen to agree, but wanted to exhaust all my resources first.

• Windows 7 (64-bit) remove global hotkey created by unknown application

  As the titles says an unknown application that I've installed have registered a global hot-key for Alt+2 , or as this is a Finnish keyboard it's actually Alt Gr+2. As this is also the key combination for writing the @ symbol (I copy/pasted this one) you can imagine how frustrating it is. There doesn't seem to be a way to even list these global hot-keys in windows, let alone change them. Searching the net doesn't help much either, it just gives you a list of windows built-in hot-keys or references to AutoHotKey, which as far as I can tell can't solve this issue. I don't want to script/customize/modify anything, I just want to remove this global hot-key so I can start typing @ again.

• Nvidia driver on Windows 7 causing black screen

  I have just installed Windows 7 on a desktop machine and for the first time ever have had a really tough time doing so, its normally a nice smooth install. This time I found that the monitor would simply go black after completing the installation. I tried reinstalling about 3 times and this did not help. After much searching I discovered that it was the nvidia drivers that were playing up with win 7, so i booted into safe mode, disabled the device, then rebooted to complete the installation. Windows 7 now works fine as long as the nvidia 9600 gt video card is disabled. The moment I enable it, the system requires a reboot and the screen will go black before even getting to the log in screen. I have tried downloading the latest driver and installing it manually, I have also tried uninstalling the device and allowing windows 7 to install it itself. Nothing seems to work. any clues?

• Is it possible to open several web pages when browser is started?

  I am searching for browser option or plugin (it will be best if it is available in Web Kit browsers,Opera or Firefox - not IE) that allows me to open several web pages when it is initially started. For example, let's say that I have some file with settings in which I have pointed the following websites: Google + gmail StackOverflow.com SuperUser.com dba.stackexchange.com linkedin etc... and when I firstly started the Chrome browser, all this sites will be opened in new tabs and because the browser has saved my passwords I will be logged in. I will find this very helpful because: It will saves me time I will not miss anything when I turn off my computer (for example to forget to check my mail)

• How to un-partition a drive on windows 7

  I bought this laptop used from a friend. The laptop has 500gb of storage; however, the drive is partioned. The C: drive has an allocated space of 50gb whereas the partition has 396gb allocated to it. How do i either take some of the space from the partition and move it to the C: drive, or get rid of the partition? I've done some searching and people say I'm supposed to be able to use "Disc Management" to "delete volume," but when i right click on the partition the "delete volume" is not enabled. I get data sent to me and it looks like this: a 1 a --2 2 a-------3 3 b 1 b-- 2 2 b ------ 3 3 b------------ 4 4 and i need it to look like this: a 1 2 2 3 3 b 1 2 2 3 3 4 4 I have about 30 columns that needs to move to the top value in their group, then removing the duplicates. I have been searching forums for several days and trying bits and pieces of code. I am having such a tough time with VBA!!!!

So for instance when you type ,h1 it will change it to <h1></h1> with the cursor placed between the <. After some searching I have yet to find a resource/forum-thread/whatnot that discuss the uses of this marvelous program. • Visual indication of network activity

  is there a simple application which can sit on top of a fullscreen game to give me an indicator of when there is a lot of network activity? I can only seem to find system tray apps or programs which work outside of fullscreen games. Preferably something transparent so i can see through it. A little background info: I used to have my PC sitting sideways on my desk so I can see lights from the network card. The lights stopped working a while ago and all I need is a little blinking application to tell me when there is activity. I do not need a detailed graph or bandwidth usage, just activity notification. I've looked everywhere for something, maybe you guys are better at searching than me.

• Displaying X11 Apps on Windows 7

  I installed a product called xming, a light weight X11 server product on Windows 7 laptop. From remote RHEL system I redirected display to Win7 laptop then launched X11 GUI app. I was not able to launch X11 apps and have them appear on laptop display as intended. To fix it I added -ac to the properties of xming launch desktop icon. I been searching through Windows and xming docs but can't find explanation. My guess is it is like xhost + on unix that allows connections from anybody. Can anybody explain why this worked?

• Merged rows in column, bottom row fixed height

  I've been struggling some time now with a specific problem using Tables in MS Word (2010). I have a table with 2 rows and 2 columns and the last column, the rows are merged. Now it can happen that this last cell will expand, and I would like to have the last row in the first column to be of a fixed height and the first row has to expand. What happens now is that the last row expands and the first row has a "fixed" height. A picture of the behaviour at this moment: And this is how I would like it to behave: I have been looking through all properties and settings, but I don't seem to find any option. Neither can I found anything by searching online (probably not using the exact right keywords). Any help is appreciated.

• Remote Desktop Multi Monitor Connection

  This question may be a bit unusual but I think it's an interesting angle: Why does a remote desktop connection to my server with all four of my 30 inch (@2560x1600) monitors work, even though the server doesn't have a graphics card installed? I guess the graphics are perhaps not really rendered on the server? What exactly happens there so that this works? Searching for this I mostly found "how to enable multi monitor support" but not an answer to my question yet. Any links/documentation I can read to understand this better? (To get all four monitors working well on my local machine the one graphics card I had wasn't even enough, so I have two graphics cards on the local machine now) The operating systems are Windows 7 home premium and it's a Windows Server 2008 R2.

• MSSQL 2012 Error 26 and remote connection

  I'm trying to set up MSSQL 2012 for a school project and I need to be able to connect to it remotely as my teammates will also be working on it. I did a clean install of SQL Server 2012 Express. Knowing I can't connect remotely straight off, I tweaked the settings that needed tweaking according to the internet. What I did 1.Made sure remote connections were allowed 2.Enabled TCP/IP 3.Removed 0s from Dynamic ports and set 1433 in TCP Port 4.Enabled Named Pipes 5.Created Outbound and Inbound traffic rules in the firewall for TCP port 1433 and UDP port 1434 6.Port forwarded 1433 to my "server" and 1434 too 7.made sure I was pingable 8.SQL Server authentication is enabled 9.I have restarted my computer so that changes to the config are saved So whenever I try to connect using management studio on another computer than the server using myusername.dyndns.org\SQLEXPRESS I get error 26 I have been searching for different solutions for 3 hours with no luck.

• How to uninstall Yahoo toolbar for Firefox 15

  My kids downloaded something, which installed the Yahoo toolbar. I have tried every trick I can think of, and all I can do is get the bar to not show itself. There still is a Yahoo! menu, and I think it might be interfering with other web sites, but I'm not completely sure... Anyways, I want to get it off completely. What do I need to do? I have tried: Removing it from Add-ons (Didn't show up). Removing it via the bar itself (No pencil menu showing up) Removing via add/remove programs (Again, nothing showing up) Massive google searching (I can't seem to find anything) Any other ideas?   Searching for answers about the "Clear Text Credential Access Enabled" field, I found a question on an oracle forum that was my exactly what I was trying to find out. Thinking that my answer would soon be found, I happily click on the link only to find zero replies. All hope was lost. I am posting the question here, hoping that someone on this site will know the answer. Can somebody please explain the usage of "Clear Text Credential Access Enabled" checkbox under "-Security-Advanced tab for Weblogic 11g? What is the difference if we set or unset this flag? If I dont set this flag I get an exception like "Access to sensitive attribute in clear text is not allowed due to the setting of ClearTextCredentialAccessEnabled attribute in SecurityConfigurationMBean" when I try to set a value for the "Credential" field. But what should be the value for "Credential" field if I dont set the "Clear Text Credential Access Enabled"flag?

• Can I move files from a laptop hard drive with a corrupt sector to a USB hard drive?

  I have a hard drive that is on its way out and won't boot to Windows 7. The Windows partition takes up the whole disk. I thought I would try to recover some recent files that hadn't been backed up. Assuming the files are recoverable, how can I explore the drive that has the corrupt sector and transfer files to a USB hard drive? If it helps, the laptop is able to see the USB drive when choosing a boot order. Some searching lead me to WinPE 3.0, part of the Windows Automated Install Kit. Is that a method?

  Possible Duplicate: What's the meaning of '@' in a DNS zone file? I know that DNS records starting with * are called Wildcard records. What is the name for DNS record starting with @ (the at symbol). This is a record for the root domain (e.g. just example.com, not www.example.com) I want to find out more, but searching for "@ record dns" in Google doesn't return any useful results. What is the correct terminology for this type of record, and where might I find it described in more detail? RFC 1035 describes the use of @ in a DNS record, but doesn't go as far as giving it a name.

• How can I move the Windows 7 Preview Pane to the bottom?

  When searching for files in Windows Explorer, I like to use the Preview Pane to determine if it is the file I was looking for. But with the Preview Pane on the right hand side, either the preview is squished and unreadable or I need to make the Preview Pane wider which ends up hiding a lot of search information. Is there a way to move the Preview Pane to the bottom of the screen. I would rather see less lines in the preview and less files in the search results but be able to see (and read) all of what is being shown.

• Find an old static IP address on a mac backup?

  I have an old backup of a mac via time machine, and I was wondering if there is some sort of accessible file that would have the static IP of the old computer it was backed up from. If you are curious, I am in IT and it is a PITA to get a new static IP here. I am just trying to use the old one to save some hassle. I've tried searching through the system log with no success (but I might be doing it wrong- grep with a regexp for an IP). Thanks!

• Ubuntu 12.04 not showing video after upgrade from 11

  After upgrading to Ubuntu 12.04 VLC or any other media player that plays .mov, .mp4, .wmv etc. is playing with a blank screen but audio is fine. It was working on 11 before the upgrade. Any suggestions for a fix? Flash based video (e.g. youtube) works fine. After some searching I tried installing Ubuntu restricted extras - suspecting a codecs issue, but this has no effect. Any suggestions? Thanks.

  The question sounds easy but I could not find a solution using google search. Maybe you have an idea: I am searching for the Firefox setting to bookmark always to the toolbar. If I click CTRL+D the default "Folder" is "Bookmarks Menu". I'd like to have it always "Bookmarks Toolbar", without the need of changing it every time. • Debian - no sound output

  So I've been trying for the last few days to get sound output on my Linux desktop. The onboard audio is Intel HD Audio ICH9, but I couldn't get Alsa to even detect it, so I disabled it in BIOS and installed a PCI card - a Dynex DX-SC51. Searching around, I found that it needed the Alsa driver for ice1724, so I installed all the stuff for that. Now, the system detects my sound card, but I can't get any audio to play out of it. • installing php gd on ubuntu on a vps server

  I was working on localhost with resizing images and everything was great. Than I uploaded to my server and things got interesting. After searching around, looks like I have to enable php-gd on my server. I tried running the line sudo apt-get install php5-gd using putty, and it didn't work. Any ideas why? Also, after the install, I assume I will need to run the function sudo reboot right? clearly I'm not an expert in this area :p
