But when i try to run the code it is giving me "Lvalue Required" error. So what is the exact reason for occuring Lvalue required error because before this also i have come across situations where this error is there. Secondly why the arithmetic on the pointer is not legal here in this case?

• Ubuntu 13.04 ERROR: /etc/apt/sources.list not found

  So, I tried uninstalling the LAMP stack I had following the Ubuntu documentation for it. I also manually removed dbconfig-common. Now, I'm unable to run apt-get update. When I do, I get the error message: E: The method driver /usr/lib/apt/methods/htp could not be found. After some digging, I've discovered that I no longer even have an /etc/apt/sources.list file. Also, I've received an error, when trying to run: sudo tasksel install lamp-server That aptitude can not be found. Does anyone have an idea of what I can do? I'm not able to find any documentation online that works - all the documentation out there is dated and no longer (or will not) work with 13.04. I followed this link previously prior to posting my question and it did not work for me: How do I fix a "E: The method driver /usr/lib/apt/methods/http could not be found." error?

And there is a Xorg.0.log also & Xorg.0.log.old but it doesnt have any error in it. My system seems to work properly and it seems its not affected by this But how do I correct this message?   So I was installing 12.10 on my Asus g74sx laptop... Did everything the tutorial told me to do yet I keep getting an error saying that there was an error of input/output.. That I should check the hard drive and see if it needs replacement. I tried with 2 DVDs and did format twice my usb to fat 32 and mounted the image file for 12.10... No idea what is going on. Please help! Mmm I cannot add an image... I'll comment with the link to the error!

  I'm trying to install ubuntu on my hdd which doesnt contain any operatin system, mbr or grub. (it has 3 partitions, 1st includes my data on ntfs file system, second is linux swap now, and third ex4 filesystem) Of course i don't want to lose my data on ntfs partition. Anyway i installed ubuntu on ex4 filesystem, selected sda as device for bootloader (not sda1,2 or 2). But i got error Error:unknown filesystem Grub rescue I tried ls command. It gives (hd0) , (hd,msdos1), (hd0,msdos2) and (hd0,msdos3). then tried ls (hd0)/, ls (hd0,1)/, ls (hd0,msdos2)/, ls (hd0,msdos3)/ to find the linux filesystem to boot. But i was unsuccessful. it all gave me unknown filesystem error. Am i missing or something?

  I put the last Ubuntu iso on my USB stick using UNetBootin, after formatting it to fat32. I've already done that before with other operating systems and it worked. I can't actually boot Ubuntu from USB since I get a black screen with the error "Machine check error" on top the an automatic reboot happens. The error appears right after the boot, I can't see anything else before. I'm using my ASUS K53SV latop. Does anybody know how to solve this?

• error when installing rmagic gem on Ubuntu 12.04 for Ruby on Rails

  0 down vote favorite I am trying to get my Ruby on Rails application working and installing RMagic gem. But I get an error that says "Can't install RMagick 2.13.1. Can't find the ImageMagick library or one of the dependent libraries." Altough I have ImageMagick installed with its dependences. Terminal log : http://pastebin.com/vcgkbwZR I even tried to installed RMagic from Synaptic, but I get the same error when I run "bundle" command. Through my search, some people had problem with lib dependencies, but I believed I have them all installed. Another solution I found is this ( error installing RMagick from gem ) a little bit old and not sure if it is going to work for 12.04. BUT, I don't know where those configurations should go.

I have duly sent the reports hoping the system will have found the problem and sorted itself out. After the second error I am following the wizards (software...) advice and seeking help. In 12.04 I have install vmware 9.0 and in 12.10 when I open vmware workstation to start a virtual machine it error my monito going to black and I must logout and login angain. How to fix it?   Hello, I'm kind of new in web development with Java. I am developing a web service and I've chosen REST / Jersey for it. I want to init some stuff on startup of the service and to keep them all along the life of the service. First question : Is the constructor of the Jersey Servlet a good place to do that ? Basically, what I want to do is to load a config.ini file located in my WEB-INF directory. Following this help, I understand I need a ServletContext to load my file as a resource. However, it is not clear to me how to get this ServletContext in a Jersey Servlet, as it is not really an instance of a servlet, but rather a POJO with some annotations. I wanted to try this tip, but the attribute "context" is null in the constructor. I think that Jersey might populate it after the constructor. Right ? So how is the right way to do this ? • iPhone: Utility Application - Open Flipside on startup

  I have an application that I started with the Utility Application template. I'm using the Flipside for the Settings screen. I'm having the settings serialized to a file when the app is closed and deserialized when the app is opened. If there is no file to deserialize at startup, I want the flipside to be shown so the user can enter required information. This is what I have: - (void)viewDidLoad { flipController = [[FlipsideViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"FlipsideView" bundle:nil]; flipController.delegate = self; flipController.modalTransitionStyle = UIModalTransitionStyleFlipHorizontal; if(![self deserialize]) { [self showInfo]; } } - (IBAction)showInfo { [self presentModalViewController:flipController animated:YES]; } showInfo is the method that is called with the little 'i' button is pressed on the MainView. The button works, however my call in viewDidLoad doesn't. I have run through my code with the debugger. [self deserialize] is returning NO and [self showInfo] is being called, and I checked if flipController is nil in that context, and it's not. I've searched around and couldn't find anyone who's tried to do the same thing. I'm stumped to as why this isn't working. Anyone see what I'm doing wrong? Thanks

• Inserting default "admin" user into database during Rails App startup

  I'm building my first real rails application for a little in-house task. Most of the application tasks require authentication/authorization. The first time the app starts up (or starts with a wiped db), I'd like the process to be: User logs into the admin panel using "admin" & "admin" for authentication info. User navigates to admin credentials editing page and changes name and password to something safer so that "admin" & "admin" is no longer a valid login. To achieve this result, I'd like to stuff a default username & password combination into the database on if the application starts up and detects that there are no user credentials in the 'users' table. For example: if User.count == 0 User.create(:name => "admin", :password => "admin") end However, I'm unsure where to place that code. I tried adding an initializer script in the config/initializers, but the error I received appeared to indicate that the model classes weren't yet loaded into the application. So I'm curious to know at what point I can hook into the application startup cycle and insert data into the database through ActiveRecord before requests are dispatched.

The resulting entity is really small. Subsequent queries are fine. Its seems to be getting the first session started. Has anyone else seen something similar?

• How can i initialise a server on startup?

  Hey all, I need to make some connections on startup of a server. I'm using the wcf technology for this client-server application. The problem is that the constructor of the server isn't called at any time, so for the moment, i initialize the connections when the first client makes a connection. But this generates problems in a further part.
