• Move Joomla website to new folder

  I currently have a website. I have created a new folder on the website called V2. Under this folder I have installed Joomla and configured my new looking site. I now want to make V2 the default website. I could point the website to that V2 directory however I have other folders under the current root website that I need to keep. How can I transfer V2 to the root of my website? Is it just a case of copying all the files?

  I know that Ubuntu is immune to virus so there is no question of it getting infected while browsing the net.however i frequently transfer files from my pendrive (which i get from other virus infested computers) to my own laptop and save it on the data drive which is shared by both windows and ubuntu.i would like to know if there is a chance for windows viruses which might get saved and then infect it whenever i switch to windows later on.its ironic that i scan my pendrive using avast on windows and then save all my files to my hard drive to keep my laptop free from virus eventhough i have ubuntu.can anyone suggest an alternative.thanks in advance.

• What are the advantages and disadventages of git or bzr + rsync vs rdiff-backup?

  I used to use rsync to do backups, but then I switched to rdiff-backup to incremental backups. Recently, I discovered git and bzr while working on a coding project. So, I was thinking, I could have my backup disk be a repository in either git or bzr. Then I could rsync to the repository, and commit the changes. Would there be any performance concerns with this? Any other issues that I'm not thinking of? The benefit I see in using rsync is that you can restart an interrupted transfer, while rdiff-backup reverts to the last version, and then starts again. Any reason not to do it this way? Anything I'm not thinking of?

• My First robots.txt

  I'm creating my first robots.txt and wanted to get a second opinion on it. Basically I have a FTP setup on my board for some special users to transfer files between each other and I do NOT want that included in the search by the bots. I also want to point to my sitemap which gets auto generated by a PHP page. So here is what I have, what else should I include, and if I need to fix anything with it? Also, it's linking to xmlsitemap.php because that generates the sitemap when called. My goal is to allow any search bot crawl the forums to grab meta data. • Content Manager Assistant PSVita Linux Does NOT Recognize USB Port

  I have an external copy of Windows 7 alongside Quantal and I installed Content Manager Assistant on it. I was able to start the program successfully by finding the Executable file of the program in the program folder in Windows and run it in Wine, however Wine didn't recognize my PSVita that was connected through one of my USB ports. Is there any way to configure WINE to properly recognize the Vita? Content Manager Assistant is a Windows and Mac only program that allows you to transfer files between your PC and PSVita, kinda like iTunes for iPod.

• Automatically adding CD box art so that I can put it on my iPod.

  I know it's possible to automatically find CD covers for albums, because rhythmbox is doing it on the fly. (When I listen to stuff, it finds the CD cover online...) What I want is to get this information onto my ipod. As it stands pretty much all my songs have the default blank CD cover... I use gtkpod to transfer music to it. This needs to be an automatic process, because I have a large music library and I'm lazy and it's not exactly an important thing... I rip CDs I buy with the basic CD extractor, so all the files are in a Artist/Album/song.mp3 structure. (Yes I know, mp3 is evil, but iPod doesn't like .ogg so whatever)

• Ubuntu Server 12.04 Samba Server timeout

  I am a beginner with servers. I checked the error logs for Samba and it appears that Samba is timing out when I transfer large files. I can successfully add PDFs for instance to my file server. However, I tried to add a large 1.2Gb video file and it did not succeed. This is the error in the log: smbd/process.c:244(read_packet_remainder) read_fd_with_timeout failed for client 0.0.0.0 read error = NT_STATUS_CONNECT$ Is there a way I can stop it from timing out? Any pointers would be great! Thanks!

• Trying to Integrate Five9 and Apptivio [on hold]

  Five9 is a calling system application and Apptivio will be used to store client information for purchased products. Specifically what I need is an example code that will allow me to access Five9's CRM system using the access key and transfer a persons first and last name, for example, to Apptivio. The issue is I have never dealt with this type of system and I cannot find any information for it other than the Web2Campaign that was sent to me by Five9. Lets say this is the code from Five9 F9key=first_name&F9key=last_name&first_name=jon&last_name=smith Once this information is placed into Five9 I must update Apptivio with this information. I am lost as to how to send this information to Apptivio.

• Transferring local site to shared hosting

  I'm looking to setup a simple online text processing tool similar to the Clang demo. The processing program itself is a C++ program which I can modify to provide the desired output I need. Since I use Linux+Perl daily and have used Apache in the past, I'd like to get this working locally first. My two questions are: Is it possible to do this with only Apache and Perl? I've looked into frameworks for doing this and quickly ran into The Paradox Of Choice. Will I be able to easily transfer a working local site to a shared hosting service? I want to administer as little as possible. My understanding is since this needs to run a C++ program that CGI is a requirement and thus I need to administer the httpd server. Hopefully this doesn't mean a VPS. Thanks

  I have installed 12.04 on a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pro. Wifi card does not work. Have tried various threads but none have the same problem.   We're looking at moving our website from http://www.wikijob.co.uk to http://www.wikijob.com/uk as we spread our wings internationally. Our .co.uk website has a PR6 and received around 1/2 million visitors a month, 40% international. The wikijob.com domain, while registered for a while, has not been used nor promoted. I am concerned that moving domain could really haemorrhage our traffic and result in a loss of goodwill from Google, even if we use a 301, but equally, if we could transfer that pagerank to the .com domain, that would give us a massive head start around the world. Should we do it, or should we start over with .com and leave .co.uk as is?

• Moving Ubuntu to a new hdd

  I have a 300gb hdd which I am currently using on my older PC. Now I want to have a copy of those 300GB into a new 1TB hdd (installed in a new computer). My "problem" is that the 1TB hdd already has a 50GB partition with a Win XP (the rest of the space is not partitioned). The 300GB disk has a 240GB partition for Ubuntu, and the rest is a FAT partition which I don't care if it gets copied or not to the new disk. So how can I transfer the entire Ubuntu to the new hard disk and still being able to boot the XP? Is there a way or tool that can help me do over LAN? So I wont have to take out the hdd from the new pc and put it in the older to do the copy.

  I have this bash script; for (( i = 1 ; i <= 160 ; i++ )); do qsub myccomputations"${i}".pbs done Basically, I would prefer if there was a 1 second delay between each iteration. The reason is that at each iterations, it sends the program file mycomputation"${i}$.pbs to a core node for solving. Solving in this instance involves the use of pseudo random numbers. I suspect the RNG I use (R's) uses CPU time as seed because as things are now I get repeating pseudo random numbers (at the rate of approx 1 out of 100).   Back in March 2011 i started the following post: How to design a leaderboard? Now my quiz game have been out for approximately a year and sold pretty decently. I am working on to update the game design and is again looking into the leaderboard design to make it better as i am not happy with it. Currently i rate players on number of correct answers, which is not good as it does not consider things like number of games, difficulty levels etc. I also have "extended" stats behind the UITableView (Leaderboard). A player can play based on three levels of difficulty: hard, medium or easy Difficulty levels can be mixed between players in a game Each game can be one to six players, so there can be single games or duels Between 2 and 30 questions per game As i am considering integrating Game Center Leaderboard i need to design a better rating system so i would like to ask for some ideas how to do the rating based on the above. I am thinking about how much a point would be worth and what it includes.

• Problem with setting up a bootable USB on corrupted OSX

  I cant access the desktop because my harddrive is corrupted. Therefore I want to make a bootable USB stick so i can transfer all of my important files to my External HD. Problem is that Im stuck on Step 3 --- http://www.ubuntu.com/download/help/create-a-usb-stick-on-mac-osx . Im not sure of what i should change this to: hdiutil convert -format UDRW -o ~/path/to/target.img ~/path/to/ubuntu.iso It says convert failed - No such file or directory. Obviously the problem is that i dont know the path to the USB, maybe you know how to find out? Please help me. Thanks. ps. Ive downloaded the ubuntu desktop amd64+mac. pps. Unetbootin is a different alternative, but i dont know if it works?
