  Hi! I have an Apache 2.2 using mod_proxy_ajp as a reverse proxy for a Tomcat 6, running on RHEL5. On tomcat runs an application that does NTLM authentication. Using Firefox, everything works ok, but IE7 says "cannot display the web page". Without Apache, IE7 works fine. What is going on here? Unfortunately, I have very limited access rights and can't capture tcp traffic or anything like that. Thanks!

  I'm using mod_rewrite to send requests from the client to a backend server. I've seen in the rewrite log that Apache sets a sid (Session Identifier?) and rid (request identifier?) and shows them in the logs. Would it be possible to send the rid to the backend server as a http header? that way I can link a request in the apache with a request in the backend server. • can't delete some files or change their attributes on my FTP server

  I've installed a CMS on a shared host running Apache, now when I was deleting the root directory with FTP, some folders left with a "Permission denied" error and I can't change their attributes. the best explanation I've got is that the CMS installer has placed the files and has assigned its ownership to the Apache server instead of my user name. (i don't know it can be done) Ijust haven't use the uninstaller because I've lost my admin password - -" so how to delete those folders ?

  Hi, I am trying to find a way to monitor my apache server so I can see which domain is causing slow down on my server when they occur. I was hoping I would be able to do it with ApacheTop but I have to list our each log file separately as Plesk splits domains apache logs into individual files.   I have loadbalancer server and edges. I am trying to configure reverse proxy in order to hide the backend servers PL1,2,3. PL 1,2,3 are not located in same subnet. They are located in different locations. PL1 Lb1 -> PL2 PL3 I tried to configure Apache reverse proxy but it is not sending request to PL1,2,3. Reverse proxy worked only when I configured apache to send request to local server on other port. ProxyRequests Off <Proxy *> Order deny,allow Allow from all </Proxy> ProxyPass /PL1 http://PL1server.com/ ProxyPassReverse /PL1 http://PL1server.com/ The above configuration did not worked. Could you help me to solve the issue. Or is there other proxy types like Squid,Socks5 to solve this issue. Does the reverse proxy fails if we use IP address or domain URL in ProxyPass and ProxyPassReverse ?

  I've got a django 1.1 website I want to run in wsgi (as that seems to be the recommended deployment on apache). I want it to run as the www user (apache is running as www-data). I would ideally like this to work out of http://hostname/~www/ (~www/public_html) as well as http://virtualhostname/. I also want this to work for other users who may later use wsgi. Can I make this happen? I've been staring at docs trying to figure where to start, but I'm having trouble combining userdir and wsgi to let me run ~xxx/public_html/index.wsgi as user xxx, for every user xxx.

• Munin does not show Apache/mySQL stats in web view

  I'm facing a very strange Problem. I just set up Munin on a fresh Ubuntu slice with a common LAMP Stack. Everything works great, except that Munin does just not show the Apache/mySQL stats in the web view. Everything else in the web view works great, Apache works, mySQL works. I even tried calling the plugins via console: sudo munin-run apache_accesses And it works fine. AFAIK Munin log files are not telling me any problems.. My only hint: when I run munin-run without sudo it gives me a "Permission denied" - could this be the problem?

• Running PHP 5.2 FastCGI + Apache on CentOS 5 issue

  I am trying to setup 2 versions of PHP on Centos 5.9 using this tutorial: http://linuxplayer.org/2011/05/intall-multiple-version-of-php-on-one-server. I have followed I have installed default 5.4.19, and I was trying to setup another 5.2.17 PHP version to be run with Fast CGI and I followed the second part completely. However, when I try to run http://web2.example.com it returns 500 error message. In the apache log there are only 2 lines that repeat: [notice] mod_fcgid: call /var/www/web2/index.php with wrapper /usr/local/php52/bin/fcgiwrapper.sh and [notice] mod_fcgid: process /var/www/web2/index.php(25250) exit(server exited), terminated by calling exit(), return code: 255 Please note that I had to add .php at the and of the FCGIWrapper because apache would not start without it: FCGIWrapper /usr/local/php52/bin/fcgiwrapper.sh .php Also please note that http://web1.example.com with PHP 5.4.19 is working absolutely fine.   I'm having the following issue on a host using Apache 2.2.22 + PHP 5.4.0 I need to provide the file /home/server1/htdocs/admin/contents.php when a user makes the request: http://server1/admin/contents, but I obtain this message on the server error_log. • Varnish 503 Guru Mediation errors with pfsense and healthy apache

  We are running a pfsense firewall / load balancer with varnish as service, In front of Fedora linux webservers running apache. We are getting intermittent 503 guru mediation errors. We are a bit stuck scratching our heads because it is not easily repeatable. The timeouts are set to 30s (connect and first byte) but yet the 503 page will show instantly, not after 30s. Then if you refresh immediately it may very well work instantly and sometimes for a 100 refreshes. The load average on the web servers is < 1, the DB server is < 3 (all servers (web, db, pfsense/varnish) are physical rather than VM. I would have thought if the timeouts were being hit then the 503 page would only appear after 30s am I mistaken? Also when an error happens there does not appear to be any corresponding error in apache's log files. This seems to affect pages as well as images, so it is possible to have the page load fine, and for 9/10 images on the page to be fine but 1 not work An example of the varnish debug is below.   I have a apache server that sits in front of my glassfish server. mydomain.com goes directly to my static files on apache, than if you hit the subdomain forum.mydomain.com it goes to the glassfish webapp forum/ at 127.0.0.1:8080/forum/. This proxy seems to work it takes me to the web app but all of the images are missing! Here is how I go my virtual host setup. • Windows running service as "system" when log on as is "user"

  I have an apache service that is running as "SYSTEM", however the log on as settings are configured to run as my user account. The windows task manager claims that I am the user name associated with the service when it's running, however I had the apache service call a python script which indicates that the user is "SYSTEM. Any ideas on how to fix this? I've reinstalled 3 times and once with a newer version.

• Hanging page loads every n loads - SOLVED

  Hi Guys I recently moved my site to a new server (Apache 2, PHP5, MySQL5). The site is an Invision based forum. Every few posts / topics it just hangs. The data has been written because if you stop and reload, the post / thread is there. I thought it was a write issue initially, but nope. So, the data is written but the page load never completes. It doesn't leave the page where the data has been input. Whats the best way to trouble shoot this issue? The only thing I have done recently is reduce my MySQL timeouts, but I can't see that being an issue as the values are still big enough and there are no mentions of timeouts in the MySQL log. (For the record there is nothing in PHP's error log either) Thanks in advance! EDIT: I checked my server-status. It all looked ok, but I have a suspicion I was hitting my ServerLimit, so I doubled that. Also enabled my Keepalives. Will keep an eye on it. EDIT 2: Its now been a few days and this is still occuring. I have more info though; Apache is throwing seg faults, but enabling core dumps does not produce them. I have tried disabling the modules in apache but it just stops things from working. I fear it may actually be DNS related. If I watch Live Headers in Firefox, absolutely nothing happens during this 'hanging' period. After that, the responses come back fairly promptly. UPDATE (05/04): I built the latest versions of Apache and PHP from source, no luck. I then removed those and used the remi repo to update all my packages to the latest stable. Segfaults seem to have stopped, but the hanging is continuing. ini's are at; www.skylinesaustralia.com/php.ini www.skylinesaustralia.com/my.cnf www.skylinesaustralia.com/httpd.conf UPDATE - SOLVED! - The issue was having a gigantic query cache size in MySQL. Apache version: Apache/2.2.9 (Debian) The error message seems cryptic to me, I have AuthzLDAPAuthoritative on so where's the problem. EDIT: LDAP modules are loaded, the problem is not with them being missing. # ls /etc/apache2/mods-enabled/*ldap* /etc/apache2/mods-enabled/authnz_ldap.load /etc/apache2/mods-enabled/ldap.load EDIT2: Solved it by changing funky Require ldap-group cn=CHANGED, cn=CHANGED line with Require valid-user Since AuthzLDAPAuthoritative is on, no other auth methods will be used and valid-user requirement will auth via LDAP. (right? :/)

  I've been wrestling with this problem for few days now. Apache works fine. Then suddenly starts timing out. There is nothing in the error log. Few more things: - I've gone so far as to reinstall the box. - The codebase has not been touched in months. - I've done the speech test so I know it's not a bandwidth overload problem - Restart apache does not necessarily fix the issue, even temporarily (only thing that does is random attempts) If you can guide me to tools that can help me figure this out or if you know any specifics I should see, appreciate it.

  Hi all. I would like to set a special configuration in our apache web server. I would like to display sites to the users according their IP addresses. We plan to upgrade our web sites. During the upgrade we'll put a maintenance site: so all the users which will connect to our web sites will get this site. but in order to test the upgrade i need to set apache to let only my IP address to access to asked site. If my IP address is a.b.c.d and if i ask for test_dot_com i want to see it. but all other users, having a different IP address, should get the maintenane site even if they look for test_dot_com. • How do MaxSpareServers work in Apache?

  I've scoured the web but I can't find out what MaxSpareServers are in Apache MPM prefork.. The MaxSpareServers directive sets the desired maximum number of idle child server processes. An idle process is one which is not handling a request. If there are more than MaxSpareServers idle, then the parent process will kill off the excess processes. Great, but what causes a spareserver to be created? More importantly, when does a spare server go away? I understand that minspareservers are created gradually after the server is started.. How do maxspareservers relate to maxclients? Basically I'm at a bit of a loss on how best to configure Apache.. there's a lot of documentation out there but it isn't that clear. Thanks, John.

I dont want the request to be received by the tomcat server and process it. For performance based concerns i want this request to be handled at apache level. with all the research i was still unable to get this to run; RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{REQUEST_METHOD} OPTIONS RewriteRule .* - [R=200m] can somebody assist me with what rewrite rule should be there? or is there an alternative to RewriteEngine?
