  • N Tiers with SubSonic 3, Dirty Columns collection is alwayes empty on update

    Hello guys here is what i am doing, and not working for me. I have a DAL generated with SubSonic 3 ActiveRecord template, i have a service layer (business layer if you well) that have mixture of facade and some validation. say i have a method on the Service layer like public void UpdateClient(Client client); in my GUI i create a Client object fill it with some data with ID and pass it to the service method and this never worked, the dirty columns collection (that track which columns are altered in order to use more efficant update statment) is alwayes empty. if i tried to get the object from database inside my GUI then pass it to the service method it's not working either. the only scenario i find working is if i query the object from the database and call Update() on the same context all inside my GUI and this defeats the whole service layer i've created. however for insert and delete everything working fine, i wonder if this have to do something with object tracking but what i know is SubSonic don't do that. please advice. thanks.   • iOS UIImageView dataWithContentsOfURL returning empty

    I'm trying to display an image from a URL in a UIImageView and I'm seeing some very peculiar results. The bit of code that I'm testing with is below imageURL = @"http://images.shopow.co.uk/image/user_dyn/1073/32/32"; imageURL = @"http://images.shopow.co.uk/assets/profile_images/default/32_32/avatar-male-01.jpg"; NSURL *imageURLRes = [NSURL URLWithString:imageURL]; NSData *imageData = [NSData dataWithContentsOfURL:imageURLRes]; UIImage *image = [UIImage imageWithData:imageData]; NSLog(@"Image Data: %@", imageData); In it's current form I can see data in the output window which is what I'd expect. However if comment out the second imageURL so I'm referencing the first I'm getting empty data and therefore nil is being returned by imageWithData. What is possibly more confusing is that the first image is basically the same as the second but it's been through a PHP processing script. I'm nearly certain that it isn't the script that's causing the issue because if I use this instead imageURL = @"http://images.shopow.co.uk/image/product_dynimg/389620/32/32" the image is displayed and this uses the same image processing script. I'm struggling to find any difference in the images that would cause this to occur. Any help would be appreciated.

  • hibernate empty collection in component

    I have a component mapped using Hibernate. If all fields in the component in the database are null, the component itself is set to null by hibernate. This is the expected behavior and also what I need. The problem I have, is that when I add a bag to that component, the bag is initialized to an empty list. This means the component has a non null value... resulting in the component being created.   • One-to-many Associations Empty Columns Issue (Ext on Rails)

    I'm playing with rewriting part of a web application in Rails + Ext. However, I'm having trouble getting an associated models' name to display in the grid view. I've been able to successfully convert several models and arrange the views nicely using tabs and Ext's layout helpers. However, I'm in the middle of setting up an association -- I've followed along with Jon Barket's tutorial on how to do this using Ext -- and I've made all the Rails and JS changes suggested (with appropriate name changes for my models,) the result being that the combo box is now being correctly populated with the names of the associated models, and changes are actually written correctly to database, BUT the data doesn't show up in the column, it's just empty. However, the correct data is there in the 'detail' view. Really just wondering if anyone else ran into this, or had any thoughts on what could be happening. Definitely willing to post code if requested; just note that (AFAIK) my changes follow the tutorial pretty closely. Thanks in advance! UPDATE: Alright, slight progress - kind of. I can get the associated model id # displaying properly -- just by modifying the column model slightly. But I can't get the virtual attribute displayed in the main table (in Jon's example it's country_name.) It still goes blank when I change the data source for that column from dataIndex: 'model[associated_model_id]' to dataIndex: 'virtual_attributes[associated_model_name]' ANOTHER UPDATE: Bump. Has NOBODY here tried integrating Ext with Rails?

    I am using SQLexpress and VS2008. I have a DB with a table named "A", which has an IdentitySpecification column named ID. The ID is auto-incremented. Even if the row is deleted, the ID still increases. After several data manipulation, the current ID has reached 15, for example. When I run the application if there's at least 1 row: if I add a new row, the new ID is 16. Everything is fine. If the table is empty (no row): if I add a new row, the new ID is 0, which is an error (I think). And further data manipulation (eg. delete or update) will result in an unhandled exception. Has anyone encountered this? PS. In my table definition, the ID has been selected as follow: Identity Increment = 1; Identity Seed =1; The DB load code is: dataSet = gcnew DataSet(); dataAdapter->Fill(dataSet,"A"); dataTable=dataSet->Tables["A"]; dbConnection->Open(); The Update button method dataAdapter->Update(dataSet,"tblInFlow"); dataSet->AcceptChanges(); dataTable=dataSet->Tables["tblInFlow"]; dataGrid->DataSource=dataTable; If I press Update: if there's at least a row: the datagrid view updates and shows the table correctly. if there's nothing in the table (no data row), the Add method will add a new row, but from ID 0. If I close the program and restart it again: the ID would be 16, which is correct.     I have a Class Library, which inside just has a DataSet (MySQL connector) and a Connector class. I use this class in multiple projects to connect to the database, and I always had the password embedded in the connection string but now I need to be able to modify this string(for security purposes) so I can have the user connect using their own account. How can I modify this connection string. I have tried the following Properties.Settings.Default.DataBaseConnectionString = "String"; But it seems that the connection string is readonly becase it doesn't appear to have a setter value.     I'm parsing my nginx logs, and I want to discover some details from the HTTP_REFERER string, for example, the query string used to find the web site. One user typed in "México" which gets encoded in the log as "query=M%E9xico". Passing this through Rack::Utils.parse_query('query=M%E9xico') you get a hash, {"query" = "M?xico"} When you to stuff "M?exico" into Postgres (but not the more forgiving SQLite), it pukes because the string isn't proper UTF-8. Looking at http://rack.rubyforge.org/doc/Rack/Utils.html#M000324, unescape is packing a hex string. How can I convert the string back to UTF-8, or can I get parse_query to return UTF-8 in the first place.

    Redis keys are binary safe. I'd like to mess around and put binary into redis using C#. My client of choice doesn't support writing binary keys it uses keys and it make sense. However i am just fooling around so tell me how i can do this. How do i convert a raw byte[] into a string? At first i was thinking about converting a byte[] to a utf8 string however unicode has some checks to see if its valid or not. So raw binary should fail. Actually i tried it out. Instead of failing i got a strange result. My main question is how do i convert a raw byte[] to the equivalent string?     I have 4 string variables name, quest, favorite_color, speed that might be empty. I want to concatenate them all together, putting spaces between those that aren't empty. So: name = 'Tim' quest = 'destroy' favorite_color = 'red' speed = 'fast' becomes 'Tim destroy red fast' and name = 'Steve' quest = '' favorite_color = '' speed = 'slow' becomes: 'Steve slow' (Notice: there is only 1 space between 'Steve' and 'slow') How do I do that (preferably in 1 line).

These "words" can be pretty much any character e.g. "Bart Simpson, Ex-girlfriend, dude, radical" I'm trying to use javascript, jQuery, whatever i can to replace a word based on a search string with nothing (in essence, removing the word from the list). For example, the function is defined as such: function removeWord(myString, wordToReplace) {...}; So, passing the string listed above as myString and passing "dude" as wordToReplace would return the string "Bart Simpson, Ex-girlfriend, radical" Here's the line of code I was tinkering around with...please help me figure out what's wrong with it or some alternative (better) solution:$myString.val($myString.val().replace(/wordToReplace\, /, ""));

  • XSLT Document function returns empty result on Maven POM

    Greetings! I want to extract some properties from different Maven POMs in a XSLT via the document function. The script itself works fine but the document function returns an empty result for the POM as long as I have the xmlns="http://maven.apache.org/POM/4.0.0" in the project tag. If I remove it, everything works fine. Any idea how the make this work while leaving the xmlns attribute where it belongs or why this doesn't work with the attribute in place?     Hi, I read about Big-O Notation from here and had few questions on calculating the complexity.So for the below code i have calculated the complexity. need your inputs for the same. private void reverse(String strToRevers) { if(strToRevers.length() == 0) { return ; } else { reverse(strToRevers.substring(1)); System.out.print(strToRevers.charAt(0)); } } If the memory factor is considered then the complexity of above code for a string of n characters is O(n^2). The explanation is for a string that consists of n characters, the below function would be called recursively n-1 times and each function call creates a string of single character(stringToReverse.charAT(0)). Hence it is n*(n-1)*2 which translates to o(n^2). Let me know if this is right ?
