  • 25 Favorite JCP Award Memories

    - by heathervc
As we celebrated the 10th Annual JCP Awards and Party at JavaOne last week, we asked attendees to share their favorite memories.  Add yours to the retrospective list below... The 10th Award party will be the best :-) I won a DSLR camera at the 2011 JCP party and have taken many awesome photos of my family with it ever since!  Thanks JCP! Remembering the password to get in! It was very fascinating talking to all those JUG Members of last years' (2011) party and hearing about their hopes & expectations.  Especially from members of SouJava and LJC. Hanging out with my friends Best food and one of my colleagues won the raffle prize. My friend Brian won a jacket 3 years ago and my friend Craig won a camera last year. 2010 when I took home 2 awards on behalf of JSRs I'm on. When Patrick & Scott sang 'Light My Fire'! Catch up with friends! Being able to attend my first JCP party and and joining JCP community. Of course it's when some people won the award (SouJava and LJC)!   Meeting Crazy Bob! This is my first. Mike  to be JCP Member of the Year in 2011. When SouJava and London Java Community won Member of the Year award! JBoss making CDI Everything! When SouJava won the JCP Member of the Year award. I love feeling like it is the Oscars! First Party! Winning JCP Member of the Year last year. The year I was running for it (JCP Award). 2009 music and hostess. Obscured on legal advice.

  • graph performance monitor windows and linux

    - by Patrik
We are using Munin to get graphs of our servers. (such as CPU load, I/O, available disk space, etc. ) Munin gives us last 24h, last 7 days, last month and last year. The good thing with Munin is that it supports all kinds of clients, such as Windows, Linux and switches because it can monitor over SNMP. However, we have a problem with the Munin client for Windows. Since we upgraded to Windows Server 2008 R2 it won't show graphs for some performance counters. What options are there out there? Both free and commercial.

  • Switching to some emacs shell buffers moves the cursor to the beginning of the buffer

    - by yuvilio
I run Emacs 24 with prelude and a few shells that i invoke at the start ( e.g.: (shell "*shell*_spare") ). When i switch to some of them (C-x b), my cursor lands at the beginning of the buffer, rather than when it last left off (typically the end of the buffer after the last command I ran). The strange thing is that this does not happen for all the shell buffers that I set up in the same way but with different names. When I switch to them, the cursor is where it last left off. Any ideas how I can make the cursor always be where it last was or at the bottom?

  • BizTalk 2009 - How do I do t"HAT"?

    - by StuartBrierley
In my previous life working with BizTalk Server 2004, I came to view HAT (the Health and Activity Tracking tool) as one of my first ports of call in the case of problems with any of our BizTalk solutions.  When you move to BizTalk Server 2009 it is quickly apparent that HAT is no longer with us. HAT was useful in BizTalk 2004 mainly as it provided developers and administrators with a number of useful queries and views of what was going on inside BizTalk at runtime; when and what type of messages were received and sent, what messages had been suspended, what orchestration were running or suspended, you could even follow the process flow of a message or orchestration to see what was going on. With BizTalk Server 2009 much of the functionality of HAT can now be found in the BizTalk Administration console.  Select a BizTalk Group and you will be shown the Group Hub Overview page.  This provides a number of default queries that replicate some of those found in the old HAT. You can also use the Group Hub page to create new queries.  These can then be saved and loaded in other Group Hub instances - useful for creating queries in development for later use in Test, Psuedo-Live and Live environments. In the next few posts I am going to look at some of the common queries that we might miss from HAT and recreate them (or something close) using the new query option. Messages - last 100 received Messages - last 100 sent Messages - last 50 suspended Service instances - last 100 I have yet to try the updated Admin-HAT-Console in anger, and after using old-HAT for so long it may take some getting uesd to, but so far I would say that moving the HAT functionality into the BizTalk Administration console was probably the correct way to go.  Having one tool as the place to look for the combined functionality on offer certainly seems to be the sensible option.

  • Does 64bit Windows 8 have the same 75% memory-usage limitation for applications as Windows 7?

    - by Barleyman
64bit Windows 7 (and Windows Vista) have a built-in limit of not being able to use the last 25% of RAM. You will get a low memory warning when you get close to the limit. Even if you disable that warning, applications will run out of memory and crash since the OS will refuse to allocate memory from that last 25%. That was fine when Vista was designed, when machines had 1 GB of total memory, but is pretty daft for today's 8 GB machines. Yes, the system will run cache, etc. on that extra 2 GB, but running out of memory when you have "merely" 2 GB left.... NB: this has nothing to do with the page file. If you limit the page file to a sensible size like 2 GB, you will still see this behavior. The system will cram the page file to the last byte while refusing to touch that 1/4th of the RAM. Does Windows 8 change this behavior? Is there now some fixed minimum free RAM requirement, like 512 MB, or is it still 25%? Can you actually adjust the low memory limit? EDIT: Here is another older post here which discusses this same behavior on Windows 7. There is fixed 25% limit in Windows 7 and I'd like to know if it's still in Windows 8. Windows 7 / Page File Disabled / 12 GB RAM / 2+ GB RAM free and "your computer is running low on memory" Edit2: Here is another link discussing the low memory warning and how to disable it. Note he claims the limit for RAM usage is 80%, not 75%. It would seem to be correct as you can in fact allocate 6.4GB of RAM with 8GB machine. Anything above and beyond that goes to the pagefile, though. http://halflight.com.au/2011/04/06/how-to-disable-low-memory-warnings-and-the-advantages-of-removing-the-page-file/ Edit3: a Here's couple of process explorer screenshots that demonstrate how it goes down. Exhibit1: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/42068601/sysinfo.jpg Exhibit2: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/42068601/sysint2.jpg You can see that Windows 7 will use the memory 6.4GB as the very last resort. I have low memory warning switched off here so programs crashed at the last screenshot allocation. With low memory warning turned on, it starts nagging before you can push OS to use that remaining 1.6GB. The question is not "Is it OK windows does not want to allocate last 20% of RAM because X", it's "Does Windows 8 still behave this way". With 16GB this really becomes dumb.

  • DPM - Monitoring is green, Protection has error and Latest rec point is old. How do I interpret that?

    - by LosManos
How do I read the DPM info in this case? Monitoring says Failed but Protection shows Ok while having a Latest recovery point from last year. Under Monitoring tab I have Failed for Source | Computer | Protection group | Start time Computer\System Protection | MyServerName | Recovery point | 2014-06-09 19:00:00 which shows me that something happened last night. But under Protection tab everything is green. Here I have Protection group member | | Protection status Protection group ..name.. Computer: MyServerName Computer\System protection Bare metal recovery OK ... Latest recovery point: 2013-12-12 06:32:54 My guess is that backup failed last night once, but succeeded later. It then found out that there hasn't been any change since sometime last year and leave it be and flags Ok.

  • Have you Been Missing the 'About This Record' Functionality on the Customer Form...?

    - by MargaretW
Do you have fond memories of the 'Help -> About This Record'  functionality that used to be available in the old Customer form - when it was a form, and not a java html screen?  Back in Release 11i, we had the ability to identify when the customer record had last been updated and by whom.  When some forms were replaced by Java HTML screens, you could identify some of this information via the 'About this Page' hyperlink at the bottom left hand corner of the HTML page.  You could enable this by enabling the FND: Diagnostics profile option, but many customers found this had an adverse effect on performance and additionally was not user-friendly.   Our customers tell us that this feature was widely used to identify owner/update information in many business processes, including auditing, customer entry/update, research and testing.  There have been various efforts to revert this feature by customising java pages, but this was not fully successful in some cases.  Oracle Support is happy to announce that this functionality has now been included in the Customer screens in Release 12.2 onwards.   You will be able to query the record history at customer level, at site level, at site address levels and for all tabs relating to the customer. Simply click on the 'Record History' icon, available in the Record History column on a summary screen, or via the same icon on the individual detail screen to display the following information: Last Updated Date: Last Updated By Creation Date Created By Last Update Login

  • converting apache rewrite rules to nginx for xenforo

    - by nick
Hi all, I am migrating some forums from vbulletin 3.8.x to xenforo, and trying to keep my old link structure alive. Basically, XF provides some php files that I can redirect the old url style to and it handles the proper 301 redirection. Regardless of that end, I am having difficulty rewriting the rules which I can only find defined in apache's rewrite style: RewriteRule [\d]+-[^/]+/.+-([\d]+)/([\d]+)/ showthread.php?t=$1&page=$2 [NC,L] RewriteRule [\d]+-[^/]+/.+-([\d]+)/ showthread.php?t=$1 [NC,L] RewriteRule ([\d]+)-[^/]+/([\d]+)/ forumdisplay.php?f=$1&page=$2 [NC,L] RewriteRule ([\d]+)-[^/]+/ forumdisplay.php?f=$1 [NC,L] I have been experimenting and thought this should work, but obviously not: if (!-e $request_filename) { rewrite [0-9a-zA-Z\-]/[0-9a-zA-Z\-]-([0-9])/([0-9])/ /showthread.php?t=$1&page=$2 last; rewrite [0-9a-zA-Z\-]/[0-9a-zA-Z\-]-([0-9])/ /showthread.php?t=$1 last; rewrite ([0-9])-[0-9a-zA-Z\-]/([0-9])/ /forumdisplay.php?f=$1&page=$2 last; rewrite ([0-9])-[0-9a-zA-Z\-]/ /forumdisplay.php?f=$1 last; rewrite ^(.*)$ /index.php last; } old vB showthread format: website.tld/233-website-issues-requests/wiki-down-73789/ new XF showthread format: website.tld/threads/the-wiki-is-down.65509/ old vB forumdisplay format: website.tld/233-website-issues-requests/ new XF forumdisplay format: website.tld/forums/website-issues-and-requests.253/

  • Merged rows in column, bottom row fixed height

    - by Styxxy
I've been struggling some time now with a specific problem using Tables in MS Word (2010). I have a table with 2 rows and 2 columns and the last column, the rows are merged. Now it can happen that this last cell will expand, and I would like to have the last row in the first column to be of a fixed height and the first row has to expand. What happens now is that the last row expands and the first row has a "fixed" height. A picture of the behaviour at this moment: And this is how I would like it to behave: I have been looking through all properties and settings, but I don't seem to find any option. Neither can I found anything by searching online (probably not using the exact right keywords). Any help is appreciated.

  • How can I make this script output each categories item per category [closed]

    - by Duice352
Ok so here is the deal currently this script outputs all the products in a parent category as well as the products in the child categories. What i would like to do is seperate the output based on child categories. All the child categories are in the array $children and the string $childs. The parent category is the first array element of $children with the following ones being the actual children. The category names are stored in the database $result as " $cat_name ". I want to first Display the cat_name then the products that fall in that category and then display the next child cat_name and items, ect. Any suggestions of how to manipulate the while loop that cylcles through the rows? <?php $productsPerRow = 3; $productsPerPage = 15; //$productList = getProductList($catId); $children = array_merge(array($catId), getChildCategories(NULL, $catId)); $childs = ' (' . implode(', ', $children) . ')'; $sql = "SELECT pd_id, pd_name, pd_price, pd_thumbnail, pd_qty, c.cat_id, c.cat_name FROM tbl_product pd, tbl_category c WHERE pd.cat_id = c.cat_id AND pd.cat_id IN $childs ORDER BY pd_name"; $result = dbQuery(getPagingQuery($sql, $productsPerPage)); $pagingLink = getPagingLink($sql, $productsPerPage, "c=$catId"); $numProduct = dbNumRows($result); // the product images are arranged in a table. to make sure // each image gets equal space set the cell width here $columnWidth = (int)(100 / $productsPerRow); ?> <p><?php if(isset($_GET['m'])){echo "You must select a model first! • Binary Search Tree Implementation

I've searched the forum, and tried to implement the code in the threads I found. But I've been working on this real simple program since about 10am, and can't solve the seg. faults for the life of me. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong would be greatly appreciated. • How to avoid visual artifacts when hosting WPF user controls within a WinForms MDI app?

    - by jpierson
When hosting WPF user controls within a WinForms MDI app there is a drawing issue when you have multiple forms that overlap each other that causes very distinct visual artifacts. These artifacts are mostly visible after dragging one child form over another one that also hosts WPF content or by allowing the edges of the child form to be clipped by the main MDI parent when dragging it around. After the drag and drop of the child form is completed the artifacts stay around gernally but I've found that setting focus to a different application's window and then refocusing back on to my application window that it is redrawn and all is good again until the child forms are moved once again. Please see the image below which demonstrates the problem. Since many at Microsoft insist that the WinForms MDI is already a complete solution for MDI even when dealing with WPF I find it hard to believe any of them have ever actually tried creating a mostly WPF app that utilizes WinForms MDI otherwise it would be hard to recommend while keeping a straignt face. I'm hoping to either come up with proof that this solution truly is not acceptable or possibly find a way to overcome this and a few other specific issues.

  • UITableViewController not redrawing new cell text label after popViewControllerAnimated

    - by crunchyt
I have a problemetic UITableViewController fails to redraw an updated cell after a child view is removed. Here's what's happening. After changing data in a child view, the parent view controller reloads the source data array and runs [tableView reloadData] via a PostNotification. After this triggers, I use popViewControllerAnimated to return to the parent UITableViewController (this pops the child view off the stack, and reveals the controller one level up). However, my updated data does not appear in the parent view controller! According to the debugger, the cell's label has been updated, but the visible label does not change. However, if I scroll-flick the table, momentarily moving the updated cell out of view, when it reappears the label is updated! I also try calling [tableView reloadData] via viewWillAppear but the issue still persists. Here is some additional info that may be helpful. I have a 3 views structured like this: 1/ SettingsViewController : UITableViewController 2/ -- UserView : UITableViewController 3/ ---- UserDetailsView : UIViewController <UIActionSheetDelegate> I am calling UserDetailsView from inside UserView as follows: UserDetailsView *userDetailsView = [[UserDetailsView alloc] init]; [self.navigationController pushViewController:userDetailsView animated:YES]; If I return to the top-most controller (SettingsViewController) and then load the problematic controller (UserView), everything is drawn correctly. It is only when returning from a child view that this issue occurs. Thank you in advance for your suggestions.

  • PHP forking and mysql database connection problem

    I am now trying to do forking in php. I would like to do some query and update in child process.. the problem is that whenever a child process finish, it close the connection which makes the other queries fail. The following is my sample code!! #!/usr/local/bin/php <?php set_time_limit(0); # forever program! $db = mysql_connect("server","user","pwd"); mysql_select_db("schema",$db); $sql = "query"; $res = mysql_query($sql,$db); while($rows = mysql_fetch_array($res)) { $rv = pcntl_fork(); if($rv == -1){ echo "forking failed"; }elseif($rv){ echo "parent process $rv\n"; $db = mysql_connect("192.168.8.112","zwmuser","zwmuser",true); mysql_select_db("schema",$db); }else{ echo "child process $rv\n"; $sql1 = "another query"; $res1 = mysql_query($sql1,$db); while($messages = mysql_fetch_array($res1)) { $sql2 = "update query"; mysql_query($sql2,$db); } exit(0); //it terminates both child process and mysql connection! } } ?>

  • JAXB: How to avoid repeated namespace definition for xmlns:xsi

    - by sfussenegger
I have a JAXB setup where I use a @XmlJavaTypeAdapter to replace objects of type Person with objects of type PersonRef that only contains the person's UUID. This works perfectly fine. However, the generated XML redeclares the same namespace (xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance") every time it's used. While this is generally okay, it just doesn't feel right. How can I configure JAXB to declare xmlns:xsi at the very beginning of the document? Can I manually add namespace declarations to the root element? Here's an example of what I want to achive: Current: <person uuid="6ec0cf24-e880-431b-ada0-a5835e2a565a"> <relation type="CHILD"> <to xsi:type="personRef" uuid="56a930c0-5499-467f-8263-c2a9f9ecc5a0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"/> </relation> <relation type="CHILD"> <to xsi:type="personRef" uuid="6ec0cf24-e880-431b-ada0-a5835e2a565a" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"/> </relation> <!-- SNIP: some more relations --> </person> Wanted: <person uuid="6ec0cf24-e880-431b-ada0-a5835e2a565a" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"> <relation type="CHILD"> <to xsi:type="personRef" uuid="56a930c0-5499-467f-8263-c2a9f9ecc5a0"/> </relation> <relation type="CHILD"> <to xsi:type="personRef" uuid="6ec0cf24-e880-431b-ada0-a5835e2a565a"/> </relation> <!-- SNIP: some more relations --> </person>

  • rails search nested set (categories and sub categories)

    - by bob
Hello, I am using the http://github.com/collectiveidea/awesome_nested_set awesome nested set plugin and currently, if I choose a sub category as my category_id for an item, I can not search by its parent. Category.parent Category.Child I choose Category.child as the category that my item is in. So now my item has category_id of 4 stored in it. If I go to a page in my rails application, lets say teh Category page and I am on the Category.parent's page, I want to show products that have category_id's of all the descendants as well. So ideally i want to have a find method that can take into account the descendants. You can get the descendants of a root by calling root.descendants (a built in plugin method). How would I go about making it so I can query a find that gets the descendants of a root instead of what its doing now which is binging up nothing unless the product had a specific category_id of the Category.parent. I hope I am being clear here. I either need to figure out a way to create a find method or named_scope that can query and return an array of objects that have id's corresponding tot he descendants of a root OR if I have any other options, what are they? I thought about creating a field in my products table like parent_id which can keep track of the parent so i can then create two named scopes one finding the parent stuff and one finding the child stuff and chaining them. I know I can create a named scope for each child and chain them together for multiple children but this seems a very tedious process and also, if you add more children, you would need to specify more named scopes.

  • how to programmatically create menu items while creating nodes?

    - by sprugman
    I'm creating some nodes programmatically, thus: foreach ($titles as $t) { $n = new stdClass(); $n->type = 'myType'; $n->uid = 1; $n->title = $t; $menu = array(); $menu['link_title'] = $t; $menu['menu_name'] = 'primary-links'; // this attempt at placing the menu item in a particular place in the // menu hierarchy didn't work: $menu['parent'] = 'primary-links:867'; $menu['depth'] = 3; $menu['p1'] = '580'; $menu['p2'] = '867'; $n->menu = $menu; node_save($n); } I've got a menu structure like this: primary-links Parent 1 Child 1 Child 2 Parent 2 Child 3 I want the new menu items to appear as children of Child 3. I was able to create menu items at the same time as the nodes, and they appeared in the correct menu, but not in the correct place in the hierarchy. What am I missing?

  • recursive delete trigger and ON DELETE CASCADE contraints are not deleting everything

    - by bitbonk
I have a very simple datamodel that represents a tree structure: The RootEntity is the root of such a tree, it can contain children of type ContainerEntity and of type AtomEntity. The type ContainerEntity again can contain children of type ContainerEntity and of type AtomEntity but can not contain children of type RootEntity. Children are referenced in a well known order. The DB model for this is below. My problem now is that when I delete a RootEntity I want all children to be deleted recursively. I have create foreign key with CASCADE DELETE and two delete triggers for this. But it is not deleting everything, it always leaves some items in the ContainerEntity, AtomEntity, ContainerEntity_Children and AtomEntity_Children tables. Seemling beginning with the recursionlevel of 3. CREATE TABLE RootEntity ( Id UNIQUEIDENTIFIER NOT NULL, Name VARCHAR(500) NOT NULL, CONSTRAINT PK_RootEntity PRIMARY KEY NONCLUSTERED (Id), ); CREATE TABLE ContainerEntity ( Id UNIQUEIDENTIFIER NOT NULL, Name VARCHAR(500) NOT NULL, CONSTRAINT PK_ContainerEntity PRIMARY KEY NONCLUSTERED (Id), ); CREATE TABLE AtomEntity ( Id UNIQUEIDENTIFIER NOT NULL, Name VARCHAR(500) NOT NULL, CONSTRAINT PK_AtomEntity PRIMARY KEY NONCLUSTERED (Id), ); CREATE TABLE RootEntity_Children ( ParentId UNIQUEIDENTIFIER NOT NULL, OrderIndex INT NOT NULL, ChildContainerEntityId UNIQUEIDENTIFIER NULL, ChildAtomEntityId UNIQUEIDENTIFIER NULL, ChildIsContainerEntity BIT NOT NULL, CONSTRAINT PK_RootEntity_Children PRIMARY KEY NONCLUSTERED (ParentId, OrderIndex), -- foreign key to parent RootEntity CONSTRAINT FK_RootEntiry_Children__RootEntity FOREIGN KEY (ParentId) REFERENCES RootEntity (Id) ON DELETE CASCADE, -- foreign key to referenced (child) ContainerEntity CONSTRAINT FK_RootEntiry_Children__ContainerEntity FOREIGN KEY (ChildContainerEntityId) REFERENCES ContainerEntity (Id) ON DELETE CASCADE, -- foreign key to referenced (child) AtomEntity CONSTRAINT FK_RootEntiry_Children__AtomEntity FOREIGN KEY (ChildAtomEntityId) REFERENCES AtomEntity (Id) ON DELETE CASCADE, ); CREATE TABLE ContainerEntity_Children ( ParentId UNIQUEIDENTIFIER NOT NULL, OrderIndex INT NOT NULL, ChildContainerEntityId UNIQUEIDENTIFIER NULL, ChildAtomEntityId UNIQUEIDENTIFIER NULL, ChildIsContainerEntity BIT NOT NULL, CONSTRAINT PK_ContainerEntity_Children PRIMARY KEY NONCLUSTERED (ParentId, OrderIndex), -- foreign key to parent ContainerEntity CONSTRAINT FK_ContainerEntity_Children__RootEntity FOREIGN KEY (ParentId) REFERENCES ContainerEntity (Id) ON DELETE CASCADE, -- foreign key to referenced (child) ContainerEntity CONSTRAINT FK_ContainerEntity_Children__ContainerEntity FOREIGN KEY (ChildContainerEntityId) REFERENCES ContainerEntity (Id) ON DELETE CASCADE, -- foreign key to referenced (child) AtomEntity CONSTRAINT FK_ContainerEntity_Children__AtomEntity FOREIGN KEY (ChildAtomEntityId) REFERENCES AtomEntity (Id) ON DELETE CASCADE, ); CREATE TRIGGER Delete_RootEntity_Children ON RootEntity_Children FOR DELETE AS DELETE FROM ContainerEntity WHERE Id IN (SELECT ChildContainerEntityId FROM deleted) DELETE FROM AtomEntity WHERE Id IN (SELECT ChildAtomEntityId FROM deleted) GO CREATE TRIGGER Delete_ContainerEntiy_Children ON ContainerEntity_Children FOR DELETE AS DELETE FROM ContainerEntity WHERE Id IN (SELECT ChildContainerEntityId FROM deleted) DELETE FROM AtomEntity WHERE Id IN (SELECT ChildAtomEntityId FROM deleted) GO

  • Core Data NSPredicate to filter results

    - by Bryan
I have a NSManagedObject that contains a bID and a pID. Within the set of NSManagedObjects, I only want a subset returned and I'm struggling to find the correct NSPredicate or way to get what I need out of Core Data. Here's my full list: bid pid 41 0 42 41 43 0 44 0 47 41 48 0 49 0 50 43 There is a parent-child relationship above. Rules: If a record's PID = 0, it means that that record IS a parent record. If a record's PID != 0, then that record's PID refers to it's parent record's BID. Example: 1) BID = 41 is a parent record. Why? Because records BID=42 and record BID=47 have PID's of 41, meaning those are children of its PID record. 2) BID = 42 has a parent record with a BID = 41. 3) BID = 43 is a parent record. 4) BID = 44 is a parent record. 5) BID = 47 has a parent record with a BID = 41 because its PID = 41. See #1 above. 6) BID = 48 is a parent record. 7) BID = 49 is a parent record. 8) BID = 50 is a child record, and its parent record has a BID = 43. See the pattern? Now, basically from that, I want only the following rows fetched: bid pid 44 0 47 41 48 0 49 0 50 43 BID = 41, BID = 48, BID = 49 should all be returned because there are no records with a PID equal to their BID. BID = 47 should be returned because it is the most recent child of PID = 41. BID = 50 should be returned because it is the most recent child of PID = 43. Hope this helps explain it more.
