    I have a pre-code page coded as follows: <div id="linearBg"> <div id="wrapper"> <div class="logo"></div> <div class="navigation"></div> <div class="video"></div> <div class="content"></div> </div> </div> Where linearBg is a gradient background, the back board of the website. Wrapper is the container for the inner div's, and the rest are content oriented. So i've already implemented this with styles and all sorts, but the thing is I want to add: <div class="watermark"></div> underneath/behind both the content and video div, sort of like a reverse watermark, I've tried z-indexing but i'm not an expert. Could you guide me on to do make this possible? Thanks in advance

    I was playing around with Ruby and Latex to create a color coding set. I'm more than a novice with C++, but haven't looked at Ruby until now. So, still learning a lot of coding. I have the following block of code below. When attempting to run this, band1 = 1e+02. I've tried band1 = (BigDecimal(i) * 100).to_f thinking maybe there was some odd floating point issue. This is just me trying anything though as an integer multiplied by an integer should create an integer, if I'm still thinking correctly. I've tried a variety of other things as well (things that I can do in C++, but this ain't C++), but to no avail.   • how can i query a table that got split to 2 smaller tables? Union? view ?

    hello friends, I have a very big table (nearly 2,000,000 records) that got split to 2 smaller tables. one table contains only records from last week and the other contains all the rest (which is a lot...) now i got some Stored Procedures / Functions that used to query the big table before it got split. i still need them to query the union of both tables, however it seems that creating a View which uses the union statement between the two tables lasts forever... that's my view: CREATE VIEW `united_tables_view` AS select * from table1 union select * from table2; and then i'd like to switch everywhere the Stored procedure select from 'oldBigTable' to select from 'united_tables_view'... i've tried adding indexes to make the time shorter but nothing helps... any Ideas? PS the view and union are my idea but any other creative idea would be perfect! bring it on! thanks!

I don't want the initial image to disappear I simply want to show the second image on top off the first image when hovering over the first image. I don't know if it is helpful but I use Wordpress and I am not a PHP expert. I even don't know if this is going to work. Thats why I am asking if somebody can help me with this. Thanks in advance

  • Create ordering in a MySQL table without using a number (because then it's hard to put something in

    I have a long list of items (say, a few million items) in a mysql table, let's call it mytable and it has the field mytable.itemid. The items are given an order, and can be re=ordered by the user by drag and drop. If I add a field called mytable.order and just put numbers in them, it creates problems: what if I want to move an item between 2 other items? Then all the order fields have to be updated? That seems like a nightmare. Is there a (scalable) way to add order to a table that is different from just giving every item a number, order by that, and do loads of SQL queries everytime the order is changed?

    Hi, I have a phpBB site running with Nginx (PHP via FastCGI). It works OK. However, some specific actions like moving or deleting a topic fail. Instead, I'm redirected to the forum index. I think it is a problem with the URLs redirection or rewriting.     I have table data containing an integer value X ranging from 1.... unknown, and an integer value Y ranging from 1..9 The data need to be presented in order 'X then Y'. For one visual component I can set multiple index names: X;Y But for another component I need a one-dimensional integer value as index (sort order). If X were limited to an upper bound of say 100, the one-dimensional value could simply be X*100 + Y. If the one-dimensional value could have been a real, it could be X + Y/10. But if I want to keep X unlimited, is there a way to calculate a single integer 'indexing' value from X and Y? [Added] Background information: I have a Gantt/TreeList component where the tasks are ordered on a TaskIndex integer. This does not need to be a real database field, I can make it a calculated field in the underlying client dataset. My table data is e.g. as follows: ID Baseline ParentID 1 0 0 (task) 5 2 1 (baseline) 8 1 1 (baseline) 9 0 0 (task) 12 0 0 (task) 16 1 12 (baseline) Task 1 has two baselines numbered 1 and 2 (IDs 8 and 5) Task 9 has no baselines Task 12 has one baseline numbered 1 (ID 16) Baselines number 1-9 (the Y variable from my question); 0 or null identify the tasks ID's are unlimited (the X variable) The user plays with visibility of baselines, e.g. he wants to see all tasks with all baselines labeled 1. This is done by updating a filter on the table. Right now I constantly have to recalculate TaskIndex after changing the filter (looping through records). It would be nice if TaskIndex could be calculated on the fly for each record knowing only the data in the current record (I work in Delphi where a client dataset has an OnCalcFields event handler, that is triggered for each record when necessary). I have no control over the inner workings of the visual component.

  • Does the google crawler really guess URL patterns and index pages that were never linked against?

    I'm experiencing problems with indexed pages which were (probably) never linked to. Here's the setup: Data-Server: Application with RESTful interface which provides the data Website A: Provides the data of (1) at http://website-a.example.com/?id=RESOURCE_ID Website B: Provides the data of (1) at http://website-b.example.com/?id=OTHER_RESOURCE_ID So the whole, non-private data is stored on (1) and the websites (2) and (3) can fetch and display this data, which is a representation of the data with additional cross-linking between those. In fact, the URL /?id=1 of website-a points to the same resource as /?id=1 of website-b. However, the resource id:1 is useless at website-b. Unfortunately, the google index for website-b now contains several links of resources belonging to website-a and vice versa. I "heard" that the google crawler tries to determine the URL-pattern (which makes sense for deciding which page should go into the index and which not) and furthermore guesses other URLs by trying different values (like "I know that id 1 exists, let's try 2, 3, 4, ..."). Is there any evidence that the google crawler really behaves that way (which I doubt). My guess is that the google crawler submitted a HTML-Form and somehow got links to those unwanted resources. I found some similar posted questions about that, including "Google webmaster central: indexing and posting false pages" [link removed] however, none of those pages give an evidence.

  • What db fits me?

    Dear Everyone I am currently using mysql. I am finding that my schema is getting incredibly complicated. I seek to find a new db that will suit my needs: Let's assume I am building a news aggregrator (which collects news from multiple website). I then run algorithms to determine if two news from different sites are actually referring to the same topic. I run this algorithm to cluster news together. The relationship is depicted below: cluster \--news1 \--word1 \--word2 \--news2 \--word3 \--news3 \--word1 \--word3 And then I will apply some magic and determine the importance of each word. Summing all the importance of each word gives me the importance of a news article. Summing the importance of each news article gives me the importance of a cluster. Note that above cluster there are also subgroups( like split by region etc), and categories (like sports, etc) which I have to determine the importance of that in a particular day per se. I have used views in the past to do so, but I realized that views are very slow. So i will normally do an insert into an actual table and index them for better performance. As you can see this leads to multiple tables derived like (cluster, importance), (news, importance), (words, importance) etc which can get pretty messy. Also the "importance" metric will change. It has become increasingly difficult to alter tables, update data (which I am using TRUNCATE TABLE) and then inserting from null. I am currently looking into something schemaless like Mongodb. I do not need distributedness. I would very much want something that is reasonably fast (which can be indexed) and something that is a lot more flexible that traditional RDMBS. Also, I need something that has some kind of ORM because I personally like ORM a lot. I am currently using sqlalchemy Please help!

    I'm trying to install the Perl module Set::IntervalTree on Mac OS X. I recently installed it today on an Ubuntu box with no problem. Disable All Triggers on a Database – Disable All Triggers on All Servers Question : How to disable all the triggers for a database? Additionally, how to disable all the triggers for all servers? For answer execute the script in the blog post. Importance of Master Database for SQL Server Startup I have received following questions many times. I will list all the questions here and answer them together. What is the purpose of Master database? Should our backup Master database? Which database is must have database for SQL Server for startup? Which are the default system database created when SQL Server 2005 is installed for the first time? What happens if Master database is corrupted? Answers to all of the questions are very much related. 2008 DECLARE Multiple Variables in One Statement SQL Server is a great product and it has many features which are very unique to SQL Server. Regarding feature of SQL Server where multiple variable can be declared in one statement, it is absolutely possible to do. 2009 How to Enable Index – How to Disable Index – Incorrect syntax near ‘ENABLE’ Many times I have seen that the index is disabled when there is a large update operation on the table. Bulk insert of very large file updates in any table using SSIS is usually preceded by disabling the index and followed by enabling the index. I have seen many developers running the following query to disable the index. 2010 List of all the Views from Database Many emails I received suggesting that they have hundreds of the view and now have no clue what is going on and how many of them have indexes and how many does not have an index. Some even asked me if there is any way they can get a list of the views with the property of Index along with it. Here is the quick script which does exactly the same. You can also include many other columns from the same view. Minimum Maximum Memory – Server Memory Options I was recently reading about SQL Server Memory Options over here. While reading this one line really caught my attention is minimum value allowed for maximum memory options. The default setting for min server memory is 0, and the default setting for max server memory is 2147483647. The minimum amount of memory you can specify for max server memory is 16 megabytes (MB). 2011 Fundamentals of Columnstore Index There are two kinds of storage in a database. Row Store and Column Store. Row store does exactly as the name suggests – stores rows of data on a page – and column store stores all the data in a column on the same page. These columns are much easier to search – instead of a query searching all the data in an entire row whether the data are relevant or not, column store queries need only to search a much lesser number of the columns. How to Ignore Columnstore Index Usage in Query In summary the question in simple words “How can we ignore using the column store index in selective queries?” Very interesting question – you can use I can understand there may be the cases when the column store index is not ideal and needs to be ignored the same. You can use the query hint IGNORE_NONCLUSTERED_COLUMNSTORE_INDEX to ignore the column store index. The SQL Server Engine will use any other index which is best after ignoring the column store index. 2012 Storing Variable Values in Temporary Array or Temporary List SQL Server does not support arrays or a dynamic length storage mechanism like list. Absolutely there are some clever workarounds and few extra-ordinary solutions but everybody can;t come up with such solution. Additionally, sometime the requirements are very simple that doing extraordinary coding is not required. Here is the simple case. Move Database Files MDF and LDF to Another Location It is not common to keep the Database on the same location where OS is installed. Usually Database files are in SAN, Separate Disk Array or on SSDs. This is done usually for performance reason and manageability perspective. Now the challenges comes up when database which was installed at not preferred default location and needs to move to a different location. Here is the quick tutorial how you can do it. UNION ALL and ORDER BY – How to Order Table Separately While Using UNION ALL If your requirement is such that you want your top and bottom query of the UNION resultset independently sorted but in the same result set you can add an additional static column and order by that column. Let us re-create the same scenario.   • Reuse classes and objects for both WCF and non-WCF

    I have several classes such as Order, Customer, etc. These classes serve for holding data and nothing more. I want to be able to reuse these classes in other projects in the future, but for some reason I don't quite understand, WCF forces me to decorate the data members with the [DataMember] attribute, forcing me to reference WCF plumbing that I will never use in other projects. I would imagine that WCF lets you take any serializable class and use it as a content type. Am I understanding this correctly?

  • Non-resizeable, bordered WPF Windows with WindowStyle=None

    Basically, I need a window to look like the following image: http://screenshots.thex9.net/2010-05-31_2132.png (Is NOT resizeable, yet retains the glass border) I've managed to get it working with Windows Forms, but I need to be using WPF. To get it working in Windows Forms, I used the following code: protected override void WndProc(ref Message m) { if (m.Msg == 0x84 /* WM_NCHITTEST */) { m.Result = (IntPtr)1; return; } base.WndProc(ref m); } This does exactly what I want it to, but I can't find a WPF-equivalent. The closest I've managed to get with WPF caused the Window to ignore any mouse input. Any help would be hugely appreciated :)

  • Non-uniform snap interval on flex slider?

    I'm currently using the Flex HSlider control. I'd like the slider to only allow the user to pick the values: [0, .5, 1, 2] I can get it close to what I want by setting the snapInterval to .5 and by explicitly providing the tickValues. But that still allows the value 1.5 to be selected. Is there a way to provide explicit snapValues or to only allow entries in tickValues to be selected? Or do I have to roll my own slider?     I really don't want to rile anyone's feathers and I really enjoy blogs like Joel, Coding Horror, Scott Hanselman, etc. However, what are some good blogs/podcasts that focus on other platforms besides Microsoft based ones or maybe even no particular platform at? In particular I am interested in areas like Python, Ruby, Java, C, but any area besides Microsoft fits the bill. There may be other similar questions to this but I think this one is unique since we might get some answers we wouldn't see otherwise, that is, everyone knows Coding Horror is great. Please try to refrain from religious debates; the content of the blog is more important than the platform they are talking about, I just want to get an idea of what is out there and worth the time.

  • WPF ComboBox Binding to non string object

    I'm using MVVM (MVVM Light Toolkit) and have a property on the view model which exposes a list of objects. The objects contain two properties, both strings, which correlate to an abbreviation and a description. I want the ComboBox to expose the pairing as "abbreviation - description". If I use a data template, it does this easily. I have another property on the view model which represents the object that should display as selected -- the chosen item in the ComboBox. I'm binding the ItemsSource to the list, as it represents the universe of available selections, and am trying to bind the SelectedItem to this object. I'm killing myself trying to figure out why I can't get it to work, and feeling more like a fraud by the hour. In trying to learn why this works, I created the same approach with just a list of strings, and a selected string. This works perfectly. So, it clearly has something to do with the typing... perhaps something in choosing equality? Or perhaps it has to do with the data template?   • ASP.NET MVC2 Model Validation Fails with Non-US Date Format

    I have a small MVC2 app that displays in two cultures: en-US and es-MX. One portion contains a user input for a date that is pre-populated with the current date in the Model. When using en-US, the date field is displayed as MM/dd/yyyy and can be changed using the same format without causing any validation errors. When using es-MX, the date field is displayed as dd/MM/yyyy, but when the date is edited in this format, the server-side validation fails with the message: The value '17/05/1991' is not valid for The Date. One of the first things that jumps out at me about that message is that it is not localized. Both the message itself (which I do not think I can control) and the Display Name of the field (which I can control and is localized in my code). Should be displaying in a localized format. I have tried stepping through the code to see exactly where the validation is failing, but it seems to be happening inside some of the compiled MVC or DataAnnotations code that I cannot see.
