Offshore development has become synonymous with cost saving for software and web development companies situated in North America, Europe and various other eastern countries. It saves the cost for sure but it there are challenges that needed to be addressed. If those challenges are addressed well, there are millions of small and medium businesses eager to try these offshore software and web development services. I am trying to list few of those challenges and their solutions in this article.
Hello again :).There is an interesting entry about Custom Gridview Paging on ASP.NET 2.0 subject on here: http://forums.asp.net/t/1069129.aspx I tweaked the original code for my own convenience and posted it on this thread but I noticed yesterday that some people had some questions on it that I didn't notice. Hence I uploaded an small sample available on here:http://www.mediafire.com/?2a8c34zn4495mq8Try it out and if you have any questions please let me know.Cheers!
I have a job I would like to leave. On advice from friends and parents I have stayed. Their primary concern is that it would look bad on my resume if I left only after a few months of joining.
My concerns with the job are as follows:
When I started it was preferred I provide and use my own equipment.
Could be out of business in a few months from lack of cash flow
Poor code quality: memory leaks and lack of error handling. The same mistakes continue to be made even though I have raised the issue. It has become evident that co-workers do not understand memory management rules of the platform and are not interested in learning them. Yet, there is still surprise from them when strange bugs continue to crop up. As a result don't feel I will learn from co-workers. Plus, fixing the the lingering bugs and trying to keep up on new feature development is like a game of whack-o-mole that never ends.
I don't believe in the companies vision or its ability to execute on the ideas anymore.
My ideas and suggestions for very small tweaks are quickly dismissed. And so more than half or so have come back as bugs that we end up needing to address. I have been told to wait on fixing bugs in codes until we can talk to the original author. I don't feel I am allowed to take initiative to just fix/change things and do what I think is best. Everything needs consensus even for a bug fix before any work is done. I am adopting a shut-up and just do what I am told approach to save myself from ulcers.
Lots of meetings (I am personally not involved in all of them which is good) but the sheer amount reminds me of days at a big corporation. Why is everyone around me always meeting?
It's a small company. I can count everyone on my toes and fingers. I can say with certainty I have no interest in working with any of them again. This is the first time I have truly worked with a group of so called "B and C players".
Ultimately, I think it is my fault for not doing a better job evaluating the team and company before joining. But I have generated a better set of questions when probing companies in the future. My questions are:
How bad does it look to have left a job soon (few months) after starting?
What would be the best way to explain my concerns and reasons for leaving without badmouthing the company?
Should I stick it out to what I believe will be the soon end of the company?
Sorry if this has been discussed, wasn't sure what to use to search for the particular question I had.
I'm installing sickrage and couchpotato and headphones, and will be doing multiple installs I made a small batch script just to install everything but what I don't know how to do is automatically make them auto start on boot. Since they all require a file to be created I do not know how to make this file auto create and populate what needs to be put into it.

I'm working on a simple game that has the user control a space ship that shoots small circular projectiles. However, I'm not sure how to render these. Right now I know how to make a LPDIREC3DSURFACE for a sprite and render it onto a LPDIRECT3DDEVICE9, but that's only for a single sprite. I assume I don't need to constantly create new surfaces and devices. How should projectile generation/rendering be handled? Thanks in advance.

A lot of people believe that in order to get good rankings they need to build a large website. As a general rule, we classify a website as large if there are more than 300 pages of content available to the readers. This may seem like a lot of content, but even this can be considered a small website by those who have been in the SEO industry for a long time.
Normally, when we release source code we're hoping that other people will build on it and improve it. Today's release of Jarlsberg , a small yet full-featured microblogging...
There may be lots of things you don't know about your website, but there are three really important points that all small businesses should be aware of if they want to get great results from their websites. 1. Quality, relevant content on your website can make or break a sale.
If you're wondering about what screen sizes and flavors of Android are currently out in the wild, the Android Developers site has a handy little chart of both (each image below is hyperlinked to the page):
So, as far as platforms go, there aren't many people still out there running less than 2.X... and you'd probably be safe not worrying about Small or Low Density screens.
I'd be curious to know if any of the other app stores (Amazon, Archos, etc.) offer similar stats...
I have a site which was performing well in the search engines - I wanted to redevelop the site, so in the interim period I set up a redirect from my site to my parent company's site (which has a small section relating to my services). Fairly quickly, this section of the parent site inherited my seo ranking, backlinks etc, which is fine and is what I expected. However, I now have a new site ready and plan to remove the redirect - do you know how this is likely to affect my site? Many thanks
I have some DVD video discs that I am intending to sell. I would like to get information such as region, language, subtitles.
Some of the discs are in another language which I cannot read, and some are from small publishers and do not have such information on the disc or the boxes.
What methods can I use to access this information? Please list command line options, as well as common GUI based tools (eg VLC player).
If you have a small business, or a business of any kind, you need to have a good on page SEO strategy so your page will be optimized for the web and draw in the visitors you want and need to make your business a success. When you begin developing an SEO plan there are some factors you definitely want to consider in order to get the most out of that plan.
