  • Where are global variables stored in memory?

    Are they stored in the heap or there is separate area where they are stored? Similarly where are static variables stored in memory. They can't be stored in frames as they will get destroyed when the function returns. PS - Can someone suggest a good book that talks about memory mapping for C/C++.

    hello, i am trying to get the headers of an ajax request i made through jquery $.get(url, function(response, textStatus, headers ) { console.log("Response: %o", response); console.log("TextStatus: %o", textStatus); console.log("Request: %o", headers); } ); this does not seem to be working however: the response and textstatus are printing, but the "headers" object seems to be undefined i simply want to check if it is what i expect (content type='excel', etc) or if the response type is html, i can assume the page i was calling is an error

    Hi As i know, all the threads share memory location. For example a global variable changes in one thread will reflect in another thread. Since each thread has its own stack, the local variables that are created inside the thread is unique. In this case, why do we need to go for thread specific data mechanism?. Can't it be achieved by auto storage varibles inside the thread function ? Kindly clarify!!!. BR Rj

    I have a debug .exe file that i want to run on other machines that don't have MS Visual Studio 2008 installed on them. How can this be done? The release option doesn't work as the application does not function correctly when build in release (not sure why).     Hey all, this is my first post. I recently upgraded a wordpress site, all things load but on the top of the page and bottom of the page I get this error.     Hi, I'm looking for an algorithm that given two permutations of a sequence (e.g. [2, 3, 1, 4] and [4, 1, 3, 2]) calculates the cycles that are needed to convert the first into the second (for the example, [[0, 3], [1, 2]]). The link from mathworld says that Mathematica's ToCycle function does that, but sadly I don't have any Mathematica license at hand... I'd gladly receive any pointer to an implementation of the algorithm in any FOSS language or mathematics package. Thanks!
