  I am currently learning how to make advanced usage of WPF via the Prism (Composite WPF) project. I watch many videos and examples and the demo application StockTraderRI makes me ask this question: What is the exact role of each of the following part? SomethingService: Ok, this is something to manage data SomethingView: Ok, this is what's displayed SomethingPresentationModel: Ok, this contains data and commands for the view to bind to (equivalent to a ViewModel). SomethingPresenter: I don't really understand it's usage SomethingController: Don't understand too I saw that a Presenter and a Controller are not necessary but I would like to understand why they are here. Can someone tell me their role and when to use them?

• Solr date range problem and specific date problem

  I index some data include date in solr but when search for specific date, i get some record (not all record) include some record in next day for example: http://localhost:8080/solr/select/?q=pubdate:[2010-03-25T00:00:00Z TO 2010-03-25T23:59:59Z]&start=0&rows=10&indent=on&sort=pubdate desc i have 625000 record in 2010-03-25 but above query result return 325412 that include 14 record from 2010-03-26. Also i try with below query, but not get right result http://localhost:8080/solr/select/?q=pubdate:"2010-03-25T00:00:00Z"&start=0&rows=10&indent=on&sort=pubdate desc How to get right result for specific date ??? • MySQL dual license behavior

  Hi SO, I'm running a commercial(closed source) Web App development for the first time. Initially I considered MySQL the most feasible option for a DB, until I get quite confused about its dual license behavior. If I want a commercial application do I still can use the GPL version of MySQL or I must get a license? The same question in a different way: If I use MySQL's GPL version does that force me to license the whole app under GPL? Either case I would go with PostgreSQL, I just want to make really really sure about this. Even in SO I've seen related("duplicates") questions but never a clear answer... All other tools I'm gonna use to code the project are licensed under BSD or MIT. Just in case, the role of MySQL in the project is merely as relational DB to store persistent data and query it. • How to create a tree with filtered nodes from drupal taxonomy.

  I'm trying to create a menu tree in drupal like this: - term 1 node 1 node 2 - sub-term 1 node 3 node 4 + sub-term 2 - sub-term 3 node 5 - sub-sub-term 1 node 6 + term 2 etc. (Sub-term 2 and term 2 are toggled closed.) Some requirements: Output this using something like JQuery Menu to get an interactive tree Filter the nodes by cck type Filter the nodes by cck field Only have terms with nodes or other active terms in them show up Mark the current node as such, and automatically open the tree to that point Do I have to write this myself, or are there a combination of modules that can do it? I've got Advanced Taxonomy Blocks, which is pretty close, but it doesn't list the nodes.

• How to organize code using an optional assembly reference?

  I am working on a project and want to optionally use an assembly if available. This assembly is only available on WS 2008 R2, and my ideal product whould be a common binary for both computers with and without the assembly. However, I'm primarily developing on a Windows 7 machine, where I cannot install the assembly. How can I organize my code so that I can (with minimum changes) build my code on a machine without the assembly and secondly, how do I ensure that I call the assembly functions only when it is present. (NOTE : The only use of the optional assembly is to instantiate a class in the library and repeatedly call a (single) function of the class, which returns a boolean. The assembly is fsrmlib, which exposes advanced file system management operations on WS08R2.) I'm currently thinking of writing a wrapper class, which will always return true if the assembly is not present. Is this the right way to go about doing this?

• Best language to use when exporting an excel file

  I want to write a macro program that takes in data from a text file and then arranges it in a specific manner in an excel file. I don't know which language has the best features for dealing with Excel. I prefer java, and I see someone made an api called JExcelApi, but I'm not sure about it's capabilities. I would like to be able to generate a graph automatically in excel based on the data in a certain column. Is this possible in any language? I would guess that Microsoft's VB or C# would have an advanced feature such as this, but I'm not sure. Thanks.

• How to mutate rows of data frame - replacing one value with another

  I'm having trouble with what I think is a basic R task. Here's my sample dataframe named 'b' Winner Color Size Tom Yellow Med Jerry Yellow Lar Jane Blue Med where items in the Winner column are factors. I'm trying to change "Tom" in the dataframe to "Tom LLC" and I can't get it done. Here's what I tried: Simple way: b$winner[b$winner=='Tom'] = as.factor('Tom LLC') but that failed with "invalid factor level, NAs generated" Next I tried a more advanced route: name_reset = function (x, y, z) { if (x$winner == y) {x$winner = z} } b = adply(b,1,name_reset,'Tom','Tom LLC') but that failed with "Error in list_to_dataframe(res, attr(.data, "split_labels")) : Results are not equal lengths" I feel I'm missing something basic. Can someone redirect me or offer suggestions on the code I wrote above? Thank you very much

  Guys; Hope you are fine. I have to make a Web Project (very simple) I will have a DB with 2 tables. One table has 2 fields. From the WebPage I need a Google like search query, for example I have Movie Title and Movie Review on the Table. I need to be able to search those 2 fields like this: "Best Movie" + Action I will need to make a query to the DB to search for the "Best Movie" string togheter plus optional ACTION word on 2 fields of the table. Am I clear??? :) Does somebody know if this has already been made, and if it´s public and free and where to get it :) Thanks in advanced EDIT: My concern is to translate the Google like Symbols ("", +, -, ~) to build a valid query.

  I need a regex to run against strings like the one below that will convert absolute paths to relative paths under certain conditions. <p>This website is <strong>really great</strong> and people love it <img alt="" src="http://localhost:1379/Content/js/fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/msn/teeth_smile.gif" /></p> Rules: - If the url contains "/Content/" I would like to get the relative path - If the url does not contain "/Content/", it is an external file, and the absolute path should remain Regex unfortunatley is not my forte, and this is too advanced for me at this point. • Configuring IoC container from modules/plug-ins ?

  Hi guys, i am in big dilema.. I am working on highly modular web app in ASP.NET MVC 2 (in fact, core will be super lightweight, all work on modules/plugins). I found MEF pretty useful for modules discovery, but i dont want to us it as IoC container. There is pretty good chance that I will need advanced features of "true" IoC container, so I would like to use Unity. And here is the problem : how to allow modules to configure container (programatically) = register their own types (mvc controllers, custom implementations of services...) at application start without making hard dependency on Unity in all modules ? I know about Common Service Locator project, and it seems pretty good, but this interface co container only allows resolving types, not registering them (afaik). I really hope you can understand my point, I know my english is terrible (I am from non english speaking country :) Thanks a lot !

  Hi fellows, I want to create a professional website for my company. I'm not a designer. I know some html/css, but I don't have much experience making up advanced pages and layouts. I'd expect public area, with various articles, and a "customer zone", accessible via username and password, where clients will be able to track their orders and download files. It needs to look very modern. I don't want to use website templates, because they're too simple. I know some Wordpress, but that's mostly for blogs, and anyways you need to find a right theme besides the CMS itself... Is there any alternative solution, some kind of framework for building such portals? Preferably a system that doesn't require designer skills. Thanks!

  Hello everybody people, One of the frustrations with the standard TreeView is that you can't show a partial selection to indicate that some of the children are selected. A partial selection in a complex tree allows the user to easily determine where the selections are, even if the tree is not completely expanded. A similar idea is used in manu backup programs to allow the user to select the files to be backed up. Does anyone know of a way to make the checks in a treeview checkbox gray? I want to gray the check of a parent node when some (but not all) of its child nodes are checked. Kinda like what you see when you are selecting options to install during a software installation. I have seen several post, but is older (2000, 2007 year). I now, in 2010, the better answer possible is required. I use VS 2008 . Net 3.5 , Windows Forms Thanks in advanced, greetings

• Editing "Time to display recovery options when needed" timeout value using a program

  Hi all, I want to edit the timeout value of 'Time to display recovery options when needed' without using the UI display option. To navigate, Right click on 'Mycomputer' - Properties - Advanced tab - click on SETTINGS of 'Startup and recovery' = 2nd displayed check box. The value thought to be in c:\boot.ini file, but it has value of other timeout 'Time to display other operating systems'. After some searching, i found that 'c:\windows\bootstat.dat' file holds the timeout value for 'Time to display recovery options when needed'... but, i am not able to decode the .dat file or edit that file.. any suggestions would he helpful for me..   vim comes with a nice built-in interactive tutorial. You can access this tutorial by just running: $ vimtutor It is very easy to use because it creates working cases for basic commands. Is there a more advanced tutorial? Has any one though to build one to help uses take their VIM skills to the next level. Most tutorial and cheat-sheet sites out there for vim only show commands but not necessarily specific uses and examples. Is there an advance tutorial out there? Is this the type of project that could be an open source document that everyone can add examples to? Like a Vim Interactive Wiki or similar to the RegEx sites that have the built in regex testers.

• Double hop SQL delegation not working

  I've been trying to diagnose this for some time, and unfortunately Im still getting the dreaded anonymous logon issue when trying to connect to a sql db as a domain user. Steps taken: App Pool created with delegation service acct Site / Virtual dir running with Integrated Windows auth only Made sure site itself can use kerberos KB 215383 Service acct added to IIS_WPG group Service acct added to "act as part of operating system" under Local Security settings Service acct added to Log on as service under Local Security Settings HTTP SPN set for web address + service account (and FQDN) MSSQLSvc SPN set for sql box and domain acct sql is running as Trust for delegation turned on service acct, specified services, and sql service acct After all this, Im still getting the exact same error from when I started. Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON'. This has advanced my balding by at least 5 years so far. I would greatly appreciate any additional tips on diagnosing or setting up.

  I've been getting into compiler creation. I've found some terrific beginner stuff and advanced stuff but nothing in the middle. I've created 3 different simple proof-of-concept compilers for toy languages but I want to expose myself to something real. The most straight forward real language in terms of syntax seems to be C. Since the language I'm most comfortable with right now is C#, I'd love to study the source code of a real non-tutorial C compiler written in C#. Does one (with source code available) exist?

• Is there an easy way to sign a C++ CLI assembly in VS 2010?

  Right now I am setting the Linker/Advanced/KeyFile option. I am getting the "mt.exe : general warning 810100b3: is a strong-name signed assembly and embedding a manifest invalidates the signature. You will need to re-sign this file to make it a valid assembly.". Reading from the web, it sounds like I have to set the delay signing option, download the SDK, and run sn.exe as a post build event. Surely there must be an easier way to do this common operation in VS2010?

• Debugging in visual studio 2008 freezes entire system

  Any time i try to debug in visual studio 2008 my entire system will freeze whenever a breakpoint is hit. I can move the mouse around and that remains responsive but nothing i click on does anything, I can bring up the task manager but can't do anything with it and i am able to lock/unlock the machine. I tried a fix that i found via google that suggested i disable advanced text services but it didn't work. I am using visual studio 2008 with SP1 running on Windows XP Pro, asking here is my last hope before formating/reinstalling so i hope someone can help me out. I debug by running the application in debug mode, the freeze happens no matter what the project size and it seems as if it is just the entire GUI that freezes, the computer carries on working just fine i just can't do anything with it because the GUI is totaly unresponsive.

• Best way to generate an automated report in Google Analytics for a specific collection of URLs

  Currently using Google Analytics as a supplement to our paid tracking software, but neither of them are giving us exactly what we need. I have a list of about 60 or so urls (out of about 1500) on the site that I wish to setup a monthly report for that can be emailed to multiple recipients. I can't seem to figure out how to create a report showing just the hits on these 60 urls, I can apply advanced filters on the content page but those disappear after a while and sometimes error out when adding too many URL's. Is there a method I'm missing in Google Analytics to achieve this goal or am I better running an SSIS package to pull the URL's from the API and formatting a document that way?

• Full-Text Search in SQL Server Express Won't Recognize Latest IFilters

  I'm having difficulty getting full-text search working in SQL Server 2008 Express with Advanced Services. I have a table loaded with .DOCX files as varbinary(MAX) data that I want to use for a full-text catalog, but it doesn't seem to recognize the .DOCX format. Here are the steps that I've taken... Installed the latest Filter Pack 2.0 Exec sp_fulltext_service 'load_os_resources', 1 Exec sys.sp_help_fulltext_system_components 'all' (NOTE: .DOCX is not shown as a filter) Building the full-text catalog fails to identify any key words I initially thought there might be a conflict between x86 SQL Express and x64 Filter Pack on my Windows 7 machine, but I just tried it with everything x86 in a Windows XP virtual machine and got the same result.
