Update: The "Makefile Subsitutions" section of the GNU autoconf manual explains that it's a value that is substituted by autoconf.

• Windows 7 black screen after boot animation

  This is happening with my windows 7 64-bit install frequently. Today i was trying to install an icon pack. There was already a restore point prior to it so i didn't feel like create one. I replaced the following system files in both system32 and sysWOW64 imageres.dll imagesp1.dll zipfldr.dll and shell32.dll After a reboot i see windows boot animation and then a black screen (with no mouse) I let it like that for 10 minutes and the laptop automatically went to sleep mode. I wake it up and see an error box this error "interactive logon failed to initialize" I close it and i'm left with a black screen again, this time with a mouse though. I tried using automatic system repair. It just tells me to remove any extra hardware (i have none attached atm) System restore finishes successfully but doesn't fix the problem. Safe mode doesn't work either. same black screen after boot animation Can someone help me with this? Also, I'll be grateful anyone can upload those default files (listed above) for both system32 and sysWOW64 from a windows 7 64bit install (no service pack)

• Windows - Decrypt encrypted file when user account is destroyed

  I have a Virtual Machine running on my Windows Server 2008 computer that originally was received by me encryped, as the builder of the VM did it on a MAC, which decrypts files by default. I never thought to decrypt these files, as they automatically 'decrypt' when you have permission over them, so the VM has been running for over a year despite the encryption. I just upgraded my computer to Domain Controller (dcpromo.exe). Now when I try to access/run the VM, I can't because I don't have permission to decrypt the files as that was on another logon (local administrator) and now I am the domain administrator. Apparently the local admin is totally nuked when you upgrade to domain controller. I have tried EVERYTHING - taking ownership of the files, which works. Doesn't do anything for me. Adding full control to everyone on the files. I go to File Properties Advanced Details (under encryption) Users who can access this file. The only user is administrator@localcomputername, and there is a cert number. I try adding a new cert, I don't have permission. I don't have permission to: Decrypt the file (access is denied). Copy the file (to another computer) - access denied. I am totally stumped and this VM is a production machine and needs to get up right now. Does anyone have any ideas?

  I use VS2010,C# to develop an ASP.NET web site, my customers want me to have their pages like this: mysite.com/customer (in fact they call mysite/customer/default.aspx) so I've manually created several folders for each customer, and inserted a default.aspx file in the folder so that users can view customer page by typing mysite.com/customer is there a better way for performing this scenario? I don't want to have mysite.com/customer1.aspx, I want to have mysite.com/customer1, is there anyway that I can remove folders (and their containing default.aspx files) and generate something automatic using my customers database? should I use URL rewriting? is there anyway that I can create page mysite.com/customer1.aspx, and users can view it by typing mysite.com/customer1? I think it is possible to rewrite URLs in web.config, but I don't want to do it manually in web.config as my pages would increase in a daily basis thanks

  There are a lot of articles devoted to working with data in MVC, and nothing about MVC 2. So my question is: what is the proper way to handle POST-query and validate it. Assume we have 2 actions. Both of them operates over the same entity, but each action has it's own separated set of object properties that should be bound in automatic manner. For example: Action "A" should bind only "Name" property of object, taken from POST-request Action "B" should bind only "Date" property of object, taken from POST-request As far as I understand - we cannot use Bind attribute in this case. So - what are the best practices in MVC2 to handle POST-data and probably validate it.

• Does Core Data automatically validate new values when they are set?

  In this question, someone asked how to write a validation method for Core Data. I did that, and it looks cool. But one thing doesn't happen: The validation. I can easily set any "bad" value and this method doesn't get called automatically. What's the concept behind this? Must I always first call the validation method before setting any value? So would I write setter methods which call the appropriate validation method first? And if yes, what's the point of following a strict convention in how to write the validation method signature? I guess there's also some automatic way of validation, then. How to activate this?

• Is 40+ Logons on Exchange 2003 per user normal?

  Hello! We've had a problem at work where users sometimes randomly can't connect to exchange. I've found out that it's because they reached the limit of 32 concurrent logons. I increased the maximum allowed connections by adding the key "Maximum Allowed Sessions Per User" in HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeIS\ParametersSystem. But I'm not sure if this is a real good fix. Looking at the logons some users has as many as 15 logons with the exact same logon time. I know for sure that Outlook 2007 does this, as I was watching them while a user connected with Outlook after a restart on the Exchange service. Every user also has an iPhone connected to exchange, I don't know if these cause the same thing. Is this normal? Could there be a bug in the software? (The Outlook 2007 has nothing configured, except added the user, pure vanilla installs). The users are mobile, and when Outlook generates up to 15 connection every time it connects, and I've read (no sources, sorry) that Outlook doesn't time out connections before 2 hours. I might have to set this number real high to prevent it from being a problem.

• How to redirect on apache after running a script through cgi

  I have an ubuntu machine which I have installed apache on. I want to use a web page to run some simple shell script through cgi and then go back to my home screen. I also want to the go-back step to be automatic. I have set a redirect in my apache.conf which works fine but the script doesn't run at all. Is there a way to run the script and only then apply the redirect? Comment: I think this may be the answer but I'm not sure.

  Say I have some highly-visited front-page, which displays number of some items by categories. When some item is added / deleted I need to invalidate this front-page/url and some 2 others. What is the best practice how to invalidate those urls from backend in Varnish (4.x)? From what I captured, I can: implement my HTTP PURGE handler in VCL configuration file, that "bans" urls matching received regex from backend to Varnish, send 3x HTTP PURGE requests for those 3 urls. But is this approach safe for this automatic usage? Basicly I need to invalidate some views everytime some related entity is inserted/updated/deleted. Can it lead to ban list cumulation and increasing CPU consumption? Is there any other approach? Thanks.

• Cannot access Domain Controller through VPN

  In our small network there is a Windows 2008 R2 Domain Controller that also serves as Remote Access Server. For years, we could access this server and the resources in the network over a VPN connection without any problem. Since some time however, I am able to connect to the VPN, but my Windows 8 client (and another one I used for testing purposes) is not able to connect the domain controller afterwards. I can access any other server in the network, but there seems to be a problem regarding the trust between the client(s) and the server. If I connect the client to the network directly over a LAN cable, everything works as expected. Also I can connect to another server over VPN and open a RDP prompt to the DC without a problem. On the client, whenever I try to access the DC, I get an access denied message. I've tried to update the group policies both over VPN and LAN. Also, I've removed the client from the domain and re-added it. The client shows a message that Windows requires valid login information when connected to the VPN - but my credentials are valid. They work when I logon to the client when not connected to the VPN and also when connected to the LAN. Turning off the firewall on the client and the server did not change anything. DNS resolution works both on the server and the client. What else can I do to diagnose and solve the problem?

• Trying to migrate old server to new. Getting duplicate name errors

  I have an existing server on my network that is running under windows 2000 with SQL Server 2000 on it. We are in the process of moving the server to a windows 2008 platform, with SQL 2008 as well. A few changes are happening though. For one, applications that were on the old server, will now be on a new application server. The issue is, the developers of the original applications hard coded the server name in the apps and/or batch files. I could change all the code, but that would require weeks of work. My original idea was to change the hosts and lmhosts files to point to the new servers with a different IP. So i implemented the following where oldserver was the original server and server is the new one brought online: hosts: 192.168.1.10 oldserver 192.168.1.15 server lmhosts: 192.168.1.10 oldserver #pre 192.168.1.15 server #pre Problem is, when i try to do this, i get the following errors: \\server\c$ Logon Failure : The target account name is incorrect. and \\oldserver\c$ A duplicate name exists on the network. I know about renaming servers in AD, but can't do so yet as the original server is in production and i cannot rename it without breaking a lot of things at the moment. I'm wanting to do a proof of concept to the management before renaming the servers. Any idea how i should resolve this?

• Install Windows 8 on SSD and Program & Users on HDD

  I have been dealing with a few problems while installing Windows 8 on my computer. On my old configuration, I had Windows 7 installed on my 60Go SSD, and my programs and user data on my 1To HDD, thanks to relative links. Yet, while installing Windows 8 on my SSD, he made a small partition on my HDD "System related". Plus, I'm afraid using only links is a bit cheap, and I saw lots of people messing with their registry when trying to put user data on another drive. I read a lot about optimizing Windows 8 for SSD, putting Users on another drive, and very similar situation that didn't quite correspond to what I was trying to achieve. Here's what I tried : http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/4275-user-profiles-relocate-another-partition-disk.html Booting on Audit mode and using an XML to relocate Users didn't work as the specified version in the file is a test one, and I don't what to enter if I'm using the last release. Booting with the install DVD in repair mode to do a copy of the User and create a relative link, resulting in an error on the logon screen while entering my password saying that "The profile can't be load" (average translation of my error from french to english) Do anyone know how to do a clean separated install of Windows 8, with OS on a drive, and the other data on a second one ? • OSX server setup suggestions

  I am looking into the possibility to setup an OSX server for my employees, and would like some input on what is the best approach to meet my needs, and perhaps some suggestions if I am moving in the wrong direction. I am thinking of a Mac Mini OSX server, and are not sure if my needs will be met, and what possibilities are out there. I want these capabilities: - Groups/Users managed on server - Shared folders and private folders for users/groups - Access to activated services - Server hosting software for the users (developing tools ++) - Similar to Windows Terminal Server - Virtual desktop environment (both local and over internet/VPN) - Possible to access trough Mac and Windows The reason I am looking at OSX server is that my employees almost only work in OSX environment, and I want to offer the capabilities to logon to the server trough some kind of terminal software, and have full access to their work OSX environment and software on their mac or pc, from anywhere they might be. Instead of having to have multiple setups and need for spending alot of time installing and setting up needed software on every client. This is a small business, where some work on local network, and others from the internet, preferably trough VPN. But a terminal server solution, that are fast and easy to manage would be perfect for our needs. So if anyone have any experience with a similar setup, please let me know what you did, and your experiences with your setup.

• SSO to multiple websites from Sharepoint website

  We have an intranet based on Sharepoint 2010. In this intranet we have several links to other webservers within the same Active Directory, for example a link to our Outlook Web Access site on our Exchange 2010 environment. We have three different setups which visit this Sharepoint environment and the other webservers: Windows 7 clients that are a member of the Active Directory Home pc's that connect through a SSL VPN appliance Standalone thin clients (Windows 7 embedded) within the corporate network The goal is to let people only sign in once. In the first group this isn't a problem because the AD Integrated Authentication works fine and the Windows logon is passed on to Sharepoint and the other webservers. The second group is also working fine because of the LDAP integration that the SSL VPN appliance uses. The third group is however experiencing issues. They need to enter their credentials everytime they click a link to another webserver. They first need to enter credentials for accessing the Sharepoint environment. When clicking the link for their webmail they have to re-enter their credentials, and so on. Can someone tell me what the best solution would be to also get SSO working fine for the third group? Some extra information: We also have a Forefront TMG server in our environment. I read somewhere that Forefront might be part of a solution for this problem, but not sure how.   I have a Meeting Object: Meeting{id, name, time, CreatedBy, UpdatedBy} and a MeetingAssignee{id, MeetingID, EmployeeId, CreatedBy, UpdatedBy) Meeting, as Aggregate root, has a method AssignEmployee. I was about to pass in the current user to the Meeting object as I call AssignEmployee, so that it can update its audit fields accordingly. But this doesn't seem right - is it? Obviously I can keep the audit fields public and change them later - perhaps at service level? What is everyone's else preferred method for updating these fields? Please note: We are not using Nhibernate, but a custom ORM which does not have anything automatic in place. Thanks.

• C# change e-mail 'from' address to a user-provided one.

  We have an app that allows users to send e-mails from our system. It allows the user to specify their e-mail address, and gives them several standard templates to use as a starting point for their e-mail. When we send the e-mails, we use the address they provided as the 'reply-to', but the 'from' address of the e-mail (naturally) looks like our system (from '[email protected]'). Is there a way to change this without getting tangled up in spam filters or automatic blocking? We'd prefer not to confuse the recipient as to who actually composed the e-mail they've received.

• android drawable changes sizes on screen when reading image from file

  Hi I have an image on a private file. I read the file, create the drawable, and assign it to an ImageView. The ImageView has WRAP_CONTENT so the size is automatic. On 320x480 screens, the image looks good But on screens with more resolution and high density 480x800 or 480x854 (N1, droid) , when the image is for example 150x150, I see the image as 100x100. Of course it has something to do with the density but not sure how should I resolve this.   Hi all. I have an application in asp.net mvc 2, and in this application, there are some parts that need to obey an configuration, for example. The app has an document management and the number of document (a field of my domain), need to be manual or automatic, and this choise will be consider in configuration. • Problem running MVC3 app in IIS 7

  I am having a problem getting a MVC 3 project running in IIS7 on a computer running Windows 7 Home-64 bit. Here is what I did. Installed IIS 7. Accessed the server and got the IIS welcome page. Created a directory named d:\MySite and copied the MVC application to it. (The MVC app is just the standard app that is created when you create a new MVC3 project in visual studio. It just displays a home page and an account logon page. It runs fine inside the Visual Studio development server and I also copied it out to my hosting site and it works fine there) Started IIS management console. Stopped the default site. Added a new site named "MySite" with a physical directory of "d:\Mysite" Changed the application pool named MySite to use .Net Framework 4.0, Integrated pipeline When I access the site in the browser I get a list of the files in the d:\MySite directory. It is as if IIS is not recognizing the contents of d:\MySite as an MVC application. What do I need to do to resolve this?

• Profile not loaded correctly (Cannot access registry)

  Every so often, I log on and get the Following Message: User profile was not loaded correctly. You have been logged on with a temporary profile. Changes you make to this profile will be lost when you log off. Please see the event log for details or contact your administrator This almost always happens when somebody else has been on the computer for a while, and then I log on. This never used to happen, but now it happens pretty often. My profile is not permanently corrupted, all I have to do is restart my computer, but this annoys me, and I would like to fix it. I was curios about the reason of this cause, so I looked into the Event Log, and found the root of the problem was the ntuser.dat file in the profile that I was logging on to was locked at logon time. This resulted in the current users registry not being loaded, resulting in failure to load the profile. I just found a microsoft article that mentions this exact issue: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/960464/ The problem is that I do not want to delete this profile; and this issue does not come up every time that I log on, only when somebody else has been on a long time before me. What could be locking this file? Is there any way to get a process list without logging on so that I can identify which process has the file locked? Any other suggestions?

  I'm considering how to do automatic bug tracking and as part of that I'm wondering what is available to match source code line numbers (or more accurate numbers mapped from instruction pointers via something like addr2line) in one version of a program to the same line in another. (Assume everything is in some kind of source control and is available to my code) The simplest approach would be to use a diff tool/lib on the files and do some math on the line number spans, however this has some limitations: It doesn't handle cross file motion. It might not play well with lines that get changed It doesn't look at the information available in the intermediate versions. It provides no way to manually patch up lines when the diff tool gets things wrong. It's kinda clunky Before I start diving into developing something better: What already exists to do this? What features do similar system have that I've not thought of?
