  • From a shell script open a new tab in a specific instance of Firefox.

    - by toc777
    Hi everyone, I have a shell script that creates Firefox profiles and then uses them to open multiple instances of Firefox simultaneously. The problem is how can I open a URL in a particular instance of Firefox? I have tried firefox -CREATEPROFILE test firefox -P 'test' -no-remote firefox -P test -url www.google.ie But the last part which is trying to open the URL using the test profile does not work, it always opens in then default profile. Is there any way to tell Firefox from the command line to open a URL using a particular profile? Thanks.

  • Database layout for an application with geocoding features using geokit

    - by vooD
    I'm developing a real estate web catalogue and want to geocode every ad using geokit gem. My question is what would be the best database layout from the performance point if i want to make search by country, city of the selected country, administrative area or nearest metro station of the selected city. Available countries, cities, administrative areas and metro sations should be defined by the administrator of catalogue and must be validated by geocoding. I came up with single table: create_table "geo_locations", :force => true do |t| t.integer "geo_location_id" #parent geo location (ex. country is parent geo location of city t.string "country", :null => false #necessary for any geo location t.string "city", #not null for city geo location and it's children t.string "administrative_area" #not null for administrative_area geo location and it's children t.string "thoroughfare_name" #not null for metro station or street name geo location and it's children t.string "premise_number" #house number t.float "lng", :null => false t.float "lat", :null => false t.float "bound_sw_lat", :null => false t.float "bound_sw_lng", :null => false t.float "bound_ne_lat", :null => false t.float "bound_ne_lng", :null => false t.integer "mappable_id" t.string "mappable_type" t.string "type" #country, city, administrative area, metro station or address end Final geo location is address it contains all neccessary information to put marker of the real estate ad on the map. But i'm still stuck on search functionality. Any help would be highly appreciated.

  • Can TFS workspaces be used without being tied to a specific machine?

    - by GWLlosa
    So I've got a situation where we have a project with 10 developers. Each developer, when they come in for the day, is randomly issued a machine to use for development that day. The machine names are different, say DEV01 - DEV10. At the time that they are issued to the developers, the machines are identical, and no changes the developers make during the day are persisted on the machines (source code changes are stored in TFS, not locally). These are of course actually virtual machines, but that's not really relevant to the point at hand. The problem is that each morning, the developers run into 3 issues: 1) The machine that they are assigned may not be the same machine they were last assigned to. For example, DevMan A might have used DEV04 yesterday, and received DEV06 today. His workspace definitions are now tied to DEV06; he must create a new workspace, or migrate the old workspace to DEV04. 2) The machine that they are assigned may have been in use yesterday, and some of the mappings may conflict. For example, DevMan A might have DEV04 today, and wish to create a workspace mapping the project folder to "C:\MyProj\Solution". However, DevMan B had DEV04 yesterday, and he used the same project folder. TFS now complains. 3) This may be the first time they are on a given machine. They now need to recreate for this machine all of their source-control mappings for the new machine. All of these issues can be resolved in a straightforward fashion on a case-by-case basis, but it does sap some productivity from the morning. We'd much prefer if the TFS workspace definitions could be 'relaxed', such that they did not include the machine name in the definition somehow. Barring that, if anyone is aware of a solution to the above problems that can run automatically, or with limited user intervention, that would also be ideal.

  • What is the subject of Rspecs its method

    - by Steve Weet
    When you use the its method in rspec like follows its(:code) { should eql(0)} what is 'its' referring to. I have the following spec that works fine describe AdminlwController do shared_examples_for "valid status" do it { should be_an_instance_of(Api::SoapStatus) } it "should have a code of 0" do subject.code.should eql(0) end it "should have an empty errors array" do subject.errors.should be_an(Array) subject.errors.should be_empty end #its(:code) { should eql(0)} end describe "Countries API Reply" do before :each do co1 = Factory(:country) co2 = Factory(:country) @result = invoke :GetCountryList, "empty_auth" end subject { @result } it { should be_an_instance_of(Api::GetCountryListReply) } describe "Country List" do subject {@result.country_list} it { should be_an_instance_of(Array) } it { should have(2).items } it "should have countries in the list" do subject.each {|c| c.should be_an_instance_of(Api::Country)} end end describe "result status" do subject { @result.status } it_should_behave_like "valid status" end end However if I then uncomment the line with its(:code) then I get the following output AdminlwController Countries API Reply - should be an instance of Api::GetCountryListReply AdminlwController Countries API Reply Country List - should be an instance of Array - should have 2 items - should have countries in the list AdminlwController Countries API Reply result status - should be an instance of Api::SoapStatus - should have a code of 0 - should have an empty errors array AdminlwController Countries API Reply result status code - should be empty (FAILED - 1) 1) NoMethodError in 'AdminlwController Countries API Reply result status code should be empty' undefined method code for <AdminlwController:0x40fc4dc> /Users/steveweet/romad_current/romad/spec/controllers/adminlw_controller_spec.rb:29: Finished in 0.741599 seconds 8 examples, 1 failure It seems as if "its" is referring to the subject of the whole test, namely AdminLwController rather than the current subject. Am I doing something wrong or is this an Rspec oddity?

  • Why is short project lifetime and other situation-specific reasons used to excuse crappy code? [clos

    - by sharptooth
    Every now and then (including on SO) people say things implying that "if the project is short lived you can leave obvious defects there" or "that memory leak only accounts for 100 bytes per whole program lifetime and could be left". Now in my practice I always reuse company-owned code to the greatest extent I can. Like if I need something and I can find it in the company codebase I take it from there and reuse or adapt. This means that any crappy code will be reused as well and I might notice or not notice defects therein. So the defect in some "test we only need for a month" can slip into a proram we ship to customers. And a leak that "only accounted for 100 bytes per lifetime" now could account for 100 bytes 10 times per second in a server application intended to run for months. That's why I don't understand why excuses like that are offered. Is our compamy the only one having a source control? Or are we the only company that requires writing human-readable code? Could anyone shed a light on why people seriously offer such excuses?

  • How do I deactivate a specific version of gem?

    - by JayX
    Currently I have two versions of rack installed on my computer 1.0.1 and 1.2.1 However, when I tried to push my git to Heroku, it complains You have already activated rack 1.0.1, but your Gemfile requires rack 1.2.1. Consider using bundle exec. (Gem::LoadError) How can I deactivate rack 1.0.1 and activate 1.2.1 instead? (I can't uninstall 1.0.1 since it's under system folder and I don't have the root password)

  • Android - determine specific locations (X,Y coordinates) on a Bitmap on different resolutions?

    - by Mike
    My app that I am trying to create is a board game. It will have one bitmap as the board and pieces that will move to different locations on the board. The general design of the board is square, has a certain number of columns and rows and has a border for looks. Think of a chess board or scrabble board. Before using bitmaps, I first created the board and boarder by manually drawing it - drawLine & drawRect. I decided how many pixels in width the border would be based on the screen width and height passed in on "onSizeChanged". The remaining screen I divided by the number of columns or rows I needed. For examples sake, let's say the screen dimensions are 102 x 102. I may have chosen to set the border at 1 and set the number of rows & columns at 10. That would leave 100 x 100 left (reduced by two to account for the top & bottom border, as well as left/right border). Then with columns and rows set to 10, that would leave 10 pixels left for both height and width. No matter what screen size is passed in, I store exactly how many pixels in width the boarder is and the height & width of each square on the board. I know exactly what location on the screen to move the pieces to based on a simple formula and I know exactly what cell a user touched to make a move. Now how does that work with bitmaps? Meaning, if I create 3 different background bitmaps, once for each density, won't they still be resized to fit each devices screen resolution, because from what I read there were not just 3 screen resolutions, but 5 and now with tablets - even more. If I or Android scales the bitmaps up or down to fit the current devices screen size, how will I know how wide the border is scaled to and the dimensions of each square in order to figure out where to move a piece or calculate where a player touched. So far the examples I have looked at just show how to scale the overall bitmap and get the overall bitmaps width and height. But, I don't see how to tell how many pixels wide or tall each part of the board would be after it was scaled. When I draw each line and rectangle myself based in the screen dimensions from onSizeChanged, I always know these dimensions. If anyone has any sample code or a URL to point me to that I can a read about this with bitmaps, I would appreciate it. Thanks, --Mike BTW, here is some sample code (very simplified) on how I know the dimensions of my game board (border and squares) no matter the screen size. Now I just need to know how to do this with the board as a bitmap that gets scaled to any screen size. @Override protected void onSizeChanged(int w, int h, int oldw, int oldh) { intScreenWidth = w; intScreenHeight = h; // Set Border width - my real code changes this value based on the dimensions of w // and h that are passed in. In other words bigger screens get a slightly larger // border. intOuterBorder = 1; /** Reserve part of the board for the boardgame and part for player controls & score My real code forces this to be square, but this is good enough to get the point across. **/ floatBoardHeight = intScreenHeight / 4 * 3; // My real code actually causes floatCellWidth and floatCellHeight to // be equal (Square). floatCellWidth = (intScreenWidth - intOuterBorder * 2 ) / intNumColumns; floatCellHeight = (floatBoardHeight - intOuterBorder * 2) / intNumRows; super.onSizeChanged(w, h, oldw, oldh); }

  • static constants return instance of specific class in Flex?

    - by Sang
    So here's what I mean. Let's say I have a class ErrorMessages which holds all my error messages as static constants. So I could access them like ErrorMessages.PASSWORD_INVALID or ErrorMessage.PASSWORD_TOO_SHORT. I want to know if it is possible to have separate classes that hold subset of these constants and access them like ErrorMessages.PASSWORD.INVALID or ErrorMessages.PASSWORD.TOO_SHORT, etc. This way I can more structured static structure and makes it much easier to use autocomplete. I tried few different ways and couldn't figure out if this was possible..

  • Bringing specific results to the front using one MySQL query.

    - by animuson
    I'm setting up my geolocation feature which lists out all the countries in order of name. However, most websites have it set up where the popular countries (such as United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia) are at the front of the list (are shown first rather than in their assigned places). Is it possible to achieve this using the same MySQL query that I am already running to select them? SELECT * FROM `global_flags` ORDER BY `country` Is there a better alternative somewhere? Perhaps something that can reorganize the results after the database has already been queried? I don't want to exclude those results and then manually type them at the beginning because that would waste more space in the file.

  • How do I make a new div with a specific Id + n?

    - by Noor
    I've got a button and when it's pushed this code launches: var nrDivs = "1" var neuDiv = document.createElement("div"); neuDiv.setAttribute("Id","theDiv" + nrDivs); neuDiv.innerHTML = "Text"; $('#allDivs').append(neuDiv); newfeed.draw(neuDiv); I know that right now the script creates a new div with the ID: theDiv1. What I'm trying to do is when I click the button a second time, it creates a div with the ID: theDiv2. Each time the user presses the button there should be a new div drawn and I'm trying to target that new div and insert dynamic text. Thanks, Noor

  • How do I do a count on that meet a specific condition, dependent on several has_many relationships i

    - by Angela
    I have a Model Campaign. A Campaign has many Events. Each Event has an attribute :days. A Campaign also has_many Contacts. Each Contact as a :date_entered attribute. The from_today(contact,event) method returns a number, which is the number of days from the contact's :date_entered till today minus the event's :days. In other words, a positive number shows the number of days from today till the :days of the event is elapsed. If it is negative, if means that the number of days that has elapsed since the :date_entered is greater than the :days attribute of an event. In other words, the event is overdue. What I would like to be able to do is do campaign.overdue and this would result in a total number of contacts that have an overdue event. It shouldn't count multiple events for a single contact, just one contact. How do I do that? It seems like I would need to cycle through all the events for every contact and keep a counter but I'm assuming that there is a better way.

  • Is there a way to find a specific file and then change into the directory containing it in one go?

    - by bergyman
    I'm looking for a way to find what I know will be a unique file, and then change into the directory containing that file. Something along the lines of: find . -name 'Subscription.java' | xargs cd Or: find . -name 'Subscription.java' -exec cd {} \; I know this won't work because it's both trying to cd supplying the entire absolute path, which contains the file, and also because xargs can't do any built in shell commands...but you get the point of what I want to accomplish.

  • Search by ID, no keyword. Tried using :conditions but no result ouput.

    - by Victor
    Using Thinking Sphinx, Rails 2.3.8. I don't have a keyword to search, but I wanna search by shop_id which is indexed. Here's my code: @country = Country.search '', { :with => {:shop_id => params[:shop_id]}, :group_by => 'trip_id', :group_function => :attr, :page => params[:page] } The one above works. But I thought the '' is rather redundant. So I replaced it with :conditions resulting as: @country = Country.search :conditions => { :with => {:shop_id => params[:shop_id]}, :group_by => 'trip_id', :group_function => :attr, :page => params[:page] } But then it gives 0 result. What is the correct code? Thanks.

  • Java: How to I change the color of a specific line or row of string in a Text area?

Is there another method or any way of solving this problem? Thanks! int key = evt.getKeyCode(); if (key == KeyEvent.VK_ENTER) { String tb1EnterdValue = tb1.getText().toString(); if((tb1EnterdValue.equals("yes")) ) { TextArea1.setForeground(Color.green); else { TextArea1.setForeground(Color.lightGray); } this.TextArea1.append(">"+tb1EnterdValue+newline); this.tb1.setText("");

  • Linux server, locating files containing nothing but 4 specific lines.

    - by Denis
    Hi, I'm dealing with a compromised website, in which hackers injected an htaccess instruction to redirect traffic. I can easily locate .htaccess files that contain the forwarding hack, BUT in cases where the directory already contained an htaccess file, they appended the dangerous instructions, so I cannot just deleted any htaccess file or could harm the site by letting formerly pw-protected directories wide open, or urlrewrite instructions (WordPress) be deleted, etc. I could not find the way to locate files that only contain those 4 lines of redirect hack, could you shed some light ? So far, using find . -type f -exec grep -q targetpiratedomain {} \; -exec echo rm {} \; Thanks !

  • SQL to return the rownum of a specific row? (using Oracle db)

    - by jedierikb

I have tried select rownum from (select dog.id as dogId from CANINES dog order by dog.codename asc) where dog.id=206 But this does not work out very well (it returns 1 no matter which dog.id I match on). I was expecting to get back 3. Thanks for your help! Notes http://www.oracle.com/technology/oramag/oracle/06-sep/o56asktom.html I am pretty sure I do not need to use rowid

  • How to populate the span tags between specific tags.

    - by Rachel
    I want to populate span tags for all text nodes between the self closing tags s1 and s2 having the same id.If the transformation of the input to the output form requires the list of ids of the s1 , s2 tag pairs say 1, 2 etc i can assume that it is in place in any form if required.The input can have any structure and not exactly the same as seen in the sample input. It can have any number of s1, s2 tag pairs but each pair will have a unique id. Hope i am clear. How can this be achieved using XSL? Input: <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <title>This is my title</title> </head> <body> <h1 align="center">This <s1 id="1" />is my <s2 id="1" />heading</h1> <p> Sample content <s1 id="2" />Some text here. Some content here. </p> <p> Here you <s2 id="2" />go. </p> </body> </html> Desired output: <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <title>This is my title</title> </head> <body> <h1 align="center">This <span id="1">is my </span>heading</h1> <p> Sample content <span id="2">Some text here. • When mocking a class with Moq, how can I CallBase for just specific methods?

    - by Daryn
    I really appreciate Moq's Loose mocking behaviour that returns default values when no expectations are set. It's convenient and saves me code, and it also acts as a safety measure: dependencies won't get unintentionally called during the unit test (as long as they are virtual). However, I'm confused about how to keep these benefits when the method under test happens to be virtual. In this case I do want to call the real code for that one method, while still having the rest of the class loosely mocked. All I have found in my searching is that I could set mock.CallBase = true to ensure that the method gets called. However, that affects the whole class. I don't want to do that because it puts me in a dilemma about all the other properties and methods in the class that hide call dependencies: if CallBase is true then I have to either Setup stubs for all of the properties and methods that hide dependencies -- Even though my test doesn't think it needs to care about those dependencies, or Hope that I don't forget to Setup any stubs (and that no new dependencies get added to the code in the future) -- Risk unit tests hitting a real dependency. Q: With Moq, is there any way to test a virtual method, when I mocked the class to stub just a few dependencies? I.e. Without resorting to CallBase=true and having to stub all of the dependencies? Example code to illustrate (uses MSTest, InternalsVisibleTo DynamicProxyGenAssembly2) In the following example, TestNonVirtualMethod passes, but TestVirtualMethod fails - returns null. public class Foo { public string NonVirtualMethod() { return GetDependencyA(); } public virtual string VirtualMethod() { return GetDependencyA();} internal virtual string GetDependencyA() { return "! Hit REAL Dependency A !"; } // [... Possibly many other dependencies ...] internal virtual string GetDependencyN() { return "! Hit REAL Dependency N !"; } } [TestClass] public class UnitTest1 { [TestMethod] public void TestNonVirtualMethod() { var mockFoo = new Mock<Foo>(); mockFoo.Setup(m => m.GetDependencyA()).Returns(expectedResultString); string result = mockFoo.Object.NonVirtualMethod(); Assert.AreEqual(expectedResultString, result); } [TestMethod] public void TestVirtualMethod() // Fails { var mockFoo = new Mock<Foo>(); mockFoo.Setup(m => m.GetDependencyA()).Returns(expectedResultString); // (I don't want to setup GetDependencyB ... GetDependencyN here) string result = mockFoo.Object.VirtualMethod(); Assert.AreEqual(expectedResultString, result); } string expectedResultString = "Hit mock dependency A - OK"; }
