• How can I translate my programmatic WCF configuration into app.config

  Hi, I have an self hosted WCF server with hard coded configurations. the server worked fine until I tried to implement some new functionality. the new setting did not work (urrr.... ) and I find it hard to locate where are the problems in my code. instead of digging inside the code, I thought about different approach: Is there any way to dump those hard coded WCF configuration (the entire ) into app.config like text file after all configurations are loaded? this will enable me to have a easy global view of the entire settings .. mmm .. .by the way, does anyone know a way that will do the translation to the opposite direction? config to code. • log4net - configure using multiple configuration files

  Hi, I have an application consisting of a host and pluggable modules (plugins). I want to be able to configure log4net for the host and for each of the other modules. Each of them should have its own configuration file and each will log to a different file. Only the host has an App.config file. The plugins have their own config file containing the log4net config sections. Calling XmlConfigurator.Configure from one of the plugins overrides the host's app.config log4net definitions. Is there an easy way to append configurations instead of overriding them? Thanks, Gai.

• Tomcat 6 configuration example for Ubuntu Linux?

  I'm very new to Tomcat and I'm having some issues figuring out how to set it up. I set it up on Ubuntu Linux and started reading and trying to follow the information given on the apache website here: http://tomcat.apache.org/tomcat-6.0-doc/deployer-howto.html Apparently I'm missing something. I have a WAR named MyWebapp.war and it's in a directory /home/mywebapp. In /etc/tomcat6/Catalina/localhost/MyWebapp.xml, I have the following line: <Context path="/MyWebapp" docBase="/home/mywebapp" antiResourceLocking="false" /> Everything else is the default configuration that came with tomcat6 via the Ubuntu package. When I restart Tomcat and try to go to http://localhost:8080/MyWebapp, I get a 404. The WAR file isn't unpacked and nothing seems to be working. I'm going to be deploying two Grails applications on this server with Tomcat. Is there a more straight forward way to do this?

  Hi All I have a simple EJB jar with a stateless session bean, deployed in JBOSS AS 4.2.2, unde r/server/default/deploy. The bean is registered under JNDI tree as viewed from jboss jmx console and I am able to access it through a remote java client outside JBOSS. Inside EJB jar, I have added some logging to be written to a separate log file, using apache log4j jar and log4j.xml. But I am not able to view any of the logs. Also I do not wish to use jboss-log4j.xml, since there will be many other EJBs to be deployed and wish to have separate log4j for each EJB application. Here is my one of the EJB-jar contents: EJB_DS.jar: log4j.xml classes apache log4j jar is added to /server/default/lib path.   I am using the Model-View pattern on a small application I'm writing. Here's the scenario: The model maintains a list of directories from where it can extract the data that it needs. The View has a Configuration or a Setting dialog where the user can modify this list of directories (the dialog has a JList displaying the list in addition to add and remove buttons). I need some advice from the community: The View needs to communicate these changes to the model. I thought first of adding to the model these methods: addDirectory() and removeDirectory(). But I am trying to limit the number of methods (or channels) that the View can use to communicate with and manipulate the model. Is there any good practice for this? Thank you.

• [JavaScript] How can I load static configuration information

  In my code, I use JavaScript for UI and PHP for back end. I also use PHP to store application settings and sometimes my UI code needs to access this information. My configuration file looks something like this (config.php): $resolution_x = 1920; $resolution_y = 1080; etc... When I need to access any of these settings form JavaScript, i simply use to substitute the value directly, but it just doesn't strike me as very robust. Are they any dangers of doing this that I am not aware of? Is there a better way of doing this? Thank you,

• Customizing File Linkage for a Build Configuration (Not Buil Target)

  I have a project that has several build configurations (FREE version, male-only, female-only, etc.). I am avoiding using multiple build targets because (A) the products are mostly all the same and (B) I don't want to have to do checkbox-management to keep every file I have included with all the targets. However, I have just a few files it would be nice NOT to include in certain builds. For example, I have male and female voice files, but I only want the male files in the male build and female voices in the female build. Question...is there a way to manage the build configuration to prevent these files from being included/linked in? What are my options?

  I'm currently stacked with the web service that im creating right now. when Testing it in local it all works fine but when I try to deploy it to the web server it throws me the following error An error occurred while trying to make a request to URI '...my web service URI here....'. • Detect if PCRE was built without the --enable-unicode-properties or --enable-utf8 configuration switches

  I've a PHP library that uses a number of regular expressions featuring the \P expressions for multibyte strings, e.g. ((((?:\P{M}\p{M}*)+?)|(\'[^\']*\')|(\"[^\"]*\"))!)?\$?([a-z]{1,3})\$?(\d+) While this works on most builds, I've had a few reports of the regexp returning an error. Depending on Operating platform, the error messages from PCRE are: Compilation failed: PCRE does not support \L, \l, \N, \P, \p, \U, \u, or \X at offset n or Compilation failed: support for \\P, \\p, and \\X has not been compiled at offset n I know that I can probably test a regexp at the beginning of my code that uses \P, and trap for a returned error, then use that response to set a compatibility flag and provide a degraded (non UTF-8) regexp without the \P within the main body of my code based on that compatibility flag; but I was wondering if there was any simpler way to identify whether PCRE had been built without the --enable-unicode-properties or --enable-utf8 configuration switches. PHP provides access to PCRE_VERSION constant, but that won't help identify whether \P support is enabled or not.

• Unable to export runnable jar, launch configuration grayed out

  I am not able to figure out how to export a runnable jar in eclipse. I have a java project (project A) (written by someone else) which when imported in Eclipse, I can click Build Project and it will create a projectName.jar file under bin/ directory. That jar file contains binary *.class files. This jar file is added as external library for another java project (project B) which I want to debug. But because all the class files are binary I'm not able to do line-by-line debugging. I tried exporting Runnable Jar in Eclipse, for that I have to select a Launch Configuration. But there is no main class in project A. (I recursively grepped for main and didn't find any). What can I do to export jar of project A that contains respective source code also (which will be used in line-by-line debugging)?

  My situation: We have a mobile version of our website, and want to start redirecting mobile users to it. The plan is to do this in Apache httpd.conf or .htaccess, using something like this: RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} (iPhone|Blackberry|...) RewriteRule (.*) mobile/$1 However we want there to be a way for users to override our default action of redirecting them. One way we thought to do it was to show a link on the mobile site directing back to the regular site, and store a cookie when they use that link. Could the Apache configuration file check a cookie before redirecting? Is there a better way?

The repository is on cvsdude.com, the client is linux. I also use the subclipse plugin that caches the password ok. I vaguely remember that when I started working with it, the command asked interactively if I wanted to save clear password, and I said no. Can this choice be stored somewhere and take precedence over the configuration? Thanks!

Here is my thoughts... Our project is written in codeigniter. The project owner is providing it to their customer. The owner is a business partner with that concept. Besides, the owner needs control of the project code so that the customer will not break rules with him like changing the code or moving it go another server or validity. So the owner needs a system to enable disable the site. Let me give an example... owner.com will have an admin panel where he can either disable or enable the client.com. when he disables the client.com should display a custom message instead of loading the files. client.com is written i a way that i will process requests from owner.com and also the other way round. so, here i want a list of the concepts with which we can implement the ownership and control over client.com any suggestions, links, references, answers will be helpful. If i am missing something in my question i will update my question according to your comments if any so that the users can give in their idea without confusing of what i had asked. THX

• QGraphicsView and custom Cursors

  I am trying to make use of a mix of custom cursors and preset cursors for my QGraphicsView. In my implementation we have created a notion of "modes" for the view. Meaning that depending on what "mode" the user is in, different things will happen on the left-click, or left-click drag. Anyway, none of that is the problem, just the context. The problem arises when I try to change the cursor for each mode. For instance, for mode 1 we want to show the regular Arrow cursor, but for mode 2, we want to use a custom pixmap. Seemingly simple we call graphicsview->viewport()->setCursor(Qt::QArrowCursor)  when we are switching to mode 1, and graphicsview->viewport()->setCursor(our custom cursor) for mode 2. Except it doesn't work at all. Firstly, the cursor does not change to the custom cursor. That is the first problem. However, if through another operation the drag mode of the graphics view gets set to ScrollHandDrag, the cursor will switch to the custom cursor once the drag operation is complete. Weird. But the plot thickens... Once we switch to the custom cursor, it can never be changed back to the ArrorCursor no matter how many times we call setCursor(Qt::QArrowCursor). it also doesn't seem to matter whether I call setCursor on the viewport or the graphics view itself. So, just for fun, I added a call to graphicsview->unsetCursor() just before we want to change the cursor, and that at least rectifies the second problem. The cursor changes just fine so long as we do a little HandDragging in between. Better, but certainly not optimal. However it should be noted, that doing the unsetCursor on the viewport doesn't work. it must absolutely be done on the graphicsview - regardless of the fact that we are setting the cursor on the viewport. To completely patch over the problem I have added these two lines after I set the cursor: graphicsview->setDragMode(QGraphicsView::ScrollHandDrag); graphicsview->setDragMode(QGraphicsView::NoDrag); Which works, but ye gads!! So something magical is happening inside these two methods that fixes the problem, but glancing at the code I don't see what. Something to do with the fact that the drag mode is changing the cursor I imagine. Just for completeness, I should also mention that the thing that triggers the mode change, is a QPushButton that has been added to the scene using QGraphicsScene->addWidget(). I don't know if that has anything to do with it, but you never know. I am hoping that either someone could clarify why I need to make these seemingly random calls. I don't think I am doing anything wrong anywhere. Thanks in advance for any help. EDIT: Here is an actual code example with the cursor patches as described above. You can look at and/or download them from the link below. It was a little long to paste here. I included the framework around which the cursors are changed, because I have a funny feeling that that is important somehow. https://gist.github.com/712654 The code where the problem lies is in MyGraphicsView.cpp starting at line 104. This is where the cursor is set in the graphics view. It is exactly as described above. Keep in mind, with the very ugly patches in place the cursors do work - more or less. Without those lines you will see very clearly the problems listed in the post above. Also included in the link, is all the code for a mainWindow that uses the view, etc... the only thing missing are the images I am using. But the images themselves don't matter, any 16x16 pngs will do.

• Disk Drive not working

  The CD/DVD drive on my sisters' (I'm helping her shift from Win. XP (now officially deprecated by Microsoft) to Ubuntu) system. Now, it may end up being a failed attempt, all together (Almost the whole last year (when she's been on XP) the disk drive hasn't (not even powering on) been working.), I just want to make sure I've explored every remote possibility. Because I figure, "Huh, now that I've got Ubuntu running, instead of XP, that (just) might make a difference.". I have tried using the sudo lshw command in the terminal, to (seemingly) no avil, but, who knows, you might be able to make something out of it.   I have a custom MembershipProvider and a custom RoleProvider. I created the custom MembershipProvider by creating a SimpleMembershipProvider class which implements the MembershipProvider class. After that I changed my web.config and works. So I used the same approach creating a custom RoleProvider. Nothing special, just creating a SimpleRoleProvider class which implements the RoleProvider class. • MSDeploy migrate only configuration from IIS 6 to 7

  We have 19 websites, many of which have many "virtual" directories, on a IIS 6 server. I am trying to migrate the whole thing over to IIS 7 on a different server. Following the instructions on http://learn.iis.net/page.aspx/427/migrate-a-web-site-from-iis-60-to-iis-70/ I attempted the following command line execution: msdeploy -verb:sync -source:metakey=lm/w3svc -dest:package=D:\Temp\Sites.zip > D:\temp\WebDeployPackage.log It appeared to be working until I got a "There is not enough space on the disk" error. The D drive, which you'll notice is the target location for the package and the log has plenty of space (all the resources for the websites are about 5gb, the drive has 200+). Though the C drive is of limited size (6Gb), so that might be the problem. Anyway, I figure the best bet was to try and do a migration of settings/configurations only, not the actual resources. We can easily deploy the resources to the new server with our NAnt build scripts, so that's not an issue. Getting all the correct configurations moved over, however, would be challenging to do manually. So, is there a way to export/package only the configuration/options of the IIS 6 server using msdeploy (or any other tool?)

  I'm using the Uploadify jQuery control for client-side uploads. I think my IIS 7 configuration has issues with it. The uploadify POST immediately returns a HTTP 1.1 302 Found, back to my login page. I've tried to allow anonymous access to the uploading section(subfolder) plus the page(script) that processes the image in the web.config, using the location node(configuration ... location). Seems like the Uploadify post is immediately blocked. Again, this worked fine just using Visual Studio 2008, but when I run the site on the same machine I get the redirect. Your thoughts/ideas are very welcomed!

  Hi, I have a setup with a .NET WCF Service hosted on IIS. The client apps are connecting to the service through a set of ISA proxy's. I don't know how many and don't know about their configuration etc. In the client apps I open a client to the service and make several calls via the same client. It works great in my office, but when I deploy at the customer (using the ISAs), after some calls, the connection breaks. In a successfull case, the client will maximum live a few seconds, but is that too much? I think there might be several proxyes. Maybe it's using load ballancing. pseudo code is something like this: WcfClient myClient = new WcfClient(); foreach (WorkItem Item in WorkItemsStack) myClient.ProcessItem(Item); myClient.Close(); I am thinking whether I have to do something like this foreach (WorkItem Item in WorkItemsStack) { WcfClient myClient = new WcfClient(); myClient.ProcessItem(Item); myClient.Close(); } Any one with experience with this field?
