• Java "constant string too long" compile error. Only happens using Ant, not when using Eclipse

  I have a few really long strings in one class for initializing user information. When I compile in Eclipse, I don't get any errors or warnings, and the resulting .jar runs fine. Recently, I decided to create an ant build file to use. Whenever I compile the same class with ant, I get the "constant string too long" compile error. I've tried a number of ways to set the java compiler executable in ant to make sure that I'm using the exact same version as in Eclipse. I'd rather figure out how to get the same successful compile I get in Eclipse in Ant than try to rework the code to dynamically concatenate the strings.

• Binding to NSTextField Cell not working, edited value resets to default

  I'm working on a Core Data document application that dynamically creates NSTableColumns. The data cell type may be a checkbox, slider, etc. Programmatically binding to all cell types works, except for NSTextFieldCell. All NSTextFieldCells fail to bind, and after editing they return to their default value. This happens no matter if they're binding to a string, a number (with an NSNumberFormatter applied), or a date (NSDateFormatter applied). I'm using the following format to do all bindings: NSDictionary *textFieldOpts = [NSDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys:@"YES", NSContinuouslyUpdatesValueBindingOption, @"YES", NSValidatesImmediatelyBindingOption, nil]; [aCell bind:@"value" toObject:[[entryAC arrangedObjects] objectAtIndex:0] withKeyPath:@"numberData" options:textFieldOpts]; Again, these statements work if the cell type is anything but an NSTextFieldCell. I threw in an observeValueForKeyPath method to log when the value changes... and for other cell types (NSSliderCell for instance) I can see the value changing, but with the NSTextFieldCell, it never, ever updates.   I've been trying to convert my aspx pages to cshtml and having an issue with rendering partial pages from another folder. What I used to do: <% Html.RenderPartial("~/Views/Inquiry/InquiryList.ascx", Model.InquiryList.OrderBy("InquiryId", MvcContrib.Sorting.SortDirection.Descending));%> I would think that the equivalent would be: @Html.RenderPartial("~/Views/Inquiry/_InquiryList.cshtml", Model.InquiryList.OrderBy("InquiryId", MvcContrib.Sorting.SortDirection.Descending)) This is obviously not working, I am getting the following error. CS1973: 'System.Web.Mvc.HtmlHelper' has no applicable method named 'Partial' but appears to have an extension method by that name. Extension methods cannot be dynamically dispatched. Consider casting the dynamic arguments or calling the extension method without the extension method syntax. How would I achieve this with using the Razor view engine?

  We are creating Excel 2007 AddIn using VSTO. Now we have a scenario where in there are 2 buttons. Button 'A' and Button 'B'. Button 'B'needs to be hidden based on the click on the button 'A'. But since the ribbon bar is not getting refreshed dynamically we are unable to see the change on the Ribbon Bar. I heard from some blods we need to use callback methods for the same. Could you please explain and put some code snippet on how to do that ? Will highly appreciate if anyone can help asap ...

• jquery UI portlet inside tab - out of boundary problem

  I am using jquery UI tab, and one of the tab panels contains the UI portlets.   Hi I have a requirement to develop custom reports where we already have some reoprts developed using JasperReports using iReport tool. Now the requirement is to modify those reports design at run time. I should use those existing jrxml files and save as to new report then change the design at run time. Also I should see those newly created reports whenever I want. I have gone through the Jasper API and Dynamic Reports where we can create the reports dynamically at run time but we can't save the design (like JRXML). I am looking for any other JRXML design API to create and modify and save the Jasper Reports at run time. I appreciate if any one can help me. Thanks in Advance Srinivas

  Hello, I try to expose a database via ADO RIA for which we have only an ODBC based interface. The "database" is a server and new elements are developped all the time, so I would like the server to check metadata at start (using the odbc schema methods) and then expose what he finds via RIA services.... clients can the nregenerate when they need access to new elements. As such, I dont ahve any CLR types for all the tabled developped. ResourceType tableType = new ResourceType( typeof(object), ResourceTypeKind.EntityType, null, "Martini", table_name, false ); tableType.CanReflectOnInstanceType = false; I can somehow not put in NULl as CLR element type, and entering typeof(object) seems to result in reflection errors when trying to access the properties. Any documentation on how to do that? I dont really want to get into having types... though if I have to, I probably will dynamically generate some via bytecode emit.

  I want to make my system redirect unknown requests such as www.address.com/a_company to the adress www.address.com/companies/company/ and display the company a_company if it exists in the database, otherwise throw the user to a 404 not found page. So in detail, I want to make namespace that is as the first example dynamically, if the company exist in the database, I have no problem connecting to the database and retrieving information or finding a way to parse a company name, I just need help how to make my system check and run a function every time the address doesn't exist and show the second page (/companies/company/).. I am using an Acl as well, but I think it should be fine if the page is /companies/company and then possibly add /?c=a_company or similar. Thank you. /Marcus

  We're developing applications for AppExchange and are trying to figure out the best way to do development and release management. There are several issues around this: 1) Package Prefixes. We are developing code in unmanaged mode and releasing as managed, so we have to add all the package prefixes into the code. Is there a way to do this dynamically at runtime? Right now we're using an Ant script, which stops us benefitting from the force.com IDE plugin. 2) Resource files... We are doing some ajax-ey stuff and as a result have a few different resource files we upload, some of which are multiple file resources (zip files). Has anyone automated the building of these resources using ANT, and does that work well? Our environment seems very fragile and works for some developers and not others; have other people had this problem? How did you resolve it?

• using second level cache vs pushing objects into the session

  I have some big entities which are frequently accessed in same session. For example, in my application there is a reporting page which consist of dynamically generated chart images. For each chart image on page, client makes requests to corresponding controller and the controller generates images using some entities. I can either use asp.net's session dictionary for "caching" those entities or rely on nhibernate's second level cache support with using cached queries for example. What is your opinion? By the way I will use shared hosting, is second level cache hosting friendly? Thanks.

  Hi All, I'm having a bit of trouble with regex's (C#, ASP.NET), and I'm pretty sure I'm doing something fundamentally wrong. My task is to bind a dynamically created gridview to a datasource, and then iterate through a column in the grid, looking for the string "A&I". An example of what the data in the cell (in template column) looks like is: Name: John Doe Phone: 555-123-1234 Email: [email protected] Dept: DHS-A&I-MRB Here's the code I'm using to find the string value: foreach(GridViewRow gvrow in gv.Rows) { Match m = Regex.Match(gvrow.Cells[6].Text,"A&I"); if(m.Success) { gvrow.ForeColor = System.Drawing.Color.Red; } } I'm not having any luck with any of these variations: "A&I" "[A][&][I]" But when I strictly user "&", the row does turn red.   I have an object of type list from which I wish to use to populate a treeview in asp.net c#. Each object item has: id | Name | ParentId so for example: id | Name | ParentId ------------------------- 1 | Alice | 0 2 | Bob | 1 3 | Charlie | 1 4 | David | 2 In the above example, the parent would be Alice having two children Bob and Charlie. David is the child of Bob. I have had many problems trying to dynamically populate the treeview recursively in c# ASP.NET Does any one have a simple solution? Btw: you can use People.Id, People.Name and People.ParentId to access the members since it is an object belonging to list. I can post you my code so far (many attempts made) but not sure how useful it will be.

• Generating scriptaculous ajax.autocompleter on the fly

  I have a form where the user can dynamically add a new table row with fields. I'm using a simple insertCell/InsertRow with innerHTML to generate the new row. One of those form fields is using scriptaculous' ajax.autocompleter. I have it generating new IDs for all the elements, but it is still not working The new row generated by js has the same source as the initial row of the form that loads at run time, however it does not appear to be calling the autocomplete function. I think my problem lies in that I don't understand when/how the "new Ajax.Autocompleter" is called. Is it not possible to use ajax.autocompleter like this? TIA

• Windows Forms Autosizing in .NET

  My C# project contains a form. There are some controls across the top of the form and some controls across the bottom of the form, as well as a FlowLayoutPanel in the center, all of which have been placed with the Visual Studio Form Designer. During runtime, controls are dynamically added to and removed from the FlowLayoutPanel, and both the panel and the form itself are configured to automatically fit the size of they're contents. However, since some controls were placed with the designer above and below the FlowLayoutPanel, the desired resizing fails to take place when new controls are added to the FlowLayoutPanel. Does anybody know of a convenient remedy for this problem?

• dlopen() with dependencies between libraries

  My program uses plugins, that are loaded dynamically with dlopen(). The locations of these plugins can be arbitrary, so they aren't necessarily in the library path. In some cases, one plugin needs to depend on another plugin. So if A and B are dynamic libraries, I'll first load A, then load B which uses symbols defined in A. My reading of the dlopen() documentation implies that if I specify RTLD_GLOBAL this should all work. But it doesn't. When I call dlopen() on the second library, it fails with an error saying it couldn't find the first one (which had already been loaded with dlopen()): Error loading library /usr/local/openmm/lib/plugins/libOpenMMRPMDOpenCL.dylib: dlopen(/usr/local/openmm/lib/plugins/libOpenMMRPMDOpenCL.dylib, 9): Library not loaded: libOpenMMOpenCL.dylib Referenced from: /usr/local/openmm/lib/plugins/libOpenMMRPMDOpenCL.dylib Reason: image not found How can I make this work?

• JavaScript: Reference a functions local scope as an object

  When I call a function, a local scope is erected for that call. Is there any way to directly reference that scope as an object? Just like window is a reference for the global scope object. Example: function test(foo){ var bar=1 //Now, can I access the object containing foo, bar, arguments and anything //else within the local scope like this: magicIdentifier.bar } Alternately, does anyone have a complete list of what is in the global scope on top of custom variables? Background: I'm trying to get down to a way of completely shifting to global scope from within a function call, the with statement is a joke, call works a little better, but it still breaks for anything declared in function scope but not in global scope, therefore I would declare these few cases in global scope, but that requires me to know what they are. The IE function execScript makes a complete shift, but that only solves the problem for IE. Note: To anyone loading JavaScript dynamically, setTimeout(code,1) is a simple effective hack to achieve global scope, but it will not execute immediately.

• JW Player: cross-browser "display:none" player behavior

  Is there a simple, upfront method to have FF and IE treat hidden JW Players the same? I am placing different instances of the player dynamically in jQuery generated tabs. In effect, switching tabs hides the parent div of each player. In FireFox, the tab switch and accompanying "display" change stops the player. This doesn't happen in IE. I would like it to. What is the easiest way to have both browsers act the same? I am hoping for a CSS/HTML solution, either thorough the way the players are embedded or a style rule Otherwise I suppose I will need to add an item listener that compares the currently selected tab id to currently active players... but I'd rather not go that route. Thanks for your tips! EDIT: So, I'd rather be able to change the player CSS or markup on tab change than send stop events to all the players but the player in the currently active tab.

  How can I use an IComponentActivator instance for a component, not just specifying a type. That is, instead of Component.For<XYZ>.Activator<MyComponentActivator>(); I want to be able say Component.For<XYZ>.Activator(new MyComponentActivator(someImportantRuntimeInfo)); Also, is there a way I can choose an activator dynamically for a non specifically registered component? That is, I want to have an activator that looks at the type being resolved, decides if it can activate it, and if not, responsibility for activation should be passed on to the default activator.   jCarousel documentation states the following: By passing the callback function itemLoadCallback as configuration option, you are able to dynamically create (li) items for the content. {...} jCarousel contains a convenience method add() that can be passed the index of the item to create and the innerHTML string of the item to be created. My Question: Is it possible to remove all items and rebind to a new collection? BTW: I don't necessarily need a "convenience method" to do this. I'm very open to workarounds. FYI: This strategy doesn't seem to work.
