  • Increment an index that uses numbers and characters

    I have a string based code that can be either two or three characters in length and I am looking for some help in creating a function that will increment it. Each 'digit' of the code has a value of 0 to 9 and A to Z. some examples: the first code in the sequence is 000 009 - next code is - 00A 00D - next code is - 00E AAZ - next code is - AB0 the last code is ZZZ. Hope this makes some sense.

I am cool with all the part except issuing the "is_published" restriction when counting Awards. I hope this is clear; can anyone just suggest where to dig?

I'm considering a separate tool application to be written in C# which would contain winform-based dialogs. putting some of those dialogs in a separate DLL would be useful as I'd hope to be able to use them from my C++ app. But I have no idea how much messing about is needed to accomplish this, is it particularly easy?

    In Visual Studio 2008 I know its possible to have one solution with two (or more) projects. Is it possible OR How is it possible for the projects to share common class files? For example - Project 1 has a log file handling class. Can Project 2 reference it? My hope is to increase code re-use and avoid two copies of the same thing that need to be maintained. The target is Winforms C# (3.5)

    None of the scribe examples I've seen actually mention the best way to take logs/logfiles and send them to scribe. I could configure a logrotate script that has a postrotate section that "cats" the rotated file to scribe (but then I get minutes latency at best). The other option is to keep a "tail -f= | my_scribe_sender" and hope that the process never gets killed. However then you really can't guarantee that you're not missing/duplicating data.

    I hope this code explains the problem: class Foo { void a() { / *stuff */ } } class Bar extends Foo { void a() { throw new Exception("This is not allowed for Bar"); } class Baz { void blah() { // how to access Foo.a from here? } } } I know that I may be doing something wrong, because inheritance perhaps shouldn't be used in such way.     Hi guys, Just wondering if you could help wanting to produce an activity stream in Java, the idea was to have a JLabel and text area followed by a divider be displayed on a screen and then repeated X amount of times according to what data was in a database. What I was wondering is how could I possibly repeat the placing the jlabel, text area, and diveder on the screen above the last rendered objects on the fly and all displayed correctly no matter the size of the text area of each set of object sort of like the image below.
