  • Deny to administrators to change network configuration settings

    I need to provide admin rights to every user but the users should not able to change network configuration settings. For this I have enabled following policies in User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Network\Network connections Enable Windows 2000 network connection settings for administrators Prohibit access to properties of a LAN connection Prohibit access to properties of components a LAN connection Users (that exist in administrators) still can change the LAN properties. Are there any other solutions?

  • Can't change Firefox menu background color using userChrome.css on Windows 7

    I can't change Firefox's menu background color using userChrome.css on Windows 7. menubar, menubutton, menulist, menu, menuitem { color: red !important; background-color: orange !important; } This seems to work as the menubar changes to red and orange. But the background-color on the actual drop down menu stays the same (that Windows 7 menu look), although the text color does change to red. Any ideas??

  • Blank displays after inactivity, mouse cursor not showing up

    I have a Windows 7 Enterprise x86 machine that is exhibiting some strange problems. After some inactivity (it varies how long it takes), when I come back to my computer, both of my monitors are black. The monitors are on, with a black display. Moving the mouse and pressing keys on the keyboard do not work. This happens at least once a day. When I first encountered the issue, I performed a hard shutdown and restarted the computer. About 10% of the time when I did this, the resolutions on my monitors were messed up. The native resolution on the primary monitor is 1600x900, and the native on my secondary is 1440x900. None of the widescreen resolutions would be present in the display properties. I had 800x600, 1024x768, and 1280x1024. As a workaround to this issue, I've found that if I plug in my secondary monitor as the primary monitor, and leave the secondary unplugged, then Windows will start in 1024x768 on the secondary. Then, I can use Windows 7's "Detect" feature and it finds the 1440x900 resolution, and sets it. Then I have to connect the primary monitor to the secondary port and set it as the primary. Then I can switch the two cables, putting the primary into the primary, the secondary into the secondary. Then use the "Detect" feature again, and it finds the correct resolutions. Some time after performing the above, I discovered that when the screens were blanked, I could simply press "Control+Alt+Delete", type in my password, and everything comes up fine - except my mouse cursor. All applications and features work as intended, except there is no mouse cursor (the mouse actually works though...). I have the "Show location of pointer when I press CTRL key" option selected, so I can press CTRL and use my mouse as normal - but I have no actual cursor. When the computer is in this state, UAC is also not functional. Whenever a UAC prompt appears, the screens go black (the original symptoms) and I have to press Escape to exit UAC. Because of the above symptoms (the UAC black screen thing, etc) I beleive winlogon.exe may be the culprit. However, I have no idea how to fix it. I am unable to restart winlogon.exe due to the problems I am having with winlogon.exe (the UAC black screen) Looking for any ideas.... More information Windows 7 x86 Enterprise Domain environment (I have a secondary account with administrator rights) Dell Optiplex 960 Cannot perform "optional" windows updates due to an activation issue (I am testing a windows 7 image, and an activation infrastructure has not been created yet. However, this issue was happening before I was unable to perform windows update, and windows was up to date at the time Updated video card driver (as an attempt to fixing the resolution issue) Disabled all power saving options Please let me know what else you need to help me solve this issue! I would like to change the foreground color of the irssi statusbars to black but can't figure out how to do it. I don't want to download a whole theme, I only want to change this one color. Any idea?   • iPhone - ModalViewController not raising to top of the screen

    Hello, I have a UIImagePickerController that is shown [self presentModalViewController:self.picker animated:NO]; Then later on the code, I allow the user to display a preference panel : PreferencesController *nextWindow = [[[PreferencesController alloc] initWithNibName:@"Preferences" bundle:nil] autorelease]; UINavigationController* navController = [[[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController:nextWindow] autorelease]; [self presentModalViewController:navController animated:YES]; At this point, the new controller raises on the screen, but don't go to the top. Some space is left "transparent" at the top (I can see the camera view behind), and the bottom of the view is hidden out of the screen. The space I am talking about is about a status bar height. The status bar is not present on the screen. The navigation controller is hidden : self.navigationController.navigationBarHidden = YES; There is a toolbar at the top of the view. Nothing special into the view. The height of the view is defined at 480. All simulated element are set off in IB. The autoresize properties are all set on. I had a previous xib (I rebuilt it from scratch) that worked very well. I don't see what I missed on this one (I have only changed the xib, that replaces the previous one). I've cleaned the cache to be sure there was nothing left. No change... I've deleted everything in the new view to prevent some conflicts. No change... What did I miss ? How could I remove this empty space ?

  • Vertical Image Border Changes Alignment when Screen is not maximized

    I have some pretty straightforward HTML code with a few tables to organize various items of text or images. All works fine except that I need to place a vertical border on both the left and right sides of the screen. I am able to do this with a 2x2 pixel image that I stretch out. When the user has their screen maximized, everything looks great. But when the user hits "Restore Down", then the borders stay in place, but the tables get shoved down so that they start below where the borders end, which is off screen. in other words, the relational alignment between the borders and the tables gets all screwed up. Does anybody know how to make this alignment stay consistent on a restore down? I'm pretty much a newbie with html and asp, so speak slowly. If there is a better method to accomplish this, I'm all ears. Thanks. While I've been digging, I can't seem to work out where exactly the shortcuts to windows modern UI apps are stored. With my classic desktop applications they are in C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs. The modern UI stuff dosen't turn up though. Where are the shortcuts to the modern UI apps stored so that the start screen can find them?

  • Screen capture doesn't work on MFC application in Vista

    We've got some in-house applications built in MFC, with OpenGL drawing routines. They all use the same code to draw on the screen and either print the screen or save it to a JPEG file. Everything's been working fine in Windows XP, and I need to find a way to make them work on Vista. In three of our applications, everything works. In the remaining one, I can get the window border, title bar, menus, and task bar, but the interior never shows up. As I said, these applications use the exact same code to write to the screen and capture the window image, and the only difference I see that looks like it might be relevant is that the problem application uses the MFC multiple document interface, while the ones that work use the single document interface. Either the answer isn't on the net, or I'm worse at Googling than I thought. I asked on the MSDN forums, and the only practical suggestion I got was to use GDI+ rather than GDI, and that did nothing different. I have tried different things with every part of the code that captures and prints or save, given a pointer to the window, so apparently it's a matter of the window itself. I haven't rebuilt the offending application using SDI yet, and I really don't have any other ideas. Has anybody seen anything like this?

  • Anchor HTML DIV tag to right of screen

    Hello, I have a site that has 2 DIV tags, one floats left the other floats right. The left DIV contains text for the page, the other DIV is used to display a video. When I have text in the left DIV that fits the entire width of the screen the video shows up where I want it. However, a few pages have very little text and cause the video to show up in the right-center of the screen. I want to anchor this DIV to the right of the screen regardless of how much text is shown. I don't seem to get this problem in lower resolutions, it occurs more in the higher resolutions (such as 1280x1024).     Hi there. what i am trying to do is to play a full screen(1024x768) animation on ipad with an fps of around 20. i have got a scene with 1800 full screen frames. till now i have tried a lot of approaches but have encountered a lot of problems. my first approach was to get the texture using the following function t = [[CCTexture2D alloc] initWithImage:[UIImage imageWithContentsOfFile:[[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"(%d)",startIndex] ofType:type]]]; give it to sprite by using setTexture method and then release the texture then create a new texture with next frame and repeat the procedure but by using this approach i only get an FPS of about 7. my second approach was to preload about 10 textures in texturecache save them in an array and give them to sprite using setTexture and on the back end i am replacing the old textures with the new texture in a thread but the problem i face is that creating new texture and adding to array takes some time and when the settexture method is called the sprite displays the old texture because the new one is not loaded yet but after some time new texture get loaded. Is there any way i can run a full screen animation on ipad at around 20 fps plesae help me out. Thanks Farhan

    My laptop has a slightly damaged lcd - it has a black strip on the right that reduces the working resolution from 1400x1050 to about 1375x1050 - thus hiding part of the right edge of the desktop, windows, or the mouse pointer should it be unwise enough to stray there. Is there a way in linux to crop the monitor output so as to keep the screen inside the working area of the monitor? edit: this is the same question as Limit video output to a section of a display and leave the rest blank

    I work on another guy's code, and I try to change the table cell background color when mouse over the cell, and change back to the original background color when mouse leave. I use the following code: var bgcolor=$(".cell-el").css("background-color") $(".cell-el").hover( function(){ $(this).css("background-color", "#3c3c36")}, //mouse enter, bg-color change function(){ $(this).css("background-color", bgcolor) // mouse leave, bg-color change back }) Things are working fine, EXCEPT that when mouse first time enter the cell, the cell background color is not changed to "#3c3c36", but when mouse leave the cell after first entering and enter in the cell again, the cell's background color changed to "#3c3c36". That's the cell color never change for mouse first enter, after that, everything is working great. What's could be the cause of this problem?
