  I've installed IIS on Windows 7(Ultimate) by going to control paneladd/remove features/ then checking the IIS. How do I access something like a preference editor like in wamp server. In wamp server I go to http://localhost/phpmyadmin. And accessing the pages I made in http://localhost/pages/ What about in IIS? How do I access something like phpmyadmin. And how do I access the webpages that I made. This is only for educational purposes. And I do not need a site to be accessible on the net. • Access Linux Samba-Share from Snow Leopard

  Hello there! I have a linux machine with a samba-share. Other windows machines can access that samba-share no problem. Now I have a new MacBook running Snow Leopard and I have no clue on how to access it. In finder it shows the linux-machine, but I have no idea how to access it. In some blog it said that this: `smbclient -U <username> -L <hostname>` can be used to list samba-shares. When I do it, I get `session setup failed: NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE` I am at a loss here. Any help on how to approach that problem would be appreciated. Can you provide some hints or point me to some good howto?

  Well, this is quite trivial question but I could not find a satisfactory answer even after trying many search queries both here and on Google. I want to share my PC with my room-mate. And I don't want him to access ANY network(LAN included). So, I can create an account for him and block network access for the same. I would prefer avoiding any third-party tools as far as possible. It's a simple home PC hooked up to a router for internet. No domain and other stuff. (Technically, guest account can achieve this. But somehow, the guest account on my PC has network access!)

• Squid3 not working. Access denied

  I installed SQUID3 on a Linux machine with two ethernet interfaces (eth0 and eth1). I used the default settings in the squid.conf file and uncommented the two lines acl localnet src 192.168.0.0/16 and http_access allow localnet. eth0 is connected to a router, which provides Internet access. It is assigned an IP 192.168.1.2 by the router. I manually configured eth1 to have an IP address 192.168.5.1. It is connected to a switch. Systems having IP addresses 192.168.5.x are connected to this switch. I ran these two commands for NAT: iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -i eth1 -p tcp -m tcp --dport 80 -j DNAT --to-destination 192.168.5.1:3128 iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -i eth0 -p tcp -m tcp --dport 80 -j REDIRECT --to-ports 3128 But when I try to access internet from a system having IP 192.168.5.2 through the proxy I get an error that says "Access denied". What is wrong with my configuration?

• Windows Network copy and access denied randomly

  I have a windows 2008 R2 server and I now installed a new bigger HDD into it. I wanted to copy big AVI files to the new server hdd what is shared on the local network. I have write access to the servers hdd and I can successfully copy smaller files to it. But when I copy bigger files more than 500MB randomly on the copy I get Access Deny message. If I use RDP I can copy files through RDP client. I checked error messages at the server but I didn't found any error about this access deny. Because of RDP copy works I don't think that this could be hardware error. I think this is some kind of software setting error. Someone has faced this kind of error? Or somebody has idea what could cause or how to find the root of the problem?

  I have a few private files in a public folder and I want to block access to them. For example lets say I have the following files tree: DictA FileA FileA FileB FileC I want to block access to FileB and FileA in the current directory and allow access to the FileA in the DictA directory. The first thing that came to mind was to use the FilesMatch directive as follows: <FilesMatch "^(?:FileA)|(?:FileB)$"> Deny from all </FilesMatch> The problem here is that FileA inside DictA will also be blocked, which is not what I wanted. I could override that by adding another .htaccess file to DictA but I would like to know if there is a solution which wont involve that. P.S: I can't move the private files to a separate folder.

• Access server bound to localhost:5000 from different computer

  I am working on a web application using the Pylons framework. The web server is binding to localhost:5000 so I am able to access my application by going to localhost:5000 in my browser. I would like to be able to access the server from another computer on the same network. The computer that is hosting the server and application is running Mac OSX and the computer I would like to be able to access the application is running Windows 7 (I have cygwin with SSH installed as well as PuTTY). I could work around this by binding to the host name of the computer but would rather leave it running only on localhost. I was thinking I could do something with SSH tunneling but have not had any luck so far. Any ideas?

  What is the minimum rights required to access the Users directory on another computer via an admin share? I have a batch file that writes some information to a few other computers using a path of \\%COMPUTERNAME%\c$\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming. The batch files run under an unprivileged user (part of Domain Users only). How do I set appropriate rights so that service account can access the AppData\Roaming folder for every user on another computer? I'd like to give rights lower than Local Admin, which I know will work. Things I've attempted: As Domain Admin, attempted to give Modify rights to the C:\Users\ directory on the local computer. Error: Access Denied. Set the service account as Local Admin on the other computer. This works, but is against IT policy where I work. I'd like to accomplish this with rights lower than Local Admin. Any suggestions?

  I have an Ubuntu Server 12 virtualbox guest running on a Windows 7 host which has a dynamic IP (and I don't wanna change this considering it's a laptop and I'm changing network frenquently). I want to have a static IP for my VM and a SSH access from my host but I still want to have the internet access on my VM. I tried added a second host only adapter and configured /etc/network/interface to set eth1 to a static ip, but I can't connect via SSH to it. Setting only adapter1 to host only works for SSH and static IP but I lose the internet access.

• Web application access different between Domain Name and IP

  in our office, we have a web application running. When we access the application by the domain name, http://server.domain.com/application/name it will display the current version of application. However, when we go by the IP address, http://192.168.1.111/application/name it will display the old version of that application. One thing is that we can access that application either by http://server.domain.com/ (it will be redirected to the long URL automatically) or http://server.domain.com/application/name when we are using domain name. But only accessible via the exact URL when we use IP address. Why is it showing the old version and how can it be corrected? It is running JRun4, Apache on Red hat. I've checked in httpd.conf a bit but could not find any. Please advice what should be done to display the same (updated version) when we access using domain name or IP address. Thank you.

• How to secure a VM while allowing customer RDS (or equivalent) access to its desktop

  We have a Windows Client/(SQL-)Server application which is normally installed at the customer's premises. We now need to provide a hosted solution, and browser-based isn't feasible in the short term. We're considering hosting the database ourselves, and also hosting the client in a VM. We can set all this up easily enough, so we need to: ensure that the customer can connect easily, and also ensure that we suitably restrict access to the VM (and its host, of course) We already access the host and guest machines across the internet via RDS, but we restrict access to it to only our own internal, very small, set of static IPs, and of course theres the 2 (or 3?)-user limit on RDS connections to a remote server. So I'd greatly appreciate ideas on how to manage: the security the multi-user aspect. We're hoping to be able to do this initially without a large investment in virtualisation infrastructure - it would be one customer only to start with, with perhaps two remote users. Thanks!

  I recently encountered a customer environment in which they had failover cluster where one of the virtual nodes had more than one 'Client Access Name' (i.e. more than one IP address and DNS name for the single virtual node). Long story short we had to modify our software to deal with this situation, but we want to recreate the situation in house to test it before releasing. I have been unable to locate any information about how or why you would end up with a virtual node that has more than one access name. Does anyone know how I can set up a Windows failover cluster where a virtual node has more than one access name/IP?

• Hyper-V Manager - Host Access During a Catastrophe

  How can I ensure that I can always have Hyper-V Manager access to a Hyper-V server, even in the event that the Active Directory Server is down (in a domain-login environment)? Background: The one that came before me, set up the company's servers as virtual machines on top of a host running Hyper-V Server 6.1 (7601) Service Pack 1. For managing Hyper-V, he installed Window 7 onto a virtual machine (run on the same host) with Hyper-V Manager installed. When the (virtual) Active Directory server (run on this same host) is rebooted, during that reboot, I'm unable to RDP into the Windows 7 virtual machine, and I'm therefore unable to access Hyper-V Manager when the Active Directory server is down. I suspect I can't login because I can't authenticate with the Active Directory Server. I'm going to install Hyper-V Manger onto some addition manager's workstations, but how can I ensure they'll have access in a catastrophe where Active Directory authentication isn't possible?

  I have a server with win7 and a big share on C:\share In this share there are many symbolic links to files on other local disks like C:\share\file.txt(symlink) <- D:\file.txt I can access the file over: C:\share\file.txt \server\share\file.txt but if I try to access from an other pc I can't open the file. I'm able to delete, rename ... the link but it seems that the symbolic link isn't processed by the server. Can I change something with cifs to make this work? I already checked the acls of the link and the file and set them to allow everybody everything. I also can access the file with d$. Hope there is a solution...

• Access to certain files but not others

  Hoping someone can help me as I have, thus far, been unable to solve the issue. I am running a media center utilizing Ubuntu 12.04. I was initially successful accessing media files from the desktop running Ubuntu via my Windows 7 laptop and Roku device. I started backing up a new batch of DVD's I had (into MKV files, like everything else in my media folders) and noticed I cannot access the new files from either the Roku or the laptop. I have not changed any settings in the media folder and verified the shared permissions. The parent folder (Media) is shared (with permission flow-down) while the subfolders (Movies, TV Shows, Music) are not. I have changed the permissions on this to include shared when the access problem arose but with no success. I can only access the original files uploaded an not new files added. Any suggestions???   hi, i'm trying to repair my windows xp and it fails to reboot (bad sector or something). i'm using my dell recovery disk and then select the "Repair" option which takes me to the command line application when i can browse my files and folders (like with cmd.exe). however, when i'm trying to access the "Documents and settings" folder, it gives me access denied. is there any way to override it? is there any other way to access my documents and settings through other method? I'm just trying to recover some files and copy them to another drive on my computer and then reinstall my winxp. Thanks for the help

  Hope someone is able to help me. :) I have 4 domains registered, and all of them are using the same server. That means, they have the same IP-Address. Thats okay, but at the moment it is possible to access the plesk using ":8443" with all domains. But I would like to permit access to plesk only for 1 domain! That means, if enter: "https:// domainexample1:8443" it should allow the access to plesk. If I enter: "https:// domainexample2:8443" it should forbid.   I wrote a program to demonstrate the behavior of DTC timeouts with multiple threads. I'm getting several exceptions, seemingly at random. Are all of these simple Timeouts, or are some of them indicative of deeper problems (connection pool interactions, etc)? The Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator (MS DTC) has cancelled the distributed transaction. Distributed transaction completed. Either enlist this session in a new transaction or the NULL transaction. The transaction associated with the current connection has completed but has not been disposed. The transaction must be disposed before the connection can be used to execute SQL statements. The operation is not valid for the state of the transaction. ExecuteReader requires an open and available Connection. The connection's current state is closed. Naturally VB.NET variables will be used in place of the SQL local variables. My problem is this: All of the conditions after "WHERE" are optional. In that a query might be made that uses one, some, all, or none of the conditions. V.PropertyID and V.Value can also appear any number of times. In VB.NET I can make this query easy enough by simply concatenating strings, and using a loop to append the "V.PropertyID/V.Value" conditions. I can also make a Stored Procedure in MS SQL, which is easy enough. However, I want to accomplish this using LINQ. If anyone could direct me, I would be most appreciative.

• MS Surface Tag Visualizer steals contact events

  I'm struggling with the TagVisualizer control on an MS Surface project. In theory the control seems great, allowing you to respond to input from real world physical objects The problem is that the control will cover the entire screen (since I want to capture tags on the entire screen) and as such, no other controls in my app will receive the touch events. (Unless, they are direct ascendants in the visual tree). In my app, I want to have a "layer" type of a approach, where each layer can respond to (contact) input: Window `- Grid `- LayersPanel `- TagVisualizer `- Layer 1 `- Layer 2 `- Layer 3 `- Layer 4 Now it doesn't matter where I put the tag visualizer, it's always going to steal contact events from all or some of the other layers. (due to the nature of RoutedEvents) To me, it seems like the control is completely useless in practice as it will always interfere with your application's other controls. What am I missing here? So my questions are: Any suggestions on how to work around this? Has anyone used TagVisualizers in a similar scenario? If so, how did you solve this? By the way, the layers all work fine, since they will only steal events that are directly on top of their sub elements (the rest of the layer is invisible to hit testing)

• Alternative to MS Project 2007 for production scheduling?

  OK... Im coming to grips with the fact that MS Project 2007 may not be the correct tool for my production scheduling. We serve 120 to 150 projects a year with durations from 6 weeks to 12 months. The task are simple (6 to 8 per project) and the resource pool is stable (15 to 20 people). It's really an assembly line product but with extremely varied durations. I need to be able to prioritize the projects for production and run projects concurrently to fully utilize my resources. What are the feelings of the stackoverflow community. Am I using the wrong program? I was really hoping to make this simple for non-programer types to input project data into a form and have the schedule software automated enough to make most of the decisions. Is there a better solution available commercially? I'd like to hold on writing a custom spreadsheet as a last resort but if that's the best route then so be it. Thank you so much for your input.

• Finding Common Phrases in MS SQL TEXT Column

  Hello All, Short Desc: I'm curious to see if I can use SQL Analysis services or some other MS SQL service to mine some data for me that will show commonalities between SQL TEXT fields in a dataset. Long Desc I am looking at a subset of data that consists of about 10,000 rows of TEXT blobs which are used as a notes column in a issue tracking (ticketing) software. I would like to use something out of the box (without having to build something) that might be able to parse through all of the rows and find commonly used byte sequences in the "Notes" column. In other words, I want to find commonly used phrases (two to three word phrases, so 9 - 20 character sections of the TEXT blob). This will help me better determine if associate's notes contain similar phrases (troubleshooting techniques) that we could standardize in our troubleshooting process flow. Closing Note I'd really rather not build an application to do this as my method will probably not be the most efficient way to do it. Hopefully all this makes sense. Please let me know in the comments if anything needs clarification. Thanks in advance for your help.
