• Making it GREAT! Oracle Partners Building Apps Workshop with UX and ADF in UK

  Yes, making is what it's all about. This time, Oracle Partners in the UK were making great looking usable apps with the Oracle Applications Development Framework (ADF) and user experience (UX) toolkit. And what an energy-packed and productive event at the Oracle UK, Thames Valley Park, location it was. Partners learned the fundamentals of enterprise applications UX, why it's important, all about visual design, how to wireframe designs, and then how to build their already-proven designs in ADF. There was a whole day on mobile apps, learning about mobile design principles, free mobile UX and ADF resources from Oracle, and then trying it out. The workshop wrapped up with the latest Release 7 simplified UIs, Mobilytics, and other innovations from Oracle, and a live demo of a very neat ADF Mobile Android app built by an Oracle contractor. And, what a fun two days both Grant Ronald of ADF and myself had in running the workshop with such a great audience, too! I particularly enjoyed the wireframing and visual design sessions interaction; and seeing some outstanding work done by partners. Of note from the UK workshop were innovative design features not seen before and made me all the happier that developers were bringing their own ideas from the consumer IT world of mobility, simplicity, and social to the world of work apps in a smart way within an enterprise methodology too.  Partner wireframe exercise. Applying mobile design principles and UX design patterns means you've already productively making great usable apps! Next, over to Oracle ADF Mobile with it! One simple example from the design of a mobile field service app was that participants immediately saw how the UX and device functionality of the super UK-based app Hailo app could influence their designs (the London cabbie influence maybe?), as well as how we all use maps, cameras, barcode scanners and microphones on our phones could be used in work. And, of course, ADF Mobile has the device integration solutions there too! I wonder will U.S. workshops in Silicon Valley see an Uber UX influence (LOL)! That we also had partners experienced with Oracle Forms who could now offer a roadmap from Forms to Simplified UI and Mobile using ADF, and do it through through the cloud, really made this particular workshop go "ZING!" for me. Many thanks to the Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN) team for organizing this event with us, and to the representatives of the Oracle Partners that showed and participated so well. • NSFetchedResultsController crashing on performFetch: when using a cache

  I make use of NSFetchedResultsController to display a bunch of objects, which are sectioned using dates. On a fresh install, it all works perfectly and the objects are displayed in the table view. However, it seems that when the app is relaunched I get a crash. I specify a cache when initialising the NSFetchedResultsController, and when I don't it works perfectly. You have illegally mutated the NSFetchedResultsController's fetch request, its predicate, or its sort descriptor without either disabling caching or using +deleteCacheWithName: *** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInternalInconsistencyException', reason: 'FATAL ERROR: The persistent cache of section information does not match the current configuration. You have illegally mutated the NSFetchedResultsController's fetch request, its predicate, or its sort descriptor without either disabling caching or using +deleteCacheWithName:' I really have no clue as to why it's saying that, as I don't believe I'm doing anything special that would cause this. The only potential issue is the section header (day), which I construct like this when creating a new object: // Set the new format [formatter setDateFormat:@"dd MMMM"]; // Set the day of the event [event setValue:[formatter stringFromDate:[event valueForKey:@"utc_start"]] forKey:@"day"]; Like I mentioned, all of this works fine if there is no cache involved. Any help appreciated!

  Hi There, i have a very simple table with a Datetime column and i have this mapping in my domain object. MyDate is the name of the datetime column in the DB. public virtual int Day { get; set; } public virtual int Month { get; set; } public virtual int Year { get; set; } public virtual int Hour { get; set; } public virtual int Minutes { get; set; } public virtual int Seconds { get;set; } public virtual int WeekNo { get; set; } Map(x => x.Day).Formula("DATEPART(day, Datetime)"); Map(x => x.Month).Formula("DATEPART(month, Datetime)"); Map(x => x.Year).Formula("DATEPART(year, Datetime)"); Map(x => x.Hour).Formula("DATEPART(hour, Datetime)"); Map(x => x.Minutes).Formula("DATEPART(minute, Datetime)"); Map(x => x.Seconds).Formula("DATEPART(second, Datetime)"); Map(x => x.WeekNo).Formula("DATEPART(week, Datetime)"); This is working all great .... but Week Datepart. I saw with NHProf the sql generating for a select and here's the problem it's generating all the sql correctly but for week datepart.. this is part of the SQL generated: ....Datepart(day, MyDate) ... ....Datepart(month, MyDate) ... ....Datepart(year, MyDate) ... ....Datepart(hour, MyDate) ... ....Datepart(minute, MyDate) ... ....Datepart(second, MyDate) ... ....Datepart(this_.week, MyDate) ... where this_ is the alias for the table that nhibernate uses. so it's treating the week keyword for the datepart stuff as a column or something like that. To clarify there's no column or properties that is called week. some help ? cheers Alessandro

The same happens to days and months but obviously it doesn't make any difference in this particular case as the values would start from 1 anyway. How can I fix this - and why does it happen?

  Hi Everyone, I have a date_select field in my rails application as follows: <%= f.date_select :dateinstructed %> I would like to re-order the drop down lists show they output as: DD/MM/YYYY According to what I have read you can use the :order option, but I am unsure how to actually use this option: <%= f.date_select :dateinstructed, :order = {:day, :month, :year} %> Obviously this isn't right, but what am I supposed to put in place of the: :day, :month, :year Any help would be appreciated! What I want to do is, by default every user's session cookie lasts for example 1 day, but every time user visits the site his session expiration time is extended by one more day.   Simple question, I think. I have org.springframework.scheduling.quartz.CronTriggerBean triggering one job once a day. Because this method can last a long time (over 24 hours), will the next day at the same time a new job be executed if the last one is not ended yet? If yes - is it possible to turn off executing new jobs until the last one is finished? My method is trans-coding videos and some days there a lot of videos and could last long.
