• Creating Slugs from Titles?

  I have everything in place to create slugs from titles, but there is one issue. My RegEx replaces spaces with hyphens. But when a user types "Hi     there" (multiple spaces) the slug ends up as "Hi-----there". When really it should be "Hi-there". Should I create the regular expression so that it only replaces a space when there is a character either side? Or is there an easier way to do this?

• trouble adding a rectange in actionscript

  I have a rectange that I've created and set its individual properties like so var aRect:Rect = new Rect(); aRect.x = 10; aRect.y = 10; aRect.width = "15%"; aRect.height = "15%"; addChild(aRect); I have 2 problems that the compiler seems to be choking on. The first is that the compiler chokes on 15% and "15%", with or without the quotes, neither works. The second is that adding the rectangle doesn't work. I tried all the following, but nothing works. addChild(aRect); Application.addChild(aRect); Application.application.addChild(aRect); stage.addChild(aRect); What's the deal, I thought actionscript would be nicer than mxml.

• Need help with regular expressions - URL redirection

  Hello everyone. I'm trying to redirect an easy to remember url to a php file but I'm having some trouble with the regex. Here's what I have at the moment: RewriteRule ^tcb/([a-zA-Z0-9]{1,})/([a-zA-Z0-9]{1,})/([a-zA-Z0-9]{1,}) /tcb/lerbd.php?autocarro=$1&tipo=$2&dsd=$3 It is working but only if I supply all 3 arguments. I want the last two arguments to be optional so it either works with only the first or all three. I'm hoping you can help me with this. Thank you very much.

• Removing repeated characters, including spaces, in one line

  I currently have a string, say $line='55.25040882, 3,,,,,,', that I want to remove all whitespace and repeated commas and periods from. Currently, I have: $line =~ s/[.,]{2,}//; $line =~ s/\s{1,}//; Which works, as I get '55.25040882,3', but when I try $line =~ s/[.,\s]{2,}//; It pulls out the ", " and leaves the ",,,,,,". I want to retain the first comma and just get rid of the whitespace. Is there a way to elegantly do this with one line of regex? Please let me know if I need to provide additional information.

• [Bash] Save part of matching pattern to variable

  I want to extract a substring matching a pattern and save it to a file. An example string: Apr 12 19:24:17 PC_NMG kernel: sd 11:0:0:0: [sdf] Attached SCSI removable disk I want to extract the part between the brackets, in this case []. I tried to do something like grep -e '[$subtext]' to save the text in the brackets to a variable. Of course it doesn't work, but I am looking for a way similar to this. It would be very elegant to include a variable in a regex like this. What can I do best? Thanks!

• Trouble installing R-2.15.2 on Fedora 14

  I need to install R-2.15.2, the latest version. I tried using blah> sudo yum install R to install R, but for whatever reason (maybe because it's an old version of Fedora?) my system thinks R version 13 is the most recent. So, I downloaded the .tar.gz file from R's site and used the following: blah> tar -xvf R-2.15.2.tar.gz This successfully unzipped the file. I then ran: blah> ./configure blah/R-2.15.2> ls ChangeLog COPYING Makeconf.in ONEWS src VERSION-NICK config.log doc Makefile.fw OONEWS SVN-REVISION config.site etc Makefile.in po tests configure INSTALL NEWS README tools configure.ac m4 NEWS.pdf share VERSION As you can see, makefiles are present. However, when I run "make" within the R folder, I get the following error: blah/R-2.15.2> make make: No targets specified and no makefile found. Stop. Is there any way I can fix this issue? I'm guessing people will recommend updating Fedora, but is there another way?

  Hi there! I'm using Jersey in a REST project and I'm needing to use regular expression. Digging about it is simple like: @Path("/resources) public class MyResource { @GET @Path("{subResources:.*}/bar") public String get() {...} } But, I'm only capable of using regex if in my @Path contains a variable or text value, example: @Path("{SubResource1}/{subResources:.*}/bar") Or @Path("hardCodeString/{subResources:.*}/bar") Today I could run with this solution of a variable, but is not oK for my perspective. Question Does anyone have worked with something related? I'm doing something wrong? I think that this could be a bug, when working with more then one @Path, one in the Class and other in the Method. Any tips is appreciated! Regards

• Trouble with Perfect Scrollbar jQuery

  I'm using the Perfect Scrollbar jQuery app (http://www.yuiazu.net/perfect-scrollbar/) for this site: http://thehummingbirdplace.com/ The scrollbar shows up when you hover over the News section, but it won't scroll down to reveal the content. I've used this scrollbar before successfully, so I'm stumped as to what is different now. I haven't been able to replicate this on a simpler page, when I experiment on another page it either works or just vanishes, so I'm not sure why it is successfully showing up, yet not scrolling on the main page. Any help would be appreciated!!

• Regex: Match opening/closing chars with spaces

  I'm trying to complete a regular expression that will pull out matches based on their opening and closing characters, the closest I've gotten is ^(\[\[)[a-zA-Z.-_]+(\]\]) Which will match a string such as "[[word1]]" and bring me back all the matches if there is more than one, The problem is I want it to pick up matchs where there may be a space in so for example "[[word1 word2]]", now this will work if I add a space into my pattern above however this pops up a problem that it will only get one match for my entire string so for example if I have a string "Hi [[Title]] [[Name]] [[surname]], How are you" then the match will be "[[Title]] [[Name]] [[surname]]" rather than 3 matches "[[Title]]", "[[Name]]", "[[surname]]". I'm sure I'm just a char or two away in the Regex but I'm stuck, How can I make it return the 3 matches. Thanks

  Running a project and was getting an error saying "Not enough actual parameters" The error is in "C:\Program Files\PBear\HTMLComponents\package\GDIPL2A.pas". The mistake pointed three times to "inherited Create;" lines 260,270 and 278 . In the file "GDIPL2A.pas".the Code is:- var err: integer; begin inherited Create; err := GdipCreateBitmapFromScan0(W, H, 0, PixelFormat32bppARGB, nil, fHandle); if err <> 0 then raise EGDIPlus.Create('Can''t create bitmap'); end; I was wondering why it would show an error in "THTML" files, WHICH ARE NOTHING BUT FILES FROM THE INSTALLATION of THTML.I did not even touch THTML files. Someone can figure out a regex? I have done something like that: +[^ ][^ ][^ ][^ ][^ ][^ ][^ ]"; but this works only with a specific word lenght. I need to modify to get any word of any leght. • Having trouble with Flash, Javascript and JQuery

  I'm using JQuery with the JQuery flash plugin (http://jquery.lukelutman.com/plugins/flash/) and trying to send a JS call back to the flash, I keep running into "xxx is not a function" so apparently something is off. I'm new to JQuery and very new to this jquery flash plugin and just can't quite wrap my head around what I am doing wrong. • iPhone: trouble with wrong credentials

  I am writing an iPhone App that uses a HTTPS/SOAP service which needs user credentials. After I change the password used for these credentials from a valid to an invalid one I still get a valid response from the service, as if the password was never changed. When I restart the app (with the invalid password) the app immediately receives the expected '401' message. Any hints what I might left out to code? Thx :)

• Trouble understanding the semantics of volatile in Java

  I've been reading up about the use of volatile variables in Java. I understand that they ensure instant visibility of their latest updates to all the threads running in the system on different cores/processors. However no atomicity of the operations that caused these updates is ensured. I see the following literature being used frequently A write to a volatile field happens-before every read of that same field . This is where I am a little confused. Here's a snippet of code which should help me better explain my query. volatile int x = 0; volatile int y = 0; Thread-0: | Thread-1: | if (x==1) { | if (y==1) { return false; | return false; } else { | } else { y=1; | x=1; return true; | return true; } | } Since x & y are both volatile, we have the following happens-before edges between the write of y in Thread-0 and read of y in Thread-1 between the write of x in Thread-1 and read of x in Thread-0 Does this imply that, at any point of time, only one of the threads can be in its 'else' block(since a write would happen before the read)? It may well be possible that Thread-0 starts, loads x, finds it value as 0 and right before it is about to write y in the else-block, there's a context switch to Thread-1 which loads y finds it value as 0 and thus enters the else-block too. Does volatile guard against such context switches (seems very unlikely)?

It'll contain both characters with int or decimal numbers eg A12B32.25C-456D-75.E75 I'll know that this will start with A and ends with E I think I can use "^" and "$" right? but i'm bit lost in other parts to check for character and int or decimal.   I spent like three hours trying to understant how does "(?<!^)(?=[A-Z])" works to split at tring according to capital letters i.e. string[] s = Regex.Split("TheWorldWithoutStrangers", "(?<!^)(?=[A-Z])"); How does it work !! I do understand what is the meaning of each char in the above expression, but I do not get how does it work together. why "(? < !^)([A-Z])" doesnot work ? it means that whenever you find a captial letter that is not after a new line, then split, am I right ?

• Having trouble deleting a node from a linked list

  I've been working on this code for my shell that I'm creating and for some reason it isn't working. I'm implementing a watchuser function that watch's a user when an argument is given (args[1]). The adding works, but this remove function won't and I'm not sure why. The print statements are there just to make sure it's executing the condition, which it is. If anyone could help me find the reasoning behind my error, I'd greatly appreciate it. Till then, I'll be trying to debug this. Thanks.

  I'm making script that fades 3 pictures out in order, but the pictures' opacity aren't changing. The if statements are reached but the pictures do not change.
