  Hi All, I am setting up a Continuous Integration server. I have one issue that doesn't seem to be mentioned in the tutorials. I have a ASP.net Web Application that I need to compile and them publish. My Problem is that I seem to be able to compile the app but when I attempt to use a buildPublisher this copies every thing including .svn files & folders and ms CS files. I am using an MSBuild task to compile my source. I tried setting my MSBuild Output Directory to directory but this didn't seem to have any effect. What am I not understanding? Thanks

• How to set ItemsSource?

  This dialog makes no sense to me And I'm having trouble finding good tutorials on it. Most of the examples aren't detailed enough, or do stuff via code, but I'd like to take advantage of the IDE as much as possible. Whats the difference between ItemsSource and DataContext? I'd like to bind it to just a List for starters. I don't need SQL or databases or anything fancy. Where would I declare my list? In MainWindow.xaml.cs? How do I get it to appear in that dialog?

  Say you have an ASP.NET MVC project and are using a service layer, such as in this contact manager tutorial on the asp.net site: http://www.asp.net/mvc/tutorials/iteration-4-make-the-application-loosely-coupled-cs If you have viewmodels for your views, is the service layer the appropriate place to provide each viewmodel? For instance, in the service layer code sample there is a method public IEnumerable<Contact> ListContacts() { return _repository.ListContacts(); } If instead you wanted a IEnumerable, should it go in the service layer, or is there somewhere else that is the "correct" place? Perhaps more appropriately, if you have a separate viewmodel for each view associated with ContactController, should ContactManagerService have a separate method to return each viewmodel? If the service layer is not the proper place, where should viewmodel objects be initialized for use by the controller?

• Actionscript / Flex: a question about handleAllEvents() method.

  Hi, in Adobe tutorials, they suggest to create a class to handle the events (see below the copy/pasted code, and link to page). • Compiling error with API 10

  I was following the basic tutorials on developers.android.com and came by creating the activity named DisplayMessageActivity. It is a blank activity with all the specifications given as shown in the tutorial. FYI, I am using Min SDK = API 8, Target SDK = API 16, Compile with = API 10 The next thing is that there are two errors: "The method getActionBar() is undefined for the type DisplayMessageActivity "home cannot be resolved or is not a field" I tried changing the API to 14 which called for another problem, it wants the minimum API to be 11. That solves these problems, but the main problem is so many devices still use Gingerbread or maybe FroYo. Can't I write for them? Do I have to go higher? How to write for them?

• How do I display and calculate numbers from a database on iPhone?

  I am new to designing apps and have a basic understand of Ob-C and how everything works. What I would like to do is have two tabs, one is a home screen that displays numbers and percentages that are entered on the second tab. The user will be able to store that information and refer back to it and update it. What is the best way to complete that math from the database to the "home screen"? Any tutorials, advice is great! • recommend a server side technology for gwt (beginner)

  hi all ! I am developing a gwt project and am looking for an appropriate server side technology. it should support be open source and support user login (and not using openID...) with password recovery etc it seems that the de-facto standard would be spring + hibernate. however, I am unfamiliar with neither of them and understand that the learning curve (especially for spring) is very high. gwt was quite easy to learn using GOOG's excellent online tutorials but the spring equivalent seem to impose lots of configuration files and deeper understanding of its internals. so I am looking for a simpler server side technology to deploy my gwt app. I am definitely prepared to learn a new framework if necessary but not something that would take me 2 months just to understand the fundamentals... any ideas...?

  I have a very annoying issue and I would love a solution. The problem: I followed the MDSN tutorial- http://www.asp.net/mvc/tutorials/mvc-4/getting-started-with-aspnet-mvc4/adding-a-model Then I tried this guide according to my needs and I set up a database GAMES.MDF.   Then, I deleted the database and set it up again, is supposedly work (I can write and read data), but There is no such database in the APP_DATA folder. Like it keeps it somewhere in my PC and reuse it.   I even tried a new project and it did not work, works but not in the library, and it even uses the data I created before. I even deleted the DB from SQL Server Management Studio 2008. Does anyone know what the hell? How do I delete it permanently, not to remain any trace of him?   Thank you.  Ido

• How to create a nested form in backbone relational?

  I would like to be able to create nested models at the same time in backbone. I know how to use backbone relational to create the parent model. Then once it is saved, I can create child models through backbone relational. However, I want to be able to create both the parent and child models at the same time, which might not be possible because I can only create the child model once the parent model has already been created. For example, let's say I was creating a forum like the one from the awesome backbone relational tutorial - http://antoviaque.org/docs/tutorials/backbone-relational-tutorial/. I would want to create a thread and a message at the same time(through the click of a single button) rather than create a thread then a message. Is this possible? Is there a better way of doing this that I'm not thinking of?

  Hi, ok, I managed to read from xml file using NSXMLParser but now i don't know how to write to xml file. I have a xml file , say <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <root> <user id="abcd" password="pass1"/> <user id="efg" password="pass2"/> </root> Now when a new user enters details, I want to store them in a new tag.. lets say like, the id is "hhhh" and password is"pass3" I want to add a new tag with attributes as such <user id="hhhh" password="pass3"/> to the xml file. How should I do this. Please explain in an elaborate way . I am a newbie here. Any links to tutorials or examples will be much helpful. Thanks

• Rails 3 namespacing requires model to be defined twice?

  I'm pulling my hair out trying to understand namespacing in Rails 3. I've tried following a few different tutorials, and the only way I can get my models to work is if I define my model in both the base directory and my namespace directory. If I only define the model in the namespace directory it expects it to define both Model and Namespace::Model, as below: LoadError (Expected .../app/models/plugins/chat.rb to define Chat): or LoadError (Expected .../app/models/plugins/chat.rb to define Plugins::Chat): I'm sure I'm missing something obvious, but I could really use a pointer in the right direction.   I am looking for TDD resources that are specific to Rails. I've seen the Rails Guide: The Basics of Creating a Rails Plugin which really spurred my interest in the topic. I have the Agile Development with Rails book and I see there's some testing-related information there. However, it seems like the author takes you through the steps of building the app, then adds testing afterward. This isn't really Test Driven Development. Ideally, I'd like a book on this, but a collection of other tutorials or articles would be great if such a book doesn't exist. Things I'd like to learn: Primary goal: Best Practices Unit testing How to utilize Fixtures Possibly using existing development data in place of fixtures What's the community standard here? Writing tests for plugins Testing with session data User is logged in User can access URL /foo/bar Testing success of sending email Thanks for any help!

  Hi, I'm pretty new to android, and just finished setup my environment and reading some tutorials. Then I got sdk samples from the web. Okay, what I wanna ask you is that is there a way to start a sample as a project in the Eclipse? I mean like clicking a project file in c# or a solution file. Here is my folder which I unzipped the code, \android-sdk-windows\samples\android-8\NotePad There are three folders and one file in the folder, \res, \src, \tests, and AndroidManifest.xml Or, do I need to make a new android project and import (or add files? maybe) them?   I have a question about the following architecture. I am importing my business objects into my client using WCF. Due to the complexity of the business objects ( nested hierarchies ) I want to flatten out my business objects into a dataset/datatable. There are many more tutorials and how-to on successfully using datatables in a report than with a business object so I am pretty attached to this idea. My question is what sort of DataSet should I use? Strongly typed or not? If strongly typed how do I import my business objects into the Datatables?

  hi guys, i was wondering how could i deploy/make it into an installer for an app which is created using vs 2008 express. i know that the setup and deployment feature is only available via the full version of visual studio right?   Hi. I intend to make some software to be sold over internet. I've only created open-source before, so I have really no idea of how to protect it from being cracked and distributed as warez. Bearing in mind that I know like two programms that aren't either cracked or not really useful I decided that the only more or less reliable way may look like this: Connect to a server and provide licensing info and some sort of hardware summary info If everything is fine, the server returns some crucial missing parts of the program bound to that certain pc along with the usage limit of say 2 days That crucial stuff is not saved to hard drive, so it is downloaded every time the program starts, if the programm runs more than 2 days, data is downloaded again If the same info is used from different computers, suspend the customer account What do you think about this? It may seem a bit to restrictive, but I'd better make less sales at first then eventually see my precious killer app downloaded for free. Anyways, first I need some basic theory/tutorials/guides about how to ensure that user only uses a certain Java app if he has paid for it, so please suggest some. Thanks

  Sorry, this is probably a terrible question. I've JUST started learning python today. I've been reading a Byte of Python. Right now I have a project for Python that involves time. I can't find anything relating to time in Byte of Python, so I'll ask you: How can I run a block for a user specified amount of time and then break? For example (in some pseudo-code): time = int(raw_input('Enter the amount of seconds you want to run this: ')) while there is still time left: #run this block or even better: import sys time = sys.argv[1] while there is still time left: #run this block Thanks for any help. Also, additional online guides and tutorials would be much appreciated. I really like Byte of Python. Dive into Python can't quite hold my attention, though. I suppose I should suck it up and try harder to read that one.

• ASP MVC Creating Form Rows Dynamically

  Hi Guys, I haven't even attempted this yet and am creating this question for advice really. I have a strongly typed page which receives a form model composed of several components. It is to create a mitigating circumstance (MC) for a student at a university for my final year project. A MC can be composed of the initial problem, assessment extensions, and I use a multi select box to allow the user to select staff retrieved from the database which are able to view the MC once created. The thing is I feel that a student could be granted many assignment extensions for one problem. I am wander if it is possible to include a button/image on the form which when clicked will create a new assessment extension object, and duplicate the form components to set the values for the object? This would all need to occur without any page refreshes. Any advice, or links to good tutorials would be appreciated. I have so far been unable to find any suitable examples. Thanks, Jon

• Inner shadow issue in Illustrator CS5

  I gave a comp to my client that I did in Photoshop. I used an inner shadow but now have realized the in Illustrator CS5 I have no such "easy" filter. I have spent 2 days seaching the web, trying tutorials, etc. to no avail. Every tutorial seems to use text but I am not using text.   I am trying to jump from ASP Classic to asp.net. I have followed tutorials to get Entity Framework and LINQ to connect to my test database, but I am having difficulties figuring out ExecuteQuery(). I believe the problem is that I need an "entity class" for my database, but I can't figure out how to do it.   What design pattern might apply to logging? What is normally used in this type of situation? Any good tutorials? I am writing a client-server application using C89 and gcc 4.4.4. I now need to implement some logging feature that will display log messages on the screen as well as log to a file. However, I don't want to display all log messages (warning, error, critical, unrecoverable, debug, etc). Maybe I can set so that it will display just errors and nothing else. For example, the user might not be interested in the debug messages on the screen output.

• What happens if an asynchronous delegate call never returns?

In summary it uses WaitOne with a timeout to determine if the call does not return before the timeout expires. I also know that you should have an EndInvoke to match each BeginInvoke. So what happens if the wait timeout expires? We (presumably) DON'T want to call EndInvoke as that will block. The code can go on to do 'other things', but have we leaked anything? Is there some poor thread someplace blocked waiting for a return that's never going to happen? Have we leaked some memory where the result-that-will-never-return was going to be placed?

  Hi, I want to make 3d games for the iphone and with all this doubt about Unity and Apples new sdk agreement I'm wondering what the best way forward is? A lot of people recommend opengl es and point me in the direction of the open gl es bible and likewise, the problem is none of this actually talk about setting a game up i.e loading a character, scene , AI etc. Yet a lot of people are using Open GL es please could someone help me out, I really feel like I'm missing out on something.
