• Apache: How can i see my localhost on 192.168.1.101 from 192.168.1.102?

  Hi, I'm running Apache on Ubuntu. My IP address is 192.168.1.101 While http://localhost and http://192.168.1.101 work fine in my PC, I cannot access it from within my laptop using http://192.168.1.102 It's strange. I can ping 192.168.1.101 but I got "The connection has timed out." in browser. • Why is cell phone software still so primitive?

  I don't do mobile development, but it strikes me as odd that features like this aren't available by default on most phones: full text search: searches all address book contents, messages, anything else being a plus better call management: e.g. a rotating audio call log, meaning you always have the last N calls recorded for your listening pleasure later (your little girl just said her first "da-da" while you were on a business trip, you had a telephone job interview, you received complex instructions to do something etc.) bluetooth remote control (like e.g. anyRemote, but available by default on a bluetooth phone) no multitasking capabilities worth mentioning and in general no e.g. weekly software updates, making the phone much more usable (even if it had to be done over USB, rather than over the network). I'm sure I was dumbfounded by the lack or design of other features as well, but they don't come to mind right now. To clarify, I'm not talking about smartphones here: my plain, 2-year old phone has a CPU an order of magnitude faster than my first PC, about as much storage space and it's ridiculous how bad (slow, unwieldy) the software is and it's not one phone or one manufacturer. What keeps the (to me) obvious software functionality vacuum on a capable hardware platform from being filled up? Edit: I believe a clarification on the multitasking point might be beneficial. I'll use my phone as an example, although the point is much more general. The phone can multitask and in fact does: you can listen to music and do something else at the same time. On the other hand, the way the software has been designed makes multitasking next to useless. (Ditto with the external touch screen: it can take touch commands, but only one application makes use of it, and only with 3 commands.) To take the multitasking example to the extreme, if I plug my phone into my laptop and it registers as an external disk, it doesn't allow any kind of operation: messages, calling, calendar, everything out of reach, although I can receive a call. No "battery life" issue there: it's charging while connected. BTW, another example of design below the current state of the art: I don't see a phone on the horizon which will remember where in an audio or video file you were when you stopped listening/watching it last time (podcasts are a good use case). Simplistic rewind/fast forward functionality only aggravates the problem.

• Is there any "modern" text editor with command-line/minibuffer?

  A command line in a text editor is a wonderful feature. It allows the user to explore the editor's functionality and learn it's shortcuts in a textual way. It's much faster than using the mouse, and it is much easier to memorise "shortcuts" this way. Emacs and VI provide this, though, emacs and vi are not "modern". By "modern", I mean one that is original built to cope with the modern de-facto standards of selecting, copying, pasting, cutting, undoing, redoing and auto-completing. Cream/vi or Emacs/CUA are not valid options, since there are loads of things built over them that conflict with the mentioned stuff. It would be nice if there was an editor that would cope with the modern de-facto standards out-off-the-box, but still provide a command-line/minibuffer to perform/explore the commands and learn its shortcuts. Is there such a thing? I do not intend to use the "modern" term as derrogatory. I love both Emacs and VI, but I hate their keyboard-shortcut historical baggage. When I reffer to de-facto standards, I am not talking about Windows vs Whatever. Kate, gedit, Eclipse, Intelij or Textmate also follow the norm I am talking about and are not Windows editors. Please do not advertise Vim and Emacs, that's not answering the question. I am asking for alternatives. Why don't I like emacs and vi: Emacs: Despite CUA mode, emacs has loads of modes that conflict with this (e.g. slime, ruby-mode, etc...) It would be nice to have something that would work out-off-the-box. VI: I do not like that it is Visual/Insert-based. I do not know how to browse the text-editor's commands. I do not like that it is so much tought for the terminal. I believe that it has the same problem that I mentioned for emacs. This question is starting to look like requirement analysis.. As de-facto standards I mean: Ctrol-XCV for cut-copy-paste Ctrol-A for select-all Contrl-Z for Undo Ctrol-Y for Redo Control-F for Searching Contrl-Space for auto-complete Shift-arrow for selection Control-arrow for word-navigation Alt-Arrow for moving

• Truncate all tables in postgres database

  I regularly need to delete all the data from my postgresql database before a rebuild. How would I do this directly in SQL? At the moment I've managed to come up with a SQL statement that returns all the commands I need to execute: SELECT 'TRUNCATE TABLE ' || tablename || ';' FROM pg_tables WHERE tableowner='MYUSER'; but I cant see a way to execute them programatically once I have them... • Cucumber bundle not working in Textmate

  I set up Aslak's Cucumber.tmbundle in Texmate, set up PATH in Shell Variables to /Users/gerhard/.rvm/bin:/Users/gerhard/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/X11/bin but when I run any of the bundle commands I get this: env: sh\r: No such file or directory /usr/bin/env sh is in the search path, so what am I missing?

• Enthought Python, Sage, or others (in Unix clusters)

  I am currently get access to a cluster of Unix machines, but they don't have the software I need (numpy, scipy, matplotlib, etc), and I have to install them by myself (I don't have the root permission, either, so commands like apt-get or yast doesn't work). In the worst case, I have to compile them all from source. Is there any better way to do so? I hear something about Enthought Python and Sage, but not sure what is the best way to do so. Any suggestion?

• hg serve simply hangs in terminal

  I have setup a process in my User model to send a bunch of @users to a mailing script, user_mailer.rb I am using the http://postageapp.com app to send out emails. The users are getting to the User_mailer but I am getting an error from there. Can anyone please point me in the right direction. • Is there any way to delete an HttpOnly cookie from C# Selenium tests?

  I have a set of C# Selenium tests that need to delete a cookie that has the HttpOnly flag set. Unfortunately the DefaultSelenium.GetCookie() and DefaultSelenium.DeleteCookie() commands aren't able to access the cookie, because it has that HttpOnly flag set. I've confirmed this by removing the flag by hand, and checking that subsequent calls to either of those methods are then happily able to manipulate the cookie in question. Is there any other way to do this via the Selenium .NET client driver? All ideas welcome!

• Open-source generic web service to database interface?

  I'm looking for a thin, generic layer (probably written in PHP) that sits between a database (probably MySQL) and web service clients (which could be anything). I imagine there would be config files of some sort that tell it how to map web service requests to database queries (or other DB commands). It would also need to handle authentication and authorization, of course. I've done some googling but failed to find anything that fits the bill. Can anyone suggest something like this?

  I used message box as seperate dialog instead of sheets for mac OS, now i m working on it to spawn a sheet as message box instead of seperate one. I have tried setting the message box as a modal one: (messagebox.setWindowModality(QtCore.Qt.WindoModal)) and setting message box, parent dialog window flags as sheet (parentDialog.setWindowFlags(QtCore.Qt.Sheet) messagebox.setWindowFlags(QtCore.Qt.Sheet)) But the above commands are not working to create a sheet instead of seperate dialog. Does anyone have an idea of how to solve?

I spent some time researching this since yesterday and finally traced this down to a few posts on several website that use the System.DirectoryServices.DirectoryEntr class. Using the examples I found, I can add or deny IPs or domains under Connection control but not Relay Restrictions. What would be the commands in C# to add IPs to the Relay Restrictions?   I created several simple ggplot2 plots and saved them to PDF files using the following commands: p <- ggplot(plotobject, aes(x=Pos, y=Pval),res=300) ggsave(plot=p,height=6,width=6,dpi=200, filename="~/example.pdf") If I now open this example.pdf in Adobe Illustrator I get the following error: The font AdobePiStd is missing. Affected text will be displayed using a substitute font. Is there a way in ggplot2 to specify a font (I presume this is for the dots/points) that Adobe will understand or otherwise is there a way to get this font working in Adobe?
