  Emacs does not seem to respect the OS's key repeat rate. I'm using emacs in the terminal. I've set the repeat rate to as fast as possible by directly editing the settings in the following file (I restarted after making the change): open ~/Library/Preferences/.GlobalPreferences.plist The rest of the system observes the repeat rate. The terminal works as expected, as does vim. But, when I use emacs I still get the annoyingly slow repeat rate.

  Hello, I'm on shared hosting and today i discovered there are some backdoor script.. in .htaccess and a php file. So i went to check via FTP, cannot edit nor delete. So i checked with direct admin.. the file permission(GUID, UID) is set by APACHE while rest of file is set by my username, So my question now is.. the trojan did this is originated from my computer or host side?

  If I run a program from the shell, and it segfaults: $ buggy_program Segmentation fault It will tell me, however, is there a way to get programs to print a backtrace, perhaps by running something like this: $ print_backtrace_if_segfault buggy_program Segfault in main.c:35 (rest of the backtrace) I'd also rather not use strace or ltrace for that kind of information, as they'll print either way...

  So I have 1 computer with 5 IP's and around 15 sites being hosted. I have 4 of the ips setup to be dedicated for 4 sites and the rest share the 5th ip. When I'm setting up my name server, do I set it up at Godaddy my Registar or on my server's dns or both? Can I just setup NS1 - Add all the ips NS2 - Add all the ips And just have all the sites use those two name servers?

But I do have an application that I need to make sure always has the highest priority on my system as it is critical for the rest of the applications I am running.   I have created a user which has specific privileges to access the shares on our WD MyBookLive Network drive (ie it requires a password to connect), however after connecting once Windows seems to remember the password (or at least for the rest of the session). How can I make it so it is necessary to require a password every time the user connects to the drive or makes some change on Windows? Rest of the network consists of windows-xp machines All xp machines can see the shared samba folders when internet access is on. If however , the internet access is interrupted , then the samba server cannot be viewed and no sharing occurs. Is samba folder sharing dependent on internet access ?

  Our internal network folder can take up to 5 seconds to generate a thumbnail for each photo in a network folder. Usually, only 10% of thumbnails actually display; the rest are default jpg icons. A thumbs.db file already exists inside this folder, so presumably the thumbnails have been generated before. Why do they have to be generated again? The PC is Win7 64-bit. The server is Windows 2003 Server SP2.

  I recently inherited an Infiniband network containing multiple switches, and I know that one of these switches is running the subnet manager. The rest supposedly have that feature turned off, or were never enabled. The trouble is, I have no idea which one it is... I'd like to replace the switch subnet manager with OpenSM running on a couple of my infrastructure servers. Is there any way, short of logging into each switch individually, to determine which switch is running the SM?
