  • Xcode missing Command Line Utility section - can't start Foundation project template

    I downloaded the iPhone SDK from the iPhone dev center a couple of days ago and installed it yesterday. I'm following the Stanford iPhone development tutorials available on iTunes U. On Assignment 1B, the first instruction is to open a new Foundation Project template. The screenshot shows several sections in Xcode which my version doesn't seem to have, including the Command Line Utility section which the Foundation Project template is shown to be in. Does this need to be installed manually? I tried searching on Google with no luck. The fact that I'm an OS X newbie doesn't really help any either. Thanks in advance!

    I have a visual studio windows app project. I've added code to download an installer update file. The installer after it has finished downloading would need administrator privilages to run. I have added a manifest file. When user clicks on the DownloadUpdate.exe, UAC prompts the user for Admin permissions. So i assumed that all processes created and called within DownloadUpdate.exe will run in admin capacity.     Is there a way to detect when a specific device is plugged into a usb port, what I would like to happen is when I plug my laptop into my docking station it run up several apps to account for my different keyboard, mouse and monitors. Specifically I have an issue with some software for my G15 keyboard stopping media player closing properly. Hopefully in .NET but if not any suggestions appreciated.

There are people who mercilessly educate themselves, and there are others who are a bit ho-hum about it, feeling a bit of apathy. If you remove all of the risk associated surrounding a "refocus" of your career - what choices would you make? What things would you learn and what would you do with it?     I try to use AlarmManager to setup an alarm that happens after some seconds from now. Here is my code: AlarmManager am = (AlarmManager)context.getSystemService(Context.ALARM_SERVICE); Intent intent = new Intent(ALARM_ACTION); PendingIntent alarmIntent = PendingIntent.getBroadcast(getBaseContext(), 0, intent, PendingIntent.FLAG_UPDATE_CURRENT); Calendar rightNow = Calendar.getInstance(); rightNow.add(Calendar.SECOND, NumOfSecond); am.set(AlarmManager.RTC, rightNow.getTimeInMillis(), alarmIntent); For example, if rightNow is 8:00AM and I hope my alarm happens after 14400 seconds, that is 12:00PM, so NumOfSecond will be set as 14400. But when the code runs what happens is the alarm not always happens exactly at 12:00PM, sometimes it will be delayed by 1 or 2 minutes, or even 5 minutes! Does any one know what the heck is happened here?

    Git treats lines starting with # as comment lines when committing. this is very annoying when working with a ticket tracking system, and trying to write the ticket number at the beginning of the line, e.g. #123 salt hashed passwords git will simply remove the line from the commit message. is there any way to escape the hash? i tried \ and !, but nothing works. whitespaces before # are preserved, so they aren't a working solution to the problem either.

  • Places to start for system programmer transitioning to web programming

    So here's where I'm coming from: My background is in C#, C++, VB Script, php, javascript, PowerShell, T-SQL, and VB 6. I have some experience with python, and a brief introduction to Ruby On Rails. At work, we're transitioning to a web based UI in the next year or so, but in asp.net & SilverLight. I would like to, if possible, learn more open source web technologies on the side. And, hopefully, in a year and a half or so, I would like to transition to a more open source web technology position. I found that I do really like python, but I'm open to pretty much anything. And yes, I do know Linux (ubuntu and gentoo), as well. And, here's my question: What technologies, frameworks, IDEs, or systems should I be highly proficient in to become a prime candidate for a position doing web application development using non-Microsoft technologies?

  • Does CSS have a "start over" feature?

    I'm using calendar_date_select (henceforth CDS) in a Rails application, and have a stupid question. When I embed the CDS component in the middle of an already-CSS-styled page, all manner of things go ugly-wrong with it (spacing, fonts, etc.). Clearly the elements inside the CDS have inherited unwanted stuff from the styles already working in the containing page. Now, I could use a combination of, say, Safari's CSS debugging and analyze what's wrong element-by-element. But that's (A) tedious, and (B) might load up my component's styles with tons of container-defeating special cases. If nothing else, I'm certain to change the containing page's styles in the future and would have to maintain the special cases. My question: Is is possible to have a DIV in a page that essentially backs out all the existing styling? Is there a simple one-liner that will do this? Failing that, can it be done on an element-by-element basis? E.g. I know what tags the CDS generates, so I could list each of them: { p: "#--NOTHING--#"; a: "#--NOTHING--#"; } where #--NOTHING--# is the Magic Turn Off All Inherited Styles incantation. http://code.google.com/p/calendardateselect/ Thanks, peeps.

  • Clickonce program will not start when launched from shell_execute

    I have a very old program that I have no control over. It launches a filetype with its default application like this(I cannot modify this code): LET Err (SHELL_EXECUTE 'open' (FIX_MESG '"{1}"' File_name) '' '') ^^The above code works, so long as that filetype isn't associated with ClickOnce. The old program is 32 bit, the OS is Windows 7 64 bit. I can compile my clickonce program as anything, but none seem to work. (I've tried x84, x64 and anyCPU) How can I make a 32 bit program use shell execute to launch a ClickOnce program on a 64bit OS?

  • Visual Studio Unit Test failure to start

    Hi, I am having an issue when starting the tests under debug mode in Visual Studio 2008 Team Test where it gives the following error: "Failed to queue test run '{user@machinename}': Object reference not set to an instance of an object." I googled for the error but no joy. Don't even understand what it means as it is too brief. Has anyone come across this? Note that I can run tests fine if I am not debugging and I get the same error irrespective of the test I run.     Hello, I'm really new in TDD and, actually, I'm trying to follow the sample from my book (SportsStore -- Pro ASP.NET MVC Framework/Steve Sanderson/APRESS). I'm on pages 103-105. Although there are more on this, as new to all of this, I'm concerned with the following statements. ProductsController controller = new ProductsController(repository); var result = controller.List(2); //... regarding the above statements, when I write this (as in the book), var products = result.ViewData.Model as IList<Product>; I get a compiler error "System.Web.MVC.ActionResult" does not contain a definition for ViewData ..." But, when I remove the List() from the statement, then the compiler error disapear. var result = controller.List(2);//Doesn't work var result = controller;//It works Is something wrong there? I checked Apress website for that book, but there is nothing listed as Errata or issue. So I'm really lost. Thanks for helping

  • Spring can't find a lib and webapp doesn't start up in tomcat 6

    I've this problem using STS: I'm building a simple Spring app, just to try out features like MVC and persistence. Now I've created something very simple, out of a bunch of tutorials for Spring 3, that I'm using. The application fails with this, during server startup: Code: org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException: Error creating bean with name 'org.springframework.web.servlet.mvc.annotation.DefaultAnnotationHandlerMapping#0': Initialization of bean failed; nested exception is org.springframework.beans.factory.CannotLoadBeanClassException: Cannot find class [org.springframework.orm.hibernate3.annotation.AnnotationSessionFactoryBean] for bean with name 'mySessionFactory' defined in ServletContext resource [/WEB-INF/spring/appServlet/servlet-context.xml]; nested exception is java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.springframework.orm.hibernate3.annotation.AnnotationSessionFactoryBean but I've org.springframework.orm in web-inf/classes folder (I even tried putting it in web-inf/lib). As I copied these libs there, the came out in Web App Libraries folder. Building this project in STS works fine as this dependency is set up in build path throught project properties, but how do I transfer the libs to the web app? (I'm using Tomcat 6 as it is the server I'm going to use sometime in the future for production). Is this a config problem of my XML? Or am I just missing the right way to put this lib? (I encountered the same problem before, but adding the needed lib in classes worked it out). More than this I that if I browse inside my workspace to the folder where the working folder of tomcat should be, I can't find any work directory and any commo
