  • How to select all text inside text area of code field on web pages

    In all the forums web pages the download links are given inside the [code] braces that looks like text area with white background. When the download links are in large numbers then there are scroll bars. I find it difficult to scroll up and then select and then drag down to select all links. Is there any way to select all , when I click on select all on right click then it usually selects the text from whole page not from that code segment

What is the proper way to deal with security of sharing code in such cases? Is it possible to restrict part of code for developers? So each of them could work on their project without having access to whole repository. P.S.     I've been going through Skiena's excellent "The Algorithm Design Manual" and got hung up on one of the exercises. The question is: "Given a search string of three words, find the smallest snippet of the document that contains all three of the search words—i.e. , the snippet with smallest number of words in it. You are given the index positions where these words in occur search strings, such as word1: (1, 4, 5), word2: (4, 9, 10), and word3: (5, 6, 15). Each of the lists are in sorted order, as above." Anything I come up with is O(n^2)... This question is in the "Sorting and Searching" chapter, so I assume there is a simple and clever way to do it. I'm trying something with graphs right now, but that seems like overkill. Ideas? Thanks

    Hi, I'm trying to use the Java commands pw.println() and br.readLine() in Matlab because I have set up a socket (input_socket2) between Matlab and a command-line program I want to control using Java classes BufferedReader and PrintWriter. Before the following snippet of code, I implemented another socket that goes between 2 computers. This works great and I also know that the following snippet of code successfully opens up a communication line between Matlab and the other program. However, Matlab throws an error at pw.println('noop'). I think it has something to do with syntax, but I'm not sure how to write the command in Matlab syntax then: try input_socket2 = Socket(host2,port2); input_stream2 = input_socket2.getInputStream; d_input_stream2 = DataInputStream(input_stream2); br = BufferedReader(InputStreamReader(input_stream2)); pw = PrintWriter(input_socket2.getOutputStream,true); pw.println('noop') br.read end Any ideas?

  • Having trouble understanding some code (Ruby on Rails)

    I posted a question awhile ago asking how I could limit the rate at which a form could be submitted from a rails application. I was helped by a very patient user and their solution works great. The code was for my comments controller, and now I find myself wanting to add this functionality to another controller, my Messages controller. I immediately tried reusing the working code from the comments controller but I couldn't get it to work. I'll explain how much of the code I understand. When a comment is created, a cookie is created with a last_post_time value. If they try to post another comment, the cookie is checked if the last one was made in the last two minutes. If it was a flash warning is displayed and no comment is recorded. What I don't really understand is how the post_check method works and how I can adapt it for my simpler posts controller. I thought I could reuse all the code in the message controller with the exception of the line: @message = Message.find(params[:message_id]) # (don't need the redirect code) in the post_check method. But it trips up on the "record_post_time" in the create action/method. I really want to understand this. Can someone explain why this doesn't work? I greatly appreciate you reading my lengthy question.

  • Copy and pasting code into the Python interpreter

    There is a snippet of code that I would like to copy and paste into my Python interpreter. Unfortunately due to Python's sensitivity to whitespace it is not straightforward to copy and paste it a way that makes sense. (I think the whitespace gets mangled) Is there a better way? Maybe I can load the snippet from a file.
