• Grails external Jms broker (active mq)

  I have what will become an 'external' activemq server I'd like grails to be able to talk to. Right now I am just running it on my dev box. Here is what I have setup right now: 1) Run activemq server 2) Run activemq/examples using ant to produce messages 3) View ActiveMQ admin site: http://localhost:8161/admin/queues.jsp verify that messages are in the queue. 4) Follow Mini Tutorial to create the Service and Controller: http://www.grails.org/ActiveMQ+Plugin 5) Configured my Grails resources.groovy file as follows: beans = { jmsConnectionFactory(SingleConnectionFactory){ targetConnectionFactory = { ActiveMQConnectionFactory cf -> brokerURL = 'tcp://localhost:61616' } } } When I run the grails app I get a BindException saying port 61616 is already in use. How do I configure this to use my server that is already running? I've tried changing 'localhost' to '127.0.0.1' and to my LAN ip, but no luck, it keeps trying to setup its own embedded activemq server. Any ideas?

• How can I allow only privledged users to download a pdf with php?

  Lets say I have some pdf files stored on my server and I only want to allow a person who's paid have access to download a particular pdf. So for an example, let's say I have a bunch of e-books. The only way a user would be able to download e-book A is if his account contains the right credentials for that particular book. What's the best way to accomplish this? Any ideas/advice on how to improve my idea are greatly appreciated! My current idea: A user places an order Upon success, a new folder would be created by their /account_num/order_id/ A copy of the particular file would be stored in this directory Have php generate an .htaccess that would only allow access from a url that contains a random hash embedded into it. The only way a user would be able to access this random hashed page is if they are signed in as the right user, and the hash matches up with the hash stored in the database, otherwise they are redirected to home page.

  I got a simple increment function like this: $(function(){ $("#inc").click(function(){ var value = parseInt($(":text[name='ice_id']").val()) + 1; $(":text[name='ice_id']").val(value); }); $("#dec").click(function(){ var value = parseInt($(":text[name='ice_id']").val()) - 1; $(":text[name='ice_id']").val(value); }); }); the ice_id text field is embedded within a form <form id="masterSubmit" name="masterSubmit" action="" method="post"> <td><input id="ice_id" type="text" name="ice_id" size="16" maxlength="15"></td> </form> When I try now to increment , it successfully increments a number, but shows the following weird behavior: It 'refreshes' the site, so that the content of the text field is gone. This behavior disappears, if I comment out the form tags ...unfortunately the form tags are required for an AJAX-submit. Are there any ways to avoid this problem?   What is your opinon about following regexes - is it correct? Pleas not another answer "use existing xml parser". Question is - are the regexes proper or not? This is specific situation - C language in embedded system and xml is not well-formed (cannot be fixed - does not depend on me). Xml have specified schema and no problem with namespaces etc. exists.

• Setup Jetty 7 with JSP engine

  I've been trying to get Jetty to run my web app via a custom launcher (embedded). I am trying to figure out how to tell Jetty which java compiler to use for JSPs. I want to do what java -jar start.jar -OPTIONS=jsp does, but without using start.jar. Here is what shows on the console: Javac exception, Unable to find a javac compiler; com.sun.tools.javac.Main is not on the classpath. Perhaps JAVA_HOME does not point to the JDK Do I need to put the javac libraries into my classpath?

• DB management for Heroku apps

  Hi all, I'm fairly new to both Rails and Heroku but I'm seriously thinking of using it as a platform to deploy my Ruby/Rails applications. I want to use all the power of Heroku, so I prefer the "embedded" PostgreSQL managed by Heroku instead of the addon for Amazon RDS for MySQL, but I'm not so confident without the possibility to access my data in a SQL client... I know that in a well made app you have no need to access DB, but there are some situations (add rows to a config table, see data not mapped in a view, update some columns for debugging issues, performance monitoring, running queries for reporting, etc.) when this can be good... How do you solve this problem? What's you experience in a real life app powered by Heroku? Thanks!

I'm trying to use lxml cleaner to clean out a couple of html pages, so in the end i am just left with the text and nothing else - but try as i might, the above doesnt appear to work as such, i'm still left with a substial amount of markup (and it doesnt appear to be broken html), and particularly links, which aren't getting removed, despite the args i use in remove_tags and links=True any idea whats going on, perhaps im barking up the wrong tree with lxml ? i thought this was the way to go with html parsing in python?

• Alternative to iframe using AJAX

  Hello. I have a music player swf embedded on an html page. Is there any way to have the music continuously play, even when the different html pages are loaded? When a link is clicked, the page is refreshed, also restarting the swf(music). If the site was AJAX driven, this wouldn't be a problem, but all my pages are static. I suppose I could put the entire body in an iframe, but there has to be a better option. Any ideas?

• How can I set breakpoints in an external JS script in Firebug

  I can easily set breakpoints in embedded JS functions, but I don't see any way of accessing extarnal JS scripts via Firebug unless I happen to enter them during a debug session. Is there a way to do this w/o having to 'explore' my way into the script? @Jason: This is a good point, but in my case I do not have easy access to the script. I am specifically talking about the client scripts which are invoked by the ASP.Net Validators that I would like to debug. I can access them during a debug session through entering the function calls, but I could not find a way to access them directly.

• How do you use a flash object as a link?

  Is it possible to use a flash document embedded in HTML as a link? I tried just wrapping the object element with an a like this: <a href="http://whatever.com"> <object ...> <embed ... /> </object> </a> In Internet Explorer, that made it show the location in the status bar like a link, but it doesn't do anything. I just have the .swf file, so I can't add a click handler in ActionScript.

• Calling As function from js problem

  I have a swf file that is not controlled by me. The swf expects a javascript call to set some variables after initialization. The swf is embedded using the swfobject and I'm trying to call the as function right after the embed. This appears to be too soon because I get an error. Everything else should be fine since calling the as function manually via firebug does not produce the error. So the question is how do I call the function when the embed is complete?

This script works fine when I run it from command line but if it is invoked from cron it always fails to link the object files. My application has dependency on openssl. Does anyone know how to fix this problem or should i switch to Apache?

• Linux program - reverse highlighted text

  I want to develop a program that will run on the background of my Ubuntu 12.04 so when some text is selected in some textbox of any running program and some key-combination is pressed (like ctrl-F12), the text will be cut, reversed, and pasted in the same place. I know some programs that do it on windows. It is useful in some programs and web-pages that do not support right-to-left languages like arabic and hebrew - the letters are printed from left to right so the text becomes reversed. More specifically I need it in Prezi that has this kind of bug in their embedded flash editor (I thought about writing a chrome-plugin, but I don't think such plugin can manipulate the selected text inside a flash objects). Do you know if such a program exist? Where should I start reading in order to develop a program with such capabilities (manipulate selected text in other programs)? Thanks

  How do you calculate the linux process's Acutal Memory Usage and Not Virtual Memory Usage through the information supplied by /proc//smaps or maps or status or stat. To be more precise I need the heap usage only. I need to do this on an PowerPc based embedded system and hence I do not have utilities like exmap, valgrind etc. I understand the concepts of shared/non shared memory. I have read through the other topics given in this forum about the same but they talk more using the tools mentioned. What I need is the native way of calculation done by the same tools so that I may write a shell script for the same.

• Sending images using Http Post

  I want to send an image from the android client to the Django server using Http Post. The image is chosen from the gallery. At present, I am using list value name Pairs to send the necessary data to the server and receiving responses from Django in JSON. Can the same approach be used for images (with urls for images embedded in JSON responses)? Also which of, accesssing images remotely without downloading them from the server or downloading and storing them in a Bitmap array and using them locally is a better method? The images are few in number (<10) and small in size (50*50 dip). Any tutorial to tackle these problems would be much appreciated.

  Hello. I have a music player swf embedded on an html page. Is there any way to have the music continuously play, even when the different html pages are loaded?   Hello. I have a weird problem with global resources in my asp.net mvc web application. I have some resources in separate project(not a web app project). Those resources have following settings: Build action: Embedded Resource, Copy To Output Directory: Do not copy, Custom Tool: ResXFileCodeGenerator. When I change an existing value in resource file, build solution in release mode and upload neccesary dll files back to server, the previous values in resources are still shown. However, when I add a new key into resource file, the value of this key is shown properly. I do not have this problem during debugging on localhost. Thanks

  Hi, I am trying to work out if I need to call close on a fstream object if the intial open failed. i.e. std::fstream strm; strm.open( "filename" ); if( ! strm.fail() ) { // Do something strm.close(); // [1] } strm.close(); // [2] Where should close be called here - should it always be called [2] or only if the open succeeds[1]? I may be going over the top here, but coming from the Windows API way of typically doing this I have CloseHandle( ... ); embedded in my mind :-)

  Basically, I am attempting to render an external website (the url of which is stored in the database) into a page in my Ruby on Rails app. I have a field in my model 'search' called 'search' that contains web addresses with the form 'www.example.com' or 'example.com'. I am trying to use a link_to_function call with replace_html to replace the 'maincontent' div with an iframe tag using the value of 'search' in the current instance as the src for the tag. My current attempt is the very ugly code below. I'd be grateful for either of the following types of responses: How can I rewrite the concatenation string to work correctly? How can I get the same effect (replacing the current content of the "mainContent" div with an iframe tag using a different method? • Getting my app to work on my phone

  Hello I wrote an app android sdk version 1.5 using it's built in emulator in eclipse. I created a database outside of eclipse populated it with data and push it to the emulator folder data/data/project name/database and could access it fine from the my app, everything was working great. My final step was to test the apk file on an actual phone. When I did that the program would not work. After looking into it I found that the database file was not being uploaded into the phone. Is there a special way to install the apk file on the actual phone to get the embedded database to work? Or can I assume that since everything worked fine on the sdk 1.5 emulator that everything will work when I upload it to the market. Thanks in advance.

• Printing python tkinter output

  I am trying to print the contents of a python tkinter canvas. I have tried using the postscript method of canvas to create a postscript file, but I get a blank page. I know this is because I have embedded widgets, and these do not get rendered by the postscript method. Before I rewrite my program to create a more printer-friendly layout, can someone suggest a way to approach this problem? All of the programming books I have ever read approach the problem of sending output to a printer with a bit of hand-waving, something along the lines of: "It's a difficult problem that depends on interacting with the operating system." I also have a hard time finding resources about this because of all the pages related to printing to the screen. I am using Python 2.6, on Ubuntu 9.04.
