  • Virtualbox, Virtual guest OS issue

    Hi, My host OS is: Ubuntu 10.10. One of my virtual OS is: Ubuntu 9.04 and another one is: Ubuntu 10.04. All of these virtualisation has been completed with Virtualbox. Now, I need to replicate those two servers, one server is running in Ubuntu 9.04 and another one is running in Ubuntu 10.04. Is it possible? If yes, can you please provide me some help? So, in short words, the whole thing is: Host: Ubuntu 10.10 Guest 1: Ubuntu 9.04 Guest 2: Ubuntu 10.04 Job: Must have to run two guests at a time. Because, two LDAP of two guests need to replicate. Now, If I try to get the first Guest ( hostname: mohib-laptop ) from second Guest ( hostname: zaman-laptop ), it is not getting! Do I need to change IP address of those both Guests? Or are there anything which will make it possible?

  • How to tunnel all traffic through Tor?

    All I want is be able to use flash and javascript while using Tor (I don't intend to use it for torrents) Normally, using flash with Tor is not recommended because firefox plugins run outside of the sandbox, so the browser's proxy settings don't apply to them, and can reveal your real IP. But I think it should be possible to also redirect flash to the same socket as the browser, and block the other outgoing ports just in case. Any ideas on how to do this?

  • Cannot resize OS X partition

    I am trying to resize my existing Mac OS Extended partition on my Macbook to install Windows 7 (using steps similar to these), but when ever I go to apply the changes, I get this error: Partition failed Partition failed with the error: The partition cannot be resized. Try reducing the amount of change in the size of the partition. The total capacity of the hard drive in question is 260GB, with the entirety being taken up by the OS X boot partition. There is I am aiming to shrink that partition down to 60GB. How can I fix this problem? I have been reducing the amount of change by 10GB each attempt, but it still is not working. I assume the problem is that there is not a large amount of continuous space on the device. Is there some way to can do a manual defrag that would rectify this problem?

  • Auto-hide OS X menu bar?

    Is there a way to auto-hide the OS X menu bar, like is possible with the Dock? There was an application "Menufela" that did this for Tiger, but I'm not aware of anything similar for Leopard/Snow Leopard.. I'm almost certain this is (programatically) doable, because in full-screen applications the menu bar is hidden, and reappears when you mouse the mouse is at the top of the screen..     I use both chrome and firefox at the same time. As I always open Gmail first and then use the Reader link in upper left conner of Gmail to open Google Reader, I noticed that chomre hides the Google Reader Link. I can't find it anywhere in Gmail. Why doesn't chrome behave differently?

    I have an Ubuntu 12.04 NFS server and I have an iMac NFS client running OS X 10.6.8. I believe I have everything set up properly, yet I still get this error on the Mac: mount_nfs: can't access /nfs: Permission denied My exports on the Linux server uses the insecure option like this: /export/home/me/ 192.168.100.132(rw,subtree_check,insecure,nohide) Where 192.168.100.132 is the address of my Mac. I have even tried using -o resvport on the Mac (in addition to insecure on Linux) and I still get the same error as above. $ sudo mount -t nfs -o resvport 192.168.100.1:/home/me /Users/me/mount Here is the output of showmount: # showmount -e 192.168.100.1 Export list for 192.168.100.1: /export/home/me 192.168.100.132 .... I have reviewed this similar question: How to mount NFS export on Mac OS X? And I have reviewed this frequently recommended tutorial: http://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/apple-mac-osx-nfs-mount-command-tutorial/ I still can't find a solution. Any ideas?

    I have a pretty large 24" wide screen with a pretty high resolution. When I browse, some sites have a fixed layout and there is basically a narrow column. So I typically zoom in to the point just before the level where I have to scroll horizontally. Is there a browser plugin that auto-zooms in (or via a button or gesture or whatever) to the max available real estate? I'd prefer a plugin for Chrome, but Firefox will do too.

    Hi All, I'm a newbie developer wanting to learn a bit about Virtualization (from the IT point of view, not theoretical/academic). What I'd like to do: Prepare a machine Install VMWare or VirtualBox Prepare 3 Guest OSes (one for Win2k8 server, 2 for Ubuntu Server) Win2k8 will run SQL Server 2k8 and IIS (for ASP.NET MVC deployment) 1 Ubuntu Server for Drupal, SugarCRM, MediaWiki, typical LAMP stuff 1 Ubuntu Server for Java (Tomcat/Jetty + MySQL/PostgreSQL) What I'd like to know: What would be the ideal Host OS such that the Host OS should not spend too many resources on itself but should boost these instances of VMs (e.g: does Win2k8 performs better vs Linux?) What would be the ideal machine for this (preferably AMD base chip) I'm not expecting the best performance out of this setup, just a decent one to host one drupal instance, one ASP.NET MVC (future, not now), and one Tomcat/Jetty instance. NB: If you have a better suggestions on the setup, feel free to let me know (e.g: maybe Drupal and Tomcat can be in one instance but move the database to another instance instead of 1 instance map to 1 webserver and 1 dbserver).     Hi all, How do I find all installed apache and PHP occurences on a Mac OS X system in bash and uninstall them? My motivation: I've managed to install multiple apache and PHP packages (I believe it's called packages in Unix terms, correct?) at some point, and I'ld like to start out fresh again, without completely re-installing Mac OS X again. Also, I'ld like to install suPHP along with apache this time, and I believe I need to compile apache with some additional stuff for that.     A few newbie Mac OS X questions: Despite the fact that most applications can be installed by dragging them to the Applications directory, some software still requires the creation of a separate program folder. Where should I put this folder? Does it matter? Is the Applications directory special somehow, or is it just a convenient folder with a custom icon? If I move one of these program folders later on, will the program still work? Will shortcuts to files in the folder break? Is there something similar to a registry in Mac OS X?

    Hello, I have latest Ubuntu installed, with firefox 3.6.3. I have flashplugin-installer and ubuntu-restricted-extras installed. No other package concerning flash (gnash, swf) is installed. I can play videos on youtube or some other sites, some even some videos on yahoo, but I cannot play this video (and some others) - the blue circle in the center (like loading...) keeps flashing forever. Why can't I play it, and how to make it play?

  • Windows OS's cannot boot on new internal harddrive

    I have installed a new internal 500GB hard drive into a Dell Inspiron N4030 and it appears that the installation was entirely successful. The BIOS recognizes the drive and shows the serial number of the hard drive. The problem is that I cannot boot any Windows OS. I have tried XP, Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8. It displays only a black screen with a blinking cursor. Fedora boots successfully. My old hard drive crashed, but would atleast boot up these OS's before it died. Any help?

  • How to automount SMB shared network drives in Mac OS X Lion

    In Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) Apple has replaced good old SMB support. Now I can't auto connect to my shared (SMB) network drives. Workarounds? Or Impossible? In OS X Snow Leopard, I could automatically connect my Ubuntu (SMB) shared network drives with auto_smb / auto_master (autofs configuration in /private/etc/). I made three mount points (folders) directly in '/Volumes', I used /Volumes/Data and /Volumes/webroot (both SMB shared). Unfortunately Lion doesn't connect (automount) my network drives. I have to manually connect to the server (Ubuntu file server) in Finder, then open up Terminal to navigate to the mount points, and then it connects. This is not a workable solution. I've searched (Google/SO) but found no solutions apart from an unsupported hack. Isn't it possible any more to automatically connect to an SMB-shared drive during startup?

  • WebGL Not working in FF4b7 (with enabled_for_all_sites=true)

    I was trying to load the cool Kataspace WebGL demo (more info) and I get the error message "Your browser doesn't support WebGL. Currently we recommend the latest Firefox 4 Beta for all platforms." I checked around and every piece of advice I can find on the internet says to set webgl.enabled_for_all_sites to true in the about:config page. Mine is set to true yet I still receive the same message. Does anyone know of any other items that may be conflicting with WebGL running properly?
