  • Sparse constrained linear least-squares solver

    This great SO answer points to a good sparse solver, but I've got constraints on x (for Ax = b) such that each element in x is >=0 an <=N. The first thing which comes to mind is an QP solver for large sparse matrices. Also, A is huge (around 2e6x2e6) but very sparse with <=4 elements per row. Any ideas/recommendations? I'm looking for something like MATLAB's lsqlin but with huge sparse matrices.

  • Django: name of many to many items in the admin interface

    I have a many to many field, which I'm displaying in the django admin panel. When I add multiple items, they all come up as "ASGGroup object" in the display selector. Instead, I want them to come up as whatever the ASGGroup.name field is set to. How do I do this?     Hi I have created an Amazon EC2 Instance that provides Windows Server 2008 with SQL Sever 2008 pre-installed. Now in order to use the SQL Server for creating databases, or restoring backups of the databases that I have on my local machine, I need the "sa" password for SQL Server 2008. I have tried using the following but with no luck: sa password "blank password" "same password as the admin password for my EC2 instance" Could someone please guide me as to how to get started with using the Amazon EC2 Datacenter with respect to the "sa" password.   • Unselect Databound Combobox Winforms .NET

    The problem: combobox is databound to a DataView, first item in the dataview is DataRowView whose fields are DBNull.Value; Combo DropdownStyle = ComboBoxStyle.DropDownList Loads fine, displays fine, selects fine, problem is to Unselect via code. Setting the SelectedIndex to 0 throws an exception. (Setting to -1 is a no-no as per msdn doco that says dont set SelectedIndex=-1 if databound) So how to unselect without throwing an exception ? For now i wrapped it into a try/catch to just ignore the error! EDIT: As asked by Hubeza, i worked on sample code to post. Did a stripped down version of the original code in C# (original is in VB.NET) and could NOT reproduce it either. Converted to VB.NET and could NOT reproduce it either ! In other words, SelectedIndex = 0 does work in the stripped down version! Currently further investigating what else could be wrong with the original code. EDIT2: Case Closed. Call me a stupid fool if you like, and apologies for wasting anyone's time - The error was originating from MyComboBox_SelectedIndexChanged event, which i neglected to check ! Following are the things I have in mind: 1) use high level scripting language like python or perl instead of shell script for a more comprehensive functionality and error handling 2) check that the file exists at the destination after FTP 3) check destination file size.   • CustomValidator, pagemethods and JQuery what fun

    Hey all, I have a CustomValidator, RequiredFieldValidator and ValidationSummary controls on an aspx page to check the current password and make sure the new password is not blank. When I click submit I get the js alert() box from the summary control telling me about just the RequiredFieldValidator being false, but the client script for the CustomValidator does not seem to get its return value used. I have checked the "arguments.IsValid" value using FireBug, so it is getting called and returning the correct bool, but it never shows up in the val summary box? Thanks, Goosey
