  I am using LINQ to XML to create an Excel XML file. I want to include newlines within the cells. Excel uses the &#10; literal to represent a new line. If I try to add this using an XText: XText newlineElement = new XText( "Foo&#10;Bar" ); I get: Foo&amp;#10;Bar Which shows up in Excel as: Foo&#10;Bar Is there a way to write &#10 to the XML file without doing a String.Replace( "&amp;#10;", "&#10;" ) over the resulting file text?

• Programatically convert complex Excel file into HTML format

  Hello all, I have a set of complex Excel files (with figures in it) that I want to show in a web browser. So I need to convert them into HTML page first. Since the excel files are very complex, I can not just parse them and generate a HTML table with HTML tags. The current manual solution that works fine is when I use Microsoft Excel software to save the spreadsheet as a HTML page. I want to automate this task in some way since I want to do it progrmatically through Java. Is their any existing solution or a way to do it? Thanks.

  Is there a easy good way to sum up various excel files in matlab? what i really want is similar to dos command type file*.xls sumfile.xls I have from 10-100 excel files with similar file name formats excet the date XXXXX_2010_03_03.xls, XXXXX_2010_03_03.xls and so on..... Is there a command to copy the files one after other. All files are of diff length so i cannot know the position of the rows after each file. I would like to have them copied in same sheet of excel. • Sharepoint 2007 - cant find my modifications to web.config in SpWebApplication.WebConfigModification

  Hi, I cant seem to find the modifications I made to web.config in my FeatureRecievers Activated event. I try to get the modifications from the SpWebApplication.WebConfigModifications collection in the deactivate event, but this is always empty.... And the strangest thing is that my changes are still reverted after deactivating the feature... My question is, should I not be able to view all changes made to the web.config files when accessing the SpWebApplication.WebConfigModifications collection in the Deactivating event? I need to control the behavior of each record based on that field content. For certain status the record should became read only, and only admin users should be able to edit / change it. • Copying Pasting Word 2007 docs to HTML WYSIWYG editors

  Microsoft word has a ton of proprietary formatting and styles that do not translate well to html WYSIWYG editors. When you paste them over to the html editor and try to edit the pasted info it causes all kinds of clashing styles. I want to be able to keep the general structure but leave out the proprietary stuff. Essentially I want to save clients the headache of having to completely strip out all formatting forcing them to redo all the styling again in the WYSIWYG, but at the same time avoid the conflicts that Word formatting creates. Any ideas?

When I try siteCollection = new SPSite("http://localhost"); in Visual Studio 2008 it throws an error Web Application is not found. Of course, the localhost works in IE and I don't know why testwebapp doesn't work. Any ideas? TIA! David

If so, what should be the correct value? What should i do to simulate the behaviour of 'Upload' menu??(i.e. when 'Upload' menu is visible, 'Import From REP' menu is visible and when 'Upload' menu is not visible 'Import From REP' menu is also not visible. ) Thanks in advance Anoop

  I want to use audience targeting feature for webpart with FBA. I tried to add FBA user directly in sharepoint group or added the user to a asp.net role and then added the role to sharepoint group, but both failed. My observation is that all FBA users can see the webpart content no matter whether they are specified in audience targeting or not. After googling it, I found there are three different conclusion about this, FBA cannot be used with audience targeting FBA can be used with audience targeting FBA can be used with audience targeting if the FBA user is added directly to sharepoint group May I know which is the correct explanation? Where can I find official Microsoft documentation regarding to this problem?

  Do you know what basic information MUST include a paragraph (w:p) in document.xml inside a *.docx document, that specifies an image? I do know there must be <a:blip r:embed="rId4" /> specifing the relation id, but what else? It's very hard to find it in google and experimenting with cutting out tags from a ready document or reading the specification takes a lot of time. An example with all the required tags would be greatly appreciated.

For this i created a web application with windows authentication for intranet zone and after that, I created an extension for an internet zone with fba. In the internet extension we have the following requirement: - able to acess to sharepoint backoffice using fba. - have a authentication mecanism for portal visitors, where they can authenticate and acess to a page where they can subscribe the newsletter and define some site appearance (this users can't acess to sharepoint backoffice). My idea is use the aspnet membership provider to authenticate both users and create diferente roles for them. Anyone suggests another approach? Is there any way to ensure that visitors (2 case) do not enter the backoffice portal? Thanks

Is it possible to specify Target Audience in the CAML query ? If not, how should I do it ? Retrieve all results and than apply filter in a loop ?   I have 2 webparts which are connected, where the provider sends a string to the consumer. However it fails to work if I put any TextBox controls in the consumer webpart. (works fine if I use a Label or Literal control. The idea is that the consumer is to be composed of form controls like TextBoxes. e.g. the codeproject sample at http://www.codeproject.com/KB/sharepoint/ConnectingCustomWebParts.aspx Works fine... until you replace the consumer Label control with a TextBox.   If a SharePoint user (with Regional Settings set to UK) views a calculated date field in a View details form, the field shows incorrectly. I am using: ddwrt:FormatDateTime(string(@RenewalDate), 1033, 'dd MMMM yyyy') Which shows 04 January 2010 for 01/04/2010 and, doesnt show unresolvable dates such as 31-Dec-2010. This applies even with a simnple =[Modified] formula The Server is set up in the US for that locale.

  If I open a doc in read only mode I'm able to press save and then it opens up a save as box and the default directory is the directory on the sharepoint server and if you press save you save it to the server. This actually makes the whole process not really "read only" mode since I could actually update the document. Is there a way to prevent this from happening so that if someone chooses read only there is no way possible to updload any changes back to the sharepoint site? Also, it has been suggested as a solution to get rid of the edit/read only option so that people have to check out the document. Is there a way to remove the edit/read only option on documents?

• Problem with ranking of search results in SharePoint 2007 if using the CONTAINS predicate

  While writing a front-end for the SharePoint Search web service for work, I did some quick testing with the MOSS Search Tool to make sure things were working right under the hood. What I found was that queries composed only of CONTAINS predicates (FREETEXT ones were fine) would have a rank of 1000 for any results that were returned. According to the documentation (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms544086.aspx): "If the query returns a document because a non–full-text predicate evaluates to TRUE for that document, the rank value is calculated as 1000." Given that the behaviour I am seeing seems to contradict the documentation, is it the case that all queries that use only the CONTAINS predicate will produce ranking like this?
